7701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lucky Bitcoiner on: February 19, 2021, 12:37:50 AM
On the random note of watching YouTube videos came across this Lucky Bitcoiner whose house is extravagant. Have anyone came across similar lucky persons who are rich enough through bitcoin. I'm completely excited on watching the video, because to own such a mansion isn't an easy thing.
Lucky Bitcoiner

Having a giant and luxurious house doesn't necessarily mean that the person is as  rich as it looks like. Maybe he spent all his money in that house, which will cost him a lot in the future just to maintain it (keeping it clean, everything working, etc).

I am sure there are a lot of people who are richier but prefer to live a low profile life, without having an extravagant cars, lambos, etc. Because those things will cost a lot of money each year, and they won't make you happy by themselves.

Personally, I would prefer to spend that money traveling, eating good food and living in a smaller house near the beach Smiley

I would maybe buy a tesla if it costs just a few mBTC lol

7703  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to execute bitcoin transactions in a decentralized way? on: February 18, 2021, 06:28:40 PM
I'm working on a project to automate donating bitcoins to charity every time a specific user mentions #Bitcoin on Twitter. To make this possible, people who want to donate would need to send bitcoins to an address holding all the coins in the meantime. And then when the condition is met (person mentions #bitcoin in a tweet), the bitcoins would be sent to the bitcoin address of a charity.

Obviously for security reasons, I shouldn't know the private key of the address holding the donations or that would allow me to control the donations. So I'm trying to figure out how can the donations be sent to charity without any one person knowing the private key of the wallet?

Thank you

You cannot spend bitcoins without knowing the private key.
So, you cannot spend my bitcoins when you mention #bitcoin in your twitter account.

But you can fire up emails with your tweet/public address (and qr code) when you mention #bitcoin. The user would only have to scan your QR code in the e-mail to send the donation

You can also generate a full Payment Request using blockchain.com website and email it to your donators, like this one ( i requested 50 usd for this address)

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/payment_request?address=191sNkKTG8pzUsNgZYKo7DH2odg39XDAGo&message=Donate%20here&amount=0.00096199

To create a payment request like this, just click this button in your address page in blockchain.com explorer:

When you click in Create payment you will receive a URL which you can share.
7704  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Ridiculous transaction fees. Electrum wallet. on: February 18, 2021, 04:13:26 PM
I sent around 27 USD using electrum wallet. Before completing a transaction I received the warning that the fees are almost 50% from total. I moved the fees button to minimum and the warning still appeared saying that the fees are around 24% So, I completed the transaction by using minimal fees.

Additionally to what others have said  ,you can customize fees below that minimum suggested fee.

It is possible to send for less than 0.5usd  even in the actual prices. But your transaction will take many days to get confirmed. Sometimes this is not a problem (if you are just transferring to another wallet you own , for example)

To customize fees in electrum you can follow this guide

Quote
The form on the send tab is used to send money. The amount you enter there is the amount the recipient gets. To control how much you spend in fees you click pay and then advanced to see this window:

As you can see fees depend on the size of your transaction in bytes and the fee rate in terms of satoshis per byte. There are 100,000,000 (100 million) satoshis in a bitcoin.

In the transaction shown in the screenshot above the recipient’s address is the first output while the others are change addresses belonging to the sender’s wallet. The recipient gets 0.02btc, the fee is 294 satoshis and the total cost to the sender is 0.02000294 btc.
https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-manually-set-transaction-fees/

Reducing inputs (as suggested by LoyceV) will reduce the total transaction size, and total fees.
7705  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [~500 GB work in progress] Bitcoin block data: inputs, outputs and transactions on: February 18, 2021, 12:59:49 PM
That's assuming you already have the >320 GB blockchain downloaded by your own running node. Not everyone runs a full node and data like the one provided by blockchair.com and mirrored by OP is not supposed to be used by nodes or for anything security sensitive. It is just data useful for data analysis.

I was taking a look at input files to try to make some analysis. But the files are huge, which is a problem for my current set up (HD size and bandwidth).

My first attempt is to group inputs by transaction ID, then group addresses which were spend together. Creating wallets... Just like walletexplorer.com does (but it would be amazing if I could do this myself).

For example, I know that these 2 addresses belongs to the same wallet:

But this is a much more complicated job than I expected, as files are very large.

This analysis would expose privacy weakness. This kind of analysis is very easy to do for few addresses (if someone is being investigated), and people are not aware of that.

Hi, My wallet-backup.json looks like below. I remember my password. How to get proper private key? Please help.
{"keys":[{"addr":"<BTC address>","priv":"<97 lenght encrypted private key>",
"encryptionMode":"PKBDF2-SHA256","iterations":2000}],"salt":"<salt value>"}

Is this an old blockchain.info wallet?

If it is, you can try to insert your json here:
https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/import-wallet

If it is not a blockchain.info wallet, do not put it there.

As it shows in blockchair blockexplorer, you can try to broadcast it again.
Wont do a lot when the fee is lower than what most nodes are asking for. Better to send the transaction with an actual fee for the current moment (1 sat/vByte is dead for now).

If his transaction has no RBF enabled, that is all he can do... And it will get confirmed sometime if he keeps broadcasting it.

Fees may get lower in a few days/weeks. Yesterday you could get a confirmation with 7 sat/byte. Take a look here

Sweet, the real question is can someone please bother to explain the Model3 Tesla token to me? I'm still trying to make sense of it all, I mean there's several tesla assets on the https://www.Coinmarketcap.com aggregated index. I understand the token is the actual price of the car, but how does it work exactly? Owners get 1 Model3 Token or something? I can't really get an accurate answer, Iv'e been watching youtube videos and reading articles to make sense of it all.
One thing I do know for sure,  Musk is going in balls deep with 1.5 billion invested. Tesla is about to become Weyland-Yutani corp  Grin

This makes no sense. It is just a joke from coinmarketcap. You can see here they have no marketdata for it.

Personally, I don't like those jokes because they may lead to misinformation.

This is a false token, which has the same value of the eletric car MODEL3 from tesla

A crypto data and analytics platform CoinMarketCap has added Tesla to a list of coins. Although at the top of the list, it’s not an actual coin that can be traded.

What Happened: The move is merely a recognition of the impact of the recent Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) announcement of $1.5 billion investment in Bitcoin, the company says.

i might add that none of the block exp are finding the tx except blockchair and txfee dot org. also tried the accelerators and they all give me errors. idk.

thx. need to quit drinking. pandemic has gotten a hold of me.

As it shows in blockchair blockexplorer, you can try to broadcast it again.

Do you have the transaction HEX? (if you don't, I made a simple tool to get it here. It may work in your case)

You can just insert the transaction hex here:
https://blockchair.com/broadcast

And it will broadcast it again. It will show again in most blockexplorers after this, and it may get confirmed in a few days/weeks. This happened once to me a few weeks ago and rebroadcasting it solved the issue. Like suggested by achow101 here. You can also try to open your wallet again to rebroadcast it:

If you are incapable of performing any of the other options are are too afraid to do so, you can simply wait and hope that the transaction will eventually confirm. To make sure that network is constantly being reminded of the transaction, you can rebroadcast the transaction periodically. Most wallets will rebroadcast automatically, so simply leaving your wallet open will allow rebroadcasting to happen.

An interesting observation, and that’s why I have to ask myself how many people will actually buy a car in a way that they will pay for it with Bitcoin? Ever since I've been on this forum, people have been speculating about whether to spend BTC or keep it until it reaches a certain value. Those two 10 000 BTC pizzas from 2010 today have become arguably the most expensive food in history Cheesy

I share the same thoughts. Personally I would like to have a couple more BTC, I am still accumulating. But it is getting harder and harder to accumulate.

Quote
especially for those who dream that 1 BTC will one day be worth $ x000 000 - which does not seem like an impossible mission at the moment.

Iagree that it doesn't look impossible now. The problem is that everyone is very brave in a bull run. This is dangerous, and when we should be extra cautious.

