Hey guys just looked at the new website and I guess its broken or wasn't registered right or someone forgot to pay the bill. This coin won't last long like this.... Undecided

Ok.. So the main thread is showing a bad link or an old site instead of silkcoin.io its showing silkcoin.co.

Yeh got some old links in the ANN.  Changed those links.   Silkcoin.io is at the very top of the page in large letters for now for quick reference.

@Arteleis if you wanna learn how to restore a coin with great success I think Honorcoin is a good example atm. But yeah they had it a bit more easy because they made it 2.0 and we stick to 1.0

Keep your good work going!

Vootcoin is also a great example of a coin restored sucessfully Smiley

Good people will triumph.  It is good to hear of other coins recoveries from dishonorable actions.  Hopefully one day we all function together.
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SILKCOIN][POS][TAKEOVER] on: July 26, 2014, 08:22:34 AM
Arteleis can you give me a short update on the 1.1 Update which is currently in developing as you say on page 1.

I think at the moment you more fixing the old stuff and thanks for that great work!

Back to the Update I dont think you want to release all together and I cannot believe that you work on everything at the same time. So can you give me a small insight which of these features will be first priority and what do you think is the time frame? 1 week? 1 month?

Thank you very much.

well this sucks the block chain got stuck so i cleared everything and started from block 0 and now it hangs up after every ~500 blocks and I have to restart the wallet at this rate i'll be sync'd by christmas......and YES I have the latest wallet version

Did you unzip the blockchain file into appdata?  There are a few sticks in 500 increments around 60k. Believe the blockchain download gives you to 90.

Old devs did a very poor fork at 60, we are working on it but process is slow. If you use the blockchain download it shouldnt be a prob.  Else a few restarts should fix the problem.  Believe sticks are 60k, 60.5, 61, and 61.5

Good work Lorenzo!

Everyone check out the new website, optimized for mobile and desktop across all browsers.

Post your review!

http://silkcoin.io/

Wonderful!!!!

The only thing is that I cannot get the background from the dashboard on the new wallet
Do I have to delete the old data before launching the new wallet(1.0.9.3)?
I know it's a minor thing but I've donated 5000 SC only to get the wallet look like that, Love that background

Also I downloaded the source code from the site and opening the INSTALL file gives me this

"Building BlackCoin
See doc/readme-qt.rst for instructions on building BlackCoin QT,
the intended-for-end-users, nice-graphical-interface, reference
implementation of BlackCoin.
See doc/build-*.txt for instructions on building blackcoind,
the intended-for-services, no-graphical-interface, reference
implementation of BlackCoin."

Shouldn't be Silkcoin there instead of Blackcoin?

Apparently it's a copy and paste

Yep it sure was.  Hence why the client died and all the exchanges froze the coin and the developers ran away.  This has been no easy fix.
In hindsight, it would have been far easier to start an entirely new coin, do a complete relaunch, go to version 2 or something along these lines..  But the comm did not want this. I did not want this either.  There has been far more work put into repair then there has been in development of the massive bank of ideas that could have already been accomplished.  Changing an old install file should not be a big issue.

And in regards to my previous comment, there has also been massive forward motion of the bank of ideas from the comm.  What everyone is going to see from Silkcoin will far surpass anything the previous devs and comm dreamed of.

This is not just a coin.  It truly is a revolution.

We are Silkcoin.

The wallet with the slick background is in beta testing.  Please add hanzlambrecht@gmail.com to google chats and you can snatch a sneak peek there.

Yep that looks like something that should be changed. lol   It will be updated. Thank you.
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SILKCOIN][POS][TAKEOVER] on: July 24, 2014, 10:20:24 PM
There is a variety of issues that may have caused this.

The solution should be to enter into %appdata%/roaming/silkcoin

Right click on wallet.dat and save a copy in a safe place.

Delete everything but wallet.dat file and unzip blockchain download into silkcoin folder then run client again.

You also can skip the bc download and resync again.  If problem persists please pm and we'll investigate further.

Which version?
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SILKCOIN][POS][TAKEOVER] on: July 24, 2014, 06:54:29 PM
Things moving along very nicely.

things will move first slowly and steadily then it will take some pace.

Yes, we are building a very strong foundation, and are already much further ahead in quality of code and client, developers, community support and involvement, then previously seen in Silkcoin.

We are still in whisper mode, and are not taking the bullshit marketing tactics of a scam coin; giving false hopes and promises which make a few wealthy off of trades before they move to the next coin and crash the market.
We are making sure that what is released is solid, instead of giving in to fear of project timeline failure based on price alone.
The technology and innovations will speak for themselves. The goal is to release the techs properly and professionally.  The aim is to only schedule release dates when projects are fully complete and tested, as opposed to scheduling releases of techs that are not finished, or perhaps not even started.  This is a recipe for disaster of which effects have been seen numerous times in crypto.

Welcome to the new faces in the thread.  Please feel free to post comments and suggestions!  Wink

Minor thing to consider, The "Strong Community" pop-up under "Why Silkcoin" reads "...,polls will be held to decide of the future of our coin". I think it should read "polls will be held to decide the future of our coin".

Also, can you announce when and where the silk/btc donations go? As a donator/invester I would like to know when the funds are dispersed.

Thx

The funds are held by badass.sx escrow services. To date only one payment (block explorer) has been taken from the escrow.
What was required to do this by badass, was for me to provide the relevant donations and prove there had been no disagreement in the thread.
This is obviously not the ideal method, and will be updated once the voting system is complete.

