761  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying food with BTC on: August 03, 2023, 04:35:46 PM
Well I think you could search online about restaurant that accept Bitcoin as mode of payment in your specific area. Because here in my country, even if you search there's only a few businesses that accept Bitcoin worse is that is too far from my place so it might be a same scenario to you. I don't know you could convert your Bitcoin to fiat money to avoid the hassle of finding restaurant wtih Bitcoin transaction.

And also if you're gonna pay why not just bother using fiat right? I mean we all know that Bitcoin has a lot more potential than USD so save yourself an inconvenience. But if you're really trying to find one just to use Bitcoin for payment as an experience then go for it. Hope you can find some in your place because here is too seldom to have Bitcoin in any transaction.
762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just Another Good Source Of Motivation For You ... on: August 03, 2023, 10:13:36 AM
Well, that's one way to think about it. If you can spend stupendous amounts of money on experience and stuff that wouldn't last you, why not spend over something that will last you for a lifetime, maybe even something you can pass on to your subjects right? It's a pretty skewed concept but it drives the importance of investing and preparing for your future even more which is massive especially nowadays when people are finding it even hard to invest money thanks to inflation, but are not going to think twice about buying the latest iPhone, or going on that trip to Bali on a haphazard budget.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should conduct frugality and become a miser just so you can earn more money, but there has to be a balance and a lack of bias between spending for experiences and nice stuff, and investing for yourself so you can buy more of those nice stuff right?

For sure one main reason for that is people doesn't have financial knowledge or mentor. That once they have some amount of money they would just spend it to a temporary things or unnecessary. Why do you think people despite the fact that they could get rich with the amount of money they received from their salaries? Of course they don't have an idea about investing as they just providing all their satisfaction by just buying things which that feeling wouldn't even last. Investing is really a good as it could secure your future in a long run, also remember that inflation also increases in a long period of time.

You do actually have a point as those temporary experiences, you could still experience them and more financially stable in the future. I think maybe the difference is the age that people would just go YOLO since they don't have much time left.
763  Economy / Economics / Re: The American Dream. What is Your Country's Version of it? on: August 02, 2023, 04:40:52 PM
My country doesn't have a version of the American dream. Maybe my country's deviated version of the American dream would be to have a rich relative and use his connections and influence to help me get a good job and climb the social ladder. This is nepotism/crony capitalism basically. Grin Unfortunately nepotism is more cherished than hard work where I live. USA isn't what it used to be. The amount of immigrants doing to America trying to chase the American dream is decreasing every year. USA is turning slowly into a shithole and that was pretty much expected.

Well I could relate, I don't know how to explain the American Dream in my country which is PH because I think there's none? The fact that there's a lot of corrupt officials here that American Dream won't even matter to some people. That's why a lot of people here would prefer to work abroad just to chase that dream because there's less opportunity here. They would build that dream to other country where they could dream higher from there. In my case, I would just love to life in other country, I know there's also difficulty in there what country doesn't have an issue right? But maybe the difference about the opportunity and the improvement of the economy here has a huge gap to other country. I don't know even some healthcare here would cost you much.
764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 18, holding my bitcoin and looking forward :) on: August 02, 2023, 04:18:47 PM
The only thing that can stop bitcoin is probably the government.
No they can't.

--Knight Hider

They can't control it but for sure they could ban it like in some other countries.

I am 18 yo
schooling in private college
I flip stuff for cash part time regularly to make some extra cash

I have 1 Bitcoin @ 29k  & I keep about $3000 in cash in my bank as emergency fund

I have 3 months study break so I am most probably gonna take on a job to fund the bitcoin , trying to fund as much as I can before the halving in 2024

I have been researching on bitcoin for a few months now and by researching I meant like the purpose of bitcoin and I see how it is so much better than fiat(cash) . The only thing that can stop bitcoin is probably the government. After understanding the purpose of bitcoin it gave me more confidence on buying it and not seeing it as a 'investment' but more of a freedom digital currency.

I am gonna start deciding to sell it at end of 2024 , but I guess i could wait till end of 2025.

Hopefully bitcoin can save me from this crazy inflation and break me out of this financial crisis.
If you guys have any tips , do let me know ... I would be very grateful for it.

That's actually good to start early as long as it doesn't affect your studying at college. Starting early would give you an advantage as you could still more learn earlier and benefit more as you have more time to gain knowledge about Bitcoin, because some people discovered Bitcoin late and they already having difficulty from understanding it due to some people doesn't really understand how digital or online works.

