701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What Extension Plug will I need? on: January 31, 2021, 01:55:06 PM
Do you mean extension for power cord to psu or extensions for psu to gpu cards?

If main power either buy a longer cord or buy an extension cord thst can handle the power draw.  In this case at least 750w but i would go higher.  If 110v power then a 15amp cord.  If 208-240v then a 7.5-10amp cord.

If you mean for psu to gpu then you can get extensions but for 4 gpus should be needed.  i run 6x13 gpus off the psu depending on size.

Just be sure to get good quality wire and made ones.

Risers come with 2-3 ft usb cable so shouldnt need extension there.

702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any software for trading watts? on: January 31, 2021, 01:47:14 PM
Is there any software that can be used to monitor wattage consumption when Mining instead of using wall sockets with meter reading on them? I can't afford one now and I'm looking for a software solution, thanks

Software alone isnt accurate...espeically for AMD usage.  You do need a meter of some type.

These are $6 each with shipping but require you log the data:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-LCD-AC-Voltmeter-LED-Panel-Voltmeter-Volt-Amp-Watt-Power-Combo-Monitor/262715986670?hash=item3d2b17d2ee:g:p7sAAOSwcUBYJcP9

And for both power logging and remote power cycle even scheduling..you can use these 3 for $20:

https://www.amazon.com/KMC-Monitoring-Compatible-Required-Function/dp/B07313TH7B/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=kmc+smart+plugs&qid=1612100675&sr=8-4

Thats the cheapest solutions i know of.  Problem with software like miner power measurement...it doesnt include actual power used.  AMD cards dont report anything but power used by main chip...no riser power.  Nvidia is better but still not all the power or even system power.

Good luck hope you find a solution that works for you.

704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin is on profit after the fork on: January 31, 2021, 02:35:11 AM
440KHS on miner is not 440MHS on calculator.

Enter 0.440MHS instead...then tell me how good a deal it is.
705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining room cooling - How to modify the room on: January 31, 2021, 01:46:01 AM
So that would be a 3rd option.
Problem is, that the room has several carriers at the ceiling - like 15cm bumps. Could hang the piping unter that.
Also, due to the pressure lose within the ducts, i would have an over pressure in the room because the exhaust fan would have to push air through several meters of ducts.

Would need to split the room anyways since it is too long.

But would it make so much of a difference?

I mean, if I such out the air of a 65m³ hot room with 8000m³ and supply on the cold side the same 8000m³ of fresh air, would that not be enough? It is an air exchange of over 2x per minute. Because it is easy to install some insulating panels to split the room. but not that easy to install meters of 500mm ducts hanging from the ceiling.

Calculate the BTU load coming off the gear and that is answerable.  I know that forcing the air to flow through the gear is the best way.  Just through a room means most air is not coming in contact with the hot parts.

I use a similar process to cool a cubic meter plywood box.  Its got around 60~75 gpus in it and at the bottom are filters for air in.  Out the top is a meter diameter fan that runs wide open and even in very hot summers the gpus all run below 70c (air temp will get to 100+F...there is math involved and its the weekend). The air is forced to pull through the smaller inside box containing the rigs.  And you can size the duct as needed....but the window size is the throttle point of the whole system...i would probably put a fan on outpu and one in or near input...  similar to asic designs...push pull...i mean thats exactly what they are doing...just they have a small densly packed space...you gotta have some room to work and such on them.

something like this top view

https://ibb.co/s5fZpFB

air come in window and is brought into room low near floor.  Then the holes in the two walls are where rigs/gear sit to get air through them.  The return duct runs from the opposite side near near ceiling and carries air out the return side of window.  would need a few doors or panels to get in and service each side...but works to move air through the rigs.

* quick and dirty 3d rendering not to scale

707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining room cooling - How to modify the room on: January 31, 2021, 12:55:20 AM
1 is better but i think you are wasting some space.  have the exhaust at the far wall opposite the rigs (up top heat rises). No need for a lot of room...just insulate the return pipe and run it over head.  Then put a baffle at the incoming air so that it comes in at the floor down low...blowing in will travel across through gear into the exhaust fan on opposite wall.  Then consider walls in same direction as air is coming but with holes cut out for the rigs/gear.  This way the air that is moving has to move through the wholes in the wall.  You may be able to have 2 or 3 such walls and pull the air through just the rigs/gear before getting to exhuast.

Just a thought.  The problem with an open area is that air will flow only around the most effficient path and not the other corners areas...lowest rig..etc

708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8GB ASRock Radeon RX 570 Phantom Gaming on: January 30, 2021, 11:28:04 PM
Hi,

Im thiniking about mining ETH.

