LOL, interesting theory about my secret identity.

...maybe I'll promise the world, promptly vanish for three days and then you'll know it was "me" all along  Wink

Ben

P.S. Working on a community org chart right now, will post the framework soon.

LOL - remember though it was bholzers words that pulled us all together.  For that he can always be thanked.

Was going to release tonite.  But think saturday is a fair equilibrium.  Think people dont realize that 1.0.9.3 is actually a much better client then when silkcoin was at its height.  A lot of sloppy coding in it has been fixed.

If you think your changes were a lot, just wait until you see how much crap I cleaned up in 1.0.9.4!!!
I can see why the other devs walked away.  They were in way over their heads.

Still finding a few minor bugs and there are a lot of cosmetic things I would like to clean up, but right now I'm focused on functionality, stability, and reliability.
I am still hoping to get this released tonight to the members on Trello for additional testing.

And a new God is born.   Grin

Yes you are correct,  Wednesday is crazy. Saturday latest? I will do what I can to see about a new dev with C++. I know one guy so let's see if he'll commit.

As I have previously stated I have silkcoin.us ready for the community to use. I have also disclosed my full Id and email. Just to reiterate I am Marc Fortenberry.  Look me up on facebook, linkedin, or btcjam. I have no problem revealing who I am for this community.  I am pretty much a noob in this but I do have about two hours a day I can devote to this. I am open to suggestions as to what my role can be. Please read previous posts as I have stated this before. I love silk and want this coin to succeed.  As this is a holiday weekend in USA let's wait till the weekend is over to hear from bholzer. If no communication then let's take control and finalize a plan no later than Wednesday.  Give a shit now about stepping on toes, let's get this done. There are plenty of devs that can do what we need. Thank you.

Yessir, your name will be on Ann thread with c++ skills added to it as an active contributor.  stoked to see the work you're conquering.

Wednesday eh? it is like 35 days in crypto time..

Ben's Bounties

Here are the bounties I'm happy to offer, and more will come as we make progress.

5,000 - for 10 positive news and promo Tweets from a crypto-related account with more than 1000 followers.
5,000 - for securing www.silkcoin.co and transferring control to the webmaster our community nominates. Invoice and whois confirm required for payout.
25,000 - for designing and publishing a new website at www.silkcoin.co ... our new public face!
25,000 - for coding and publishing a new wallet using Bitcoin Core 0.9.2.1 ... Windows to start.
(Basically this bounty is about somebody doing what bholzer said he would do. See OP for details. As I'm not a coder myself, I will pay this particular bounty after the work is confirmed valid and functional by other, more experienced members of the community.)

The funds have been transferred to the following wallet:
B8NN3ANBqfu7Sde8GbvWBNcdBuiqLLmnEB
As they're coins entirely from my holdings, I will pay them out as each task is completed. PM me on here if you're entitled to one.

From my comparative analysis I firmly believe that SilkCoin has a current intrinsic value around 800 SAT, but is depressed below that because of recent news/trauma.
Getting us up to a liquid trading range of 1200-1800 SAT is really not going to be too difficult, with some hard work and applied collective brainpower.
So these bounties are worth more than you think  Cool

Ben

Awesome man.  I will match your bounties.
850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: July 04, 2014, 12:54:44 AM
It would be ridiculous to abandon this coin and start a whole new one. There are a lot of positive things that we can build on with this coin.

I do think that a rename to Silk will be better, but future will tell if the community agrees in the polls. Also change the ticker to SLK.

I think as soon as we gathered some devs to start a new ANN for a relaunch and also for a rebrand. I really hopes this will happen this weekend.

EDIT: My wallet isn't staking.

Coins are mature enough.
Wallet unlocked.
No reserve balance
Lightning bolt is saying that it is staking, but I don't receive anything, for 12 hours now?

Anyone?

Try restarting the client. Mine is staking right now.

During testing I have uncovered a few more bugs with the market data APIs, but I have made great progress and have fixed all of the ones I have found so far.  Next round of testing starts...now()!

Awesome Good work man!

  • mbishop75, thank you very much for offering your services -- when I'm back home tonight I'll construct a proper Org Chart that we can fill in, make sure that no efforts are duplicated.

Right now nobody should be concerned with "stepping on toes"... let's just get the work done. We're all in this mission together and nobody's ego should be a factor.

Ben

Thank god.  I swore for a second he was asking for SIN numbers.  Lol no offense. Saw SIN number requests and CEO mentions.. for a second was nervous at the loss of the entire crypto philosophy and the beginning of corporate venture.

Just took a look at bholzer's profile. He hasn't been online on the forums for two days. If anyone can contact him outside this board, it would be a good idea to let him know of the current status.

Sounds good but he does not put anything here for a long time, I think he could get at least a 2 minutes and keep the community updated

I agree.  It takes two seconds to reply to a thread, no excuses.  He's not interested in helping SC anymore and I can't really blame him since Murraycoin has been a great success.  It's a shame he didn't have more class to at least reply to a PM or a post a message to let the community know.

arteleis, I say start a new thread.  If he decides to come back, he can message us there.  Now about these devs you have:

1.) How many of them are there?
2.) Are they on the forum or trello (do not need to be identified at this time)?
3.) What kind/amount of compensation do they want?
4.) How do you know them?
5.) What's their programming background?