Good thing about your post OP. is that you have a goal but let me tell you that despite of being optimistic about Bitcoin we couldn't still predict the outcome of Bitcoin due to volatility and some news that could affect the market. Still it's up to you if the market you're aiming doesn't meet your expectation. you could sell or hodl. Since you have a lot of time in your hands to reenter the market. But for sure holding will payout in the future. Bitcoin couldn't be affected by inflation so investing here is a good thing.

765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Going to Bitcoin events on: August 01, 2023, 05:31:11 PM
Well in my country there's still a lot of people that are aware and really good at crypto industry and blockchain technology so it wouldn't be a surprised to have such any events about Bitcoin. Though of course some people are not aware from it since the event are it's either posted from a crypto group that some people could be interested to it. My friends actually attended one, they find a lot of freebies that would caught you to have interest about Bitcoin and crypto. Some would give you prizes thru crypto such as Bitcoin, ETH and etc. They've actually won a free NFT by jsut participating in a game and they are so proud. Of course if you don't have any idea about it, it wouldn't caught your attention.

Actually there's a gaming event or cosplay event here in the PH, and you can still see some merchandise with a Bitcoin's logo giving free giveaways. There's also a game that would ask you a little quiz like you can see in the internet where vloggers would ask people like "what's the gravity of the earth and you could win $100" something like that as long as it's related to Bitcoin. I don't know I just find it amazing that despite any event you could see some people introducing bitcoin for other people to acknowledge them.
766  Economy / Economics / Re: What's the effect of having plenty children to the national economy of a country on: August 01, 2023, 05:09:16 PM
Is there an effect both positive or negative to the county's economy when couples have plenty children?

In the past before the current economic era, around the 15th century and the beginning of the French industrial revolution, having many children was seen as fertility and good for both the family work force and country's also. The labour force was majorly manual and those who worked at the plantations were sort after as able bodied men or women.

But at the moment, what is the viability of having many children especially as it could reduce the per capital income.

It would really depends on the country because I have seen some statistics that having no child is a negative impact for them as they are low population for example Japan. In my country's case which is the PH, having a lot of children especially to the people who doesn't have a stable job to support their child and they are only relying on the government supports is a negative impact. I think one of the factor from that is they don't have a proper family planning as almost 3-4 children are commonly the thing that a family have despite the fact that they don't have an income. Of course it would increase the poverty statistics in the country where the government would need to support them but still if many people have the same case, it would be a toxic to the country itself that's why giving a free seminars on family planning to every citizen is a must.
767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if salaries were paid in BTC on: August 01, 2023, 04:48:56 PM
That is true, additionally bitcoin's value goes and up and down and hence is not stable enough as means for salary. A lot of workers will find this inconvenient as many uses their salary to pay for fix bills (like rents and loans) and so they will have a problem with the changes of bitcoin value. As far as possibility, it is far from ever happening.

I agree that Bitcoin volatility may be the reason why people may hesitate to take salaries in BitcoinBTC but if people are clever enough, they would know that Bitcoin prices will always be moving in the upward direction in the long run. So even if they take salaries in bitcoin, they can convert them instantly into fiat money and keep some savings still in bitcoin for the long term.

If you ask me to keep some money saved for the future, I will always prefer Bitcoin over a dollar or any other local currency. The reason for this is that the value of your money in dollars will always decrease due to inflation and the money in bitcoin will always increase due to limited supply.

Of course we would prefer Bitcoin over dollars as we know the potential and value of Bitcoin. We have knowledge for Bitcoin that we would like to be paid in Bitcoin but how about the other workers? Not only the volatility of Bitcoin would be the issue for them but also the hassle that they still need to study Bitcoin and knows how it works like converting it to fiat money because not all people have the time to study as they really need to work their ass off just to provide their needs or for their family. Maybe it would work for people like us as we know how to manipulate Bitcoin. It might be possible in the very future since people might get difficult to understand from the transition of currencies.
768  Economy / Economics / Re: Reason why you will never become rich on: July 31, 2023, 05:18:42 PM
Those who are rich must have families. Can anyone succeed without the help of family?
I think so. There are many millionaires and billionaires around the world who have succeeded and built their empires without a family by their sides. Maybe that is why they had a lot of time and conditions to dedicate and focus on their financial and professional development, although after all they become what we call eccentric millionaires, who are lonely and have nothing besides a plenty of money to spend, waste and boast around.

So it really doesn't look a fair exchange in the end to sacrifice the social aspect of their lives for more money and financial achievements.

Exactly, the family will just guide you their own way to success but we all know that we are all unique and have different skills that could give us advantage for being rich. I think they are lucky enough to have a rich family as they could find their own way to success freely since they have the support of the family as they provide the financial needs you'll be needing in the process. But for those who doesn't have their back by their family has a lot of experience before reaching success as they need to sacrifice, suffer and endure those problems and issues on their own. Yeah I have a belief that you can't have everything in this world, there's something you will feel you lack of it's either to financial, love, family or anything else because that's human nature.
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you use Bitcoin to pay everything online? on: July 31, 2023, 04:48:43 PM
It's possible since Bitcoin is a digital currency where it do a lot of transactions online. But only if it's already adopted by most of the people, in the situation right now there's still a lot of people doesn't trust Bitcoin and consider it as a scam so they don't acknowledged it to use for everyday life. Still there's a lot of businesses that are open to Bitcoin as they accept payments with the use of crypto. For sure the seller or the owner have ideas and background about crypto industry or blockchain technology to accept bitcoin as payment. So far all I know if people would use it as payment they would still need to convert it to known digital transactions such as Paypal and in my country which is called Gcash so people can use it cause as I said some are not yet aware of Bitcoin existence.

771  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading or investment! What's your take? on: July 30, 2023, 01:31:17 PM
I am better on it as an investor.

I've tried to be a trader but most of the time, it's not doing good. Although I still do some trades but it is no longer the same as how I trade before like doing it for every day.

Now, it's like whenever I think that I'll make some profit and that's how I do the trade and making sure that I will make a profit and not just a random trade.

It's always the right way to follow whatever you think that will help you, there are many traders who commit big mistake and the consequences is they lost a lot, if you are not that comfortable with your skills then investing may help you, you can buy and hold while trying to learn more about strategy that may work with your chosen assets.

If there's a good open opportunity as to how you describe what you are doing right now, then it may give you that potential to earn
decently.

Trading could might have an easy money depends on your skills, so people might enter trading as they thought they could easily earn money in a short term. Always remember that you're putting your money at risk so find what suits for your skills. While in investing there's a lot to invest like businesses, forex, crypto industry, real estate and etc. Just find where you are comfortable to risk your money as long as you have the knowledge background where you gonna invest. Personally investing is also a good choice since you've come from trading so you are already aware of the market. If you think you are not yet good enough for both, then study more since you already have the opportunity to learn where everything of the information are in the internet.
772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if salaries were paid in BTC on: July 30, 2023, 12:20:00 PM
A friend of mine in our discussion today about Bitcoin was insisting that salaries and wages be paid in Bitcoin in some countries.
I was of the opinion that the government will not allow fiat to be replaced by Bitcoin .so what is your take on this will it be a positive move on the Bitcoin ecosystem or not

So far, I haven't met anybody in my hometown that is being paid in Bitcoins for his main salary. It's one thing to work on the side for some projects and be paid in BTC, but to receive all your money in BTC only might be a bit hard. First of all, the government wants its taxes in their own Fiat money. Sending them monthly BTC for the tax bill is probably not going to be accepted. The same goes for all the utility bills and other living expenses, I have to pay everything in Euro and can't choose to use BTC. It would be nice if the world changes so much that we could choose freely in which currency we want to pay our bills, but I don't see this happening any time soon. So, the only alternative is to exchange our BTC to Fiat on a regular basis each week or month, which creates a big risk if the BTC price moves in the wrong direction. Short term price movements could lead to financial losses if we need to pay bills during bear markets.

You still need to convert it to your own currency, even if you were paid in bitcoin. You are right; only a few merchants accept bitcoin as payment, and again, they are so few that you also don't notice them because most of the services that we pay for are in fiat. I haven't seen one that was receiving bitcoin as their main salary, but my coworker is almost doing this because we are paid via Paypal and it is banned in their country. I've tried to ask him, but he refuses, as I've seen again on TV that bitcoin is illegal.

As long as fiat remains the main currency of the world, getting a salary in bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency will bring more disadvantages than benefits. I will decline if my main job is paid in bitcoin, I don't find it as interesting or convenient as many people are saying. Even I believe that even the salary we earn on this forum, many people will convert it into fiat as soon as payment is received. So, what is the convenience of getting a salary in bitcoin here?
We take our salary in fiat and then invest in bitcoin as much as we want, that's been going on for 14 years, and has anyone experienced any inconvenience?

