8321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is stopping people from running their own full node? on: May 13, 2020, 10:00:43 AM
Ask yourself,

Validation only occurs when the # of confirmations increases,
Confirmations only increase when a New Block is added,
Therefore non-mining node don't validate anything ,and are irrelevant to network security.

Non-Mining nodes could all turn off right now, and no one would care.

I will tell you a mind blowing truth:
Miners do not validate transactions.

Full nodes do. Anyone can validate transactions,  a mining rig is  not necessary for that.

https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node
What Is A Full Node?

A full node is a program that fully validates transactions and blocks. Almost all full nodes also help the network by accepting transactions and blocks from other full nodes, validating those transactions and blocks, and then relaying them to further full nodes.

Most full nodes also serve lightweight clients by allowing them to transmit their transactions to the network and by notifying them when a transaction affects their wallet. If not enough nodes perform this function, clients won’t be able to connect through the peer-to-peer network—they’ll have to use centralized services instead.

Authy is amazing. I made a post about it a few years ago. It is a much better software than GA. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3178131.0

GA is now becoming better, finally.. that's a very good update. But I will stick to Authy. You can even put an image and description for every account you have lol

8323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin masternode on: May 13, 2020, 03:41:12 AM
Ok so if this does not exist then who gets the funds that your charged when you transfer the funds from me to you say?

You are using the wrong names.

There are no masternodes in the bitcoin network.

You are talking about miners, and it looks like you are trying to use an equipment to mine.

As you understand so little about bitcoin, this equipment probably isn't going to help you. To make money through mining you need a very expensive and specific equipment, called mining rig.
8324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is stopping people from running their own full node? on: May 13, 2020, 02:51:42 AM
There is no point to run full node when network doesn't scale.

More nodes don't make transactions faster or cheaper, but the validation mechanism more decentralized.

If you don't care about decentralization you can just use Visa. Faster than any cryptocurrency. Bitcoin exists for other reasons.
8325  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Exchanges sem KYC on: May 12, 2020, 05:58:02 PM

8326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is stopping people from running their own full node? on: May 12, 2020, 12:10:09 PM
Recently setup a full node and it wasn't as challenging as I expected. I am wondering what is stopping more people from spinning up their own full nodes?

For me it seems not as many people care about the network, as they do about the price. I am wondering what you guys think, is this due to people not being aware of how important nodes are? Or due to the "technical" challenges they may face?

I can say for myself.
I have a personal notebook and I don't have a desktop computer.
My notebook only has SSD (no HD) and it has only 200Gb of disk space. I simply can't run a full node with my equipment. My disk storage is expensive and scarce .

I believe running a full node is very interesting and I certainly would like to run one for testing purposes.

Additionally, I would be helping bitcoin community by making it more robust and decentralized, but I can't right now.

I read something interesting in keys.casa

Why Run a Node?
The most important quality of Bitcoin is its decentralized nature; there’s no single entity capable of controlling or manipulating it. Because of this, there must be some way to maintain its integrity without trusting any single entity to do so. This is precisely what Bitcoin full nodes are tasked with. However, unlike mining, there aren’t direct financial incentives for running a Bitcoin full node—so why should you run one?

...

Once a node validates a transaction or block, it relays that data to other full nodes so that they can come to a consensus. This responsibility of validating the whole blockchain and enforcing the rules of Bitcoin is what makes a node “full.”

...

Monetary Incentive
Casa is the only company that provides an additional monetary incentive for running a healthy node. When Casa Node users connect their node to Sats App, they’re able to earn bitcoin! Users of Sats App with Node Heartbeats can get 10,000 SatsBack per week for getting 5 heartbeats sent. This serves as a direct incentive to maintain a high node uptime and strengthen the network.

https://blog.keys.casa/why-run-a-node/

This last part is very interesting, Casa gives a small incentive for users to run a node. I don't know if that still exists, but it is worth checking.

Certainly running a full node is one of the best ways to support the network.

Flip a coin 11 times, turn the resulting number in to a BIP39 word from the word list. Repeat 22 more times.

This guys shows in this video how to do it
Very interesting, and if you want to do it it worth checking it out.

https://www.grammarly.com/

8330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Billionaire Paul Tudor Jones says he has almost 2% of his assets in it on: May 11, 2020, 05:50:44 PM
The good thing about billionaires :-

They can actually afford to invest money in volatile market and even if they loose a lot they are still going to be financially stable.

You don't need to be a billionaire to invest 2% of your portfolio in cryptocurrency.
If you total portfolio is 1000 USD you can invest 20 USD in bitcoin and it will be 2%.

If bitcoin fails, you get 2% poorer. If not, well, you get 1000% richer

I believe everyone should invest at least 1% of your overall portfolio in bitcoin
8331  Economy / Reputation / Re: [ChipMixer] Assistant(s) to the Campaign Manager - Urgent meeting on: May 11, 2020, 04:04:07 PM
Chipmixer Campaign Representation on Local Boards (as of today):

German: 3-4

Arabic: at least 3

Indonesian: at least 3

French: 3-4

Russian: 2-3

Spanish: 1-2

Turkish: absolute 0

Shouldn't Turkish users ask money from their government?

Demanding a private company from another country to reach a minimum quota of users who feel "excluded" and disadvantaged in its list of payments for a service provided is completely delusional.
8332  Economy / Exchanges / Doubt about Livecoin on: May 11, 2020, 02:05:07 AM
Hello.
I will be forced to use Livecoin.net for a transaction. Can someone please tell me what is the situation there? Do I need to do KYC? Is there a minimum withdrawal without KYC?

I couldn't even find where to verify my account there.

A meme is worth a thousand words:

Anyway, according to coinmarket the volume is 600 EUR in the last 24hours.

This token is worthless. Someone just bought 600 EUR and price pumped, but there is no liquidity

8336  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Novo Telegram Bot de notificação do BitcoinTalk em desenvolvimento on: May 10, 2020, 08:45:04 PM

8337  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving Bitcoin happens, icebergs melt, the sea turns red. ??? on: May 10, 2020, 08:41:27 PM
Could this be alright after halving happened?

There are two big famous citations in investing world:
"Buy the rumor, sell the news"
"Buy the rumor, sell the fact"

Halving was already priced in before it happens (rumor). When it happened, i.e, the fact, whales just sold out.

This is very common in investments of any asset.

Please move this topic to Scam Accusations:
To move a topic, just click on the bottom left corner of the page:

The admin on Adzbux seems to be scamming high earners, i have proof since im one of the victims.

Here is my butcoin adress: 1MQcKJ9fQxMk3zdYRAYCaoBP6QuhLNzEQo

Is this and address form Adzbux, right? It looks like, as there are many transactions from the same wallet as this address.

This address is not yours, its from Adzbux wallet, and Adzbux admin is the only one with the private key.

Nobody can do anything about. Just make a scam accusation and hopefully he wont be scamming anyone again.
