Lawl. Which taxes exactly did boomers "impose on all of us"? The most evil of taxes, income tax, is centuries old in Britain. Even in the USA, the 16th Amendment is over a century old. The free government spending of the New Deal started long before the boomers were born. Boomers are victims just like everyone else since.
The welfare state. And the fact that your only defense is "lawl" just further reinforces things.

Do you have a reading comprehension issue?

I clearly explained that the welfare state existed long before boomers.

Not to mention, the vast majority of Boomers I have met in my lifetime said that they voted against the raising of taxes (through parties or reps) at every step in their lives. But with such a corrupt political system, they were going to go up regardless.
Then you have not met the vast majority of boomers.

You think you know what the "vast majority of boomers" is? Pardon me if I laugh again.

How many decades have you been observing boomers in how many thousands of localities for you to be an expert on boomers?

It's easier for a boomer to be an expert on snowflakes than for a snowflake to be an expert on boomers.  Cool

Either that, or voting actually does not matter.

Now you're finally starting to make sense.

Good afternoon Bitcoinland. Finally got some internet connectivity after an outage of almost 2 days. The trouble I had connecting to some sites that I posted about 2 days ago was just the start of a total breakdown. No internet means no contact with the outside world here. Thank gawd for large MP4/DivX collections on external SSDs. Thank you Bittorrent.

As it is, I didn't miss much in the world of Bitcoin. After a bit of bouncing, we're still in the mid-$9xxx range... currently $9708USD (Stamp). Can't quote Bitcoinaverage because it's one of the sites I still can't connect to.

Go Bitcoin go.

Jimbo is a boomer. He complains about being lumped in with those "other" boomers of a slightly different age, yet says not a word about the taxes they have imposed on all of us. Boomers are inherently narcissistic. Look elsewhere for answers.

As for boomers being narcissistic, look who's talking. Boomers aren't the ones referred to as "snowflakes".

Boomers were about change: civil rights, the sexual revolution, the peace movement, the counterculture, rebelling against the military industrial complex, etc.

Look elsewhere for scapegoats.

Anyone else having problems connecting to bitcoinwisdom.io or bitstamp.net?

I ran the win7 connectivity troubleshooter and it says I'm properly configured but microsoft.com isn't responding.

I'm able to connect to some sites just fine. I'm assuming it has something to do with my ISP but I can't contact him without leaving the safety of our property, crossing town, and taking a chance that he's home.

I'll try some other price tracking sites.

Good morning Bitcoinland. Missed yesterday due to day-long power outage from Tropical Storm Cristobal. Wind and rain galore. Our backup generators don't help our internet connectivity when the local service provider (a guy named David) has no power.

The price of Bitcoin didn't seem to move though... still in the mid-$9xxx range... currently $9670USD/$12980CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

5 digits soon... please?
_____

As for the new poll, I voted 1-10%.

That's about what I would spend anyway to maintain my comfortable lifestyle.

10% is more than I've already spent in total.

My bitcoins are for holding.

The only ones that should be protected are those victims, aka ordinary people, from the police in the US

If the military should be called in, it should be against rogue law enforcement who answer protests against law enforcement brutality with more law enforcement brutality.

I should never be used against the public, especially protesters.

Individual officers/agents must be identified and personally held accountable. They shouldn't be allowed to hide behind their badges and uniforms.

Don't give us any of that crap about "just following orders". Nuremberg indeed.

The wealthy elites will suffer nil.

#BUYBTC

The new wealthy elites. Hodlers.

Meanwhile: $9888 Stamp.

C'mon 5 digits.
1806  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 04, 2020, 04:35:42 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Bouncing along and creeping up again, I see... currently $9802USD/$13247CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Getting ready for another assault on 5 digits, or $10.5k if you prefer.

Go Bitcoin go.

Well some high profile studies do say that police brutality is linked to the 1033 weapons transfer program. There's a lot more that has been said on this subject over the years, so much so in fact that I find it hard to believe you have not seen the link before.

Earlier this year [article is from 2017], a study conducted by researchers from Harvard, Stanford, Cincinnati, and Gardner‐Webb concluded that the Pentagon’s 1033 weapons transfer program made participating departments more likely to engage in deadly violence. After receiving 1033 gear, departments were more likely to kill civilians as well as dogs.

As for policy, our results suggest that implementing the EO to recall military equipment should result in less violent behavior and subsequently, fewer killings by LEAs. Taken together with work that shows militarization actually leads to more violence against police (Carriere, 2016; Wickes, 2015), the present study suggests demilitarization may secure overall community safety.

I don't think there's much doubt that law enforcement must be demilitarized, except for the use of special weapons in special circumstances with comprehensive investigation and accountability into their use.

Until demilitarization can be accomplished, there at least should be military-level controls on law enforcement violence. There should be Law Enforcement Police, equivalent to Military Police, and Law Enforcement Court Martials to keep law enforcement officers under control. Just as there are no soldier unions to fight the military, there should be no law enforcement unions to fight society.

If law enforcement want military powers, they should be subject to military-level controls.

Stop shilling turd coin Zilliqa. This is a sacred thread, ain't nobody got time for no penny alt.

Of note is that the bart up was with high volume while the bart down was with much smaller volume.

Not sure about that one Jimbo, looks about the same, maybe even more for down.

You're right. It is about the same.

I was looking at the 1 hour candles on Stamp. The bart up was about 6300 coins in the main candle. The main down candle was about 3900 coins. The next down candle eventually passed 4400 coins but it was only part way through when I made my observation.

I stand corrected. They're about the same overall.
1809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 02, 2020, 03:59:17 PM
Well good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we had a classic bart and are right back where we were yesterday in the mid-$9xxx range... currently $9488USD/$12794CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Of note is that the bart up was with high volume while the bart down was with much smaller volume.

