Someone please look at this code and tell me if I did something wrong. I've been running for ~20 hours and haven't had any type of payout or even a notification in my wallet letting me know I'm doing it right.

Code:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\java -Xmx1000m -cp pocminer.jar;lib/*;lib/akka/*;lib/jetty/* pocminer.POCMiner generate acctnumberhere 0 108000000 0 4

Running 2.7 TB completely empty drive. Wanting to maximize the space as much as possible. Thank you for all the help all of you have provided the past day or so, I really do a appreciate you guys helping a complete mining noob like myself.

BTW my specs are:

I7 3770k (gen2 I think)

16 gb ram

GTX 690 if that matters

and the empty 2.7TB that I'm mining on.

That's just plot app with the cmd line your showing.

Are you solo or pool mining?

Maybe retweet this to bittrex on tweeter: https://twitter.com/CryptoPLGuru/status/507960459388276736

Why bittrex still don't add Burst?

The excuse that Burstcoin isn't on the new NXT API, nothing else. I posted a tweet about it and that was the response, my twitter is n10z.

Faucet is up!

http://burstfaucet.com

In high need of donations, I don't have much to give Sad

Gives out 10 BURST. If anyone knows how to reduce fee, then I'll probably lower the payout

Cool, did you pm the dev to post this on the OP?
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | Update to 1.0.3 before block 6500 on: September 05, 2014, 06:31:46 PM
i sold all my burst! i think we are going probably down to 300

Sure! And i have seen a flying horse right out of my house talking about football with a cat.

Burst crashes on C-Cex.  Huh

Well. If you're not a newbie:
-3 millions+ coin mined every day
-2 billions coins total
-No investor
-Only miner
-Millions of burst on c-cex deposit.

You always go with the flow, do you?

As they say, misery loves company. Negative people will try to bring down positive people.

The problem is people listen to people like IE, Bobsurplus, etc....Strange the few can motivate the many to do things that are illogical and rash actions. People forget to trust their own wisdom and become followers to the wrong people/cause.

As far as the price is going down, we can only blame us for pushing it down like that, no excuses. You know how the crypto world goes, there can be 100 billion coins and people can hype a coins price without any real reason/ideal. So, this BS of people making a big deal about the minting of the coin per day, then why is DOGE and REDD still around. Both are doing ok still with their larger amount of coins.

My advise, if your here to dump, then dump and leave this thread with your negative comments/ideals. I really don't understand why you people like to stroke your ego when you so call predict a coins lower prices/downfall, your not Nostradamus. So, stop with thinking your some professional economist/stock broker, because that wouldn't fly in the Stock Market with rumors/FUD.

if i look at the balance the exchange adress has i am quite surprised that nobody dumps into the buy orders down to the 100-150 satoshi range like we had earlier.
there is still no real volume on c-cex and i am pretty sure people who wanted to invest already did and wait.
if i look at the blockexplorer on the stat page there are below the exchange account two more addresses holding above 3 million burst. for me this looks like some people hording burst as investment.

More likely, those with millions of Burst will be laughing to the bank in the future. C-Cex isn't any indication if a coin will be a failure/success, people need to make a judgement when this hits one of the larger exchanges. If it fails there, then so be it. I for one support this coin and like it's concept.

Any news on Bittrex listing ??
Would like to get some BURST, but can't trust C-Cex with my BTC.

C-Cex is ok, just not a large exchange. I buy and sell there with no issues yet.

I will build a burst multipool.  I have already registered the domain name.  However, I am travelling for the day to BC (driving about 10 hours) but from the hotel tonight I will get at least a beta version of it up and running.

I need a couple things from the community though.
a) I'd like a commitment to give me at least 72 hours to get the pool up and running.  Like I said, I am travelling with work and I don't want to have to be in some stupid competition to get a half-done pool operational before some other lame pool operator.  I have a proven track record of producing working pools for other coins.  We can set my deadline as being saturday evening PST.

b) I need logos and images and stuff related to burst, as well as an official color scheme (if one exists) - if there are any graphics designers who have done any work with this coin, please pm me with what you have.

You got it.

Everyone please send me the funds for this multipool!

Unfortunately, I lost all of my personal coins =(

But I will still take care of this for the community.

