It still feels like crypto and blockchain are lagging behind, honestly I expect this technology to have grown better, what and what do you think is holding this technology back?
Too much scams, ponzi schemes, and scammers in the ecosystem, like the Faketoshi. Definitely, those people are holding bitcoin back, as they are bad for bitcoin image. Those bunch of useless people just looking for a easy money and quick rich scheme are also bad, as this has nothing to do with blobkchain technology or even bitcoin itself. However, I think that bitcoin is not hold back, its adoption is growing. But maybe Bitcoin adoption will not be exactly what people expect.I believe bitcoin will be much more a reserve of value than used to by a coffee in starbucks. As a reserve of value, people will be able to move money without boarders and protect people from developing countries against inflation and irresponsible governments. |

Existe.. A Bitmain vende as ASICs novas quando quer¹, por quanto quer, como quer² .... As 2 sofrem do mesmo problema sobre o controle, só que PoW gasta mais energia  Acredito que essa barreira seja muito mais fácil de passar do que a do PoS ne. Pode simplesmente surgir um concorrente, nada impede isso. Enquanto quem tem as coins, nao vende e pronto ue. eu concordo 100% com um PoW que use CPU ou GPU, mesmo que só exista intel/amd como opção (e não 100 fabricantes de asic.. que apanham pra 1 gigante), por exemplo, pois eles (intel/amd) não mineram, só vendem.. Pois é, eu nao tenho conhecimento suficiente para saber pq nao temos miineração com CPU ou GPU no btc... mas deve ter algum motivo. Não duvido que seja um motivo bastante obvio quanto o de pq ninguem está fazendo PoS em larga escala ainda... Mas realmente não sei pq. e morando no Brasil, pagando impostos de importação e uma energia cara, fica inviável.. Com cpu/gpu já fica melhor, com PoS então, é global.. Mas isso vale pra PoS tb ue. Vai pagar ethereum em dolar, com dolar a 6 reais? Já sai perdendo de 6x comparado a qualquer pessoa de um país decente. Morar no Brasil é só prejuízo. A única vantagem é a mulherada. kkk |

Para não dizer que não tem algo mais palpável, fiquei sabendo estes dias da tal "mineração" de ELectroneum (ETN). Pelo que compreendi, não existe uma real utilização das capacidades do dispositivo para obter as recompensas. Não espere por fortunas, é claro. O engraçado é que já tinha ouvido falar dessa Electroneum antes. Um Uber que peguei ~2 anos atrás estava minerando ela e tinha o app no celular. Comecei a conversar com ele sobre BTC e criptomoedas e ele me passou o instagram dele, onde tinham fotos da "mining rig" dele. Foi uma experiência muito interessante já que nunca tinha encontrado nenhum outro ser que tinha se envolvido com BTC (além das famosas ponzis minerworld da vida). Na verdade não existe mineração de ETN no celular. Essa mineração de celular é apenas uma questão de marketing. Voce deixa o celular ligado, ele finge que está minerando e dá umas tokens pra você em troca. É exatamente um airdrop. a ideia é apenas para atrair o interesse das pessoas. Pq mineração no celular iria acabar com a vida util do aparelho e com a bateria. A ideia do ETN é interessante até... puro marketing. fonte: |

4. Valor intrinseco auto-regulado: o valor da rede Bitcoin tem sua segurança reforçada pelos fatores anteriores que por consequencia o torna mais valioso. É uma definição de valor intrínseco baseado na segurança - essa a principal utilidade. Não apenas a segurança da tecnologia (imutavel, irreversivel, segura criptograficamente) como também a segurança da política monetária segura baseada no código do consenso e da abertura de qualquer um começar a participar diretamente dessa segurança/rede. Você precisa comprar Stake para usar PoS. Você não precisa de nada "de dentro" do Bitcoin para começar a participar do PoW.
Então quando pensar sobre o que substituiria o PoW, vale tentar entender se a nova solução suporta todos esses itens acima.
Realmente o pessoal pensa simplesmente "Vamos substituir PoW por algo mais rapido que não gaste energia" e esquece todos esses atributos, principalmente segurança e um lastro do bitcoin no mundo real. A energia é um ativo que terá valor no mundo, independente do que aconteça. Consegue imaginar um mundo sem energia? Agora quadno falamos de PoS, todo é mecanismo é baseado em uma criptomoeda. Por exemplo, o PoS do ethereum toda a base do sistema será baseada,.... no próprio ethereum. É como um cachorro correndo atrás do próprio rabo. E o mundo sem ethereum nao muda nada. Tirar esse lastro do bitcoin com o mundo real (a energia) irá ter implicações das mais diversas e que serão difíceis de prever. Quero chamar a atenção é que quando a mineração no Bitcoin deixar de ser lucrativa, existe um grande risco dos mineradores deixarem a rede Bitcoin e isso implica na morte da rede Bitcoin, porque sem mineradores = sem transações = um bando de bytes sem funcionalidade nenhuma (trocadilho com papel que não vale nada  ) O fato é que isso só não acontecerá se as condições abaixo forem satisfeitas: a) Exista lucratividade na mineração até todos os blocos serem minerados (21 milhões de BTCs) b) Exista lucratividade se as taxas de transações no futuro continuarem a valer a pena mesmo após a mineração total. Me desculpe mas não é assim que funciona. Se muitos mineradores saírem pq não é mais lucrativo, a dificuldade da mineração cai, de forma que a rede se adapta a quantidade de mineradores e os blocos continuaram se confirmando a cada 10 minutos da mesma maneira. Lógico que se todos os mineradores parassem de um dia pra o outro a rede teria problemas, mas isso não vai acontecer por diversos motivos. Primeiro, pq é uma atividade lucrativa. Uma debandada de um dia para o outro dos mineradores iria trazer mais prejuízo para eles do que para qualquer outro (afinal, são eles que fizeram investimentos milionários). O mais natural é que, caso não seja mais lucrativo minerar, os mineradores comecem a sair aos poucos (pois tem lugares que sao mais lucrativos do que outros pra minerar), e assim a rede terá tempo de se auto ajustar. IMO é desperdício de energia sim e toda a segurança do BTC está concentrada em poucos lugares, justamente onde a energia é barata, sem falar na concentração de poder na mão da Bitmain que além de ser a maior produtora de ASICs (o que não é problema) também as usa para minerar.. seus BTC sofrem com a inflação, os BTC da Bitmain, sofrem menos. Tais melhorias de hardware são ótimas, porém eles mineram sozinhos com os melhores hardwares até quando quiserem e só depois botam a venda.. E isso cai no ponto 2 citado pelo @dive.. Acho muito mais atrativo o PoW que tenta barrar as ASICs, como Grin/ETH..
Mas a centralizaçao com PoS seria no mínimo a mesma coisa. No caso do Ethereum, que está somente temporariamente em PoW e irá mudar definitivamente e integralmente para PoS (segundo o whitepaper e tudo mais), a centralização será absurda. Só o Vitalik possui uma fortuna imensa em Ethereum, os fundadores e a equipe dele por trás tb. A diferença é que para ser minerador de PoW basta voce chegar lá, comprar equipamentos e energia e minerar. Agora pra "minerar" PoS alguem precisa te vender os Eth. Se ninguem te vender, voce não entra no esquema. Então seria fácil algum grupo ter por exemplo 50-60% do controle do PoS e simplesmente não deixar ninguem ameaçar esse controle. É muito mais controlável, entende? Não existe uma barreira de entrada no PoW, mas existe no PoS. |

