621  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] - Reward $100 | Antminer S1/S3 Blade on Raspberry Pi on: September 09, 2014, 09:16:11 PM
I'm getting an S1 in 2 days as a new toy to play with after the gridseed and zeus.
Considering what is the control board, I believe something can be done, but will almost for sure need custom firmware, and a few components.
I'll elaborate when I'll have the control board in hands, but it's not like splitting the data sent to one board to feed 2 or more boards.
I won't have the software skills to do it, but I'll probably have the hardware ones, if it can be done.
I've got my ear to the ground on that ma' friend!
I am convinced that those ribbon cables are simply rx/tx lines from a USB chip on the controller board. In my scheme of things, I was actually looking at running the boards without the bitmain controller board and simply powering them up and connecting to my own laptop's USB via a custom USB chip (I am guessing there are going to be at least 4 tx/rx lines per board) that can handle 4 lines then looking at kano's driver (I already have a miner) to run on a windows PC.

But hey, mine is probably more suited to me and will be in the works for a while now, nevertheless I await your results in a couple of days when you get your S1 (I personally want to use the boards from an S1 that I will be upgrading with the S3 kit).

You are right on the usb thing.
There is only 1 USB line from the atheros chip, and it's routed to some kind of USB hub on the board.
Then, each header is used for temp sensing, fan driving, and 1 usb line.

But the same atheros chip is used in the TPLINK 3020. I guess now, you understand what I'm looking for?

Hacking a TPlink firmware with the cgminer that supports the bitmain chips/boards is the easiest and most cost effective way to do it.

Then, the usb interface can be easily made with a simple and cheap PCB or even a usb cable to whatever pin header they are using.

Controling the temperatures and the fans would be lost if you use a simple usb cable.

I hope my explainations are clear enough so someone on the software side can implement them.
I started to look at this a few hours ago with nothing else than the schematics and a few pics of the board, so I don't have all the details yet, and I need the boards to work.

@Tupsu nice math.... but you're wrong. We have a bigger discount from Bitmaintech.

I'm not surprised discounts can be higher than 50% in some cases. not sure how much bitmaintech are doing, but 25% won't surprise me if you are an established reseller (looks like your shop is new, so...) and/or if you pay in advance for a big amount.
624  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] Taugeran's Antminer S1/S3 revival story guide on: September 09, 2014, 01:32:32 PM
Nice, I just bought a working S1 to backup the data and check how the control board could be unbricked on S1 and S3.
You were faster than me.
625  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Help with technobit hex16a2 on: September 09, 2014, 01:29:33 PM
Hi, if you are using the windows cgminer, I have the same issue, but I still haven't checked if I removed the option in windows to turn afew things like USB off to save power.
Could be the reason.
The hexminer software was also doing the same a few monthes ago, when I was using it.
The best way to use hex boards seems to be the TL-MR3020 router.

You got PM, give me your postal address, I'll check the delivery price.

I updated the OP with serial numbers for the PSU, they are often selling for 20$ on ebay on your side of the sea.

That makes a very cheap 1300w reliable PSU.

How much for 1 board shipped to US west coast?
Thanks!

Edit: just reread the OP, shoot me a PM, I'd like to order one of these so I can design a safety enclosure for them.
Thanks and cheers mate!

I'll send you one of std and XL design.
630  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Antminer S1 - UK / EU on: September 05, 2014, 08:24:58 PM
Because of taxes and all, I always consider paying the same number in $ or € is still fair.
He is selling for 50$, I could go for 50€ plus shipping.
631  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Antminer S1 - UK / EU on: September 05, 2014, 08:01:43 PM
Hi, I'm looking for a cheap one to play with (no need to speak of profitability...)
if you are considering selling at a similar price 9mm-btc is doing, I'd be interested in buying it shipped to France.

Still waiting for news from biggzi and Berliner-Bitcoin-Mining  Embarrassed

So the boards that were made for them are available for sale, and each board already have 6 PCI-E cables attached that I used to test them electrically.

New XL board with up to 14 PCI-E cables available.
Pics soon.
633  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I want to sell off some of my gridseed blade farm on: September 04, 2014, 12:41:01 PM
Refresh me on what speed these blades get and can they be over clocked?
FYI for anyone wanting to buy from Philip I have sent to him upfront and deal went very well...trusted seller for sure.

They can be overclocked (voltmodded) to 7MH, but will need extra care like heatsinks on the power mosfets, and another heatsink on the bottom of the PCB where the power mosfets are located. Secondary side fan to cool the power mosfets is almost mandatory if you want to reach 7MH. I reached 7.2MH on the ones I modded.
Extra cooling of each individual chip may help reducing HW errors too.

You can have a look at my topic for overclocking Gridseed Blade to 7MH.
Basically, overclock = replacing 1 resistor on each PCB and adding heatsinks and a fan.

edited the prices.
635  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Custom FPGA Board for sale on: September 01, 2014, 08:24:13 AM
Ztex 1.15y are still selling new from their shop at this price, but they are hashing @ 850 MH (not profitable, anyway).

Unfortunately, unless this particular FPGA could mine scrypt @ 100MH with the advertised 6.8w, it's almost worthless for mining now.

Is this just a bad scam with real lack of imagination and knowledge of what is actually used as mining hardware?
636  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TECHNOBIT support tread + customer feedback/240 GHS - 129 EUR - 48 hour shipment on: August 30, 2014, 08:09:31 PM
looks like there is a short between layers where the capacitors melted the top layer, so unless I can get an empty board from technobit to solder the chips salvaged from the shorted board, I guess I'll have to find another design and build the board.
637  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TECHNOBIT support tread + customer feedback/240 GHS - 129 EUR - 48 hour shipment on: August 30, 2014, 11:49:02 AM
Hi, Marto,

I have a board with many capacitors burnt.
I still haven't checked the Upper Gate mosfets, but it's possible they are damaged too.
Can you have a look and confirm if all the powerstage capacitors are 22µF as stated in the LTC4449 datasheet?
What voltage are they?
If not, I'd appreciate getting the values, it will be less trouble than unsoldering 1 at a time and checking value on the ones that aren't burnt.
Thanks

Sorry something I should have asked about before...

I assume the included cables will be 16 AWG?

Also I want to power 3 x S3's off each unit. So will need 6 x PCI-E cables. I know you mention crimp terminals would this safely handle 3 x S3's without overheating the connections. I would also need the extra PCI-E cables to be included in the order.

Thanks.

Your order is ready to ship.
10 boards with cables already attached since I tested them.
You can pay using BTC (escrow is ok if you want to pay the fees) or paypal.
0.80BTC, 265£, 410us$

yes, they are 16 AWG cables, I received them 3 hours ago.
The crimp terminals are rated at 16 amps each, there will be 3 crimp terminals for 2 cables, so 48A of capacity.
Each PCI-E cables will draw 1300/6/12= 18A (max of the PSU), so 36A for 2 cables
Anyway, your S3 is stated as 360W at the wall, it will be less than 15A on each cable.

Safety margin is at least 25% if you max out the PSU and use all the screw terminals.

The screw terminals should also accept 2 wires, 16 AWG, this way, I won't need the crimp terminals.
I'm currently checking this point.

Quote
EDIT
No need to worry about the crimp terminals, I can fit 2x 16AWG wires in the screw terminals on the board.
6 PCI-E cables on each board will work with no trouble for you.

10 extra cables will add 0.05BTC,
It will also be in another weight range for shipping, I'll go for fedex/UPS/DHL for the same price..
