Good morning Bitcoinland.

Doing a better job here of digging out from under the snow than Bitcoin is doing moving up in price... currently $41620USD/$52086CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Yawn.

Annoying price of BTC for long term hodlers….

Some did sold some at good/reasonable prices compared with now.

But to sit on a load of cash with non intentions not really the best thing imo.

Though I understand some would like to buy on the cheap, but now price isn’t yet cheap enough to rebuy, maybe if sold at the ATH-ish, other problem is people who haven’t sold any or very low numbers are a bit stuck as well cause if they want something a little more expensive, then it surely isn’t the price to sell atm…

Struggle of a hodlers life ….

Btc to cheap to sell or to high to buy back….  Grin

Sounds more like the struggle of a tarder's life.

Hodlers simply buy whenever they can and sell only when they must... regardless of the price. Much less stress.

Much more profit.

Haven't seen this much snow in one dump for a few years now.

Hope you're in Mexico, JimboToronto!

Nope, right here in the Big Smoke. We would have been in Mexico by now if Omicron hadn't screwed up air travel.

Luckily we knew it was coming and got salt down before it started. Got our grocery shopping done yesterday. Woke up this morning, sat down at the Hammond and played some snow songs. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Remember the "Mel Lastman" snowfall in 1999? That was a snowfall, twice as deep as this.

We basically treated today as a snow holiday and took an extended siesta this afternoon and then my wife made a big pot of traditional Mexican hot ponche which I spiked with 12-year-old Demerara rum. Warmed us right up. Now we're thawing some well-marbled flatirons. Yum.

We're waiting to see which thaws first, Omicron travel or our lake in Muskoka. We love life downtown but we also need country living.

Life is good.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Bouncing along in the mid-$4xxxx range... currently $43463USD/$54157CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Ho hum.

If you're not political you should ignore the noise, uninstall Chrome/Edge/etc and support Firefox. Seriously, most of the other browsers are a steaming pile of garbage developed by the largest spyware company in the world.

If it's not open source, I'm not interested.

I assume the code is scrutinized regularly to make sure they're not committing the kind of atrocities that the Evil Empire (Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, etc.) are guilty of.

Frankly, IDGAF about some silly politics. Politics is for losers.

This is a Bitcoin forum. There's a separate section for altcoin speculation.

Well this is what Americans supposedly voted for.

To be fair, some of this started under Trump and the unmeasured reaction to the coof (which that was part of) hasn't helped. But yes, those who gave votes to Biden should have known this was on the cards.

Given the choice of the lesser of two evils in not really a choice.

That's how they get you! The most evil thing is that electoral system is designed with 2 candidates in mind. It breaks when there are 3 candidates: if neither of the 3 gets over 50% threshold, then neither of them becomes President. Crazy stuff haha.

806  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you drink alcohol? on: January 12, 2022, 07:11:55 PM
Of course I drink alcohol... and lots of it, but not as much as when I was younger. When I was in my 20s I drank 36-48 bottles of beer every day plus shots of liquor. The last time I drank 40 beers in a day was when I was in my 50s. Now that I'm in my mid-70s its more like only 40 per week.

Moderate consumption of alcohol leads to a longer life. My grandmother drank a couple of glasses of sherry every day and was still sharp at 97 years old. Even immoderate drinking can lead to a long life. Queen Elizabeth's mother drank an amazing amount daily and lived to be 101 years old.

Those are just her daily drinks at home. She famously liked going out to the pubs at night to drink beer with the commoners.

807  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think about Bitcoin? on: January 12, 2022, 06:32:22 PM
I saw one or two users here seems to contradict the price, all post seems like Bitcoin price going to dump, and even on his signature, he predicted the market that Bitcoin price will drop to $10k.

Trolls don't count.

Tether? Ether? Neither!
WTF kind of haiku is that? Cheesy

You want a haiku?
Tether? Ether? Not either!
Is that good enough?

 Cool

Not sure if I am gonna make it till it is midnight here, so here I go prematurely with my good wishes:

Wish y'all an awesome 2022 with much health and such happiness -
and a lot of green candles for BTC (while DOGE goes back to sub 100 Sat  Grin)!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here in Ontario they're shutting down the bars at 10:00PM due to Omicron restrictions so we'll be celebrating at midnight UTC which is 7:00 local time.

Gotta protect our local pub's liquor license but they're not gonna spoil our celebration.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.

Good morning Bitcoinland. Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays, but mainly

Merry Fucking Xmas.

Peace on earth and goodwill to humankind, bulls and bears together.

Had a nice Xmas Eve turkey dinner at the local pub last night with the gang of regulars and we'll be off to a family Xmas ham dinner later this afternoon.

Hopefully we won't be too hung over and bloated tomorrow. Might wanna check out some Boxing Day sales.

Meanwhile prices are going sideways... currently $50740USD/$65005CAD Bitcoinaverage.

Ho hum. Go Bitcoin go.
812  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 24, 2021, 08:05:09 PM
Where are the gay xmas cards?  Grin

I thought it was gay cats this year.

Debating to block buddies 3 bagger or not.

I guess I go for the block wtfn?

Look what you did, he was going up above 49 and you blocked that...

Don't the Buddy blockers realize that they're the reason we're stuck in the $4xxxx range?

Every time Buddy starts to get a full head of steam to head toward a new ATH, someone blocks him and the price drops.

 Roll Eyes

@AlcoHoDL post was legit-basically grievance for a family member, my condolencies.

However, i do think that COVID discussion should be mostly on Bob's thread.
A little here is OK, but not if it dominates.
Personally, i almost never post on this topic (maybe to clarify something biological) and I LIKE the idea of neutrality as I also don't like to discuss the political leanings per se.
It is also true that nothing, apart from bitcoin, unites the members, so we should be focused on bitcoin and connecting topics, imho.
Politics would never be a consensus here and no expectation of polite discourse on that.

I completely agree with all your post - we should look for things that will unite all WO  members despite their views on this clearly political medical not medical political matter called Covid19.

ftfy
___

I agree it's best to minimize this crap here. Bob's thread is in off-topic for a reason.

Delete posts? They can't delete merits.
815  Other / Off-topic / Re: [WO/Hat-Gang Only - MODERATED] The fucking COVID vax thread (No hat? Fuck off!) on: December 19, 2021, 06:40:17 PM
Another truly tragic COVID-19 casualty. In my family.

45 years old. 6.2 ft tall. Perfectly healthy. Never had any illnesses throughout his life. Was serving in the military (Lieutenant, O-3). As you probably know, military officers regularly undertake medical tests, and his was perfectly clean. Stationed at a weapons research facility, doing research on encrypted network protocols.

Not vaccinated (out of "principle", whatever the FUCK that means). Contracted COVID-19. Fell ill. Within a week he was in ICU. A week later he was dead. DEAD. Got that? DEAD!

A brilliant man, a great military officer and scientist, LOST due to some medieval, dark-ages, Ted Kaczynski-type ideas, circulated for-profit on the internet, claiming that vaccines, medicines, science, technology, are somehow bad for us and we should abstain from them. He leaves behind his wife and two little girls.

Sorry to post this here, but it needs to be heard. If the mods want, they can delete it or move it to Bob's thread. The pain is just too much for me right now. I just had to post this, in the hope that some "anti-vaxxers" out there read it and WAKE THE FUCK UP. I'm not talking about what I've heard, read, or dreamt, this is real life inside my own social circle.

And anyone offended by this post can go fuck themselves, thank you.

My heart goes out to you and your family AlcoHoDL.

Too bad that discussion about a simple medical precaution has become tainted with bullshit politics.
816  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 15, 2021, 11:51:12 PM
If I recall correctly the couple that shot the Japanese student did shout "freeze" several times and he did not stop, and it was after dark.

I remember reading at the time that "freeze" refers to ice cream in japan and that the victim probably thought he was being offered a Halloween treat. It was October 31 and there were Halloween decorations in place. Trick-or-treating is usually done after dark.

There's no mention of this in the Wikipedia article. Unfortunately Wikipedia has become polluted with right/left political bullshit to the point where it's almost useless for anything with even the slightest political overtones. Gun ownership debate definitely has political overtones.