Still, the battle for 5 digits could take some time.

Go Bitcoin go.

Could you please advice; what would be a very userfriendly and safe Android app to be used by the less tech savvy
to buy some BTC and keep them in their own wallet on their phone?

While it's best to always keep your bitcoins safe by keeping them in cold storage ("paper" wallets), from time to time it's necessary to temporarily sweep some of them into an electronic device to transfer them.

For this I recommend Mycelium. It is the mobile wallet application used by all of the OTC dealers I deal with.

It's very easy to use and is as secure as any mobile wallet. While it had some issues with iPhone users at one time, those issues have since been resolved. As an Android user, you should have no problems.

It just plain works. I haven't used anything else for years.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still grinding along in the mid-$9000 range... currently $9589USD/$13045CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

C'mon Bitcoin, give us something to take our minds off Covid-19 and the civil war between the American people and their government.

Wall Observer riot time?
Yeah - hold my beer...  This shall not stand

so what are we protesting? or is this just the wanton violence and destruction type of riot with no meaning behind it?

We're protesting in support of our local neighborhood constable Infofront, who has proven himself not to be abusive of his power, but rather a respected member of the community.

Okay. Enough peaceful protest. Let's go loot the Altcoin sub-forum.  Grin
1811  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 01, 2020, 12:47:23 AM
.... the instinctive reaction for the US authorities to put the military on the streets show this has a long way to go. The State is doubling-down on the State-sanctioned violence and oppression that has precipitated and inflamed the crisis, instead of seeking urgent and lasting resolutions inside their own agencies of the State where the problems clearly lie. The parallels with the bungling public health response to the pandemic inside public health state agencies is not coincidental but symptomatic of broad institutional decay and dysfunction.

It wont end until the whole of the militarized apparatus of State oppression is dismantled and scrapped now. The military should only ever be retained for defending against external threats, never turned upon the people who pay their wages, that's the final turn of the vicious spiral into anarchic civil war (suspension of habeas corpus). Police were only ever meant to be Officers of the Peace, never Law Enforcement. After total War the military hands over control of the streets to Officers of the Peace; militarisation of the police and putting military on the streets is naturally escalating society back to wartime conditions.

None of this is unexpected, it has been happening gradually in clear sight for those willing to see, only now it has accelerated to the point when it is plain for all to see. Effectively, USA is already in the early stages of a state of civil war.

Abraham Lincoln spoke of government "of the people, by the people, for the people". This was the ideal of democracy.

It seems it has now become government "against the people, versus the people, over the people". Is this is what American "democracy" has become?

No thinking person is advocating anarchy. Without basic law and order, corporations and other criminals would take over.

We do need community-level policing. The problem is indeed the militarization of what should be a constabulary of local residents. Constables should be known to other local residents on a personal level. Even in big cities, this is possible on a neighborhood-to-neighborhood basis. Constables should display their names with pride.

Military and paramilitary forces should only be used against foreign threats. Unfortunately, the Military-Industrial Complex that Dwight Eisenhower warned about has become too profitable to be sustained by defense and has increasingly relied on offense to keep up the revenues.

Political bribery (lobbying) means that governments are for sale to the highest bidder.
_____

What can be done?

Constitutional changes should outlaw lobbying and limit police use of force.

The military should be be used only for national defense, not for international meddling nor domestic political purposes. Military budgets should be reduced in an orderly fashion so as not to trigger a military takeover. The military should be used domestically primarily to control police excesses.

As I mentioned, Law Enforcement should be replaced with local constabularies with only a basic federal force to keep the police in line.

The whole dirty little system of spying on and keeping files on citizens should be dismantled.

It would be best if this were done peacefully but we all know that more likely those who wield the power now won't give it up without a fight.

An autopsy report talks about "potential intoxicants"?
It's a preliminary report only, the final report is yet to come, presumably with a toxic report.

The coroners report is in, and he died from medical problems in conjunction with drugs, the cop did not kill him.

I see.
1813  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2020, 08:30:15 PM
The autopsy report attributes his death to “being restrained, his underlying health conditions, and any potential intoxicants in his system”

It is an autopsy report.  It is supposed to be based exclusively on medical science.

You cannot attribute as a cause of death something for which there is no evidence.  “Any potential intoxicants” is something for which there is no evidence.   Therefore it cannot be a cause of death.

The autopsy report is fundamentally flawed and part of an attempted cover up.

An autopsy report talks about "potential intoxicants"?

I thought autopsies included blood tests, including intoxicants.

Sounds like a cover-up to me too.

Whether or not the coroner was a willing participant is the question. Coroners can be scared shitless of law enforcement brutality too.

I'm not even thinking about ecological disaster or weather wars at this point. But we still have 6 months left in the year to go. Wonder which one will be next...

Well, lots of months left to go until the U.S. presidential election.

My bets are on at least one or more of the following happening:

1) Jewish person(s) targeted again, because hate crime.

2) Another school shooting.

3) The yearly hurricane destruction of the southeastern U.S.

4) Worldwide coordinated cyber attack.

5) Major oil tanker spill off the coast of a major coastal city and/or ecological wildlife preserve, many billions of $$$ damage. Possibly because of a hurricane.

All engineered by Soros and the Globalists, of course.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for posting that Jojo.

It goes to show that there's always the one good apple in the barrel of rotten ones, the exception to the rule.

More dialogue and less violent confrontation please.

It's time for everyone to start talking about how to clean up and control law enforcement agencies.

no police law enforcement cars to set on fire there. be pretty boring.

Get your terminology straight!

Think "law enforcement state" or "law enforcement brutality".

Thanks Phil.

Wow. Land of the free and home of the brave.

What brave law enforcement officers. They just laid a little freedom on those troublemakers who had the audacity to occupy their own home.
