81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 22, 2019, 03:03:03 AM

I really wish xmr.to would add a few other coins, that's one of the best privacy tools I know of.

I was making a joke of what would be added to recompiled binaries. Wink

Yes i know, if it looks too good to be true it probably is, but a Monero based privacy tool for other alts like ETH would be awesome,  and maybe one day xmr.to adds a few other coins, like ETH.

Edit, I use xmr.to all the time, anytime I send btc, but for ETH it's hard to remove your history

All alt coins are in survival mode, price is pretty much irrelevant for bag holders, if BSD survives it can come back, i have no doubt about that.

BTC dominance is like the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, the big guys will get vaporised,  some of the smaller creatures can survive. BSD has the best distribution in the cryptosphere, and a large community still, we Just need to survive long enough for BTC dominance to peak.
It is true to say altcoins have all been in their worst period over last two years, since their all time highs in 2017. Investors are human, and they have their own thresholds of pain and sufferings, so they will give up if their faith losts. If that happens with loyal investors, it will be terrible because Bitsend might lose big momentum for future recoveries. Therefore, the coming months are very important to keep loyal investors stay with Bitsend project. I still believe in Bitsend team and the project.
Last two days, I think we again saw some good signals from bitcoin, that has fallen back to below $10000 after failing to break $11000 price point.

Yes, until new money comes into crypto all alts keep bleeding as bitcoin rises, it's just Math!

We need new money coming in for btc & alts both going up at the same time, that's probably 2020

That must have cost a bit, WAVES probably has the biggest war chest in crypto still, might as well spend it.

So much to like with decred,  holding cmc ranking all through the alt coin purge bodes well for the future!

Is there any news on the long overdue silver coin for initial nem stakeholders?

It's been 5 years ...

The priority should be getting Catapult out and people developing and using it.  I don't think it's overdue but it has been a wait.  The silver fund is still there, and Yes, it would be great if after it is released that plans for the fund get disseminated to the stakeholders could be realized.

I agree Catapult is the priority, but the silver fund needs to sorted out soon. My opinion is tracking down 100% of original NEM stakeholders from 2014 will be impossible, and all unclaimed silver stakes should be used to add a gradual decline in the supernode reward program, rather than the abrupt end we currently have.

Supernode payments really should be phased out slowly, otherwise one day rewards drop to zero, and nobody knows how many supernode get switched off. Going cold turkey will be painful!

Maybe someone should contact Long Wong and UtopianFuture and see what that gets them.

 Cheesy

The silver coin fund was part of the social contract the founders made with the early adopters who built NEM,  and I'm sure the current leadership understands that.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: August 20, 2019, 12:35:27 PM
Yes, and it is legal for a company to manipulate the price of its software. If there was misrepresentation there may be a case for consumer fraud, but it is not within the SEC's purview.

Yes, and SEC will lose the case and VERI will pump real hard way beyond the moon and you will be filthy rich and buy 10 lambos and 10 ferraris.
Continue with your fantasy.

If Reggie wins veritaseum will be known and spoken of throughout the  crypto world as a landmark test case, so yes, it would moon!

I'm not buying more just yet, but I'm not selling either (no point)

This 2018 post will be entertaining when it happens.

Capital C for capitalism. BitCoin.

Is the plan that this all starts happening in January 2020?
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Verus (VRSC) - zk-SNARK privacy, CPU-mining, 50/50 POW/POS, fair launch on: August 17, 2019, 10:30:16 AM
Can veruscoin tech be used to make an algorithmic stable coin like Maker dai?
Once PBaaS is on mainnet, a PBaaS coin can become a stable coin with respect to VRSC by supplying a large enough liquid reserve to limit slippage between the coin and VRSC. Any PBaaS chain using the liquid reserve option will be able to exchange its coin to Verus and back, much like the BANCOR protocol. The difference is that Verus’ implementation is governed by the blockchain consensus.

In that sense: yes, it will.

I suspect however that you would like to peg a coin to a different currency than VRSC. I imagine this could be done by continuously adapting the size of the liquid reserve, to artificially match the pegged value you’re after.

Thanks, that sounds pretty awesome!!

@boomboom. I have seen him during my first days here in the community, however, none of what he creates are being used. Look at all the work he did in NXT, they are irrelevant.

The NXT devs made decisions that were not backwards compatible and broke all jl777's apps back in 2016, that made him realise he had to create his own platform to work on, which he did with komodo. You're correct that a lot of his tech isn't being used, but that's changing now, and AtomicDEX is the killer app for privacy conscious people who want to use crypto without burdens of KYC and security risks from centralised exchanges.

I agree with you but I think that the main reason is that such exchanges don't offer a possibility to buy crypto using FIAT, credit cards and so on. I thought it will change when multiple stablecoins popped up lately but this is not the case. To be honest I don't know any decentralized exchange which offers trading pairs with stablecoins.

AtomicDEX is compatible with all erc20 coins, already has USDC now and will probably get other major stable coins too, just need market makers.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: August 14, 2019, 12:55:48 AM

Hoping for the best on this project???
The current situation with SEC is telling something for this platform.
I wonder if they can ever get back on their feet. Holders embrace your fate.
What can you say about their price chart?

Of course there is a market reaction. That provides the opportunity.
Worst case they refund ICO purchases, pay a fine, and block US users from their service which is going to be or was being operated overseas. The project will live on.

There's no such thing as bad publicity,  if Reggie wins the case (which is possible) veritaseum is known more widely.

In the ranks of crypto sçammers Reggie is relatively clean, he's not exactly low hanging fruit compared to Larimers or WAVES etc

I think Reggie can beat this, he has a reasonable argument why veritaseum isn't a security, and if trading your own bags is a crime every crypto founder is going to join reggie on the sec hit list eventually.

I lost all faith in bittrex in 2017 when they introduced KYC rules without warning, and no grace period to withdraw. They basically stole millions of $ from account holders all around the world. Poloniex at least gave warning.

Best exchange option for bsd is AtomicDEX, no need to pay fees, just add the coin ourselves to a fully legal decentralised exchange with no kyc and no risk of getting hacked.
Decentralized exchanges are good choices, because they usually ask low listing fees or give free listings; and no KYC-requirement is another plus point. However, the main disadvantage of decentralized exchange are their low volume; most of them have very low daily volume, compare to centralized exchanges. I don't understand why you claim decentralized exchanges , or AtomicDEX in particular, has no risks of hack. Would you mind explaining more about that, please.

AtomicDEX uses atomic swaps, so users control their private keys at all times, a trade either goes through to completion or gets reversed, so you control your coins and never have a counterparty. Afaik the atomic swap tech is based on timelocks and multisig.

As for liquidity AtomicDEX allows for adding api from centralised exchanges, so market makers can pull liquidity from binance etc,  and take a cut on the spread. If you want 100% security you can pay the market makers small commission for basically using his/her centralised exchange access, but without any kyc or security risk for yourself from 'not your keys not your coins' deposits.
