I am very excited and it's been an amazing experience working on SolarCoin projects this year. Also here is an update to the #solarcoinalphaproject Thank you very much Epiphany and Nick for mentions. It is truely inspirational to work with such a supportive communitiy that the SolarCoin people are with the cool people that founded it and then the great people working from the CCN team and the move to PoS. An update to progress of the Stand-alone Solar system on the balcony #solarcoinalphaproject. Remaining:5) Communication box wiring --> DONE6) Dry test and link to API. --> DONE7) Stability and running for 1-2 weeks. --> ONGOING Writing the white paper --> ONGOINGI am now in academic writing mode. I have another paper to present at WCPEC-6 next week in Kyoto on a similar topic so it is taking my time this week. But I will be writing this solarcoin paper shortly after and uploading it to Solcrypto.com. I have also recently realized that a stand alone self-powered "node" that supports the blockchain is really helpful. Each of the "nodes" are geographically diverse and all they need is an internet connection and the sun. The system that we have made is working on the 7th floor of a downtown Tokyo balcony and it is seriously getting shaded and away from the optimum solar conditions yet I charged my phone off it every few days, and it is running the monitoring infrastructure. A short update on my project called the #solarcoinalphaproject. I promised that the first version would be out by late October so I thought I had better inform about the schedules. I am running behind schedule. The goal of the project is more of a running proof of concept to show that an encrypted signal can be sent from a stand-alone PV system's API to any required receivers to accurately and securely prove the number of solarcoin's being generated by the system during daylight hours of operation. 0) Design completed. Electrical design and then some tests of the gateway and its communication to the software teams API. Completed. I had some initial road blocks here. 1) Components procured and delivered. So far it also includes a global pyranometer enabling the system to have a prediction mechanism inbuilt based on historical weather data for the location. 2) Weather proofing tested for battery box. 3) Power system DC Wiring half completed. 4) Meeting with software team completed. Understand tasks. Remaining: 5) Communication box wiring 6) Dry test and link to API. 7) Stability and running for 1-2 weeks. Writing the white paper (in parallel) to explain the prediction technology, the link to the API and possible further work ( I hope others can pick up from where I stop) i.e. secure blockchain calls and receives because my area of expertise is solar yield prediction technology, solar PV systems and PV monitoring systems, not networking security. It's nice to see SLR on the top page of Bittrex. All of the hard work people are putting in, is starting to show. I like the fact that there's some gridlock in the development of this coin too, it keeps hasty decisions from being made and prevents even smallest mistakes from turning into monumental faux pas. We're very lucky to have two very well learned, experienced, and venerable people at the helm. I think they bump the curve of experience in the crypto world honestly. Am I right in thinking its 16 CATc per block every 2 minutes? making it 480 coins per hour, 11520 per day and 4204800 per year? At that rate its going to get all mined out pretty quick and most likely dumped on exchanges. This could be a problem similar to that which MaxCoin had, they eventually choked of the supply to mimic the inflation curve similar to Bitcoin, interesting charts here http://maxcoinnews.net/maxcoin-public-service-announcement-19082014/Maybe now with the reduction in coins and changing of the algo the block reward should be adjusted also? With the new algorithm change we're reconsidering aspecs like the one you've quoted before @johnloco. Obviously we're working on a solid project so coin is going to mantain a mining base but with a new algorithm and aspirations. blockreward is going to be re-adjusted because all the total supply is going to be readjusted too. I'm assuming a buyback like cannabis coin after the switch from Scrypt to X11? If so I'll keep mining. |