I dont like warren buffet a lot, but this is a nice quote:

Although I do think I will reduce my gains, I think it is wise to cash out some small profits (about 1% every 100%, or at least 1 to 10% every 1000% gains).

If you cash out 10% when you get 1000% gains, you will have remove all your initial investment. This might have a potential phycological effect, which will help you hold your BTC later on in a crash or in a 100000% scenario.

Those cash outs can be also some products like some gift cards over the years, small payments, a tesla car, and so on.

I have cashed out very little so far. I am trying to buy products instead of selling for fiat... I think I will buy some gold too.

Is it just me or am I the only one who felt relief when THANK GOD THEY ENDED UP WITH BTCPAYSERVER AND NOT THE MONSTROSITY THAT'S FREAKIN BITPAY. After Elon pump the crap out of DOGE, I have a bit more respect for him and his team now.

Certainly, Bitpay would ruin not only tesla reputation, but bitcoin's as well.

I tried to use bitpay once, I had so many problems and the prices were much higher (here in Brazil) that I just  withdrawal my btc from there and gave up using it.
7713  Economy / Economics / "Looks as if #Bitcoin is eating #Gold". Good idea to buy some Gold now? on: February 17, 2021, 06:17:09 PM
I saw this interesting tweet today.

source: https://twitter.com/Schuldensuehner/status/1361944837742874631

As we can see, GOLD price is dropping the last 6 months (-10%), while Bitcoin is doing really well (-317%).
Some of the gold market cap might be moving to BTC.

Would it be an interesting idea to take some profits from BTC recent gains and buy some gold? Gold is the oldest asset I know of, and it will certainly hold value over the next years to come.

I am still accumulating BTC, but to accumulate some Gold is always a good idea.

So here's the ether address: 0x7D48616179b2aaF1916869Fe6C765862fc4B0043

I looked this address at etherscan.io and it still has about 449 USD of SNX tokens (18,87 SNX):

https://etherscan.io/address/0x7D48616179b2aaF1916869Fe6C765862fc4B0043

So I went ahead and sent the rest of the ether to cover the gas charge for converting the snx to ether, however, instead of converting it, it just took most but not all of the ether from the wallet. Can someone please explain to me what happened? Besides the obvious, I want to know exactly how it went down, obviously I dont know much but I am trying to learn. Please save comments that are unhelpful to yourself. I know I got got, and since I paid I want to know exactly how. Thank you for any serious answers

I guess you have nothing to worry about?

blockdata.loyce.club/outputs/ (117 GB)
blockdata.loyce.club/transactions/ (43 GB)

Hello LoyceV.

I am curious this file.

Can you create a sample of each file, with just a few MB, so people can see the that and how it is organized before downloading 500GB?

What is the problem in to make your own blockchain parser?
This is easier Smiley

I never saw the blockchain in CSV format, which is a easy to use format for data analysis. Is there anywhere else where you can download the blockchain in csv format other than in loyce.club and blockchair?

Ixi, devem estar pagando e caro! rsrs

Nunca chegou a 15% anual.

I'm glad that a reputed member does this instead of seeing the feature on a website nobody knows about and may only collect e-mails for further spam.

Thanks.

I don't want to collect e-mails, create a mailing list, etc... I don't like this ancient internet practice of collecting email from users.

I will try to make Push Notifications, which I believe is a more modern and less invasive practice on user privacy in my opinion. I am busy recently, but I will make it soon.

https://www.canalrural.com.br/noticias/bitcoin-cresce-agro/

A notícia é bem curta. Me chamou a atenção apenas esse paragrafo:
Quote
“Vemos cada vez mais produtores, importadores e exportadores utilizando bitcoin procurando facilitar suas transações e diminuir seus custos operacionais. Alguns exportadores, principalmente da China preferem ser pagos em criptomoedas ao invés de ficaram esperando diversos dias para receber o pagamento”, diz Oliveira.
https://www.canalrural.com.br/noticias/bitcoin-cresce-agro/
