761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DATA - Authority or Association? on: August 01, 2013, 10:11:16 PM
Lol at giving self-entitled names to their entities

We have the bitcoin FOUNDATION. Ye well, no, it is just your private group and forum, it is not a "foundation"

Now suddenly we even have an AUTHORITY. Ye well, again, just no, it is still your private group and nothing more.

Clearly, the only thing this AUTHORITY can do is regulate themselves and nothing more. They don't make rules, laws or anything else. They can't "regulate" anything.

Mandatory membership and having to pay to join? Ehy wait a moment, let me create the Gabi Foundation, let's make membership to it mandatory so i become RICH!!!  Cheesy

The problem is that this can only end bad: look at how regulations fucked the current system

765  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-07-26 Bitcoin activists propose hard fork to Bitcoin to keep it anonymous a on: July 30, 2013, 02:07:06 PM
There are already tons of hard forks of bitcoin, there is even a section of this forum dedicated to them. Nothing new Smiley
766  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2013, 06:10:02 PM
You are defining a joke image as "inappropriate" and "should never have been posted here"

It is just an image with pink and some gifs  Undecided

Oh so now it is about censorship, right.

Women dominated forums exist, so it is clear that being on internet is not a problem for women. The question is: why for some arguments we have women dominated forums while for others (cryptocurrencies) no?

770  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2013, 05:56:17 PM
Basing on what he says, if a man go on a women dominated forum and post that image the forum will become completely desert  Cheesy
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA to new users of bitcoin on: July 24, 2013, 05:54:04 PM
2)Ye well november, but you can already preorder it.

772  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2013, 05:51:23 PM
So now jokes are forbidden? The next time a man will make a joke on a man i expect you to instantly come and ban him! But guess what, it seems these jokes are fine  Roll Eyes

What if who made the image is a woman? As i said, you can't know the sex of someone on the internet!
773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA to new users of bitcoin on: July 24, 2013, 05:47:46 PM
1)This thread is from april

2)Get a HARDWARE WALLET like Trezor

Hardware wallet weren't available back in april but they are now. So go and get one. Problem solved.
774  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2013, 05:44:00 PM
I have to add another thing: there are a lot of women on internet, but on forums for other arguments. Why? Again, i don't know.
775  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2013, 05:39:07 PM
Why? Jokes are made on men too. Actually, since this forum is made of mostly men, most jokes are about men. But no one ever ask for that to stop. Weird.

If someone, no matter the sex, make a good software and post it, people will use it, no matter the sex. Same for a good service. For a good product.

Some trolls posting some pictures just can't influence this.

776  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2013, 05:32:36 PM
I realize much of the thread is joking, but that doesn't justify this outrageous sexism.

Yes, women use Bitcoin. Yes, they are sufficiently tech-savvy to do it. If you look at this thread, you will find that over 7% of users on this forum are female. It is irresponsible to denounce almost 50% of the world population in this way.

If there's a reason that fewer women frequent these forums than men, it is because of the hostile environment. BitcoinTalk is not Saudi Arabia. We are not to stereotype any gender, profession, race, or location. What is Bitcoin about? Decentralization. Money in the hands of the people—all people.

Women are integral parts of the Bitcoin ecosystem. Lindsay Holland is the assistant director of the Bitcoin Foundation. All top Bitcoin companies, including the former BitInstant, BFL, Mt. Gox, BitPay, etc., employ women. A woman owns the eminent Bitcoin stock exchange and options market, MPOE/MPEX. Bitcoin would not nearly be where it is now had not been for the tireless work and support of women. This fact must be respected, not dismissed. The stereotyping in this thread is simply unacceptable.
Wtf are you speaking about?
On the internet sex does not matter. Do we know the sex of the creator of bitcoin? No. Because it does not matter. Sexism, hostile environment, saudi arabia, lolwut? No one stop anyone from using bitcoin. If there are so few women it is their choice. If they want to use it, they can use it without problems.

You are speaking about "women" like if they are something special, something different  Roll Eyes
777  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2013, 12:14:08 PM
I remember a survey stating that only 3% of the bitcoin population are women. Why so low? I have no idea, here on the internet sex does not matter after all, only what you DO matter.
Maybe we should ask some feminists  Roll Eyes

Poor newbies, it is VERY CONFUSING to actually HAVE TO READ  Sad

779  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie notification on: July 23, 2013, 11:57:07 AM
Hi All,

Just a quick note to admins, it took me a couple of visits before I realized why I could not post or reply.

I thought my profile was faulty.

I think it would be handy for some extra notification to the fact you have no permissions etc.  I have used lots of forums but the whole newbie thing here is not that obvious really.

Regards

Mr T

So you are unable to read the T&C you accepted? But you are able to happily and quickly open a thread where you whine and cry about that.  Roll Eyes

Oh and yes, the newbie section is exactly for that: to avoid people like you to freely roam the forum and spam everywhere

Even then, would they know how to backup a wallet.dat file? would they know how to encrypt? Probably not. Remember guys, most of us here are fans of and experts on computers/networking/technology.
This can be fixed with a hardware wallet like Trezor

The bitcoin ecosystem is growing, it takes time. Once getting a hardware wallet will be easy using bitcoin will be much much safer

Same for other things, it takes time and work.
