damn I missed that deal!! I'll be looking closer now. lots of ppl are selling.. Oh well, there loss our gain!!
TBH it looks like HYP is still going down. When max gen kicks in December 6th ( Assuming this is correct) prices should either spike up briefly and stabilize. Right now I need some BTC to buy some HYP though I sort of cringe a bit when I hear "when inflation control kicks in" or phrases like that (nothing personal against you mtwelve, everyone has been saying it). Ask yourself, have you been sizing your outputs/blocks differently than you would if there was no 1,000 HYP max stake reward? If the answer is yes, then this is proof that inflation control has already kicked in. Now the question of "max gen" kicking in. Well this is a bit misleading as well, because there is a large chance that we don't see every single stake in one day hit the limit. I think it was biomech that pointed this out, that it is much more likely that we get close to the max coin supply expansion per day, but that it will vary from day to day near that range. What exactly is "Max Gen" are you referring to the max of 1k per block that is staking per every 30 days? or is it something else entirely?
See http://hyperstake.wikia.com/wiki/Max_generation with presstab's thoughts: The max generation by definition is when each stake will be 1,000 HYP, thus hitting the ceiling each time. Right now we are about halfway to max generation. I don't think we will hit max generation for a long time, because people will always be trying to size their blocks small enough to get rewards that are less than 1,000. I think what really is going to happen is that there will be a fight to stay under max generation, this will mean smaller blocks, and smaller blocks will mean higher difficulty.

(Two carefully selected quotes to make me appear as the Bad Guy) How surprising that you did not quote my answers further down the discussion (both of them). I could almost believe you have an agenda... Not making excuses here, but I would suspect a lot of the comments are reactionary to the blatant attack on HYP and few weeks back (and still in progress). Sadly it seems everyone is jockeying for the top spot in the POS coin world. Hopefully everyone will calm down and worry about their own coin soon enough. That would mean lowering myself to the level of the fudders - instead, I created FUD_FAQ. Plus, AFAIK, iGotSpots (or Snowball) was not involved in the attacks against HYP. Correlation is not causation

I've said this at least 20 times now and it's not like we are calculating fees differently than other coins do, just use a higher amount You should consider setting up a FAQ, then Always glad to see more experimentation going on!

Here we go again Why "again"? As I said, success bring people and the first versions of HYP wallet where not that great either (even though we already have coin control and a decently-named .pro file). Things in the code are the way they are for a reason. It's already been discussed why certain features are not being added, as well as why things are named the way they are Thank you. I may browse the thread for answers.

So guys, what is the best block size currently to have the best return on stacking?
My best guess, somewhere between 2K and 3K HYP. Difficulty keeps going up, so anything beyond that will risk hitting the max reward limit. If difficulty starts dropping, you could would also do well with slightly larger blocks (up to ~4K), but it's unlikely that the average daily difficulty will drop. Happy staking! - High risk/high reward: 4K
- Normal: 3.3K
- Risk adverse: 2.4K
2.4K comes from personal observation: I had a 2.5K block hitting the wall last week. Also http://bit.ly/hypsize

Every day the price doesn't decrease 14% you gain profit. I apologize in advance, but I just can't resist Now to prove you my good faith: I wanted to see what the competition has to offer. So far, I am unimpressed by the code (I just finished compiling it on Linux), but I also that with success people with better coding ability can come. So you still have a chance You are helping reducing carbon footprint, which is good (you could have avoided generating extra carbon footprint by just forklaunching Maieuticoin, but well... what is done is done.

New winners for this round. 5 instead of 4 (the normal maximum) because of a human error - wickedsick
- denis72
- UroCEO
- Swag
- awangn6600
awangn6600, I need your address (a dedicated one).

A community driven and decided massive buy wall would be a nice way to secure the price of HYP if everyone agreed to buy at a certain price (2k for example) we could get several BTC worth on one order creating a nice wall for HYP.
HyperShield phase IV. By the way, where is the reddit tipbot you promised? David, I already told you that Swag is a known scammer, not sure why you chose him... Because I forgot to update I will choose some one else. If swag happens to give the money back at the end of the 30 days, so much the better. If not, he will be on the Wall of Shame and I will have lost 4K.

