+1 to CGminer.; But, you need to make sure you select the correct openCL device from the drop down menu in guiminer. Each card will have a different device id. In my case it shows: [0-0]Cayman [0-1]Cypress [0-2]Cypress [0-3]Cypress
I've been mining on 3 machines since July with no issues besides a few dead PSUs. 4, 3 and 2x HD6950s in each machine. Since learning that you can use 1x PCIE raisers, I ordered 9, shorted the appropriate pins and have 5 cards hooked up to one machine now. The difference is that they're now on 1x PCIE lanes instead of 16x and 8x, which doesn't matter as 1 card will still pull ~320Mhash when mining by itself. Also, I have a separate 1250W PSU for the cards, and a 450W for the mobo/drive. Still running XP 32-bit, but with the new ATI 11.9 drivers and 201108 GUI miner Each card is visible in the Device Manager, Catalys Control Centre, and in GUI miner, and each miner was pointing to a different card. I tried again with just two cards plugged straight into the mobos 16x lanes but still have the same problem, overall hash hovers at 300. I'm gonna try a fresh install with the old 11.5 Cat and GUI miner and ini file.

I have 5 cards (6950) plugged in using PCI-E 1x extenders. When I start mining 1 card I get 330 Mhash, but when I start a 2nd, each one drops to 165 and Total is still 330 Then I start a 3rd card, and each drops to 110 and total is still 110. I've checked all the miners and they are all assigned to different GPUs. Using the latest GUI miner. Out of ideas

With the world population reaching beyond 6 Billion, and bitcoins theoretical limit of 21 million coins, regardless of decimal places, the banning of Bitcoin by Governments and Central Banks will be most welcome.
It will spark the beginning of a decentralized currency which will be far more widespread, secure, and much more of a threat to central banks and government than Bitcoin could ever have been, as it will build upon the infrastructure that is currently being laid into place.
Or it could tank and the sheep will go back to their TVs with empty pockets.

Looks like they're going for whatever $6 USD is in bitcoins. As they are not limited edition, they should get cheaper (in BTC) as the BTC value goes up, thus, they're always worth $6 USD. Also remember reading that it was ILLEGAL to mint your own currency. Not sure if that refers to counterfeiting US currency, or any currency, or if it includes "digital tokens". Not sure the fed's will care if they decide to bust you

Actually a 6950 has a top of 435 Mhash/s
Yeah, if you chuck the whole thing in a tub of liquid nitrogen

Bitcoin value should go up because it can be used to make anonymous, untraceable transactions on the internet. There is really no other way to do that right now. Only a small fraction of people (us) even know about bitcoins. Demand will definitely go up. Supply is limited. Price going up. Yay! Any professional economists to confirm? Being able to buy socks and toothpaste with bitcoins won't make any difference for the value of bitcoin. People can just use $'s for that.
Was going to bold some of that text, but its all relevant. Once the price becomes more stable (as it seems to be doing) and converting BTC back to your local currency becomes more transparent to the user, then more people will take advantage of holding bitcoins for virtual transactions as opposed to paying service, transaction and exchange fees charged by the current organizations. The price will not go anywhere near $30 for a while, as the network is over saturated with miners (like myself) who still need to cash out to cover hardware and electricity costs. Once mining becomes no longer profitable, then we will a drop in the influx of cheap bitcoins, and so long as as they become more widely accepted, then we will see their value slowly increase.

I WISH miners would quit en masse. Looked like hashing power was beginning to stabilize a few days ago at 10.0 TH, after the huge difficulty increase, but now it's rocketing up again. Not sure if it's more people joining, or big business trying to take a piece of the pie.

Hello there, I am in dire need of 1 BTC (1.01 preferred because of transaction fee). If you need to know the reason I can let you know before you send the bitcoin, but I can promise you will get it back (plus .2 BTC as payment) on the next block or two. I have feedback in the honest traders thread, and would definitely not ruin my reputation here over 1 BTC. Thanks, and please PM me if you are interested.

Yeah, the heatsinks on the XFX cards are crap. The PowerColor cards have the two fans and heatpipes, but be careful when using them side by side, the screws on the back stick way out and will interfere with the fan blades of the card above it.
Even the Sapphire cooler is better. Bigger and with heatpipes. Have no clue why XFX stuck crappy heatsinks on a card, then factory OC them.

It was still an upgrade. Say in another 10 years, my cards will be like the ancient series. Say I had a 6800 right now, it dies next year. They'd be upgrading to way beyond anything that the 6800 could preform at. Your cards might of not had a big improvement, because they were only about 3 years old? Right?
Damn, you're right, should've waited a year or two before RMAing it.. Next time...