But if we look at it, there's a few jobs that are paid in Bitcoin like for example here in the forum which is the signature campaign that they will pay you thru BTC. So in short, I think it would only work in crypto currencies related work since the employee or the worker are aware on how Bitcoin works despite it's volatility. I think they would like to be paid in BTC than in fiat currency since they could hold more BTC without investing fiat money. But if it comes to corporations work? Nah of course it would not be a good idea, it's like giving them a random amount of money since BTC are volatile it changes it's value time to time. And the fact that's the hassle you'll need to do since you will still need to convert it to fiat money so you could use it plus the transaction fees.
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a steady income haven on: July 30, 2023, 11:20:19 AM
Maybe when they are in a winning position, and why they return to gambling is because they feel that making money from gambling is an easy thing than doing a business that requires a lot of effort, a lot of time, a lot of energy and a lot of capital to build, because that's the reason they always back into gambling, and thought that he would get a continuous income from gambling, even though that was foolishness, gambling is a place for fun, not a place to gamble fate.
If they will continue with this kind of mindset they will start to quit their jobs thinking that they already found a passive income which is not. If they did this it will just only gambling with their entire life and career as well. Some people can really create money with gambling those are veterans and they know how to disciplined themselves so there is no problem with that of course.

Only thing that could give you a stable income is using that winning money to an investment such as investment into businesses or crypto. There's no such thing as gambling as their source of income unless they are professional gambler where they are paid to play with advertisement included. Despite the strategies and skills, it will always depends on luck which you could never rely your needs to a "luck". You could actually earn or profit in gambling day by day but of course in everyday it doesn't have the same amount of profits which makes you stake more money just provide your needs. Never settle into luck and have a stable job don't ever gambling all of your savings it will just worsen your situation.
774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just Another Good Source Of Motivation For You ... on: July 30, 2023, 10:35:44 AM
This analogy is relevant for people in 1st world countries. Rest of the world don't spend so much on food

Nah I think it's still applicable to some countries not only in the 1st world countries. I'm in middle class living in the PH, and based on my experience there's still people would spend a lot of money for foods just to prove that they could afford it, despite the financial status. Yeah of course they would post it in social media to show that "We and my family ate in this expensive restaurant", of course I know that person is not that financially stable since he's asking to borrow some money for me sometimes. I think the problem here is the comparison to others or they don't like to be judged that they couldn't afford such expensive restaurant. Maybe occasionally is fine but bruh spending all of your money to cafe, fastfood and restaurant usually would make you broke.
775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When it's all set and done, do not forget those in need. on: July 30, 2023, 09:09:41 AM

So instead of showing off how successful you have become always remember that you don't get there alone, it happened through the help of others that bought from you.

Well there's nothing wrong for you being proud for your efforts in becoming successful, but always remind that you need to limit sharing your achievements online since it might be threat that could risk your safety. For sure we're not only one who's being part of the market that anyone could take advantage some would lose and some would win. But as a person who took effort to study Bitcoin for years and invested almost all of their savings, it's okay to be proud for yourself but no need to brag just stay humble there's more blessings to come as long as were consistent.

Quote

So try as much as possible to help those that are in need in your surroundings, or help others that are living far away from you, you can do this anonymously too if you think it's not safe, this is the right way to bring back into the community.

Yes, in research in helping others would have a great impact not only to the person that you've helped but also to yourself as human being. The great feeling that the fact you helped someone that could also change their life. I don't know why I hate some people online where they posting that they helped someone just to gain likes, if their motive is to give inspiration to others then it's valid for me. As long as you know to yourself that you're doing the good thing.
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: July 29, 2023, 05:35:18 PM
I think it's morally and ethically wrong to sell your wife's jewelry without her own consent even if you can earn quite huge profits by selling her jewelry. Investing in Bitcoin is a great thing but only for the ones who have spare money because selling your assets for purchasing of Bitcoin isn't recommended at all, and anyone who does that can face huge problems due to the volatility of the market, and also because of someone less understanding of the technical aspects of it.
I understand that the wife was not opposed to selling her jewelry, but this does not change the fact that it looks more like some kind of adventure. As sure as the OP is not into bitcoin, there is still the possibility of a protracted bear market, but what if it lasts too long and the next bull market comes in 15 years or more? You need to proceed from the funds that you have to buy bitcoin.

