901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 will determined bitcoin fate on: July 02, 2023, 07:00:07 PM
Many expectations of bitcoin this year failed, but I notice that bitcoin always breakout into a new price after interval of five years, the last massive explosion of price was between 2017-2018 and since then, bitcoin has not record major price increase. Now if you calculate from 2018 to 2023 that's about 5 years though because of policy of economic inflation and influence the price has not gain its actual strength to break resistance limits and if the remaining quarter of the year fails even more, then we should expect 2024 to 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 fire. We should start to make plans for 2024 more buys more gains.

I'm sorry but the bull cycle is like every 4 years, 2017 -> new all time high $19,+++, next in 2021 new all time high, $68,+++. So if the pattern continues then 2025, we might see another all time high.

So I will suggest to you to look back and bitcoin's past performance.

As for you advise of buying more, yeah, do DCA. But the best time to buy or accumulate is at the start of the bear market. But then again, we still have less than a year before the halvening so it's not too late.
902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 02, 2023, 10:54:10 AM

As I understand it, negotiations are back on track but it didn't state that the fight is officially sign by both parties.

Meaning they have to go to rounds of another talk and see if they can settle their difference and I would say that in paper it might be looking good for Whyte as he has the chance, but I think this is a fight that Joshua needs to bring back his confidence in himself because taking Deontay Wilder. And same with Wilder, he should give another fight first because their eventual showdown in December.

Yup! It is back after Anthony Joshua's team removed the rematch clause so the fight is underway now this is going to be a fight that could get back the confidence of Anthony Joshua or could it be? because it could also become a false confidence for him, for me this could also be a positive thing for Dillian Whyte because he can get a huge pay cut for sure his last fight was against Jermaine Franklin last November 26, 2022, while Joshua got his recent fight last April 01, 2023, this is a one-sided fight in my opinion last win for Joshua against Whyte was a round 7 TKO,

The Jared Anderson vs Charles Martin for me is a one-sided fight Jared Anderson is a huge favorite of (1.06) while Charles Martin was a huge underdog of (8.60) this is going to be a dominant fight for Jaed Anderson and the fight could just last for just 2 to 1 rounds only, for me, this is a sure win for Jared Anderson by KO win, but I don't really want to make a bet for this fight because of the huge odds,

First time that Jared Anderson was extended to 12 full rounds in this fight, maybe for those who have bet on it, might be huge win for them.

Although he scored a knockdown, Charles Martin was very tough, but the final score is Judges David DeJonge (99-90), Ben Rochester (99-90) and Mike Fitzgerald (99-91) all scored for Anderson.

And for those who bet on 1.06 ML for Anderson, they might have been nervous as it is expected that Anderson is going to continue with his knockout record. But the late replacement Martin doesn't want to be the next victim of Anderson.
903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo - September 30th in Las Vegas on: July 02, 2023, 09:42:16 AM
Wow, this is nuts, i mean of the two Jermall has the higher chance of betting Canelo than Jermell because the latter would jump up two-weight division just to face the unified champion at 168lbs division.

Whoever of the twin brother he will face, surely for me this is cherry-picking at its finest, how come they can't come up with a fight with Benavidez where that would generate more gate revenue than this one?

Remember that Canelo didn't have a good performance against John Ryder in Mexico. And there are a lot of boxing fans who are somewhat disappointed with his performance as he is expected to win by a knockout. And maybe he was really affected by his hand injuries. So he need to pick a fighter that he has a good chance to beat without damaging his legacy.

And maybe after this it will be Benavidez as it is reported that his deal with Al Haymon includes a fight with David.
904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 02, 2023, 08:27:01 AM
Wow, just saw the news that Damian Lillard has requested a trade out of Portland. I mean can you blame the guy? He’s been one of the best players in the league since he entered and has been one of the best shooters I’ve ever seen, dude is just a killer.

I can’t wait to see where he might go.

Yes, I guess it's about time for Lillard to get out of Portland as we have been discussing before, he has wasted his prime years and Portland try but failed to build a good roster around it.

Fee VanVleet signing with Houston was an interesting one. Wanted him in Chicago badly.

Bulls will be over the luxury tax if they chooses to chase FVV. One of the big winners here is Fred himself, first undrafted to have a $100+ million contract. Just amazing and huge money on his way. So let's see if he can live up to the hype that Houston is expecting him with that huge contract. I thought that they are going to get James Harden again.
905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why MicroStrategy can buy BTC but not other institutions? on: July 01, 2023, 05:38:45 PM
If I understood it correctly spot BTC ETF will allow institutional investors to but BTC, and hence a lot of people waiting spot BTC ETF to be approved. But then how come MicroStrategy is already heavily invested in BTC? Why they can buy it, while other institutional investors waiting for ETF?

Because some companies view bitcoin as not a good investment, simply as that. I remember watching a interview with a CEO of a transportation company that haul passengers, are afraid of bitcoin's volatility.

And maybe this is one of the biggest concerns by majority of the companies.

As opposed to Saylor who believes in bitcoin despite seeing the bear/bull market.
906  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will fall or rise? $30400 the recent price on: July 01, 2023, 12:23:39 PM
After the SEC did not want to approve bitcoin spot ETF, bitcoin fall from $31000 back to $30400 as of today price. Bitcoin has been staying between $29400 and $31250 since many days. The support as been at $30000 while the resistance as been at $31000. The market is difficulty to know which position to take. What are you people predicting that bitcoin price would be? Is bitcoin breaking the resistance and increase above $31000 which could take the price to $35000, or bitcoin price is getting back to $25000 again?

I guess it's really hard to say where the price will go.

But to be fair, SEC says that bitcoin spot ETF needs more substance, and so it didn't mean that they have rejected it right away. And with that, the price is not even affected by it, as it goes to $31k then back to $30k again and most likely we will stay here and the support is going to be strong.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/sec-says-spot-bitcoin-etf-filings-are-inadequate-390336e8

Not unless there will be another big news, that will push it to $35k this month of July. So we will see what will be the price action for this month.
907  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: July 01, 2023, 11:58:11 AM
Donaire still winning here from my own take, Santiago's capability is not the same or far from how Inoue dominated
this division.

There's a significant gap between Inoue and Santiago. Inoue has held the championship in the division for quite some time, while Santiago is currently just a contender. In fact, both Donaire and Santiago are contenders fighting for the vacant belt that Inoue left behind. It's undeniable that Inoue stands out in the discussion because there hasn't been a fighter who comes close to his skills, except perhaps for Casimero.

Yeah as he fought Donaire during his prime while Doniare in the first match was at rest for a long time.

Then in the rematch we all witness that age already against Donaire, his speed is no longer the same and that wrong decision
to go for a toe-to-toe confrontation with Inoue, something that led him to kiss the ring in the early round.

The speed and power is still there and even his timing, it's that Inoue was too great and knows what Donaire can bring in the table and he is ready for that.

Though, against Santiago which far different from Inoue, we might see Donaire to excel he might be aging but still have that
skills and capabilities to match up with the young contender.

That's why others think that Santiago has a good chance as Donaire might be a damage goods at 40 years old. But we can't say that for now, unless in the fight he shows his age, like his speed and power is no longer there. And then brutally getting knockout. If that happens then maybe it's time for him to retire and hang up his gloves for good.
908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 01, 2023, 10:32:15 AM
Saw some sparring clips of Inoue in Twitter, and it seems he looks huge at 122 lbs, or maybe he was in the fighting weight as we still have a month to go. And even Tank Davis is hype as well and he said that he is going to watch the fight.

So there is a big buzz on Inoue, and I do agree that the fight should have been made in the US so they he will still get the needed exposure to the audience. Maybe in his next fight, it could be in US against Tapales (if he wins here).

If the demands will call it out for sure we might see that happen, if Inoue will manage to win against Fulton and he decide to
unify again all the belts in this division.

Sure thing that promoters will aim for a bigger venue, the timing for Inoue and Tapales might be very crucial as they needed to gain
that attention to make sure that the fight will earn decent viewership.

Let's wait for the outcome of this upcoming fight and see what will be the next thing that will happen.

As far as I know there will be unification fight, Marlon Tapales the Filipino who upset Akhmadaliev to win the 2 belt, is just watching and waiting in the side as he will be fighting the winner of this match.

So there is a big chance that Inoue will not only become a 2 belt champion, he could be the first boxer to unify all the belts in the 4 belts era in 2 divisions. So that will be huge. But first he needs to beat Fulton on July 25 and then goes for Tapales next.
909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 01, 2023, 09:44:53 AM
Reports says Gabe Vincent joining the Lakers,

Quote
Free agent guard Gabe Vincent is expected to join the Los Angeles Lakers on a three-year, $33 million deal, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

https://www.nba.com/news/gabe-vincent-2023-free-agency

So this is a great news for the Lakers and Lebron as he will have a good wingman and a 3 point shooter. Plus Gabe has one of the best seasons so far last year with the Heat.

But as the same time, they let go of Dennis as he moves to Toronto. Because Fred VanVleet signing a three-year, $130 million max contract with the Houston Rockets.

With D'Lo and Vincent together with a healthy LeBron and Davis seems good to me.

There is news that D'Lo though might be out for the Lakers next season. So we might not see the two together in Lakers uniform. Rui has re-signed, so it's good news that they can retain the services of Rui because he was a standout during the playoffs.

Vincent, as we've seen him played last season, he can contribute a lot to the Lakers knowing how LeBron's type game now
he's more on locating the open man. With both D'Lo and Vincent, he can easily drop the ball and get a high percentage
shots outside, or he can locate Davis inside for the easy basket.

Yeah, him and Max Struss who is also reported to be going somewhere else and that's why the Heat is scrambling to find a replacement. Vincent shot almost 40% on 3's last year and for sure the Lakers are going to benefit from it if they spot him open especially how good Lebron is as far as passing to the open man.

Alot of persons on this forum always advise newbies on post quality.my question is simple and on behalf of other newbies like my self is it necessary to monitor your activity and post count in comparison with your merits

Like does it mean  someone with and account say
Activity;50
Merit;87
Post;51

Has more quality post or is a better poster than someone with say
Activity;100
Merit;87
Posts;150

You can't compare the though, Activity, Merit and Post Count has nothing to do with it. Others have posted already some threads that might help you out with regards to all of them.

But I will say that Merit, or how someone gave a member a merit is very subjective and so it varies from individual to individual. As long as you are engaging in a good conversation on a certain topic, it's good enough and for sure merit will come. Regardless if you're reply is just one liner or you created a thread yourself to help others.
911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermall Charlo Super Middleweight (September 16) on: June 30, 2023, 11:30:15 AM
I can assume he is a huge Charlo fan and blindly believe in his victory, but I see nobody who can beat Canelo in middleweight or super middleweight divisions today. His opponent can only rely on a lucky punch, which they would get if Canelo would be to much into playing with his opponent. But, as Canelo stays concentrated all the time, the only chance his opponents have is to catch him on counter punching.

It's obvious that this is the best weight for Canelo, he once go up to 175 lbs and beat an old champion, but when he tried to fight a young and fresh legs in Bivol, he lost. So he goes down to 168 lbs and finished the trilogy with GGG in which he won soundly. And then John Ryder a couple of months ago, a tune up fight coming from injuries and still he won despite the valiant effort of Ryder.

So yeah, pretty much at 168 lbs Canelo Alvarez is unbeatable, the closest fighter to beat him is GGG on their first fight. Charlo might be good at 160 lbs, but this is a new territory for him and we have to question his power if he still has at super middleweight.
912  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 30, 2023, 11:05:21 AM
Maybe seeing Paul and Steph starting at the same time.
There is a possibility that this approach would help Curry conserve his energy, as they would already have a facilitator, while he and Thompson focus on finding open shots. It would result in a smaller lineup, but adjustments can always be made.

It's quite evident already that the Golden State Warriors aren't looking to change their line-up to keep up with the giant players nowadays that can literally protect the rim and paint, instead, they are giving more focus in what they have and the strengths where they are famous for, small ball.

Now that CP3 is on the Warriors, I think so too that he will be in the starting line-up but that won't be long as they cannot afford to lose CP3 via injury and will just let him rest in-between or where the Warriors needed him the most.

Yeah, this is also what I'm seeing Kerr doing in the next season, they are going small and obviously giving up height against team that has great center. But they still have Green and Kevon Looney.

And they are used to small ball, there are games that you won't see Looney down the stretch, it was Draymond who play center position. And then we have Klay and Steph and then Poole for them. So same lineup, except that CP3 will be their point guard and then Steph focusing on his shooting as well as Klay. So nothing has chance in their style of play despite losing Poole.
They have been successful using a small ball lineup, but they need to ensure that Curry and Thompson are consistently performing well in every game. Their previous issue was poor shooting and being outrebounded simultaneously, which could prove detrimental if it happens again. While they may sacrifice rebounding to some extent, they must prioritize shooting accuracy, particularly in three-pointers.

That's the recipe.

They have been playing small ball when they won their ring without KD and Curry coming back from injury and same with Thompson. So the recipe is already there, it's that last year it was obvious a very different team as there are a lot of drama even before the start of the season.

And that's the reason why they let go of a toxic Jordan Poole, and then they can continue with their small lineup with Chris Paul.

So this might be effective for them if Paul blended naturally and no more drama.
913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: North Carolina is pushing forward a bill to study holding Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 01:13:39 AM
Nah, it's just small amount though, and I don't think that they can just come up with a conclusion that holding bitcoin is good.

Just like El Salvador, up to this day, there are still a lot of people who opposes Bukele's move specially when they started to lose money on their balance sheet. But what if bitcoin goes on a bull run next year?

How much is that $50k? - xxx,xxx or more? can they conclude then that bitcoin is the best asset to hold and not gold?
914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on live game or while game hasn't started yet? on: June 30, 2023, 01:01:26 AM
Most of the time when I prefer to go with the underdog my choice will be live betting, because during the match we'll get better odds so that the bet amount can be minimised and our luck can be tried. This at times brings luck and in such a stance I've won @10 odds, but those are very minimal bet amount. Other than this when the match is in critical situation, where any of the team could win I prefer making bets which will have high chance of wins.

Underdogs are usually good to bet because of the odds, no matter it's live beating or pre-game.

But if you watch the game and thinks that maybe the odds are not going in your way, perhaps you can bet again to minimized your losses and that's mostly I done though. So for me it really depends on the game itself and how the teams are playing that time. Or maybe you can go put a big bet on the underdog even if the odds chance slightly on their favor, still a win win for us.
915  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermall Charlo Super Middleweight (September 16) on: June 29, 2023, 02:15:42 PM
     -  I think Charlo will win there, because from what I can see if he is only Canelo in terms of stamina and skills of punches, this is just my assessment. Although most of this is Canelo's advantage, but for me I don't think so. We'll find out when they're in the ring.

Although, they are both showing off and teasing each other, let's see who is telling them the truth when they are both fighting.

Are you from this planet or just trolling us? If you think that Charlo has advantage in stamina and boxing skills, then what can you say about his 2 year pause, while Canelo boxed best of the best during these two years? Dont forget that Charlo will be in 168 for the first time in his career, while Canelo feels in 168 like fish in water. If you so sure in your prediction, will you place money on Charlo? Cheesy

He has his own perception about this fight, and it seems that only a few people believe that Charlo would win, as reflected in the betting odds for this particular fight. If he thinks Charlo will win, then that's his personal opinion. However, even if we strongly favor Canelo in this matchup, we cannot guarantee his victory.

Yeah, he can do that by all means, bet on Charlo if he thinks that he is better than Canelo Alvarez, the current cash cow and in the pound for pound list.

We are just laying the grounds for what we think might be the factor why Charlo can't beat Canelo at this point. Charlo is away from the sports so his stamina and even his boxing skills might be in question. And then he is fighting Canelo's best weight. Charlo has seen 168 lbs inside the ring. Maybe in his off season he might be carrying a full 168 lbs+, but it's different if you are training with that a lot of weight that your body is not accustomed to.

917  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin pumping when the economy is heading into a recession? on: June 29, 2023, 11:57:30 AM
I guess by now we have the answer, despite where the economy is heading or if we are in a recession, the bitcoin market doesn't care. What investors did is to pump it hard because of the BlackRock news and it seems it has somewhat remain above $30k at the end of this month when everyone thought that June might be negative again.

So again, whatever happens to the global economy, if it goes worst, then bitcoin could be a hedge against recession as it will be seen as a store of value. Just like what happen in the pandemic in 2020, although we have the Covid-19 scare, still the price pumps so hard till 2021.
918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Return Of Terra Luna Classic on: June 28, 2023, 12:17:41 PM
I think it's over for Terra, and every project that is associated with it.

Although we might see some good price action, it's obvious that it is just for pure pump and dump. They have lost all the trust already, and it's supposedly leader is in jail right now.

So why we should trust this project again, and why someone is shilling for it? obviously, we all know the answer to that.

Sorry OP, I wouldn't put any investment regardless of what innovation they are supposedly going to offer in the future.
919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermall Charlo Super Middleweight (September 16) on: June 28, 2023, 11:31:01 AM
The Bivol rematch might happen next year or maybe we will not see that happening at all as Canelo is with PBC now. Bivol is with Eddie Hearn and Match room so I doubt that they are going to work out as Canelo's contract with PBC is exclusive for a 3 fight deal.
Canelo is scared to fight with prime Bivol, so he avoid it and choose to fight with the opponents he think he will win e.g. Jermall Charlo, David Benavidez, and David Morrell. If the undisputed light heavyweight will happen e.g. Bivol vs Beterbiev, if Bivol win, Canelo will wait until he move to heavyweight or retire. But if Beterbiev win, I think Canelo will dare to fight with Bivol since both of them don't have any belt and the judges will favor on Canelo.

We can say it like that, and that's why they low ball Bivol during their second negotiation because they knew they are going to decline that offer. And with that he decided to move to PBC and so he cut ties with Eddie Hearn so obviously no more Bivol fight as Hearn said that it's hard to negotiate that fight.

And with that, Bivol is now hanging, although he will have a good chance to have Beterbiev fight happening. But with all the bad blood between their respective managers, I doubt that this fight is going to happen. So we will see who's next to Bivol, as his career might be in limbo when they turn down that Canelo rematch.
920  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 28, 2023, 11:09:59 AM
There were news that Deontay Wilder has set the contract to the camp of Andy Ruiz Jr.

And Andy seems to have responded already based on that and said that yes, there is negotiations going on and he is coming after the Bronze Bomber. So let's see, hopefully the earlier the better for this to happen.

Because there is also news floating around that AJ vs Wilder in December. And Francis Ngannou said that he also have a fight with Wilder after December.

https://twitter.com/calfkickercom/status/1669903199199690753

I heard conflicting news. Eddie Hearn confirmed in one of his interviews that Deontay Wilder will fight Anthony Joshua on December.

Also, it would be a mistake if Francis Ngannou fought Wilder, I reckon. Ngannou's team should negotiate for a fight vs. Tyson Fury.  It will be the biggest money he can get while the hype is still alive. If Ngannou fights Wilder for a smaller amount and loses, this will kill the hype and all interest for Fury vs. Ngannou will die.

In any case, there is also some rumors that Ryan Garcia will fight Rolly Romero in September if the contracts are signed this month.
The fight between Wilder and Andy Ruiz might be in jeopardy as the camp of Ruiz didn't accept the proposed fight, specially his father is fuming over the contract. They wanted a 50/50 split of the purse, but the camp of Wilder just gave them 30% which for them is not fair since Wilder is no longer a champion and then fought cherry picking Helenius.

While Ruiz put a great display against King Kong Ortiz. So let's see, if this fight not happening then maybe Wilder vs Joshua can happen this December.

They are going at it in public, Wilder says that Ruiz should be man enough and make his own decisions (referring to him with his father do the talking). But his father insists to get 50:50 as this might be their verbal agreement before.

In any case if this fight does not happen, Wilder still has a lot of options like the Joshua fight which we love to see.

As for Ryan Garcia, his team are fighting GBP right now, so I doubt that he will have another fight this year.
