2 Week bump. Any news? I'm assuming no, but it never hurts to ask.

1) As far as I know and can see it should do name resolution, but since this is the 1st time I am actually doing it this way does it, or am I just assuming that it does?
[
You are assuming that it does name resolution, but AFAIK, it does not. Just because a different software does name resolution (indicating that the machine is capable of doing so) does not mean that bitcoin-cli will do name resolution.

Well that is annoying. I was trying to do some load balancing using DNS, since I can set it to spit out IPs in a round-robin.
Guess I just have to code it slightly differently.

Thanks,
Dave

Does anyone know the speed that a GTX 1050 should be getting also the 1050Ti?
I'm not sure if my 25Mkey/s is proper or not because of all the problems I am having the the 7970.
Trying to narrow down the issue to card vs something (anything) else but I have no benchmark of what most of these should be giving me.

Thanks,
Dave

Sent you a PM with TxID & shipping info.
I can probably save a step and just have a portion of my paycheck direct deposited into your account :-)

The new wallet don´t run stable under windows for me.
Check your Java memory usage. I was having issues under 1.0.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2159012.msg31196845#msg31196845
Have not had this one up long enough to see, but the memory usage seems to be growing a bit faster.
I have no hard numbers to show that it is, mostly because I never recorded how fast it grew. It just 'looks' like it's faster now.

7167  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Odd questions, what I am missing? [RPC call] on: March 07, 2018, 07:50:11 PM
When using the bitcoin-cli I can use the -rpcconnect to get to an ip of another bitcoind server on the network (192.168.1.50) and it works. When I change that to node50.davetest.local it fails.
If I do a nslookup from exact same prompt for node50.davetest.local I get the correct answer so the machine is querying the correct local DNS server and it is getting the correct answer.

1) As far as I know and can see it should do name resolution, but since this is the 1st time I am actually doing it this way does it, or am I just assuming that it does?

2) If yes are there any limitations to what I can call it? (some things do fail on .local domains but very few) Does it use the system DNS servers or do I have to specify? If so how?

3) Is there anything else I am missing or can check.

For now it's working with IPs so no big deal, I was just trying to keep it a bit cleaner.

Thanks,
Dave
7168  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] BTC [W] $179 CAD purchase from Amazon or Newegg on: March 06, 2018, 02:03:48 AM
Title. Looking to exchange my BTC for CAD, in the form of an item (MasterKeys Pro L RGB with MX Brown switches keyboard). It's currently sold on Amazon Canada and Newegg for $169.99, which would be $178.49 after tax (yay Alberta!).

This can be done in a few ways, and I'll list them in the order I prefer:
1) You buy a $179 CAD Newegg gift card, doable here: https://secure.newegg.ca/GiftCard/EntryScreen.aspx
This is preferred because there's a $20 rebate at Newegg. I believe only CC is accepted for this

2) Buy it for me from my Amazon wish list.

3) Amazon gift card

As this deal is essentially BTC for CAD, I put it in the Currency Exchange section. My apologies if it's in the wrong section. As this deal involves credit card payments or AGC, I am only willing to trade with members above Full Member rank. You need to be decently tested for me to do this with you, as it's risky for me.

Will provide BTC for this. I'd like a preev +0% or low negative (as in, I give BTC worth $179 or less) as it would be better for me to sell via Quadriga otherwise.

I'm US based but I can probably do it through your Amazon wish list. PM me if interested. I'm just not sure how much of a screwing I'm going to get with the US to CAD rates through Amazon so that might be a factor.

I can see another 10% payment but where do i view old balance now? Seems to have moved/disappeared?
Are you taking about an internal or external wallet?
The external has not moved as far as I can see.
I can't get to the internal one from work (can't login) but it was there when I looked Saturday.

Thanks for the replies guys, and I'm starting to think that the problem is with the Windows firewall. Hence my move to Ubuntu.

I tend to use public WiFi, but it doen't look as if this is the problem.

Depending on what public WiFi you use it might be a small part of the issue.
I do some work for places that give free public WiFi (Some malls, some offices)
Web / HTTP traffic is given a massive priority over other traffic.

Almost all P2P stuff (games / skype / unknown traffic) is dropped to the bottom of the list.
Torrents (if the AP catches them) are throttled to 5k. The person sees good connection through the web but all other traffic is crawling so they blame the other peers.
It's actually a somewhat standard practice. So if the public WiFi you connect to is throttling it can really slow you down.

How many do you have?

Full disclosure I don't like this device:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3040601.msg31435953#msg31435953

However, I do want to get one to take it apart to see what is involved in what I am sure is a future business of replacing touchscreens.
If you have never spilled something on a piece of electronics, dropped your phone, fell and broke something in your pocket, had you cat swat something off your desk, or anything similar like most people this product is for you.
For the rest of us. KISS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_principle

I would also like one to keep as a collectable. But I really want to take one apart 1st. I figure that we will be seeing broken screens before summer.

7175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Dead Coins on: March 03, 2018, 01:55:54 PM
What do most of you do with old / dead coins and their blockchains that you have downloaded? Save the wallet.dat on a USB drive, keep the entire blockchain too just in case, or just delete it and move on?

I have a 2TB drive full of what are now and I can only assume are going to be in the future dead coin blockchanins. But, that voice in the back of my head says "you never know" you might have someone revive that coin and those 500,000 bongodrum coins might be worth BTC0.00000001 each one day.

I'm doing some cleanup of my storage PC and just can't make myself hit the delete button.
I am thinking of getting an 2TB external USB and putting it on a shelf but that means spending money for a drive, which seems silly.

What does everyone else do? Am I just a hoarder?

Has anyone here managed to claim their BTP using the tool on the website?
its working  for everyone expect HD and hardware wallet users.we are working to fix the issue with these wallets and these users will able to claim their BTP very soon.

OK, thanks for te update. I signed the address using my Ledger Nano and can confirm that my signature was not accepted. Glad to hear that you are working on that! Maybe you could post here once it is possible? Thanks!

In your signature replace the + with %2B
This may or may not work. It did for me and a few other people, it has not worked for some.
Can't hurt to try.

7177  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: TREZOR Model T touchscreen on: March 02, 2018, 07:24:12 PM
Pretty much. It just comes down to personal preference. One upside of a touch screen is probably that it will last longer compared to the buttons of the Trezor and Ledger Nano S, as they just feels so fragile in my opinion. Personally I'll stick with the Ledger Nano S though, I prefer that sort of USB flash drive look.
It's funny, I was thinking the exact opposite. In m mind it's another think to go wrong that I can't fix. Touch screens are nice, but adding complexity to something that is not user serviceable that can control money is bad IMO.

7178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 all Hasboards on X on: March 02, 2018, 03:52:44 PM
Can you put it in a warmer environment and let it warm up for an hour or two before turning it on?
Might be a bit too cold. From the bitmain website:

Operating Temperature: 0C to 40C.

Power supplies also don't like it that cold.
Also, at that temperature condensation can be an issue.

The github has been public since before the announcement and linked to from our website. At https://github.com/BITC2/bitcoin2

And this is what happens when I am online before my 1st cup of coffee.
Someone told me about this fork, I looked at your site more then once and didn't see it.

7180  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Graded MS68 Cryptolator 1BTC on: March 01, 2018, 12:46:37 PM
was this coin pre-funded before issue ... or did u do it after purchase?
Since I have a few Cryptolators, what issue? As far as I knew he just shut down, was there a key leak?
I just searched his postings and did not see any warnings.

Or do you mean that Cryptolator funded it before shipping?

Thanks,
Dave
