81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If DASH is so confident why are they trying so hard to beat Monero? on: December 12, 2015, 04:23:48 PM
Wasn't DASH (or Darkcoin) premined to absolute shit right under everyones noses?
last I read was that they had a massive premine.. Who would even use this shit?

People need to stop supporting shitcoins and need to start supporting coins with actual innovation.
DASH was premined to shit.. and that in my eyes makes it worth basically nothing.. A 1% premine.. Cool.

But last I checked that shit was over 10% premined and it was done secretly.
Monero has a terrible client. And I've never used dash.. So I can't say which is the victor... was monero premined?

Dash was instamined, which is different then premined
Monero was also instamined or fastmined with their crippled miner
Bitcoin was also instamined with Satoshi's 1 million mined BTC
The whole world could potentially see the crypto-scene as instamined because there is such a relatively small amount of people involved with it currently.

you forgot to mention that eduffield reduced the blockreward right after the instamine....
...and that moneros so-called-crippled-miner-fastmine was one guy who mined a little bit more for a short time. which is laughable when compared to dash (former darkcoin (former xcoin))

Those involved financially with Dash moved past the instamine a long time ago and are here for the long ride (Dash is typically such a cryptocurrency that it will take time as there is a very strong focus on
research and development)

obviously they have hoped they can move on... how to attract new people which such a big instamine scam?
simple...ignore it and hope anybody else ignores it too ;-)
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the Return of Satoshi (aka Craig Wright) really means? on: December 12, 2015, 03:10:59 PM
Have i missed something is it confirmed craig is satoshi or are we just speculating. How a person that might be satoshi can change bitcoin with his ideas and believes ?
You haven't missed anything.  Basically, everyone is still speculating on the competitive theory/fact sets in which....

Craig = Satoshi
&
Craig does Not = Satoshi

That will most likely continue as their is strong and convincing evidence in both directions, and until another Satoshi is proven, or Craig/Satoshi reveals his key etc.

IMHO you are the only one who is still speculating.
SGI proofed that craig has lied (SGI said he never bought a supercomputer from them while he stated he has built it together with them)

and the obscure PGP key which is obviously backdated by him.

so case is already closed....
83  Other / Off-topic / Re: If You Won A Million Dollars.. How Much Bitcoin Would You Buy? on: December 12, 2015, 02:59:21 PM
Lets say you won the lottery..

You've just received a million dollars and are ready to do something with your new found money.

You have no CC debt to pay off and have an average mortgage for a working class citizen - maybe you have around $150,000 left to pay off for your house.

You're free to spend as you wish. And invest if you wish.

Would you buy a heap load of bitcoin to sit on?

If so.. how much?
why would i buy btc after winning 1million dollars..?
you have 1 million dollars you dont nid btc anymore just invest your money for the future of your family.

hence btc ;-)
84  Other / Off-topic / Re: If You Won A Million Dollars.. How Much Bitcoin Would You Buy? on: December 12, 2015, 02:51:27 PM
i'd buy a small house and the rest would go into bitcoin ;-)
so maybe around 750.000$ in btc

edit: ofc some moneros too ;-)
85  Other / Meta / Re: What can banned accounts do? on: December 12, 2015, 12:24:15 PM
This is a plan B, in case I forget to do plan A which is to be careful when publishing the source.

i solve this usually by keeping the configuration (or at least a subsection of it) outside of git.
eg in /etc or /home/user/.etc
86  Other / Meta / Re: What can banned accounts do? on: December 12, 2015, 11:52:13 AM
IMHO if one of your accounts is banned your's is banned also.. AFAIK its not accounts which gets banned its the person behind it.
wouldnt it be easier to just change the password to something random and forget that string?
87  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea Lands A Man On Saturn on: December 12, 2015, 11:29:14 AM
Isolation from warfare has some interesing side effects. They're very hospitable and gentle people. For example, if you will knock into a random door and ask for a glass of water, no one will refuse. But you need to learn korean first, of course.

The Western nations has imposed all these sanctions and embargoes on the Korean people in order to punish Kim Jong Un. However, these sanctions are not hurting Kim in any way. Only the common people are suffering. And this makes the ordinary Korean angry, when faced with the pro-Western propaganda. Why should you believe anything from the Westerners, when they are making your life miserable?

the problem is: which propaganda is true?
koreans or westerners? i am from germany and i dont believe both

EDIT: this reminds me of german history: WW2 americans dropped food and sweets while NAZIs claimed they dont and tried to shoot the planes.... you simply cant believe a country when it comes to propaganda
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If DASH is so confident why are they trying so hard to beat Monero? on: December 11, 2015, 10:48:45 PM
I really don't get it. Every time I log on here I see this perpetual war between Dash and Monero. Why?

Just do your own thing and let the best coin win. There's no need for this endless war. It's getting seriously fatiguing.

Besides, the price of both coins tends to go up and down together anyway.

true,

i (sometimes) write against DASH when i see something from them which is scammy (eg "banning users in evolution" - their next version).

i hate scams and wont keep my mouth shut when i see one. but i have mostly given up...i was active writing against dash before i saw monero (on flower1024 (sold) and onemorebtc accounts)

but i understand why they write against monero: they fear it
89  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Explain Buy/Sell Volume on: December 11, 2015, 10:35:53 PM
Hi,

The exchange i use Kraken.com has a 24 Hour Volume of 11,332.84 and about 9 hours ago this volume was only 6,155.49.

What does this actually mean? Is this the amount of Bitcoin that was traded in 24 hours? I assume that it is positive that the 24 hour volume is getting bigger instead of getting smaller? Like today's scenario.

buyvolume means how many people have made a market buy - this means they have taken orders out of the orderbook.
volume is buy- and sellvolume added together.

more volume means more coins traded which is a good sign as it means more interest (except when its a 0% fee exchange like some of the chinese where people can simply trade with themselves).

exchange volume:
more volume in on exchange is good as it will attract more traders to an exchange which raises their volume even more but allows for bigger trades without moving the market there that much.

volume bitcoin wide:
means more interest in bitcoin (from old- and newtimers).
if the bitcoin price moves up but there is not much volume it has the risk that this price change is not sustainable and wont last long

90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unveiling the truth over the major Monero scam on: December 11, 2015, 08:47:33 PM
That tweet is >1 year old. His opinion has changed since. Very reasonable thing for an intelligent person to do.

Maybe we should give his 2015 tweets a little more weight than his 2014 tweets.

Hmm..looks like someone got to Peter! What a totally believable reversal of opinion! BTW I know you guys are not above hacking the accounts of trusted characters in the crypto-space. Remember the pro-Scamero Antonopoulos quote that he later denied, sayng that his account had been compromised? Checkmate.

Peter Todd is still very active in crypto.
if his twitter would have been hacked he would have told use.

no arguments left?
91  Economy / Lending / Re: Is it possible to get a 0.25 unsecure loan? on: December 11, 2015, 07:55:25 PM
I am from Florida. Sarasota. The phone is unlocked.

Send me your address unless you plan on utilizing this loan.

he already got the coins...
i dont really understand though...

he said he need the loan to buy a phone and you offered one for free (basically)... seems very strange to me (before that i had believed his story - no i dont)
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Wired discovered the real Satoshi Nakamoto? (.. this time) on: December 11, 2015, 01:41:27 PM
even his supercomputer it seems that is fake.

http://www.zdnet.com/article/sgi-denies-links-with-alleged-bitcoin-founder-craig-wright/#oo

i think and his education is completely fake. This guy is 100% fake person. A real genius scammer.

sgi suggests it may have been bought on the grey market: lol
but craig said he has built it together with sgi.... proofed lie :-D
93  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: December 10, 2015, 09:47:04 AM
This is not a private forum if it is open to the public for anyone to sign up. Therefore, it does not belong to one single person. If it did, only one person would log in, which would not make it a forum.

lol...
that means if i someone invite me to visit me at my house they own that house too?
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SDC] ShadowCash Uncensored: Zeuner, Zero Knowledge, Zero Trust. What Happened? on: December 10, 2015, 01:15:41 AM
It seems that most people around here agree that smooth is behaving unprofessionally and unethically with his constant biased criticisms of competitor coins.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1151565.0

Its all too obvious what he is doing here.

i dont ;-)
IMHO people who fell for scams, or running scam coins, or like deceiving marketing tactics thinks like that.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: December 10, 2015, 12:59:14 AM

Well, being a fan of the non-symmetrical version, I could still get behind this particular symmetry.  It seems to preserve the shape of the "e" without degenerating into a squiggle.  Good job, MoneroMoo.

critical, other aeon fans, what are your thoughts?

personally i prefer the second one. it looks more smooth (pun intended).
joke aside: the first one seems to hard to me - dont know how to explain it better in english..sorry
96  Other / Archival / Re: Where's the money, Lebowski? on: December 09, 2015, 03:33:33 PM
Though I won't deny that the money probably could have been spent more efficiently.

that remains to be seen when the forum software is completed ;-)
i expect something great....if not well...then you are right.

regards and thanks for bitcointalk!
97  Other / Off-topic / Re: Waoo ... WHATSAPP ON WEB on: December 09, 2015, 03:16:33 PM
just use Telegram and use ANY device you want (Linux/OSX/Win/iPhone/Android)
Why should I pay for a messenger?Huh
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 09, 2015, 03:10:15 PM
Perhaps only peripherally important for Monero but this news story is doing the rounds today. Example:

http://news.sky.com/story/1602546/police-raid-after-bitcoin-creator-revealed

Quote
Police have raided the Sydney home of a man named as the likely creator of cryptocurrency bitcoin, according to the Reuters news agency

Quote
However the police force said in a statement that the move was not linked to "media reporting ... about bitcoins".

Instead it directed all inquiries to the Australian Tax Office, suggesting the raid could be linked to tax issues.

Hello, Satoshi?

i dont think so... but https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1281318.0;topicseen
more interesting how will bitcoin price react as the media and australia tax bureau seems to believe it ;-)
99  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Segregated witness - The solution to scaling on: December 09, 2015, 10:24:48 AM
Lauda, explain Segregated Witness to me like I'm five.
And to me as if I'm just born

At the moment everything goes in the block.

With segwit, only the important stuff goes in the block. The other stuff goes into an 'attachment'.

This way more transactions can be put into a full block without increasing the blocksize limit.

i am not sure atm.
am i correct that miners dont need the "attachment" and can mine blocks with transactions with the "smaller" chain with proofs and a UTXO?
that would reduce bandwith for them (well a little...they still need to receive tx) as they only have to broadcast smaller blocks without the full tx data. - which would surely help

same goes for nodes: lower storage requirements (at home i would maybe only store my transactions and not all) but who will store and share the full history and why?
is the full history even needed (which IMHO would change bitcoins security model if it is dropped completely)?
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you trust your Bitcoins to a Bitcoin Bank with annual 10% interest rate? on: December 09, 2015, 08:04:08 AM
If Coinbase would start lending with 10% annual interest, would you lend them?

i dont trust coinbase ;-)

if eg gmaxwell would start a lending-service and would collect funds and says he is insured i would.
a while ago i lend money on bitfinex with success (ok thats somehow a little safer than normal lending because they cant withdraw - so only the usual counterparty risk applies)