How to increase your chances: - Every week, you get a +1
- Contributions give you an edge. This is subjective, you could win above a +10 with an excellent contribution
- Being recognized as active or worthy by the community
- Dedicated address in the list (not necessary to populate it with faucet): priority
- Other?
How to decrease your chances: - Having less than 100 posts at the time registering will get a -1
Candidates: (delisted: kliown) What you, as a winner (not just a candidate) will have to do: 1. Create a dedicated address (if this is not already done) in your wallet and post it on the forum, so that anyone can track the progress. If you don't know how to do so, just ask on the forum 2 Once you have received the 4K HYP, you will start posting on HyperLoan logs about your feedback. It can be just one posts several posts tracking your increasing understanding of HyperStake, questions... and of course, everyone can post there too. 3. At the end of the 30 days, you will send the principal (4k) back to the originating address pHypLoanFPWT6awN1TYRQ4v3wD3yY1n8KT (courtesy of iDunk). Happy loaning, happy stacking!

This is Monday, this is HyperLoan time This time, no less than FOUR winners - this is the maximum; there won't be five winners for week five. (update: Swag should not have been accepted, because he had not been cleared of his scamming accusations - I stand corrected and added, as an exceptional measure, a fifth winner - if Swag does not send the 4K back at the end of the 30 days period, though, he will be added on the wall of shame, which will provide more visibility to his scamming reputation, so he'd better send them back anyway). Winners are: +2 wickedsick - pFVxQp6VhMFDgjS9kqtcPG57Qce51uKEpf+1 denis72 - p8o4HNTBoiimkmnWSh2Cy8g326EtDuXAV1+1 UroCEO - p65vV1RHVBMVQtAqGFBksrBipGhSuWSEkj (on IRC) +1 Swag - pMWV9QohbMNV954p72gccGKeAGftgscRHa+3 awangn6600 Why some +3 or +2 did not win? Because they either did not give me their address or their address was not empty (address with 0.6 or the like are OK, as these is people who thought that adding some HYP from faucet was necessary, whilst it is not). What you, as a winner (not just a candidate) will have to do: 1. If not already done, create a dedicated address in your wallet and post it on the forum, so that anyone can track the progress. If you don't know how to do so, just ask on the forum 2 Once you have received the 4K HYP, you will start posting on HyperLoan logs about your feedback. @presstab It's all good, Not that big of a deal if it just a visual thing. Keep up the great work!! Wish I had the talent to pitch in.. We all have some talents and some of yours may be useful for HYP. PM me an email address and I can invite you to http://hyperstake.slack.com.

Thanks !
I just have downloaded HYPERSTAKE wallet-qt
My Address: pAXaGf6oNNJevd6pnQGoJP4UFU7mXbpNG6
I added you. Your address is not a dedicated address, you should create on just for this.
Thank you all for displaying your advancements. Again, paulson is giving useful advices that I suggest you to follow.

essentially I am trying to figure out whats the ideal size of block, Whilst i don't have the formula to hand, http://bit.ly/hypsizeBasically: 4K at your own risk, 3300 pretty safe bet. But I hit the wall sometime so I now am at 2400 (my smallest block to hit the wall was 2500).

Is HyperStake Version 1.0.7.2 a mandatory update?
I'm still on 1.0.6 is that ok yet? Not mandatory but you should upgrade. 1.0.6 is good, though (contrary to 1.0.6.5 or 1.0.7.1). If you don't upgrade, you just don't get some new features.

Updated version. Step 5, 6 should be temporary and 7 should eventually not need sudo. This tutorial requires using the terminal and is for an Ubuntu-based Linux (it requires ppa, so won't work with other Debian-based). 1. If no previous non-DB version of Monero exists on this machine, install monero and choose option 1 then y (this is just for installing the dependancies) - download the blockchain (long) cd ~ && rm -f install_monero.sh && wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Quanttek/install_monero/master/install_monero.sh && bash install_monero.sh 2. Close bitmonero and simplewallet 3. Run this command. It will install liblmdb-dev and libunbound-dev and grab only the code you need (a variant of the code on a different directory, so it won't delete your working monero) sudo apt-get install libunbound-dev liblmdb-dev && mkdir -p ~/bitmonero-testing && cd ~/bitmonero-testing && rm -rf bitmonero && git clone https://github.com/tewinget/bitmonero.git --branch blockchain --depth 1 4. compile cd ~/bitmonero-testing/bitmonero && make 5. back up your blockchain cp ~/.bitmonero/blockchain.bin ~/.bitmonero/blockchain.bin-backup 7. [WORKAROUND] create /home/user/.bitmonero (no need to be an user, just the folder) sudo mkdir /home/user/ && sudo mkdir /home/user/.bitmonero 8. [WORKAROUND] copy the blockchain here sudo cp ~/.bitmonero/blockchain.bin /home/user/.bitmonero/blockchain.bin 9. Convert the blockchain with the new aptly-named "blockchain_converter" cd ~/bitmonero-testing/bitmonero/build/release/src && sudo ./blockchain_converter 10. Wait several dozen of minutes - you won't see anything, that's normal. If you want to check it is actually converting, open a new terminal and type top. The blockchain_conv process shall be consistently on top. 11. Start daemon and wallet, try some small transactions. Check the CPU and RAM also Use testnet, not mainnet. Better safe than sorry. Also, I have this issue so I can't go any further: sudo ./blockchain_converter block 0/364155 (0%) Error adding block to new blockchain: std::exception

