YES! I've been looking to discuss the concept if adoption with someone who understands... This thread is exactly what I believe. Features can be so easily copied that adoption is everything. That's why I'm invested in aerocoin. They're number one focus is adoption. They copied anonsend and encrypted messenger to show the competency of the dev team (Which both function perfectly) BUT, their main focus is the development of AeroMe. It's a complete marketplace / has a payroll function / has an auction / has a loan service / has merchant services / this amazing concept of smart property. It's a complete system dedicated to one thing... Being adopted and used . It's doing what all these million dollar start ups are doing for bitcoin. Please read the white pages in my signature. I promise this isn't spam... I really believe that trying to be used by the main stream should be the goal of every alt, and that's exactly what aerocoin is doing. I'd love to discus this with you OP. I think adoption is absolutely everything.
AeroMe (complete marketplace) is slated to have a beta in two weeks. After the release they plan to market the fuck out of the concept to the masses, so the coin can get used. To me It will essentially function like an online store where you must buy coins to use the site, similar to gaming devices (like Xbox points). SO YOU WOULD HAVE EVERYDAY PEOPLE BUYIG AEROCOIN AND USING AEROCOIN. the holy grail of adoption!
AeroMe sounds interesting. Reading the whitepaper in your sig now.

Does anyone here believe that crypto currencies should focus on people using them in their day to day lives at all?
That's what they are doing. There is some attention paid to Pow/PoS because that's what the security is founded upon, and it matters, but far more attention is paid to user-visible features. You only mentioned one: anonymity. Well, anonymity and privacy are important, especially for coins that re-use addresses. Features like Nxt's asset exchange, digital goods store, arbitrary messaging: these are all new ways to use the coin, so they are exactly what Peter was asking for. Except they aren't in Bitcoin, because Bitcoin development is moribund. Second generation coins like Nxt are designed to be extensible, to have new user-visible features added. That's another way in which core architecture matters. From what I can tell very few currencies really focus on gaining widespread main stream adoption. But there are some that do we'll probably end up discussing which ones and what approaches they take in this thread as it develops. I agree that anonymity is an important thing for many people, including myself. But for the average person who wants to use a currency online to order a book, or buy someone a beer by tipping their artwork that they just viewed on their website, anonymity is less important. Yes, it's very difficult now for Bitcoin to add on new features and push any new development initiatives with the political situation that exists. That's why it's such a great time to be focused on building a competing currency that can rival if not overtake Bitcoin in adoption.

No one interested in discussing adoption or lack there of? Does anyone here believe that crypto currencies should focus on people using them in their day to day lives at all? There are several phases when it come to adoption. It needs the support of developers, miners and geek first before it ever get to the average consumer. And this part of the process usually take longer than 6 months. And coin that passes this phase such as litecoin and dogecoin doesn't automatically mean the merchant and consumer will use it. At this point, only bitcoin still reign supreme and the rest of altcoins should still considered pump and dump. Support by the developers is key, yes, I agree. And the miners must secure the network for everything to function. And having a community of 'geeks' to support the coin and provide assistance helps as well. 6 months seems like a reasonable time frame for all this to come together. Mainly the development and all the work that goes in to that, but also the establishment of a community and places to communicate like message boards and such. I agree with you when you say getting large like Litecoin and Dogecoin did does not automatically lead to merchant and consumer adoption. That takes an approach focused on meeting the needs of both parties. I don't feel that Litecoin or Dogecoin made much progress in this regard. Dogecoin focused on building an insular community, and was successful at that. But that's not something that leads to widespread adoption. Litecoin focused on adoption the first year or two that it came out. But the communities' efforts seem to have faded and they have become complaisant, save for a couple of people(TheMage in particular). But I also think that focusing on adoption from the start and not waiting for investors to 'pump' up the price is a better strategy. It takes a long time and a lot of work to create things that both merchants and consumers want to use. Most people seem to think that comes later, but I think people should be focusing on it from the start.

ASICs are bad mmmmk?
Well actually I agree with you there. Over time it leads to centralisation like Bitcoin has shown. But in the short run for new scrypt currencies it helps secure their networks easily since large amounts of hashing can be rented by many people. It doesn't mean there isn't any risk of attacks, but they can be defended against more easily. And now with scrypt ASICs there are no botnets dominating the network and constantly dumping coins. But in the future I want to move away from ASICs, definitely. The PoS and other technologies are being proven now as we speak, and when they are ready I will be pushing for them as hard as anyone. But for now scrypt is the best option for a new currency. We wanted something stable, fair, and proven to start out with which is why we chose scrypt for Bitmark. But I can't wait for a fully vetted PoS system that we can adapt. I hate the wastefulness of mining.

Gold mining also raised socialist-warmonger ambitions: it was forbidden in the U.S. during WWII, because it was seen as waste of resources. (I would have argued that the war was the waste of resources, not gold mining, but nobody asked my opinion..)
World War II was a waste? On topic: In that thread where that guy revealed that CN and Bytecoin were at the very least supporting each others lies, the CN/BCN shill accounts have come crawling out of the woodwork. There's a few of them registered with in a few minutes of each other as well, it's quite funny. CryptoNote is now claiming that their website was hacked and someone placed fake whitepapers on it! Hilarious.. You Monero folks have to be extra careful about that code base imo. These CN people are absolutely nuts.

