Thanks D&T, so you can have two passwords for the same wallet. Interesting.
762  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Recovery Services - for forgotten wallet password on: November 19, 2013, 08:34:14 AM
I see you are using Amazon cloud hashing for this, ever considered using GPUs or a farm of GPUs?
763  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Question about how bitcoin wallets and backups work on: November 19, 2013, 08:28:57 AM
So I have a wallet installed on one machine, I encrypt it with a password, and then backup the wallet.dat to a USB stick

Now I take that USB stick to a new machine, install bitcoin-qt and drag the wallet.dat from the USB stick and replace the default wallet

NOW I change the password on this new machine. So now the same wallet has 2 passwords which can access it?

765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at the US Senate on: November 18, 2013, 06:40:59 AM
The government is all talking about "fraud prevention" and "consumer protection"

Thats a blatant lie and actually they do not give a rats ass about protecting consumers, otherwise all those late night infomercials telling you how to become a millionare, and websites promising to make you "$30K per month from your computer" simply would not exist. Butterfly Labs would not exist. For Christ sake, Citibank and half the other banks who sold us on bogus credit default swaps wouldnt exist, as they are all scammers, cons, and crooks. Cliff notes is this, is doesnt matter who you scam if you can pay your taxes and pay whatever "fines" they levy on you in court, which in the world of banking and pro scamming is just looked at as a cost of doing business.

They want to control it. First it starts with "monitoring" and "regulation," then it moves to "auditing" and "taxation" and "identity verification" and blacklisting coins, then eventually they use "eminent domain" on the bitcoin protocol and begin issuing coins themselves to "better protect the American public."

How people cant see that amazes me.

What the hells happened to this forum?!?. People making massive wild assumptions which reach the point of somehow becomming fact, then turning into a fever and all kinds of negative "BURN THE WITCHES" threads popping up.

I had hoped there would be more adults here, ones willing to , you know, actually realise its mearly at the DISCUSSION STAGE, that being an adult is looking at a situation from ALL ANGLES, to discuss, debate, and THEN start forming strategys and conclusions.

This is very very early days still, and yet people here are acting like TEH BIG CONSPIRACY TAKEOVER HAS BEGUN!!

Gimme a break....

In the U.S.A. taxes were introduced as a "temporary" measure.

In 1971, Nixon decided to "temporarily" remove the Gold fix for the US Dollar.

In 2013, the Bitcoin Foundation is "just discussing" major issues with the US Government.

See a pattern here at all?

Have to say I dont want to sound hysterical but Im in agreement here.

A lot of places dont accept credit cards for this very reason. Cash Only.

In the future Im guessing they will be Bitcoin and Cash only.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who here actually bought something with btc in last 6 months? on: November 18, 2013, 06:20:16 AM

I dont know if poker chips count but I play a lot on Seals With Clubs
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin linked to drugs on: November 17, 2013, 03:20:17 AM
I believe it is necessary to fight with roots of the problem, not with consequences. The roots are drugs dealers existence. Not the bitcoin existence.

The roots are people wanting to do drugs.

i get that USD is used for drug transactions.. but the thing is that BTC allows for criminals to have more options of storing their cash.. options that would otherwise not exist. i'm not for regulation of btc btw, but it's the truth.

Crooks will always find a way. It is a losing battle. Don't fight losing battles.

the fact still stands though: it makes being a crook easier. i'm not for regulating BTC, but the media uses this angle all the time.

How is it different than cash which I can just store in a safety deposit box?
770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin linked to drugs on: November 17, 2013, 03:19:27 AM

Now here is the funny part :

When these drug dealers get this dirty cash they can't put it in the bank because its dirty money and the government will be very suspicious so these drug dealers get all there drug money and go and buy bitcoins then the next week they sell those bitcoins and can show the government those recipes.

Look Uncle Sam, here is the recipe for Bitcoin Pie! Please dont indict me on money laundering!
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we discuss an alternative entity to the bitcoin foundation? on: November 16, 2013, 04:06:48 PM

773  Economy / Services / Poker Coaching - Any Skill Level on: November 15, 2013, 07:07:32 PM
If you want to get better at poker, I can help you. Ive coached several players on the twoplustwo poker forums and staked/coached players on Seals With Clubs as well, where I play under the name "chronicdog" and have won well over 100 coins from a deposit of 7. Ive been a professional No Limit Holdem player live and online for over 5 years.

No matter your skill level from total novice to advanced player looking to plug some leaks I can help you, whether its tournament play or ring games from 9max all the way down to headsup play. I will set you on a path of becoming a winner or increasing your winrate through some time tested concepts which cover not only the technical aspects of the game of poker but also the meta-game such as game/seat selection, bankroll management, and emotional control. I can offer coaching which applies to both live and online, as Im quite familiar with both aspects of the game and can tailor what we do to the games you play.

The time is spent analyzing your play through database analysis, "sweating" where I watch you play via Teamviewer and analyze the play in realtime, and playing each other heads up (for insignificant stakes - Im trying to teach you not take your money). You will also take a custom multiple choice test that I have designed to analyze your basic playing ability and poker knowledge. I will get a sense for where your game is at and design a course to improve your play as rapidly as possible.

My time is not cheap as anytime I am teaching you I wont be playing myself, and I am essentially teaching you how to make money/bitcoins anytime from anywhere, which is a highly valuable skill. Its $85/hour + a flat rate for database analysis which is somewhat variable depending on the stakes/games you play and number of hands youve played online. At this point Im only accepting Bitcoin payments but I may consider paypal after we establish a relationship. We can arrange payment via the hourly rate or if you want I can offer a slight discount for time purchased in 10 hour blocks which is highly recommended as I will not charge you separately for the database analysis - this is done on my own time and can take quite a while. The minimum time is two hours, and we will chat via Skype to set everything up, or if you are in the NYC metro area I also offer sit-down, face-to-face in person coaching.

Please PM me if you want more details. Thanks

Id be interested in buying a few, but Id need to know prices on 5-10 at a time and saying you have almost everything, well, almost is a big difference...
776  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC Robot - Worlds First Bitcoin Robot on: November 15, 2013, 05:20:03 PM
if the bot is so successful, why not trade thousands of BTC with it, and make millions of dollars, rather than sell it cheap to people in the Newbie forum?

Hmmmmmmmmmm??? HHMMMMMMMMM?Huh

778  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I buy bitcoin or litecoin? Or both? on: November 15, 2013, 05:10:12 PM
I've noticed the price of LTC go up to 4 USD on BTC-e, but it's been pretty disappointing in general.

Yeah its only up 80x from the start of the year, pretty disappointing, big waste of time, no future in Litecoin, move along, nothing to see here
779  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats the cheapest bitcoin you got? on: November 15, 2013, 05:06:43 PM
$12, played poker on Seals With Clubs with them and turned them into many more coins that are now worth much, much more.

But yeah, wish I had bought a lot more obviously! If I had only invested in BTC rather than giving that money to BFL... Embarrassed
780  Economy / Speculation / Re: I fear a collapse on: November 15, 2013, 04:55:51 PM
The real threat to Bitcoin, which can cause a total collapse, is regulation. The US Gov wants to control you, and the best way to do this is to control your access to and use of money. If they cant tax you and monitor how and where you spend your money, they lose their total power over you.

Sadly, there is a big push right now to regulate Bitcoin and I do believe that it might be the beginning of the end:
