re: creating p2pools for alt currencies

normally I just set up a solo pool, but DOGE already had too much hashrate, so I used some p2pool network that I think had the identifier/prefixes set by rav3n?

i modify the 'punishing share' crap in my local copy so it doesn't automatically screw people over, but i suspect nobody else does this.  if a share is found locally during this non-punish time, then all the other clients will build off of this new share, as it'll be the longest chain (and it'll be based on a valid block and thus be a valid share... err.. unless some other block is found before another p2pool share)

95% of my orphans are caused by valid shares being orphaned due to new blocks being found, i suspect at least 10-15% of the total orphan/doa rate of the pool as a whole is caused by this

pls modify this for any future altcoin that has block times of 60-120s or less

ed: actually I just went ahead and made it a solo pool,  i think the lotto is more fun then getting valid shares orphaned over and over

I did not see this thread until now nor received any email in this regard.

Why were no emails sent?? ...contrary to the exchanges belief some people go on vacation and/or don't check your exchange or bct daily.

I am sure this was done on purpose to be able to pay those who were in the know funds from those in the dark.

yeah, no kidding.     i sent some crapcoins here & had no clue it was down until just now.

I gained about 40khash/s on an i7-960, about 200 on a 2x Xeon E5-1650

but my quark windows miner is something i hadn't updated in like 6+ months
727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any trust worthy dogecoin pool? on: February 04, 2014, 07:03:33 AM
I am so tired of doge scam pools, new ones pop up everyday and they last for a month or two then they shut down and run away with all the funds.
lol, stop using the open source MPOS pools
728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any trust worthy dogecoin pool? on: February 04, 2014, 07:00:46 AM
Thats because People are switching so much, Dogepool.net was one of the First and it lasts
Their orphan rate for the last week is 18%, which is insanely bad. Losing 18% of your work because the pool is poorly connected to the network is just as much a waste as losing it to fraud.

pool.dogechain.info's is 1.6% in comparison, over an order of magnitude better.

my orphan rate is 12% or so, but I still get 120% more than I should
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are your top 5 alt coins, in order? on: January 30, 2014, 06:19:38 AM
FZ - cause it's worth more then qrk atm and community driven now ( the guy who released it caused alot of drama dragging the value of FZ down and when the community took over it's higher then QRK per coin atm )

PRT - cause I like what i saw in the beta wallet ( kinda like your velcro kids wallet vs a Designer Dior wallet ) should have the option to skin your wallet also all the other wallet i have i just battleship gay with a logo I want skinz like WinAmp.Only exception in my list is worldcoin wallet as it stands out from all the other i have. Apple didnt sell stuff cause its has awesome hardware - design it well and people will want it. Make your wallet desirable....

MRC - DEV invested their own money. Estimate is 2k

MTC - cause difficulty is thru the roof, 1 CPU hashing away for one day = 1 coin

Don't have a 5th cause i just started crypto at xmas last yr and wouldn't recommend QRK if your just starting out. I have some but not alot. its hard to get but there is already a lot out there. As an invester - maybe different.

FZ isn't worth more than Quark. Look on www.coinmarketcap.com someone at FZ probably lied to you pretty well. Oh if you're talking about per coin then you're not looking at the correct information.

fz is 'worth more than qrk atm'

there is nothing wrong with his statement

maybe you've been hitting the bottle a bit too much

732  Other / Meta / Re: It's Time For Theymos To Kill The Alt Section on: January 29, 2014, 10:16:47 PM
Why don't you limit posts in Altcoin section to > Sr. Members ?

That would be quite extreme. Especially given that the majority of "new" devs wouldn't even be able to post about their own coins.
The majority of new coins are scams anyways.
Something has to be done, I used to post and read a lot in the alt section but now it's not worth anyone's time, there is too much garbage. Too many bots and new users are in there trying to scam..Even though I have more value in alts than in bitcoin, I'd gladly support forcing the change.

Or you can be more sincere and say that you just  are afraid that some Alt may dethrone BTC....  Roll Eyes

indeed

that is why i am holding on to all of my "Sexcoins"

they will obv be the currency of the future

Don't think we'll add it - no github, continious development, unstable wallet. Maybe later.

Just thought I'd mention that I have a p2pool at http://nogleg.com:1911/static/ if you a) don't like MPOS open source pool (or don't trust the ppl that run the MPOS pool), b) if you want to pay a much smaller fee than the one at http://fz.mine-pool.net/ or c) if you have a rly good connection to Germany.

my frozen stuff is all stored in RAM, just like DOGE and NET2 pools

Hey zvs thats awesome.

Thanks for setting up another pool!

It was the first for Frozen, I think... then I took it down for a week or two, then I put it back up.  It's been up again like 3 weeks, I think...  though I just now decided to fix it so it can handle more volume, heh
