81  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 18th MAY 2024 re-scheduled on: April 10, 2024, 10:26:39 PM
^^ Ok, but why make a separate press conference for this kind of non-sense from him? He can simply say that Usyk is not going to beat him as size matter. But still he put on a a tirade and attack those CW in history that lost to a good HW fighter.

Quote
“We have weight divisions for a reason. When the cruiserweights step up to the big boys, they are usually found wanting. You can beat the average big ones, but you can’t beat the elite big ones because size really matters,”

https://www.boxingscene.com/tyson-fury-cruiserweights-step-up-theyre-usually-found-wanting--182752

In any case, he should prepared for this fight 100% because if he losses here, this whole press conference is just a bunch of rubbish.
82  Economy / Economics / Re: 2024 & Prediction of World War III - Effect on Cryptocurrencies on: April 10, 2024, 09:48:37 PM
If what happens is not a nuclear war, then the price of Bitcoin will increase rapidly. IMO

That could be the worst case scenario in a war, each countries using their nuclear weapon and it will be bad for us.

When there is a war in which no more than 6 countries participate, inflation is a very big risk, especially since the government blocks access to all banks in that country, so fiat currency will lose its value. People affected by war certainly need food and shelter, Bitcoin is one of the most perfect alternatives for saving money.
Bitcoin will survive even though the war lasts a long time, its influence is still strong as an economic force when the function of fiat starts to stall.

And that's what happen to WWII isn't it, but what will be the hedge during that time? It's the old and reliable, Gold. So the question is, can Bitcoin be the digital Gold that we all have been touting about? And it could be the savior for us, hedge after the war? So I guess there will effect on crypto whether negative or positive.

Hopefully, we don't want to see this kind of scenario happening in our lifetime.
83  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: April 10, 2024, 08:16:00 PM
It doesn't necessarily need to be a steady income, I could be a money that comes once in 3 months, 6 months or such intervals and you decide to divide that amount into parts and invest them on intervals instead of buying with all the amount at once, so yeah the idea of having a steady income leads to the fact that for DCA and accumulating bitcoin to give you the best results you have to be kind of steady and consistent in doing so, so some folks that haven't got a steady income can at times pause or stop due to their money getting exhausted and at times even us up their reserves if they have quite the appetite for buying bitcoin, and your emergency funds also has nothing in to do with steady income, its just like that savings we never touch and we build just to insure that we never sell our holdings based on misfortunes or emergencies and this should be up to 3 months of your expenses to be potent enough.
I might not be a regular poster here but with the little I have read in this thread it needs a steady income to be able to withstand the accumulation process. The 3 to 6 months you are talking about, looks like the lump sum method which may not work for every bitcoin investor. Gradually investing what you can afford is better than waiting to invest big. Sometimes the little investment you see as nothing will shuck you when you see the results after so many years of regular investment. And not every body is opptunesd to see money in bulk. We should be able to manage the little we have than expecting so much before investing. You should have been in beter position to know by now because you are one of a regular poster here as I have read you posts here.
That is not entirely correct, you don't need steady income to starting investing in bitcoin. A contractor whose income does not flow regularly can still invest in bitcoin when he is able to execute a contract and make good funds. All he just need to do is to set aside part of any bulk payment he receives for investment in bitcoin while he use the remaining for his personal needs pending when he receives another payment from executing more jobs. Let's take for example, a contractor receives $50,000 as profit for a job he has done, he can decided to set aside as little as 10% which is $5,000 to be invested using weekly or monthly DCA. This way he could spread the investment in such a way that before he exhaust the funds completely, he would have received another cash inflow.

Many people make the mistake of not investing in bitcoin because they want to have huge amount of money before they get started. Even people who could afford to invest $20 weekly without blinking an eye, just because they want it big they refused to invest. There was a time I was thinking that bitcoin investment is for the rich, many people are even still nurturing such wrong notion. It took me a while before realising that any income class can actually invest in bitcoin.  Learning about the DCA method also helped a lot in making me see what I can achieve with little amount invested regularly in bitcoin.
The thing about this whole investment in bitcoin is that the investor need to understand the context of consistency and what it can do because its exactly what pushes some great men out of the same league with people that are even having more than they have.  When you are consistent with your holdings, you would be surprised the length you will go at the end of staying consistent with whatever you are doing.

And that's where DCA will enter the picture, and it is what the experience trader here in our community will advise. And it's obvious, you don't need huge capital to begin with, and regardless of what is the price of Bitcoin, you can slowly accumulate and without you knowing, maybe in weeks or months you could have save a lot in your wallet.

It's really effective though, used this method myself and I was really surprise how easy this strategy is as I have total control of how much money I will invest, meaning the old adage of "invest what you can afford" mantra. It will be mentally tough grinding weeks after weeks, but if you have a goal then you can get over that psychology and you will be amazed that you have invested x amount in x weeks already and your wallet is growing.
84  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 10, 2024, 07:33:32 PM
Yes, the West are still very hotly contested and when we thought that a Lakers vs Warriors showdown could be happening, there are still some scenarios that will happen that will not make that event happen. So everyone should really try to win all the games remaining, and this could be the first season that we really appreciate what a play-in should be, teams fighting it out till the last game of the season. Only 1 games are separating this team, so most likely a 2 game winning streak will not be as bad. I know that you are a Warriors fans, and so it's good to see them back, the Klay and Curry hitting those 3's just like during their primes.

There’s a high chance that Lakers will be the opponent of GSW on the play in tournament since Kings has 3 remaining matches which is very manageable for them to win while Lakers have a scheduled match against Pelcs which is in need to win to secure their top 6 position while they have a very close standing before during their previous matches.

I don’t want to see Lakers vs GSW on playin tournament but it seems that it’s destined to happened given how the remaining matches of teams 6th to 10th are all manageable to all of them which means they will just stay on their current position.

I'm not opposed to seeing the Lakers and Warriors in the play-in tournament together.  I think it would be cool to see another LeBron vs Steph matchup, although I don't think the Warriors have much of a chance against them.  I'd also love to see them both in the playoffs, but think it's better for the sport if they matchup at some point.  The Warriors dynasty is ending and LeBron's career isn't far behind.  This might be the last time we see this LeBron vs Warriors dynasty matchup after so many good years of battling each other.  Better to enjoy it while it's here.  Smiley

Yes, as much as we don't want to see either of them being eliminated this season, but it's what going to happen though, they are in the bottom, 9th and 10th, and with this new design, they will have to face each other and see who will be eliminated.

It will be the classic, Steph vs Lebron here, although Lebron's team is totally different now, but still there is this competitive between this two players that we hope this game should be in a playoff series and not just a play-in game, do or die elimation.
85  Economy / Economics / Re: Accepting Bitcoin for paying tax on: April 09, 2024, 09:07:06 PM
Switzerland is a first rate country and I believed that they are also one of the pioneers of having a cash less society. So I'm not going to be surprised to see them accepting Bitcoin as payment scheme.

As far as I remember, there was even a company there who wanted to used the excess energy from this food production to mine Bitcoin.

So this news shouldn't be amazed because they are every bit a crypto friendly nation.
86  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Canelo Alvarez - Jaime Munguia May 4 Super Middleweight Championship on: April 09, 2024, 08:36:37 PM
And Oscar Dela Hoya continues to troll Canelo Alvarez with this poll,

https://twitter.com/AccordToBoxing/status/1777450073456267291

I think this will be bad for Munguia if his promoter as going to wake up the animal in Canelo. Oscar even poses a picture with Benavidez if I'm not mistaken. But I think this is jus to test Canelo in like a psyche war. But then again it could backfire big time, IMHO.

Of all the promoters Oscar is the one who loves to Troll because he is also a boxer he knows that psyche war could throw off a boxer from his game, so he is doing this strategy against Canelo, but Canelo has been through all this all his boxing career after Canelo beat the hell out of Munguia he will the one trolling Oscar.

It's only a month to go before the fight and both fighters do not thrash-talk each other they have mutual respect with each other, but knowing Canelo and Munguia will put all their anger in the ring, so far only a few people believe that Munguia will have a chance against Canelo, but who knows Munguia is capable of pulling up an upset, we just never know.

And most likely that's why Oscar step up with this trolling as both are Mexicans and respect each other. Oscar thinks of a way to ignite the fire in Canelo by going to social media. Of course it has reach on the camp of Canelo now and for sure they might feed the troll in Oscar and I think Oscar loves to see how the camp of Canelo will react as he still knows them by this day.

Munguia though should not be affected by this kind of stunt by his promoter, he should focus and be motivated to beat Canelo and be the next biggest star, not just for Mexicans but the next PPV stars like Ryan Garcia. But the difference is that he has a belt in his waist and not all hype.
87  Other / Meta / Re: i was just curious... on: April 09, 2024, 08:00:06 PM
Chances are many of them sold their Bitcoins when it went x10 or x100.
I would say that chances are pretty high.

I know two early adopters cases (close friend and friend of that friend) where they cashed out way too early, at around ~$200. They both got back in later but at the higher price and interestingly they are not bothered much with the fact they could have been millionaires now, which is a healthy attitude ofc.
Yea, the chances are very high and I do not also blame them for selling early because as at then they were also in good profits. Imagine someone who bought at $0.45 and sold at $10, that's such a large margin of profits. During those times, just a few would believe that bitcoin will one day clutch $1,000.

And if you look at the price,

$0.04865->to current price, that is staggering, +141540150.95% as per CMC.

But every bull run, we will here and saw old tweets of some early adopters that sold early and now regretting their decisions as they really be multi-millionaires.

And how about the person who accidentally throw his computer with 8,000 BTC on it? They really didn't know how big Bitcoin could be in the future.
88  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Celebrity Poker Games: Publicity Stunt or Genuine Passion? on: April 09, 2024, 07:35:11 PM
As far as I know those celebrities who did play poker is a real gambler or has passion for the game itself. This celebrities has a ton of money to burn so I wouldn't be surprised if there were underground poker sessions for this celebrities to pass the time and play for real money and for the fun of it.

So with that, I will say majority plays it to show their skills and then have the bragging rights of winning celebrity poker. And if life imitating art, we've seen a lot of movies that has poker as the main center of the story line. Like the movie Rounders.

89  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bull has Started But Not Yet ATH. on: April 09, 2024, 03:57:40 PM
Bitcoin bull run has obviously started and we're still in it's early stage, we're looking at a massive bull run in this season because of the Bitcoin ETF that has propelled price to surge, hopefully we're going to see a new ATH at a peaked price of $200k. For the first we have already withnessed a new ATH before halving, this is majorly because of the ETF approval, therefore the previous halving patterns didn't apply where new ATH happens after halving. It's not late to continue accumulating Bitcoin, because we're going to see a massive ROI before bear run starts.

If we talk about bull run, yeah this could be the definition of it. But in Bitcoin market, the official bull run starts after the block halving which is still weeks away from us. And that's why the price is not that big as we expected, although new all time high is achieved, what we are looking for is like $100k at least conservative estimates.

So it's a long way to go for us, but it makes us very excited as block halving is around the corner and we will see if the cycle will continue. 2024-2025 is touted to be one of the biggest bull run that we have seen throughout our history, as you have said, you are looking for like $200k top price.
90  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 08, 2024, 10:12:45 PM
I’ve been on losing streak for almost 3 weeks of gambling, not daily but in random basis for over 3 weeks. Mostly I play only live blackjack using small bankroll around 50$ to 100$  . No matter what I do, slow play or whatever betting strategy makes me lose since dealer card is always so good around 90% of my game.

What I did is I stop gambling for a week and decided to try different game so that my mind will be fresh and positive. I play slot games and manage to win huge amount that is enough to recover my 3 weeks losses and gain a decent profit. I’m just using small bet on slot games when I hit the huge jackpot.

In conclusion, if you are already having a rough time on playing same game over and over despite you have a good experience on it before. Trying new games to you and taking break will help you to snap out of your losing streak because chasing losses usually make us trap on our losses.

In your case, how do you approach when you are on losing streak so badly on specific game. Does changing game works for you?

Yeah, just play other games to somewhat stir away from the bad luck that you used to play. Or if you are playing online, maybe switching other casinos as well. Or even uses different gadgets, like borrowing my wife's mobile phone and then connect to a different wifi because when I have a losing streak, I'm thinking that the casino might be tracking my mobile phone and my ip address and "does not want me to win". Or let someone play for me, like my brother-in-law, just me sitting beside him but not deciding what to bet.

Or if I play in a brick and mortar casino, let's side in Casino A, my favorite casino is not letting me win, then go to Casino B.
91  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 08, 2024, 08:40:14 PM

Yeah, and just imagine if the Warriors won against the Mavs, but then with that win, the Mavs moves up and bump down Phoenix. So it's going to be a crazy ending in the Western conference in the last 5-7 remaining games this season.

The wild Western Conference is amid unpredictable matches and it's best to consider that the number 6 and 9 teams are already in the playoffs but they still have unexpected outcomes in their remaining games. As we all see, the Lakers are not giving up easy games these days and they using their remaining games for a chance to climb further up they have a high chance to do that since they are all healthy and giving it all their best to secure their spot. I wonder how will it turn up if they win against all their remaining games and the others lose it somehow, this is a crucial phase now and everyone's eyes are on the West right now since the East is more likely already settled.

Lakers lost though. Mavs has move to 5th spot already, Pels and Suns are tied for the 6th-7th spot and then we have the Kings, Lakers and then the Warriors. So I do agree that the remaining games are still very important to any of this teams. But the Warriors aim is to at least goes to the play-in and they have accomplished it already as Houston is out of the race with another defeat last night.

They give the Warriors though some anxious moments. But as we have said, the Warriors has the DNA of a champion and so they were able to stay focus, Klay and Kuminga manage to do the damage in their game against the Jazz.

But they will be facing the Lakers next, it could be without AD as he got poked again in the eyes by Kyle Anderson. This game though could be a preview of their play-in games so this is going to be a great game.
92  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC dip again? on: April 08, 2024, 08:10:15 PM
I won't set a specific price target for this market downturn, but I will aim to stay within 15,000 units below the peak. This downturn feels distinct from last year's, as the price surged leading up to the halving. What's intriguing now is that the halving hasn't occurred yet, yet we're already seeing all-time high prices. This suggests there's still significant room for upward movement.

Well we are coming in into a new quarter of the year and price may get into a new correction but I hope it wasn't that deep to hurt many investor and put their position to sell because they get caught up of their fear. If so, this will also cause to more decisive candle lower. Even BTC may have a dip, I will only perceive it as a short term price action and remain bullish in long term perspective. Halving is coming in and there would be more changes.  Until that happen, I believe any dip would be a better way to position yourself to another buying opportunity.

Nope, there is no correction, on the contrary, the price is moving to $72k, maybe there was excitement as we are fast approaching block halving and so investors are pouring their money before that event event.

Who knows, maybe we will reach another all time high pre-halving. But for those who are looking long term, not minding the incoming bull run, still a good time to accumulate. So I wouldn't be surprised if we maintain this price, above $70k before the halving and not seeing any dip as the sentiments are greedy or very positive for a incoming bull run.

94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is A Beacon of Hope for the Present and Future on: April 06, 2024, 09:44:35 PM
I was reading some text by Victor Frankl and in it he believed that the most important thing we can do for our fellow human beings is to give them hope for the future. With regards to the bitcoin, its purpose is in line with this idea. In the Bitcoin White paper, it is outlined that Bitcoin represents a decentralized financial system, that will offer hope for economic empowerment and financial inclusion, especially in regions facing economic instability or lacking access to traditional banking. By granting people the power to be in charge of their finances through non-custodial wallets, and offering an alternative to centralized systems, Bitcoin carries with it the hope for a more equitable and inclusive future. You can see the connections between these two and it is phenomenal. It is just amamzing. Isn't it. I just thought to share it here.

Yes, however, I will just emphasize though that there could be newbies here who think that Bitcoin will solve their problems right away. Or it that Bitcoin is like a magic bean that will eradicate our financial woes or the key to resolved our issues, it is not.

We will have to work our ass off, invest wisely, be a holder and sell and timing the market at the top to make profits. So it gives hope but it won't eradicate poverty as others might think. And it won't replace fiat (but that is for another discussion and debate).
95  Economy / Gambling / Re: 8ombard.com - 👑 Pick, Play, Prosper! 👑 100% Bonus Up To $150 - Provably Fair! on: April 06, 2024, 09:18:24 PM
Hi All,

Thank you for the feedback - we agree! It has dragged on for a while.

We have given you a hint…. We will run this for a week. If it is still not guessed, we will reduce the range once again.

Good Luck!!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5489015.msg63808802#msg63808802

That's better now because the range is reduced almost 10x, 1200+ numbers only now (although I think it is still too much). Surprisingly there was no one who predicted a number which is on the hint Smiley. It proves that 1-10k too big range to guess and may take so long time to have a winner. Hope you'll get the winner after you gave the hint, but you should also need to see about the interest from the community. If there is no significant increment in the number of participants/guesses, I think it is better if you change the whole giveaway system. Maybe split the prize into 3 winners (50-30-20) and give a week for people to guess and winners will be those who guess the closest number(s).

You’re right. It’s all a little bit of trial and error still. But we will look to do more which favours the communities interest.

And up to this point, still no one has guess the correct number? Maybe it's time to reduce the range once again? So that those who are in this game can narrow it down and hopefully someone will guess it right this time  Smiley

96  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 06, 2024, 08:48:44 PM
With the Pelicans and Kings losing earlier, the Lakers can snatch the 8th seed tonight if they win against the Cavaliers. The Pelicans lose to the Spurs, and with that loss, the Pelicans' record is 45-332, 1 game behind the Kings and the Lakers.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. If the Lakers could win their last 5 games, they'd for sure secure the 7th or 8th seed considering the Kings and the Pelicans will lose a couple of more games from the remainder of the season.
Now, it looks like the Lakers last 5 games isn't against an opponent whom they have a record of lossing against them. I think the Cavs is the only team that's tougher to deal with than the rest of the other 4 team the Lakers is about to face.  This is getting interesting, but nothing is more interesting if the Lakers and the Warriors will face each other in the play ins.

Yeah, and just imagine if the Warriors won against the Mavs, but then with that win, the Mavs moves up and bump down Phoenix. So it's going to be a crazy ending in the Western conference in the last 5-7 remaining games this season.

While in the East, the 10th spot belongs to the Hawks. And it just shows how the West team is right now, no offense to those who are Eastern teams, but having a tie on the first spot and then the 6th-10th spot teams are juggling for their position is just insane.

Lately I've been generating images with AI on a private level and for entertainment. It has occurred to me that at some point I might add some to a post but I would like to be clear that I am not breaking any rules. In any case it would be as an addition to what I write and making clear that it is an image generated with AI.

Or maybe put a note saying that this image is AI generated?

There are still AI generated tools that if you used for free, has a watermarks. Unless you are wiling to subscribe to an AI image program that is too expensive just to used in in this community.
98  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 06, 2024, 11:26:58 AM
^^ That will be another great leap for us if we see Bitcoin getting into $75k, and if we unlock that, it's really hard to imagine what will be the bull run is going to be. We've seen threads like $190k at the top price and there are some who think that $200k is also possible.

Hopefully you are correct with that chart and prediction. Who wouldn't like to see $75k? But still depends on the whales or what retails think. I mean if we pour our money here and take advantage while we are still a couple of days from halving then good. But if we wanted to see what will happen during and post halving and see everything first then we might be stuck at this price levels.
99  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Understanding the Legality and Myth of Card Counting in Blackjack on: April 05, 2024, 08:44:18 PM
I have learned that card counting is legal in blackjack but casinos frown at it. Most casinos have a surveillance camera that watch each table to catch a player who caught counting cards. A player may be thrown out or banned from the casino if caught counting cards because there is a belief that it gives the player an edge. How true is this or this a myth? If for instance card counting is legal in the UK but outlawed by casinos doesn't it makes it illegal?

It's not a myth, card counters can really take advantage of the casinos and that is why Black Jack table is one of the most monitor in a traditional base casinos. And most card counters are well-known and they are recorded by casinos and being shared amongst themselves so that they will recognized and they are going to be ask to leave the premises politely.

It's not illegal per se, it's that you just uses your brain to memorized the cards, but if you uses like electronics to card count then that is illegal and casino can charge you with that.
100  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling problems on different races on: April 05, 2024, 07:46:23 PM
Gambling problem is a serious issue which has affected the millions of gamblers in the world generally. While anyone can develop a problem with gambling, i tend to understand that race has more to contribute to the problems of gambling in the society. Most historical practices and traditional system of gambling practices within the different race has an influence and if a gambler do not take these things into consideration he would face more problems as a gambler.

Africans have little of gambling addict because they have only local gambling shops (lack of economic opportunities to improve the level of gambling). so they rarely reach full addiction. While in some other part of the world like the white, they are more likely to have co-occurring gambling disorders because of  depression or anxiety. And other races have high rate of gambling problems due to the presence of casinos on reservations, for example in Asia.

When I play on live betting let's say a Evolution roulette games, I will hear the host saying that gamblers are all over, from Asia to even Russia. So I don't know if it has something to do with races or it's that gambling are embrace by this society that with the advent of online gambling, many of them are now playing.

So there is no boundaries in gambling, any one can get addicted, you can't generalized that Africans have little addicts, we really don't know that. I've seen on thread about a lady crying losing money in gambling and if my memory serves me right, she is from Nigeria or some countries in Africa.
