Sorry for the noob question - what does the tainted BTC burn means?
it looks at the correlation of the btc in 2 addresses coming from one address in a previous time period. the goal of this project was to limit 1 btc per burn, the intention being that this would allow for an even distribution. but of course some people get greedy and want more, so they split up their btc to different addresses and burn them... using the taint tool on blockchain you can put in an addy and see the taint between that addy and another addy that is in the list of burns. gotta love greed... Cheers Interesting that the 1 BTC limit was imposed to make it more spread out. Burning more is a bit counter productive anyway - the more coins in circulation, the less valuable they are.

By they I meant CFB and BCnext - not you and CFB.
As I already stated a few times, BCNext is a different person. I hold him locked in my mom's basement. I initially replied to someone who asked if it matters if you two are the same person, to which I said it does coz that may indicate you are a manipulator. Anyways, I have no idea about all these business, not having followed initially and not having the heart to invest when it was over 100x. I would like to say good luck (not that you need it - I guess you are sitting on millions), but I am mostly hoping for a crash and burn sceneraio (I know, I know, thats being petty - but I am no Gandhi).

There seems to be an issue where BCnext abruptly stopped the IPO and released them to the market at a much higher price. CFB claims he is as much in dark about it (CFB and some investor td... has been fighting all over the forums about this). If it turns out that they indeed are they same person then that potentially makes him very dodgy to say the least.
No, I'm a very different person, though CFB and I actually would agree on a lot of things like PoS vs PoW mining - too bad the NXT presale issue has come between us. I'm not sure how to verify I'm a different person than CFB on the forum, but I'm open to suggestions if there is interest. By they I meant CFB and BCnext - not you and CFB.

So is this a quark clone? Won't bother with it if it is.

There will be a few millions XCP generated, so don't except an overnight jump like NXT or MSC.
IMO, its the fairest project, though, so I am burning (or at least I will after the bug is fixed).

im thinking 1 xcp should at least get to the 3 - 4 mBTC range
Your want it to be or you think it will be? If latter, may I know your reason? He is just hoping I guess. I will start doing the same too once I have burned my BTC. By the time burning is over, there may be 3-4 million XCPs so I doubt there will be an immediate price hike. I do like it coz the devs seem to be approaching the right way (unlike NXT or MSC). It was working fine yesterday. However, today it refused to run claiming some module is missing so I deleted everything and starting from scratch. I am a total noob here too and thanks to all who kept replying and helping me set it up. EDIT: When I send from the command line, it just says from address and amount. Where is the fee? EDIT2: Its not running. Says Import Error: No module named 'apsw' Btw, how do you copy from cmd? Its a pain typing in errors manually in here. Right click and choose 'mark', then you can mark the part you want to copy. Neat Well, heres the error then: C:\counterpartyd_build>C:\python33\python.exe run.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\counterpartyd_build\dist\counterpartyd\counterpartyd.py", line 11, in <module> import apsw ImportError: No module named 'apsw'

The block reward decreases linearly.
Does it decrease at midnight GMT?
You mean the amount of XPC earned per burned BTC? This value decreases with every new block: Right now, XCP are being rewarded to those that burn BTC at a price between 1500 XCP/BTC and 1000 XCP/BTC. The exact formula is: XCP_EARNED = BTC_BURNED * (1000 * (1 + .5 * ((END_BLOCK - CURRENT_BLOCK) / (END_BLOCK - START_BLOCK))
Thanks. I guess I will just burn tomorrow then. Also, how can I put in a transaction fee when sending from address using the command line?

When I run from source its working fine, but when I try making the installer it says (after doing a lot of stuff) File not found error [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'C:\\counterpartyd_build\\bin\\exe.win-i386-3.3'
Also, where do I check the testnet XCP?
Can you tell me the name of the directory that was made under C:\counterpartyd_build\bin\ ?? (should start with exe.)? Then I could fix this bug (haven't had the chance to test the installer build under Windows i386). exe.win32-3.3 I tried manually changing the name but I guess that was a noob move btw, I can't burn from counterpartd/bitcoind in testnet. I put that command line in a bat file and ran but nothing (the counterpartyd is running fine in both testnet and mainnet). EDIT: Successfully burned 0.5 BTC on testnet. I guess I will wait till the updates for the big burn on mainnet?