I will list all this in the new thread later tonite.
854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: July 03, 2014, 08:30:56 PM
Now would be a good time for anybody who has made contributions to this rebuilding thread to put their hand up, to nominate themselves for a defined, accountable position within the team.

- CTO
- Programmers
- Visual Design Manager
- Web Dev
- Social Media Coordinator
- Thread Moderator
- Treasurer/Escrow Manager

... for example

Ben

All this on trello board.
855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: July 03, 2014, 07:18:31 PM
Don't know how many times I need to say it, but I am a professional C/C++/C# developer and will volunteer my services.
Last night I spoke with arteleis about the market data bugs and I already have fixes that I'm testing now.

Once I'm done testing my fixes, I'll submit to arteleis for release on GitHub.

Also, I sent two messages to bholzer offering to help, but got no response.  My offer still stands and don't want to step on toes, nor do I want to waste my time fixing things that are being fixed in another branch of code.

You're in Bishop.  We definitely want your help.  Start a card on the "Doing" section and tell us what you're working on. (market/data fixes, correct?).  The other volunteer developers we get can create their own cards of what they would like to do and then everyone can get on the same page.  For now it's important to work in sequence so there's no code changes going on simultaneously until we get a workspace setup (which we can't do until we get the devs sorted).  For now, let's have some volunteer devs literally take turns upgrading the wallet?

Right now nobody should be concerned with "stepping on toes"... let's just get the work done.[/u] We're all in this mission together and nobody's ego should be a factor.

Exactly, let's just kick some ass.  As long as we don't fork the code, people can check the trello board and just run with things that need to be done.  End of story.

Agreed

The concern the whole time was the worry about stepping on toes.  Forward motion, community involvement and unprecidented organization and implementation are key.
The voting platform, as i suggested in trello, inside the wallet, would be revolutionary in crypto.  It would give investors direct voting input that not only decides the direction of the coin, but supports the development lf features decided upon.
Also gives the community a chance to effectively remove those who are not doing their job or dedicated service.

Ethereal, the reasoning behind my post comes down to these key points:

  • We need to immediately consolidate our efforts, shedding connections with any toxic/inaccessible assets.
  • We need a defined management structure, identifying each participant and his specific role. People will be responsible for their tasks, rewarded accordingly.
  • We need to immediately and proactively hire a new developer, someone with a proven track record. The reality is that anybody who volunteers pro bono is not going to be as dedicated or as skilled as this coin requires right now. ... Arteleis, if you have confirmed devs who are 100% on board, we'll want at least their SN's on record.

Again, I will be putting up bounties tonight, starting with a 60,000 SC block, and I will be happy to donate more after the first ones are claimed.

Ben

I see what you are trying, its not the effort people putting in to SC, its how.
Despite off the efforts Bholder is putting in to SC, its not a developer who safe the coin now.

Developers learn, and most off them learn fast, one or two dev's with knowledge about coin development, and 4-5 devs learning along the way is also a option.

But first SC need 1 at most 2 persons who can setup a new team, both should be backed by the community.
Without it its gonna be a mess.

Roel.

Sorry what do you mean by SN number?  Youll notice the contributions on github and where they came from.

For new thread, we'll make a list of who is on board and post.  Currently work done is placed on the bounty reccomendations and will need to be paid out once this economy is complete.
I donated about 45k silk for the client upgrades directly to the dev to ensure stable client before release.  Also wanted to ensure that there was the largest base of silk for chosen development by community and new team.
I have more silk to donate for the development of this project and benefit of the community.

A team of 5 or more full time devs is of course the best plan and i believe is what everyone is working towards.

Essentially what it sounds like we need is a board of directors who run the shoes and make quick decisions but still have a democratic infrastructure in place to make larger overarching decisions as well as eleviating bad seeds. The foundation is the most important thing. Take time with it. Get it right. Everything is built upon it and it better be damn level.

Exactly.  The united states of bitcoin.  Paid for in silk.
859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: July 03, 2014, 05:23:34 PM
Despite now being at my office, I will take what free moments I have to start posting my ideas.

First:
Arteleis, do you have admin privileges on this thread?
We need to sticky the Trello board link at the top of each page, which can be done by spoofing it as a survey.
Trello is a fantastic organizational platform and will be key to us making real progress.

https://trello.com/b/YfCUpW9h/silk-coin-rebuilding

Also, I suggest you remove the lamp & treasure wallpaper -- it's blingy, but in my opinion is amateurish and distracting. I think a washed version of the camel graphic would be optimal. I can provide a Photoshop'ed version tonight if you let me know the correct resolution.

Ben

No no privledges on this thread.  Will need to relaunch new one.

Haha yeh the camel and lamp can go.  Will replace with logos instead.  Threw everything up fast.

Hello SilkCoin Community,

My name is Benjamin Koslik.
I live in Toronto, Canada.
I'm a significant SilkCoin stakeholder, and have been steadily buying, including as recently as this morning.
I'm typically a sidelines investor, but have been inspired to come on board here to offer my expertise.
Yes, I registered for BCT specifically to join this team.
SilkCoin deserves to succeed. From the hard work and passion I see here, with people like Arteleis leading, it will succeed.

I'm here to help.

I have a job and need to leave for it right now.
But I will be back this evening and have a ton of ideas for how we can streamline and turbocharge SilkCoin's rebirth.

I also have a block of SilkCoin to donate for bounties, totalling 60,000 SC. This will be discussed tonight.

Enjoy the day, be excited about our future!

Ben

Awesome man, welcome!