Anyone want to sell me 1.5 million at 480? Send me a PM!

Before I send, I at least have to ask, how did you lose your personal coins?

Yea, I was wondering the same thing, although I sent before I knew this had happened. Hopefully he's still on the up n up.

That is strange, since only contacts are saved locally and everything else is on the network/blockchain.

Guess the hold up for Bittrex is that NXT has a new API and that forks of NXT might have not applied it yet: https://twitter.com/N10z/status/507641472397504512

Difficulty continues to rise. I wrote a quick script to grab the baseTarget from every block, and used the it to calculate and graph total network size over time:

Imagine once more of the larger hdd farms get done plotting, that's many folds more than the current status.

try to do anything with your account while javascript is disabled in your browser  Cry

i posted earlier that there is a huge difference between java and javascript.
technically if there is a 0-day exploit to access the java vm it is more powerfull than it would be for javascript.
so the big question is who wants to put a million dollar into anything you easily can loose control over?
i could sum up the last exploits with which those attacks where possible and expolorate the next date when such things are possible.
for now java may be safe but we speak about a timeframe of at least 4 years.
so please anyone stop saying java is safe and burst does'nt need a cpp based wallet!

Anything technically, has some form of security exploit. That is all up to who codes it well and make sure it has the proper security protocols. I never said Java is 100%, so don't assume I said that. Even Linux and Mac can be exploited, has been done before.
exactly this is my point. if it is possible to secure something by not offering a huge target platform its safer. encapsulating a java vm by proper protocols is impossible. the only solution is to not allow the vm access to all critical data and do the critical things on a encapsulated secured system without java. this means you can build a block explorer in java but nothing which requires the private key like the ui login.
exactly this is why i have completely ignored nxt and i know many people who did the same.
if there is no c based wallet within the next couple of month burst wont be able gain market cap.

Very true. But hopefully as this project progresses, these issues will be dealt with accordingly.

Any hdd's shipped have a risk of being damage, even new ones. I've bought both open boxed and refurbished with no issues in the past. Actually, had a new Seagate and WD drive crap out on me.

Newegg got these 2.5TB hdd's for $68: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2DC1R71823

That pretty good $/TB ratio.

I'm planning to buy some next week or so, if it's still in stock.

Yeah solo mining is almost impossible now. No block since few days with 4.5TB. I wait for luck and switch to pool mining.

The pool is nice, I suggest it.

mining on pool is the same who mining in solo?

i generate plot meanwhile i mine on pool?

it is possible?

I just setup a 12TB rig and got a block 14 hours later, so solo mining is still possible. I'm about to setup another rig with 16TB today once my 4x 4TB drive come in from Newegg.

why another rig? one psu can handle plenty of hdd, for the MB just add some adapter pci-e >>> sata

My current case isn't setup to fit more than 6 HDD's, need to go get more 3.5" to 2.5" adapters. I have 2 more Sata port on the mobo, but probably get either a eSata 4 bay enclosure and/or pci-e card. All depend on my cash in a week, got car insurance, cell and other bills to pay first.

I like to share an updated version of the Linux C tools. You can download it here:

https://bchain.info/dcct_miner.tgz

First you need to unpack it:
tar -xvzf dcct_miner.tgz

Then compile it:
make

of if you use 32-bit Linux:
make linux32

If you really can't compile it use the ones in "bin".

Now you have 3 tools:

The plot merge utility

If you created your plots with a small stagger size, processing them takes a long time. You might miss your deadline if its found too late!
The merge utility optimizes your already created files making them a lot faster to read.

How to use it?

Start it with one parameter, the input file.
Code:
./merge plots/1234567890_0_100000_1000

This will read your plotfile and create another one - 1234567890_0_100000_100000 - in your current directory. It now has a stagger size of 100000 which is a LOT better.
When done, delete the input file and put the optimized plot in its directory.
You can now use the optimized file with both the JAVA and the C miner.

This does not work for incomplete plotfiles.

The C plotfile generator

This tool creates plotfiles. It takes the same parameters as the JAVA plotfile-generator.

Start it like this:
Code:
./plot <public key> <start nonce> <nonces> <stagger size> <threads>

The 32-bit version can handle a stagger size of about 15000, lots more (depending on your memory) with the 64-bit version.