See, you already contradicted yourself. Of course it matters. It would be roughly the same as a credit card company charging hidden fees. doing a CPFP, you're trading chipmixer's time for your money..
Don't you think that it is a bad time to mix coins now? Network is very congested, and mixing process involves a lot of transactions. unless you are willing to pay for those fees, you are going to have to wait. I made a transactions with 1 sat/byte about a week ago, and it took near 3 days for the first confirmation. Maybe chipmixer could put a warning in their website with the option to mix for free with 3 sat/byte or just pay CPFP if you are in hurry (i know it will be very expensive, but it is the customer who is in a hurry). But I think at least a warning in the website would be nice. |

Those stories are interesting but they are very uncommon and it is very unlikely anyone here will experience something similar. The boy probably forgot about the bitcoins for years and when he discovered it he was a millionaire. Because people do take profits before reaching 3.4million mark. Most of people would sell almost everything on 100k profit, or 300k profit, and so on... |

I think this vulnerability doesn't allow the attacker to spend crypto from a cryptio wallet. Does it? MObile crypto wallets usually need a password to get unlocked and to insert the password again to spend it. Personally, I love to have a few bucks of cryptocurrency in my mobile. The same amount as I would keep in my physical cash wallet (which is very risky also, because you can just let a few coins drop on the floor for example, but that's worth the risk). Keeping btc in your smartphone is good for adoption And if you are very paranoid, just turn off bluetooth when not using it (i do that to save battery) |

It is a well-known fact (at least for me) that Bitcoin (its value) is almost insignificant in relation to how you say "all the world's money". All mined Bitcoin at present worth about $180 billion, and only gold value is measured in trillions ($8 trillion more or less), while the whole fiat is worth about $90 trillion.
Like it or not, Bitcoin is almost at the bottom of it all - but it should be noted that it was created only 11 years ago, and that it is actually at its beginning. Only $1 trillion relocated to BTC would increase its price to $50 000, and if we take hundreds of trillions in all world markets, that would be an almost imperceptible figure.

You are making 2 mistakes just here: 1 - Satoshi, or whoever created it, is a common individual which would react like other people to questions like this. 2 - He certainly took much more credit (i.e. bitcoins) than we know. He is certainly rich now. Probably a stealh millionaire walking in the streets with thousands of bitcoins in cold storage. |

Isnt a problem if China has 68% of the hashrate? China doesn't have 68% of hashrate, but 68% of hashrate comes from chinese pools. That's different. and yes, it is certainly a problem.. this could be more decentralized, but that's not that bad. Couldnt China do a 51% percent attack?
No. Chinese government does not control the pools. Pools are not that coordinated and if there war a slightly chance that this could happen, miners would just move to another pools. But if we keep on the internet era, wich only starts 25 or 30 years ago, is evident that in 30-40 years, sending value will be much easier, and it will be accepted to keep your value on crypto. Probably governements will use that at somepoint...so bitcoin is not the iminent future, but crypto it is. and thats why btc can become virtual gold on the next years. Just when people trust enought and as i sayd, price gets a support zone on 10500.

Nobody knows shit about what is going to happen. Bitcoin is an amazing and revolutionary idea. however, we don't know how will the world and the internet evolve. Don't you remember dotcom bubble? America Online, Netscape Navigator, Altavista, so many great projects just **poof** gone. Assim, pessoa que recebeu o BTC pode confrontar o horário da transação com o horário em que a cotação foi congelada - mostrando que o horário em que a cotação foi gerada é próximo ao do envio.
por fim, a ferramente é free, não precisa pagar para usar.
Ah, entendi agora. Interessante. Você considera o horário da primeira confirmação, ou do envio? Pq a primeira confirmação pode demorar mais de um dia, e antes da primeira confirmação a transação é reversível. De repente seria interessante colocar os dois horários. |

Daí no dia seguinte o preço do produto é 0.003 btc, eu simplesmente executo a compra e ignoro a cotação congelada. Pode isso? Ou tem que pagar pra congelar a cotação? |
