81  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies take bitcoin as long term Choice to get the best out of bitcoin on: April 25, 2024, 11:12:35 PM
Yeah, no kidding.  The new people in crypto seem to think it is some fast cash grab fueled by those FOMO moments when prices spike up quick.  Then suddenly the bear market hits and all those dreams crash hard, and  dollar cost averaging can definitely help, but trying to perfectly time when prices peak is pretty hopeless.  Bottom line is crypto should not be anyone's only income stream, point blank.  You really gotta learn the landscape before you start betting money you need for real bills.  Professional traders are a different story, but those guys built their knowledge and experience the right way, not with YOLO bets.
82  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ☢️ Any mining farms powered by nuclear microreactors? ☢️ on: April 23, 2024, 06:35:36 PM
Who knows, maybe some tech billionaire out there is really building  a hidden underground facility powered by nuclear microreactor for a massive cryptocurrency mining operation.

Microreactors are below 20MW, which would mean at most 5000 Asics, given the actual hashrate there would be at least 6 million S19 running, so massive is not the word.

Wow, I did not know that about microreactors!  YOu are right, 5,000 ASICs wouldnt qualify as "massive" these days.  Still, the image of a hidden tech lair powered by a mini nuclear reactor is pretty darn cool.  I wonder if these mini reactors will ever be like, shrunk down and idiot-proof enough for everyday folks to buy one and power their, you know, dream mansion/bitcoin mine (or maybe a post-apocalyptic shelter)? Smiley
83  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they on: April 22, 2024, 09:44:34 PM
Lots of people think playing the slots or table games at an online casino will be an easy way to make some quick cash.  I certainly thought so at first!  I think thats mistake #1: Thinking its easy money. The truth is that the games are designed to be entertaining and all, but the odds are always stacked against us players rather than in our favor.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the number of new investors reduce? on: April 22, 2024, 09:32:16 PM
Why do people invest in Bitcoin? Hard to say for sure.  Some folks probably get excited about stuff like the halving or follow the hype and think it will make prices go up.  They wanna make a quick buck.  Others are in it for the long run, believing in the technology or whatever... And, the halving seems to usually get more investors interested based on what has happened in the past.  Prices often go up quite a bit the year after.  But you never know what will happen in the future.  Markets are unpredictable.

We dont have access to anyone's personal reasons for investing, you know? Newbies chase those short-term profits and will bail if things go south after the halving.  Thats markets.  But Bitcoin has shown impressive growth overall if you zoom out.  Still, past dont equal future.  Who really knows why each person buys in? People's motivations differ.  We can speculate but thats about it.

Bunch of winners in here.  Lol  You guys alright?  I'm here to stay.  Bitcoin is mine and always has been.

Yep! This confirms it. You are still an idiot, and you will always be an idiot!
86  Other / Meta / Re: Introducing scammers to the forum. on: April 21, 2024, 08:31:43 PM
~
Avoid referring the forum to friends and even family who we know have tendencies to become scammers, have affiliations with any known scammer, etc.

I get that you dont pick your family or relatives, but if your friends show signs of becoming scammers, thats your responsibility, buddy!  You gotta surround yourself with better  people!

Besides, I dont agree that we should avoid recommending Bitcointalk altogether.  There is good info here and  scammers will try to scam regardless.
87  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FOR SALE] HODL Poster on: April 21, 2024, 08:10:21 PM
Wow, what a great print!  The backstory behind that HODL typo is really interesting.  It kinda makes the whole Bitcoin thing even more charming in a way.  Im not looking to put more stuff up on my walls right this second, but Im definitely gonna take a look at your gallery and remember your Etsy shop for later.  Good luck with your sale!
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Doesn't higher bitcoin prices more than compensate for reduced block reward? on: April 21, 2024, 07:57:49 PM
More miners entering the space is good for users because when you have too few miners handling very high number of transactions this will cause crazy high transaction fees
and make the network unusable for most people. But when you have more miners to soak up the demand then prices will stabilize and make it affordable to use again.

No. That is not how Bitcoin mining works.  Having more miners does not directly make transaction fees go up or down.  Bitcoin has this difficulty adjustment that keeps new blocks coming at the same pace no matter how many people are mining.