Some recommended stagger sizes:
2GB memory -> 4000
4GB memory -> 8000
8GB memory -> 20000
16GB memory -> 50000
32GB memory -> 100000

It creates a directory "plots" and puts your files there. They exactly match the files generated with the JAVA-Tool and can be used with any miner.

The miner

You want to use your plotfiles to generate coins, this is where the miner is used.

The C version has some advantages:
- It uses almost no memory
- A lot faster, multithreaded
- Can handle multiple plot directories

You first have to create a file called "passphrases.txt" and put your passphrase in it. It supports only one passphrase and uses the files first line.
Avoid spaces before/after your passphrase.

Then start the miner:

Code:
./mine <node ip> [<plot dir> <plot dir> ..]

For example:

Code:
./mine 127.0.0.1 /mnt/disk1/plots /home/user/plots /mnt/usb1/plots

Each directory is read by a separate thread. If you use multiple HDD's try to use one directory per HDD, this is fastest.

The miner creates some nice output:
Code:
2872 MB read/11488 GB total/deadline 50134s (49664s left)
New block 8674, basetarget 9388869
2872 MB read/11488 GB total/deadline 21573s (21476s left)
New block 8675, basetarget 9260523
2872 MB read/11488 GB total/deadline 3040s (2823s left)
New block 8676, basetarget 9461804
2872 MB read/11488 GB total/deadline 1122s (1018s left)
New block 8677, basetarget 9502439

When seconds left approach zero, you likely found a block.

If you like it - you can do me a favor and use/spread my blockchain-explorer http://bchain.info. It does not support BURST unfortunately.

Nice work, thanks for your hard work...Might use this for the new hdd's coming in today.

Hey everyone

I've been out of the loop for a while here. Can you guys fill me in on what's been happening recently with regards to development? From what I gather over the last few posts, community devs have step forward to help with develpment, am I correct?

uray has a nice v2 pool with no deadline limit and 1.5 fee. crowetic has someone developing an all-in-one downloader/miner/plotter for Windows with optimizations in a couple days. That's pretty much it, everything else is economics concerning a larger exchange(s) taking Burst and the occasional FUDder....lol

Still in need of a PR team to push this thing to the upper limits.

would someone listen to me...

i will tell you my story, how i Lost 50K burst while developing http://burst-pool.cryptoport.io, do you know that javascript implementation of integer is 56-bit !? really... its 56-bit !

so what't the problem with 56-bit ? did you know that burst account number is encoded in 64-bit integer, then if you do parseInt(accountId), you lost last Byte of account ID, and when payment was made, it was sent to stupid address !

stupid address with zero byte on the last accountId bytes... sigh
50 K is 5 block i solo-mined dude !

that blockchain explorer is a piece of art. what are your other development plans?

i posted it .... here it is

so here is our next plan

1. convert Nxt code base from Java to C++11
2. stratum-like mining protocol
3. desktop wallet (osx, win, linux)
4. iOS / android wallet
5. Faucet
6. Official IRC channel
7. Subreddit
8. sidechain, where plot of this chain will hold public data, think like torrent where leecher pay seeder with burst
9. forget anon, its green address, you can associate your address with real/legal identity
10. gpu based plot generator
11. multipool (reverse-pool)

Another thing that probably needs to be on the list is, a couple of specialize assets for the coin to take advantage of that. Maybe make an all-in-one GUI with the miner and plotter to help with more global adoption. Still need an official website for Burst.

Right now we are working on all-in-one downloader, plotter, miner, wallet GUI controller. It's a controller for current stuff released, GUI.

I will post screenshots probably tomorrow, as the dev friend I am working with on this is out sick today. I also need to inform him of the windows plotter that's faster, so we can include that.

That sounds great. It somewhat of a hassle to fire up my Ubuntu box and setup up plotting/mining. I was about to do a Linux VM in my Windows machine to plot and then mine with Windows.

Also I want to add to what I said, a plotter on Windows to be optimized. Whatever can be optimized in Linux can be optimized in Windows and vice-versa, dependent on kernel(s)/driver(s) in the OS.

500~700 sat seems like the stabilizing price of Burst at the moment. Imagine with more adoption and larger exchange takes it.  Cool