As long as you understand that the property you will be selling own by your wife is that she's okay with it. And always double think that sometimes your wife might always agree with you because it talks about money. But sometimes those valuable have sentimental value that couldn't be bought by money such as the memories like given by your grandmother. But if you guys doesn't really have any other alternatives option to earn money to invest in Bitcoin then go for it. But in my case, I would never touch my wife's jewelry it's like their own thing like the guy loving their own cars. I would find a stable job and plus other side jobs to have extra money to invest. We know that the earlier the better since Bitcoin's value is affordable before it reach Bull market. But I would take my time to have the funds to enter the market without selling my wife's properties.
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Community research: To drink or to buy coins? on: July 29, 2023, 04:42:13 PM
I usually drink milktea and of course I choose the affordable one which doesn't hurt to my wallet that cost around $1-2. I think you would love the taste of it especially if you always crave it. But yeah the thing is after you've finish drinking it there's a thought that it would be better to save those dollars for investment, because I don't know after drinking I just have the unsatisfying feeling because I could drink water which is more healthy to hydrate yourself. Maybe if I calculate all of those cost of buying milktea it might reach $10-20. But as of now, I've surpassed that buying milktea as a part of the lifestyle which I think it's good cause those spare money could go straight to investment. If you want changes you can actually do it because once you've succeed at investing at Bitcoin you could buy any amount you want.
778  Economy / Economics / Re: What roles does the poor play in the Economy? on: July 29, 2023, 03:27:56 PM
In what ways have the people living in poverty impacted in the economy?
Share your ideas on the importance of the poor masses in economy sustainability.
You are able get your vegetables and food because of the poor who are working under extreme conditions to cultivating and harvesting the farm yields. I know it has been said that the rich are the thinkers and strategist but the poor are the doers. Without them the economy would crumble. How do you think the UAE and other Middle Eastern countries became what it is today? The poor built that country and by extension their economy with their life. I don't even want to bring up the building of the world cup stadiums etc. The economy of many nations would crumble without the poor doing the dirty jobs.

Yes indeed, without the laborers that work for them they are also nothing as they are the mind but not the doer. I don't even consider them as poor which classify by the society because we all have the same role which is to contribute and get paid for it. I only differ them with the education since mostly from the poor doesn't have proper education that's why some of the rich people could take advantage from it for example if the poor work for them, they could split the profit to 70% to the rich while the 30% for the poor since they are not aware from that situation. Because mind itself wouldn't even do the work, you'll need people to help you finish some project so those people who doesn't have educational attainment would apply for that role since it doesn't need any requirements as degrees.
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the impact of this news on Bitcoin adoption ? on: July 29, 2023, 01:34:04 PM
The news that they would accept bitcoin in those stations is not a big deal, but we can't help but welcome any small bit of popularity bitcoin gains because it leads to more adoption. We want something massive, something that will convince the entire globe that bitcoin is here to stay. Even though I desperately want this to happen, I believe it will take some time. Let the bitcoin adoption continue....
No need to rush, let Bitcoin adoption take its course. Haven't we reached this point, showing extraordinary progress? I call it extraordinary, of course this doesn't seem like other assets can do it. Imagine an anonymous Bitcoin creator but the results are so trusted by many people, institutions, large companies and even countries that have started to open up to the existence of Bitcoin. This is what I call the ordinary, letting people realize how important Bitcoin is in the future it will gradually become.

It's really extraordinary because progress is a progress when it comes to adoption of Bitcoin. This is actually a good news to Bitcoin because imagine Bitcoin back then existing but are not yet acknowledged by people or use to everyday life. People love Bitcoin as you could use it anonymously and the fact that it is decentralized. And the fact that most of the country are slowly adopting Bitcoin as they legalized it. But for sure some of them banned it for their own reasons maybe it could affect their economy as they lost power to control currencies.
780  Other / Archival / Re: How to manage bitcoin correctly? on: July 29, 2023, 11:50:12 AM
When BTC reached $69000. I didn't choose to sell it. but the current price of Bitcoin dropped to less than $30000. Is it the most reasonable choice to sell BTC now and turn your attention to other investments? I hope to get some good suggestions. Although I have held BTC for many years. I am not good at management.

And why do you think you're still holding BTC for years if you think there's much better investment than Bitcoin? I mean it's normal for Bitcoin to drop it's value since it's volatile, no need to panic selling or buying as long as you know what are you trying to achieve. For example your planning to reach thousands of dollars so when that time comes you could sell, there's no bad thing as long as you are contented with your profits. Because I think the thought of BTC will increase again despite reaching your target value, I would consider it as greediness.