Another "senior" member who needs to point out he only invested a little, or traded XMR and has no horse in the race but feels the need to point out what a scam Cryptonote is, despite the first post being proven to be false. How many of you guys are in on the XMR pump and dump? Must be big money riding on this...
There certainly is big money riding on this. Fact of the matter is simple. XMR folks would never have wanted to see this discovery. It is a bad situation and casts a shadow on CN in general. Just because Monero is, in many people's opinion, the best of the few clean, fair CN based coins doesnt mean having nearly the entire CN community called out for dishonesty does XMR any good. It doesn't really, IMO. But most of us who are invested in XMR would prefer light to darkness. And light has been cast on this situation. You would have to be blind to see what recent developments like "Uh Oh, hacked!" really look like. The dog ate my whitepaper. l0l Yes, the fact that there is so much shadiness behind CN is a huge negative for XMR. Despite the fact that they've taken it in their own direction, there is still the risk of backdoors in the code. If CN were real people with real names connected to real jobs and universities, this risk would be much lower. But all we have now is obvious lies and pseudonyms. Monero now has the additonal burden of convincing the public that they've made sure that all of the code is clean. It's not a win for Monero. Judging by volume on Poloniex, none of these coins are even a remote threat anway. So other CN coins being damaged really has very little effect on Monero. The net result for them here is negative.

Wow.
As an impartial observer let me just say one thing:
You CN/Bytecoin whoever the fuck you are posters coming out of the woodwork like this is incredibly transparent.
Just stop. You're doing more harm to yourselves then good.
I own no CryptoNote coins whatsoever at the moment. I've traded some BBR and XMR on short time frames , trying to get in and out in time when they bubble.
Also,
Lukejr, if you're reading this. Do you really think it's possible for Bitcoin to integrate ring signatures? I assumed this was impossible.
Does anyone know if it's possbile to do such a thing? This is exciting news if it's plausable. My current view is that it's probably "possible" but completely unfeasable for a Bitcoin based technology to under go such a change.
Wow you should probably read the whole thread rather than the first post.. Another "senior" member who needs to point out he only invested a little, or traded XMR and has no horse in the race but feels the need to point out what a scam Cryptonote is, despite the first post being proven to be false. How many of you guys are in on the XMR pump and dump? Must be big money riding on this... I've read the whole thread and posted quite a few times through out it. I have absolutely no involvement with Monero. I wrote that in the interest of full disclosure. It's honestly obvious what's happening here to anyone who goes through it. Does anyone in the world who's not involved with CN/Bytecoin really believe that Bytecoin came out two years ago? lol... It's just one of those things that are so ridiculous that I have to point them out. Because your insulting the intelligence of every single person who reads this post. I have no idea about whatever CN variant being made by the same people as BCN. Or whether or not crypto_zoidberg is really from the CN team. And I don't really care about those things very much to be honest. But the fact that there's a concerted effort to attempt to convince people that Bytecoin "came out on the deep web 2 years ago" is laughable.

I'll just post again quickly then Would you consider lowering your BTM fees? All the other pools are at 0.75-1%, you have a very good pool but people are leaving due to this, it would be great to see them come back, and also for the hashrate to be nicely distributed. Thank you for any consideration. Changed to 1% Next time I rent some hash I'll be sure to point it your way. Thanks.

Though inspired by their design, my codes are not exact copy-paste of XBtec. Parts I have designed separately to make the Sig unique and it seems people are loving it Yes, the sigs are quite nice. Especially the member one since it looks a lot bigger and more eye catching than any other member sig.

I just want to say that scrypt is not dying and regardless of what Litecoin does there are lots of currencies embracing scrypt. It turns out that ASICs are actually a good thing to have.

I need your code...
I think making another thread for this code maker contest would be easier for you to follow up the whole thing .
You may chose your Sig Code from the following... I don't have anything against RockerSingh posting them or using them. But I thought that coin.princess should know incase she might beleive that copying another sig from another company might reflect poorly on Win88.

Is the contest still on? Details were pretty vague lol. Just wondering~
Yes the contest is on. 0.25BTC to top referrer by Thursday, August 28th at 00:00 EST (12 noon Hong Kong Time) I think he might have been talking about the sig design contest. I hope you don't choose one of those super obnoxious sigs. It would go against the design principals of the site imo(which are quite nice imo).

Hi, I would like to enroll the campaign if it's still possible. My Win88 account name is estenuno. Please confirm. Thanks. Just a reminder in case you missed me.

It's something that attracts a lot of negative comments from people. Since it's a form of centralisation. Although your proposal is less centralised.
Most people seem to forget though that every cryptocurrency natually starts out as centralised and evolves torwards decentralisation as time goes on. It's part of the process with the ultimate goal being fully decentralised of course.
