641  Economy / Goods / Re: Physical Bitcoin (Novelty) Awesome Design, Heavy, Well Built Coins - Gold Plated on: April 25, 2013, 06:36:11 AM
I don't think its necessary to make one side flat in order to make it bitcoin-loadable. I don't know how you plan on doing it, but just generate a QR code of the private key, size it accordingly, apply it so the blank side of the QR code is against the hologram and the inked side will be against the coin. The hologram should be able to handle a slight contour. Just my two cents-I don't want you to ruin one of your coins if trying to make it flat doesn't work out!

Thanks for your input. The answer for flatening the one side of the coin is sandpaper, hours of rubbing it on sandpaper. Got the idea from this: http://www.m.haly.dsl.pipex.com/UFO_Photo/lap_CPU.jpg
Though, i will have to nickel (and/or gold plate) them on that side again. The biggest problem that i found is the damn hologram-stickers.

I will sacrifice one of those coins when they come, to see how it turns out. If i fail they will be just be a nice addition to my collection Smiley
What do you mean problems with the holograms?

I'd guess it would be that the adhesive tends to lift plate off of the base metal.
642  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMERS - HAZE, and Timmy99 - on: April 25, 2013, 06:32:46 AM
So two newbies both join on the same day to accuse one another of scamming.  In addition, another thread appears where a different newbie accuses another newbie of fleecing them in a Feathercoin/Litecoin transaction.

Maybe newbies should stay away from Feathercoin.

Maybe it is a new strategy. Start two puppets and throw them against each other with the survivor living to scam in the future?
643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who's the biggest *REP* Zhou, Nefario....TRC DEV......???? on: April 25, 2013, 06:14:24 AM
pirateat40 of course, highest amount of BTC scammed ever, non on the list comes even close, probably none will come close ever in terms of BTC amount.

Yup, nothing will ever come close to this in my opinion.

I suspect that's wishful thinking.  There's plenty of opportunity ahead for people to pull off bigger scams, and no shortage of likely victims.

Hell, we haven't even really seen any attempts at a hedge fund scam yet.

There are going to to be by far larger scams in terms of dollar value, but in terms of bitcoins lost... With the redistribution during the year's bullrun, correction, recovery I don't know that collecting Pirateat40 numbers of coins is going to be as easy as Trendon had it.
644  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: April 25, 2013, 06:04:27 AM
Last 3 trolls seem to be missing the fact that the bet deadline was at the end of April 1, not the start of it.

I have no interest in this bet either way, but this alone would seem to decide the bet.  Luke, you're not stupid, so how can you get this so wrong?  Are you still claiming to have no interest in the bet?  Do you claim that April 1st is before April 1st?

The title was "Butterfly Labs will not ship ASIC-based Bitforce SC products before April 2013" and the body said "For this statement to be false, both of the two following conditions must be met: Before April 1st 2013, at least one BFL customer [...]".

Something happening in April does not happen before April, by the definition of "before".

Shouldn't that be the end of it?

I'd be inclined to think so...
645  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Southern Illinois/ StL Meet up on: April 24, 2013, 03:32:04 AM
I'll be in town this week. Has anyone else shown interest?

Not really.
646  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bryan Micon's "Bet Me Anything" thread on: April 22, 2013, 05:47:26 AM
BOOKED on Miami Heat to win 6 straight for 2.0 BTC.  I have TRUE.

I will always put requested props in red.  This thread will never die.

I sent the coins already.

booked / rec'd glglgl

I am a StL Cardinals fan, and I'm wondering how you would handicap a bet for total wins awarded to the pitcher in a competition between Shelby Miller and Lance Lynn by the all star break. Depending on the odds you offer I could take either through the all star break, and I'd like to take Shelby Miller has more wins than Lance Lynn at the end of the MLB regular season.

I try to shy away from sports bets in general (but obv if some1 needs action i'll give a price) and I really hate baseball.  I have not desire to research this bet and respectfully decline.

I'm primarily looking for "shenanigans" bets like on bombers and reality tv and politics and shit.

[/quote]

I would be willing to commission you for escrow if you can find a bettor.
647  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any hopes of getting an Intrade type predictions market for Bitcoin? on: April 22, 2013, 05:26:45 AM
I've seen what we have so far (bets of bitcoin, and bitbet), and these offer no where near the advantages and freedom of betting as a true prediction market like Intrade have.  Is anyone working or thinking of working on something similar?

Just as soon as you sit down, read this and implement it.