Can I still mine it with this gpu: 8GB ASRock Radeon RX 570 Phantom Gaming?

minerstat.com says that there could be a problem with dag size.

Yes 8gb should mine 30-32mhs.
709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI B360-A Pro motherboard on: January 30, 2021, 07:31:18 PM
try setting them to gen2 and no more than X4

710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI B360-A Pro motherboard on: January 30, 2021, 07:01:16 PM
How are the cards installed?  I looked through manual and dont see any way to control the two long slots to be x4 instead of primary x16.  Wondering if you go all risers and use onboard video does it not see the 5th card?  and also try on all riser with onboard off and video off card cabled to e1 (primary slot)?

Then just make sure you have VDT disabled, any m.2 not used should be disabled.  Try turning off everything not needed (audio/cpu low power states/virtualization etc).  Fast boot diasbled. Windows or Linux?

Also i assume you have tested all cards and work with risers just not with 5th installed.  And confirm it boots with 5 cards but only sees 4...or refuses to boot with 5.

Many questions Smiley

Board should do it...manual even references crypto mining in 4g section with more than 4 gpus.
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI B360-A Pro motherboard on: January 30, 2021, 06:02:02 PM
in bios make sure above 4G is enabled.
712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: January 30, 2021, 03:50:23 PM
Reminder if the miner is not from PhoenixMiner the OP and DEV of this thread then it is MALWARE.

Seems the scammer just cant keep from posting his malware in these threads.  Dont D/L ... dont install it....only get miner from posts by the one the only PhoenixMiner.

All others in this thread posting hot fixes and new versions etc...are scammers.
713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is this motherboard on sale? Does not seem to need PCIe cables for mining on: January 30, 2021, 03:41:43 PM

The dual 10 GigE is Intel. Grin

It's terrible for mining, there's no way you can put more than 3 GPUs without risers. Not enough space
and not enough power from the mobo.

It appears to have the power to the pcie bus.  But 7 would be a huge amount to put through it.  It has 2 8pin pci + 6pin pci to motherboard for additional power.

space for cards and heat would be bad.  Even the manual suggests everyother slot for quad graphics cards.

And you know how expensive this mobo will be...then the proc....only a miner looking to never ROI would use this to mine....unless he gets it for free...then all bets are off Smiley

Still a nice mobo.
714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is this motherboard on sale? Does not seem to need PCIe cables for mining on: January 30, 2021, 02:23:18 PM

No intel...its for AMD proc  Grin

Its a nice board.  Seems quite new as publish date on manual is 5 days ago.

Not sure why one would use such a high end board to mine.  An old 1151 biostar will do plenty of gpus...for way less cost.

No advantage to plugging them into the actual slots...just increases heat and strain on bus power traces.

But nice board for a pc...just a lot of waste for a mining rig.
715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: January 30, 2021, 03:50:44 AM
any idea about this?

2nd rig is around 306mhs, why is the valid shares a lot lower(always below 7000 shares) than the other rigs which has a lower hashrate?
all rigs are stable, including internet, no restart for 3days, all are phoenixminer, hiveon pool

Higher hash rate doesnt always mean higher shares.  You get paid for shares.

Did you modify your settings for virtual memory? I usually run 16 to 35gigs of virtual memory. I'm running newest AMD drivers with the newest version of Phoenix with no issues. Modded Bios in GPU's? Patch drivers?

I have the VM set to 30-45gb since I have 6 cards I need at least 29gb according to phoenix miner when it opens up.
I have the stock bios on the cards. Bios flashing on a card without dual bios is not something I'm gonna do.
It only goes to shit when the radeon driver updates. How do I stop it from auto updating?

Switch to Linux or a Linux based mining OS.

Solves it.  No VM needed...4gb ram and 8-16gb thumbdrive is all that is needed for the mining OS...no other storage needed.

718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: - Modded RX 580 BIOS - Can't overclock/underclock!!! on: January 29, 2021, 04:05:21 PM
This would let you make sure its not the OS giving you fits and if it does mine on linux..then its at least you know its not your hardware.

At most would just require a reboot to switch.

719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: - Modded RX 580 BIOS - Can't overclock/underclock!!! on: January 29, 2021, 03:37:27 PM
Try one of the linux based mining os's....

Hive is probably a good choice as it will help you mod the bios in the system.
Only needs a memory stick (usb 3.0 thumbdrive) to install...no need to redo your windows drive.

Removes all the complications of windows.
720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AORUS RTX 3080 GAMING BOX - eGPU on: January 29, 2021, 02:14:46 PM
Thry should have gpus in the box.  A few years ago i did this to get some 1080s when no stock.  Only down side was they had no shroud around fan....so just gotta be careful of the spinning open fan...but still working today Smiley