Dev payments and purchases to date have been donated by myself personally in excess of 300k silk and equivalent to; and through the bounty list.

I understand that the community escrow is a delicate subject, and before any further spending should happen, the voting system will need to be in place, and elect signing officers chosen for multisig options we are looking into.

The comm payment system is obviously not complete at this point, and why i chose to donate in the amounts that i have to keep escrow reserved for the future management decisions.  I regards to developer payments, they were not requested, but i felt the need to pay them for all of their hard work in lieu of comm funds requiring a proper system for release.

It is also to be noted that the comm owes badass .05btc for escrow services.  Again as in last payment, i will need to see posts of agreement and no discontent by comm in order to make payment.

If there is disagreement, i will pay personally, but i believe that is a very fair price for his offer and our use of his escrow services.  After the amount of 10btc or equuvalent, there is no charge for his services.

Nice to see! Are you guys following any other coins that also seem to be making a quiet but sure progress and building up to a breakthrough?

To me it looks like Motocoin has interesting developments coming ahead and my other target - PayProCoin is well, simply undervalued and underpromoted, when considering the liable manpower and registered companies behind it, as well as the beautifully destroyed premine - will be interesting to see when they finally get the coin sold for cash at partner stores in UK.

Please keep posts relevant to silkcoin.  Thanks.

hey, is anyone working on that idea of a distributed marketplace?

I have recently purchased very innovative software, that is currently under development.  The developer is very keen to tailor it to suit our needs.
It will allow users to hold and type of coin they like, have multiple wallets of each, apply multisig to payments, choose any graphics theme they like, and be able to buy and sell p2p with only a public key.  The server does not hold any private key data, and if in the event of an attack, all database is backed up, remotely wiped and sms response goes to dev team.
Security is currently being worked on involving the system of escrow between trades or bets, as well as multiple ideas of payment systems and trade arrangements.
Users will also have the ability to trade silk for any other cryptocurrency we add, as well as the discussed usd payment processors such as perfect money, nix money, webmoney, moneygram etc.
This is an entirely web based application currently and of course looking to move forward into mobile once developed fully.
If anyone is interested in helping to build this project further, please comment or pm me as it is in its earliest of development stages in regards to Silk and a distributed marketplace.

Correct me if I'm wrong.  But isn't ether the fuel for the blockchain application tool?  I'm not sure the price of ether is relevant.. but what can be done with it is..
619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SILKCOIN][POS][TAKEOVER] on: July 22, 2014, 09:57:41 PM
What is the status with bholzer?

Bholzer has nothing to do with this project.

I still keep wondering how this dude managed to convince me about his credibility with all his cheap talk...

I really wonder if Bholzer will ever come on board or not, it seem alot of the stuff he said was all talk anyway, (eg, updating to latest bitcoin core)

He may be a very good dev indeed, but seriously, i dont see murraycoin going anywhere soon. Correct me if im wrong. lol

bee nice eezzz  lol

His words gave us hope, which can always be thanked for, but I'm fairly certain that bholzer, as well as a lot of devs I've communicated with.. stopped replying once they actually viewed the code we started with here...  as far as coding goes, bishop and palm must be given extreme props for what they've went through.. to the point we've gotten to, they have both spent an incredible amount of their spare time (if not all of it), completely rewriting nearly everything that makes this client function..  What we were left with, was completely out of the league or want of the majority of devs to repair..
And if not out of their league, it would be apparent that the countless hours were far too much to contribute to what we were previously called as a 'doomed to fail' 'ragtag'
'unorganized' 'hopeless' group of grass roots individuals who were only trying to recoup their losses anyways.. for everyone involved (which I believe now is this entire thread) we know that this is not the case.  What has been achieved so far in this takeover has never happened in crypto.  And what will happen in the future has never happened in the world.

I have not deleted a single post by any user.  There is nothing, that can be thrown at us that cannot be explained, worked on, and achieved.

We are Silkcoin.  We are the future.  We are Revolution.

The camel marches on.   Cool

I noticed there is no link to silkcoin.io in the OP. Maybe need to be added?

Yeh, it was kind of a test site.  Ha we got beta everything.  Actually a new site being built that is going to blow that one out of the water.  Based on the majority feedback of the site, we have to step it up a notch. Or 5.

Remember right now that we are all the beta crew. We are still whispering, and none of the marketing has been officially launched.

The comm truly is building this coin, there are hundreds of suggestions for every aspect of what is being built and all the devs are taking each one into serious consideration and basing changes on priorities to get solid releases.

We are still whispering camels folks.  Im happy and proud to be a part of what is happening here.

Should I add it to the Ann? Or wait for the community refined site?

Add it.  Any progress is good to show people we're alive.  It will also make the new more amazing site look that much better Smiley

Everything everyone says is noted and added and then worked on.

There are of course discussions and other plans being worked on in areas such as email and gchat, cell phones, whatever it takes to move forward.

Once an item is released for beta we add it to wunderlist, and work on all the review items of the comm.

Not just the devs that are doing good work, we are all doing fucking good work.

Like I said, proud to be a part of this community!   Grin

p.s. yes.. my girlfriend added a shopping list to my private wunderlist. haha  Think was baguettes and some eggs and stuff.. ya know for transparency purposes.  But I won't be asking for a community review on that list.  Wink

Glad you downloaded the screenshot aiding the description of my "minimize on close" bug Wink

Haha sorry haven't added the minimize on close bug to the wunderlist yet, but has been forwarded to the devs and will be added soon.  It may not be a priority for this release, but will be added for next one for sure.  If we can fix it for this one, your wish is our command.  (-:
