http://www.devfactor.net/2014/12/30/2375-amazon-mistake/

What do you think the chances are that they actually mean that it mines XMR here? Someone with the skills to steal all those API keys wouldn't be stupid enough to actually waste the EC2 clouds mining BTC I'd imagine.

Yes, I hear that anyone can start up a free AWS trial with a prepaid CC (gift card etc) with a small amount on the card, then milk it until they get cancelled. Rinse and repeat. I don't do such a thing myself, but it could explain the massive dumps - they have no cost.

Yeah, it's not just AWS either. Any cloud company with any sort of free trial gets exploited too. It's just a question of how fast they shut you down once they see mining going on. I think I've seen people post about Digital Ocean quickly shutting them down for mining.

If you know me, you know where I stand.  I despise scams and bad math.  That leaves only one.

How is BBR with full network level anonymity via Telepathy scam or bad math?

Looks to me like it's a similar way of achieving what using XMR with I2P integration is aiming for.
403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitShares PTS upgrade to DPoS is launched on: December 31, 2014, 08:39:11 PM

It was not a fork, it was a snapshot and a new genesis block was initialized from that. The problem arises, as I3 found out after the merger/inflation (or whatever term alphaBar prefers), that the chain lives on as long as there are miners.

Ah, this is a sticky situation then as the decentralised original chain can't just be killed off, I see. I see what some of the controversy is about here.

The idea of a new DPoS currency has value in itself as it's a pretty innovative idea. Maybe it would have been better to start fresh though.
404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitShares PTS upgrade to DPoS is launched on: December 31, 2014, 05:21:03 PM
Was AGS or PTS a regular mined PoW Bitcoin fork at some point?

AGS was never liquid, PTS was a PoW coin with momentum algo which favoured CPU mining. After BTS inflated and gave away 7% to PTS and announced that any commitment to PTS is over, the price and consequently the hashrate dropped and the coin was almost dead.

alphaBar with support of some PTS holders decided to release a DPoS version of PTS with a snapshot taken on 14th Dec. Some exchanges like Bter accepted this alphaBar PTS as the 'real' PTS and keeps trading it, others like Btc38 considered PTS as done and delisted it.

So was PTS written from scratch by i3? I'm curious as to how easy it was for them to simply switch it over to DPoS. And I also wonder how viable doing that would be for existing PoW currencies.

It sounds like in this case some people have a large amount of PTS or something and want to get whatever they can out of it. I remember noticing when PTS went down like 90% or whatever and I knew that i3 must of depreciated it or whatever(no more snapshots for DAC shares or whatever).

SUPERNET = legit & FAIR

Yes, it was the (now deleted) 'double your crypto in 100 hours' that comment was directed at. I don't know, call me cynical, but something just didn't seem right about it.

Cheesy

That was a pretty funny post. Seems mods don't waste any time in clearing out that type of trash either. Tongue
409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: December 30, 2014, 05:36:32 PM
I feel this is a betrayal of loyal BBR investors/supporters.  Why not eventually add POS to BBR?  Is there any plan to distribute any of the new coins to BBR bag holders?
 Cry

I've chosed second way. Befor new year we going to release new GUI, and next release will be the new wallet mode, that actualy utilize fully anonymouse outputs feature. But still, if someone don't like this my attitude - i don't have time and intention to convince you - feel free to quit.

Zoidberg

are u gonna be able to release new gui before new year ?

Part of that probably depends on how many people are helping to test it I'd assume.

That is actually a really nice graph. I don't think I'd looked at it from this far out. Kind of amazing considering this is during one of the worst bear markets in years.
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SuperNET updates on: December 29, 2014, 06:23:58 PM

rofl, pwnt.

Your retort, mr_random?  Cheesy

Didn't think so.

I don't think Apenzl understands english that well. Or yourself clearly. Several supernet holders trolled Blocknet hard, calling it a scam that wouldn't deliver anything. Yet Blocknet has started delivering. And all those claims have suddenly gone quiet.

I didn't say Blocknet was further ahead with development or try to imply that.

Great maturity and intelligence from the Supernet community once again. Keep it up guys, very classy.

Who from SuperNET was trolling Blocknet threads? Only person I remember somewhat regularly posting in them was EvilDave and he's more of a Nxt guy in general and I don't specifically remember him trolling, but it's possible he could have said something along the lines of what you mention.

Really a lot to read, is there some kind of overview or roadmap, for an easy overview what
is coming next?

From Bitmark PM Medic:

Good Day,

Everyone, within our ever-expanding Bitmark Community, should be well aware of the direction our Project is going. The discourse and contributions made over the past few weeks have allowed us to refine our focus.

Mark shall develop the fundamental aspects of the Marking. If there are any aspects of this project that you feel compelled to contribute to, we appreciate and encourage your assistance as we drive forward with development.

Sound like three mostly unrelated projects to me. Not sure where the comparison comes in.
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZiftrCoin Maths: offering 1600 Ziftrs per 1BTC with a promise 1 Dollar per Ziftr on: December 27, 2014, 03:59:37 PM
Ziftr promises to redeem 1 ZiftrCoin for 1 Dollar at merchants yet is giving 1600 ZiftrCoin's for 1 BTC  how is the maths going to work?
https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/ziftrcoin-crowdsale-passes-500-000-174858520.html

I'm not sure I entirely understand you question, but I'll try and answer it.

The current rate for ziftrCoins in the presale is 1 btc for 1260 ziftrcoins. With bitcoin worth about $330 (as I type this) that puts ziftrcoins at about 26 cents each at the moment.

Our website will offer a $1 redemption value for coins when you shop using our site. If the market value or volume is too low then there will be a limit of 5% of your purchase paid for with ziftrCoin. So think of ziftrCoins like coupons that work at any of our merchants (and can typically be combined with other coupons). This discount is basically us giving our advertising dollars to shoppers to drive usage of our coin (and other cryptocurrency).

That seems like a system that will collapse within a month.

I don't know any details but it could work like that if they have good affiliate deals or something or they're selling stuff directly with enough of a profit margin.

Getting people to buy the coin to get discounts on shopping could be a decent idea, I honestly don't know. Sounds plausible though.

It sounds a hell of a lot better than Paycoin's plan...
415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Untraceable cryptocurrency ( Poll ) on: December 27, 2014, 03:48:48 PM

Also ShadowCash has the first GUI wallet for a cryptonote based anon-coin.

What? There have been many different cryptonote GUI wallets released over the last 6 months or so.

There have?  Which ones?  I know Monero does not have a GUI wallet, but only a web based wallet.  But SDC wallet is amazing, with many advanced features like encrypted chat, and soon to be a decentralized marketplace.

I know Boolberry has had a wallet for a long time now and they just had a guy redo it and upgrade it too. I don't know any details but I think Bytecoin(scam) and Quazar(dead?) had GUI wallets a long time ago too.

Also some dude made a windows .NET XMR wallet back in the summer. Like the person above said, it's just not an official wallet from the XMR devs.

Looking for someone to make a cool SN signature
Looking for a good web dev for a pretty simple task for project Pangea (1-5 days.)
I posted this to #services too. Slack or not.. give me a PM if you are interested in either or both and let's see if we can agree upon something

And merry christmas to everyone, I think (know) 2015 will be the year for SuperNet and Pangea!

Post this in proper section and you will get response.

I'll post it there too! I was posting it here because maybe someone already within SuperNet slack can/wants to do it, but since we are already over 300 people, a lot of stuff there get lost in the noise.

but noted, it does no good for the discussion in here, but on the other hand it may do good to the value of SN.

so I'll take a chance with it, I hope you can bear with me!

Not sure what the "proper section" would be. I'd think it would be right here actually. Tongue
418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Untraceable cryptocurrency ( Poll ) on: December 26, 2014, 12:13:00 PM
Boolberry(BBR) for unlinkable inputs and BTCD's Teleport for network level anonymity and other features(definitely not TOR) used together via SuperNET.

That will be the best way afaict at this point.

419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2014 in review, coinmarketcap top 40 month by month on: December 26, 2014, 08:28:19 AM
Thanks. Chrome tells me not to click though.

Firefox here. It keeps throwing up a "connection is untrusted" message.

I think the cert expired or something. I wouldn't worry about OP or his website, he's one of the (very few) good guys in alts.
420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: I NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP TO DESIGN NEW LAND BACKED CRYPTO COIN on: December 25, 2014, 05:34:04 PM
Yeah, what you should be looking at here is a crypto asset rather than a currency itself. People keep launching currencies when there's really no reason at all to when there's already multiple decentralised asset platforms out there. Nxt, Counterparty, Qora are some. And I'm sure there's others out there. Nxt and Counterparty are probably the most popular though. I find Nxt's asset exchange to work very well.

If you really want a currency then yeah like the person said above Nxt monetary system is looking good and could work as well.