Running things with sudo is bad habit. You should minimize root usage to minimum required, specially with cryptocurrencies related software. Replace 7. with: sudo mkdir /home/user/ && sudo chown <your_user_name>:<your_user_name> /home/user/ && mkdir /home/user/.bitmonero Then don't use sudo in any of the remaining steps.[...]
Thank you. Ideally, Quanttek will update his script and the /home/user part will be fixed so this won't be necessary anymore. Plus, I expect much people to just copy-and-paste, so as long as the command I give are sane, that should be OK. That being said, you point about minimising the use of sudo is one to remember.

Has anyone here either had the thought to do, or has accomplished steganographic wallet files?f Telestic steganography. Don't even need a file - Telestic steganography: get your mnemonic seed, place each word at the end (telestic, opposite of acrostic) of a line of text that makes sense and that's all. Pretend it is a poem you wrote. Have several copies.
- Evolution 1 ("Purloined Letter"/"hide in plain sight" version): use a nice design for your sheet, frame it, hang it on the wall.
- Evolution 2 (Rubberhose cryptography-proof): have a more regular wallet (with file and password) with a substantial amount of XMR in it that you are willing to sacrifice if needed to.
Tacotime, smooth or whoever is in charge of running the monero.cc website. Would you like me to help making it look a little more aesthetically appealing? I can't develop wallet code or anything, but I can make some website improvements. The design is ready for quite some time (and, no, I won't give you the URL of the new website ) We just need to add more content first
Can somebody here give the pros and the cons of Monero. Darkcoin vs Monero please. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=721045.msg8477489#msg8477489 For the pros. For the cons: hard to use at the moment + require long-term thinking
I have a Monero wallet with private key, but I do not want to wait for bitmonerod to sync.
Is there any web-wallet or similar where I can import the private key?Not yet but in the work and pretty well advanced.

This guide is for Unix (tested on Ubuntu) and assumes you have git installed as well as a lot of RAM (I tested on a 4GB laptop with SSD). Feedbacks (both negative and positive) welcomed! 0. Close bitmonerod and simplewallet 1. Install liblmdb-dev and libunbound-devsudo apt install liblmdb-dev libunbound-dev 2. Clone Thomas Winget's Monero branch cd ~ && git clone git://github.com/tewinget/bitmonero 3. Move to the right branch, "blockchain" cd bitmonero && git checkout blockchain 4. Replace any occurence of /home/user with /home/(your login) - you should have three nano ~/bitmonero/src/blockchain_converter/blockchain_converter.cpp ( ctrl+x then y to save) 5. compile 6. back up your blockchain cp ~/.bitmonero/blockchain.bin ~/.bitmonero/blockchain.bin-backup 7. [WORKAROUND] create /home/user/.bitmonero (no need to be an user, just the folder) sudo mkdir /home/user/ && sudo mkdir /home/user/.bitmonero 8. [WORKAROUND] copy the blockchain here sudo cp ~/.bitmonero/blockchain.bin /home/user/.bitmonero/blockchain.bin 9. Convert the blockchain with the new aptly-named "blockchain_converter" cd ~/bitmonero/build/release/src && sudo ./blockchain_converter 10. Wait several dozen of minutes. 11. Start daemon and wallet, try some small transaction. Check the CPU and RAM also

Right now, the entry price for HYP is extremely well priced for new people looking to enter the market. For those of you looking at HYP for the first time, consider taking up a small stake now, it will be worthwhile I'm sure. Amusing: this is exactly what BaconPumpSlicer wrote on trollbox: BaconPumpSlicer: davidlatapie, I find out about HYP, I find the price ridiculously perfect for embark on the adventure
