661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.9.3 has been released on: December 22, 2014, 04:30:56 AM
Hmm. Perhaps I need to try again.

How do each of you feel about the fact that it is impossible to verify that Bitcoin 0.9.3 is an official build, and therefore unlikely to have a backdoor that allows some nefarious party to steal your bitcoins?

Or, if there is a way to verify this, how does one do so?

Not sure what you mean. There's file signature hashes published at https://bitcoin.org/en/download . That file is signed with Wladimirs key.
662  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: How do you prefer to log in? on: December 21, 2014, 01:37:48 PM
Have you considered sqrl login technology? see below:

https://www.grc.com/sqrl/sqrl.htm

I had forgotten about this. It looks very interesting and much more secure than other 2FA solutions. But are there mobile apps implementing this? Are any sites using it? Are people willing to scan a QR code every time they need to log in? [...]

Yes, that'd be great!

Thanks for sharing & Great work Developpers !
Could anyone please tell me what to do to save Private keys ? I don't see it in the GUI (Windows) , Console command maybe ? thanks

Are you trying to backup your private keys? If so, you should just backup the whole wallet by clicking File -> Backup Wallet

I should only take this backup once at lifetime ? or Take it like one a day , or once a week ?

Roughly every 50 tx.
664  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: December 21, 2014, 08:50:23 AM

Good news on the iDevices release!

I don't have one to test, but it seems some functions like Local Trader are not supported yet. Is this a Apple T&C issue? Or just a delay?

Do you consider the EU server a success? What is needed to get one in Asia?

667  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LocalBitcoins.com - a location-based bitcoin to cash marketplace on: December 14, 2014, 09:15:17 AM

Not to hijack this thread, but Mycelium for Android has a built-in trading function similar to LBTC. At least for cash deals. Possibly harder to regulate ;-)

Mycelium local trader still relies on centralized server infrastructure afaik. Correct me if I'm wrong

It does. But it's not on the radar of that agency just yet, according to one of the Mycelium devs. It still works for now.
668  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The cost of electricity in the world on: December 13, 2014, 12:37:24 PM

Canada can be quite cheap too at ~7 Cents in the Hydro provinces. But then they are also looking to tax bitcoin miners.

Sweden has a huge hydropower plant near Boden. Facebook et al build datacenters there. I think this is also the location for KNC.

Iceland is cheap if you get the industrial rate.

Depending how low feed-in tariffs drop it could also be worthwhile to talk to small micro/mini hydropower plants. Or build one yourself if you have the location, from about 50k, I hear.

There was a post about a location in Venezuela with 5 Cents or so, but then you have to worry about heat. Same in Thailand (~8 Cents).

When you do your research you will find there is no "cost per country". It depends on the infrastructure among other things and prices are per the actual location.

Why not just do Quota 50-50?
670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error opening block database 0.9.3 - log file data on: December 10, 2014, 03:41:04 AM

Seems you did not upgrade via the PPA. Why not? It helps putting things at the right location, to avoid things like you are experiencing.

A workaround could be to specify the bitcoin data directory when you run the executable from your Downloads folder. But cleaning up the mess would be better.
671  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: December 10, 2014, 02:57:47 AM

How about impacting the other party's rating when I accepted the trade, but they let it time out?
672  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: December 09, 2014, 11:49:26 AM

Over in the localbitcoins.com thread there is a report that users from Germany are barred (I'm guessing by using IP geolocation) from using the service since the money flow can not always be traced (cash deals). Has Mycelium been approached by regulatory authorities from Germany? What do you think about it?

Last update was a few days ago: https://github.com/conformal

Try their IRC channel, I had good luck getting support there.

I suppose you checked the file signature before extracting?

Is there a mechanism within Malwarebytes to report false positives?
677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Copy Paste bug in qt core on: December 02, 2014, 04:47:21 AM
Shouldn't the period/comma depend on the locale? Many countries use commas as the decimal mark.

I had an issue pasting the other a value from a website. I guess there was some zero-width non-breaking space (?) or similar in there.

Day 1 : 800Mhz - 101C
Day 2 : 700Mhz - 103C
Day 3 : 500Mhz - 103C
Day 4 : 400Mhz - 103C

Ambient temperature is 21 C and less.

Would anyone have an idea what is going on ?

Possibly to do with:

Could you have the second one on TOR only?
680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: blockchain working? on: November 29, 2014, 10:41:54 AM
Assuming your using bitcoin core then. You are probably connected to a slow peer.

[...] If you think that one is slow, close Core, delete peers.dat in the data directory and try anew. Or if you know a fast node you can use the connect= command. For example 84.200.34.113:8333. [...]

Edit: It also depends on your hardware's capabilities how long it will take to validate the block chain.