Well i skimmed through that, seems to suggest hedging with Intrade, or vice-versa.  If that's what you were trying to get at. Of course Intrade has been down for a while now(the reason i posted this).  Thanks anyway

It's more you clone Intrade and then Hedge on BitBet.

20% goes to the tag owner
...
10% goes to the charity
5% goes to the tag owner sponsors

What the hell are these, and what do they have to do with the business of advertising? What reasonable content publisher is going to use an advertising network where 35% goes not to themselves or the ad network, but a built in inefficiency.
651  Economy / Gambling / Re: New BTC Found on: April 19, 2013, 06:49:41 PM
In case you have a blog or a website, as a free tagvillage publisher you will earn 50% commission from what advertiser pays for his/her ad on your site, and I can assure you that you will earn much better than from Adsense...  It is not click based but time based advertising platform, truly one of a kind and 100% free during testing!

50% actually sounds like a rather abysmal rate for a publisher to receive. Most advertising networks don't take close to that kind of haircut.
652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't hate me too much, but I think litecoin is superior to bitcoin on: April 19, 2013, 08:30:02 AM
I am new to the whole scene, been using both for a few months now.

Why i think litecoin is better - in order of importance, and all in my opinion:

1) much faster transaction times, much much faster
2) litecoins are not nearly as concentrated in such a few hands as far as i can tell from my short research.
3) harder to mine litecoins with ASICS (never say never, it will one day be done, but they will be slower ASICS compared to bitcoin), therefore mining should hopefully stay more distributed to the general public instead of a few heavy hitters.

comments?

Where's the litecoin sports books?
653  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitCoin Sports is SHADY and essentially stole 6 BTC + from me the last two days on: April 19, 2013, 03:49:10 AM

No complaints tonight.  Grin

Pretty thrilled actually.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this ladies avatar is not her real photo...

Here, take a look and while there, read some posts too: http://tagstrading.com/ ;-)

Oh, and as to my health, no worry, I am a late bloomer  Cool

Is that Tags Trading an advertising site where you can buy keywords to run ads on where the ads will appear nowhere?

656  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Linode hacked, CC info leaked on: April 16, 2013, 05:38:52 AM
06:07 < ryannn> They say there's no 'central weak point'
06:07 < ryannn> Yeah there is, there's the developers
06:08 < ryannn> There's been bugs in the client that have allowed the blockchain to split previously
06:08 < ryannn> One could just backdoor the bitcoin client binaries, not the source.
06:08 < ryannn> Nobody would figure it out until it's too late
... and this is not true, as the official binary is signed, and many people run cronjobs to download and verify that the official binary hasn't been modified.

Still amusing that he bothered commenting on it.

Linode don't take BTC do they?

Linode being hacked was responsible for one of the first big hacking loses by a bitcoin service.
657  Economy / Gambling / Re: New upstart gambling site for MLB. on: April 16, 2013, 03:49:43 AM
whatsgoingon- Nothing against you but I don't put a lot of trust in something new like this. I do like the other 3 that are here. That said, I'll give it a shot tomorrow

The one bet I made here did pay out, but I did bet the minimum and they really do need to build trust...

Edit: They are scammers, trust gone
658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NOTROLL.IN admin overnight withdrew 25% of our coins from our balances ! on: April 16, 2013, 03:19:50 AM

659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Windows Bounty Doubling on: April 16, 2013, 03:16:58 AM
The were no objections to the windows bounty doubling:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1776730#msg1776730

the original bounty is at:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1358839#msg1358839

so it is doubled from 6 shares to 12 shares. A 6 share bounty has been sent out to K1773R, so a top up of 6 will be sent. The remaining bounty is 6 shares.

The windows bundle works, the problem is that people are having difficulty installing it and getting it to bootstrap the receiver files. So the remaining windows bounty is now for improved installation and/or bootstrapping, maybe an installer could be made which installs devcoin-qt and devcoind, and makes copies over the receiver files to the correct place or something like that. There's no point in making another windows devcoin exe, since that part already works.

I might give a proper windows installer a shot.
tell me if you do it so i wont waste time Wink up to you for now.

Well, I'll have to reinstall Windows on a junk hard disk first. I found your build to be great. It just isn't quite idiot proof enough for most Windows users. It isn't their fault though, they have just been trained to expect the wrong result since 3.1
660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Felix Salmon - Reuters - "The Promise of Ripple" on: April 16, 2013, 01:58:26 AM
Ripple is being run by guys from Prosper and Mt. Gox.  It will be a success.

I'm not so sure... Mt. Gox kind of just accidentally all of its success.