So even if there is way more miners, Bitcoin just gets harder to mine.  The number of miners doesnt do much to fees.  Fees have more to do with how congested the network is and how bad people want their transactions to go through quick.  More miners might make Bitcoin network a little more secure perhaps, but they do not drive fees.  Its about demand and congestion, not miner counts.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not even a penny on: April 21, 2024, 07:32:11 PM
Every client generates a batch of addresses once you create a new wallet, I don't remember exactly the limits but numbers varied from 100 upwards
Have you actually used that wallet for multiple transactions while you were actively using it?
That would explain the generation of new addresses.

I dont remember but also I havent seen any transactions on adresses or btc core (still sync)

It sounds like it is not actually your wallet.dat file but something you found or bought online, right?  If it is the latter, you have been scammed.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this madness or what? on: April 21, 2024, 07:25:42 PM
I don't understand why people do this with dust transactions but dare to pay quite expensive fees, previously I have never interacted with any ordinals but many people can buy shitcoin there.

Is he a rich man? Or is it true that stompix is just bragging because it was minted in block 840,000. Cheesy

It is not stompix who made that transaction, he just explained the nature of dust transactions on ordinals.  These are tiny amounts of bitcoin sent with an inscription on the Ordinals protocol.  The fees can be high because they are competing for block space just like any other inscription.

As for Ordinals, you can think of them as rare collectibles of the digital era. Some people invest in them for two reasons: either they believe they will achieve much higher prices in the future, or, in some cases, simply because they can afford it (a.k.a. bragging rights).
91  Other / Meta / Re: Anyone? is there any solution of this ? on: April 20, 2024, 09:14:14 PM
This is a known issue with table formatting (particularly in the first column) on this forum.  Im not sure if the bug is specific to bitcointalk.org or a legacy issue inherited from the older version of SMF software used here.

The simplest workaround, as already explained above by Xal0lex, is to use empty  [td ] tags on each row.
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone is celebrating about the fourth halving but what is this? on: April 20, 2024, 08:49:01 PM
But how funny that tx with 100 sat/vb made it to block 840 000 while guys are paying even now 400sat/vb for block 840065, you won't be making history there!

Well, looks like the "golden block" was mined by ViaBTC.  Wouldn't surprise me if some folks used their free transaction accelerator service to get to the front of the line and  guess thats why a cheap 100 sat/byte tx got in quick while others with higher fees still waiting.  Makes sense ViaBTC give special treatment to transactions from their own transaction accelerator.  If only the other pools offered something similar for low byte transactions.
93  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No gambling today due to bitcoin high transaction fee. on: April 20, 2024, 08:16:58 PM
Transaction fees have been expensive for days, and yesterday they went crazy. But it's nothing new, I usually have some alt on the side that I use at times like this. And luckily there are some wallets & casinos that offer different chains, so we can use that option as well.

That was to be expected. The fees have skyrocketed due to the recently launched Runes protocol, which went live at the halving's block 840,000. Although I didn't believe the fees would go that high. Let's hope that the situation will calm down in a day or two.

I guess these high BTC fees can and are problematic for people who gamble only with BTC. But those who are in crypto for some longer time always have some USDT on a side and can use that for gambling at any time with very low fees on some chains.

I dont typically hold any stablecoins as they dont serve a purpose for me.  Thankfully, there are other altcoins with low transaction fees. As long as these altcoins are widely accepted for my purchases, Im good.

Do you know the human mind doesn't fully develop until the age of 25 for most males?

For most males? Perhaps. But for some, unfortunately, it never develops. Like in your case, for example.

What do you think that actually says about me if I am who I say I am?

You are an idiot! You were an idiot when you were 21, and you will stay an idiot. I feel sorry for your loved ones, because they have to take care of an idiot.
95  Economy / Lending / Re: [WANT] 6000 USDC Secured Loan on: April 20, 2024, 07:03:04 PM
I went with this coin from $0.04 to $0.11, then to $0.002, to $0.01, and now to $0.005. I bought more with each dip. >90% crash. Still hodling.
Sell 5000€ which are going to be 10 000€ in a month? Or a 100 000€ in a year? No, thanks.

I believe in this project.

You dont have much choice here since your collateral is high risk. You can either take out a loan from your bank or a local loan shark, or sell part of your RSR tokens at the current market price and buy them back in a month or two. Even if the price goes up, you will still be able to buy back at least a portion of the sold tokens.  And, if you really believe in the project, and think that it could moon in the future, you wont lose much because you are still holding a substantial amount.

I do not think you will get attractive offers here because of your collateral.
96  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ROLLBIT scammed 130.000$ and made me an addict without taking action on it! on: April 19, 2024, 08:18:50 PM
I understand the frustration here, but ultimately we all have to take responsibility for our own actions.  Rollbit provides platforms for high-risk gambling, yes, but no one forced your deposits or big bets.  After multiple losses continuing to risk life savings seems unwise and  rather than accuse and assign blame, it may be best to reflect on what lessons can be learned so similar mistakes arent repeated.  There are always healthier paths forward.

Let me ask you just one thing: If it had been any other casino besides Rollbit, would you have realistically expected a different outcome in your case? Did you ever expect to come to an online casino with money and guaranteed leave with a profit?

We take responsibility in our actions correct- but ever heard about bad situation? And when things get worse people become addicted to things.. the one time use of cocaineat the party that becomes the worst nightmare in form of an addiction. You know this is considered as illness worldwide and I think this is why licensed casino have rules e.g. listening to someone who’s obviously not in control of what he’s doing in that moment. Otherwise as you mentioned he wouldn’t do such retarded things.

I understand that addiction is a serious problem, and it sounds like you may have fallen into that trap with Rollbit.  But the thing is, licensed casinos do have rules, but they are designed to keep you gambling, not protect you.

We cant blame everyone else. Ultimately, our choices are on us.  Addictions rarely show up overnight; it is more like a slippery slope.  And bringing up hardcore drug addiction aint exactly comparable.  You dont turn into a coke fiend after one wild rager any more than you transform into a degenerate gambler after one bad beat.  Difference is, getting hooked on drugs also means your body starts depending on that stuff to even function.  So try quitting cold turkey and you will feel that in some ugly withdrawal.  That physical dependence makes kicking a drug habit way tougher than ditching something behavioral like gambling.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shiba Inu token, is there a future for this? on: April 19, 2024, 07:44:19 PM
Shib? Seriously?  This is a dog meme token bro, not Tesla stock.  Its all hype and zero substance.  Think of it like putting your money on a random internet meme to go viral again.

Looking for long-term holds? Ditch the meme basket and  focus on projects with actual utility.  Do your research and dont chase moonshots.  Everything is a gamble, but you can still choose your odds yourself.
98  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: joya.casino biggest scam they scam me with 1145$ on: April 19, 2024, 06:46:56 PM
First I wanted to say that I have never even heard of this casino before and then I found out that they already created an ANN thread here about a month ago. According to the whois record, their domain was registered more than a year ago, but according to web.archive.org, it seems that the casino became operational only at the end of last year (before that, the site redirected to some other domains). So it seems that this is a relatively new casino with a not yet established reputation.

I will try to find more info on them in the meantime until their rep comes out on this issue.
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you stopped using bitcoin for small transactions completely ? on: April 18, 2024, 09:43:20 PM
Well, for some folks, Bitcoin resembles an investment like gold - a way to stash value long-term, even if its not great for everyday purchases.  The possibility of appreciation matters more than trivial transaction costs.  Consider it a high-security bank vault for savings, where access takes some effort.

But thats drifting from Bitcoin's original purpose as fast cheap peer-to-peer payments and  the stunted capacity is unfortunate.  Complex addons like Lightning feel inadequate; the base layer itself needs an upgrade.  The core devs ought to confront the scaling limitation more directly, imho.
100  Other / Meta / Re: Why is merit not common on trading discussion board on: April 18, 2024, 09:23:43 PM
~
I am not talking about spamming, I am talking about posts that are worth to be given merit.

This is probably part of the issue. As far as I have noticed, there is a significantly higher amount of spam in the trading and gambling boards compared to sections like Technical Discussion. This likely discourages merit sources and other members with merit to share from following these boards, and therefore the circulation of merit is less.
