There already was an antimatter coin..

Antimatter Official Development and Release
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=247585.0

Well that would put a damper on things.... but (I hope) it looks like they have integrated the 'other' antimatter project into Noirbits and dropped the name.

Quote
Integrated with my Noirbits project as NoirTokens, release is early in january. check The Black Watch thread for updates.

Hopefully that means I won't put anyone's nose out of joint by reviving the name antimatter in a different way.

Make it 2x as divisible as bitcoin.

Yeah I was thinking minimum 8 decimal places but perhaps 16 would be even crazier.

make it use negative numbers Cheesy

So if you buy Antimatter you'd own less than when you didn't have any, not bad Cheesy

However the decimal places required are quite a problem it seems.

I'll try to find a solution to that.

The lowest denomination will be called an antiparticle, which will probably be the term used to describe how much of Antimatter you have.

So it would be like Bitcoin being talked about in Satochis.
803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANT] AntiMatter on: January 14, 2014, 06:27:20 PM
Why?

There are already coins like Diamond, Unobtanium (imaginary), Emerald, Gold etc I thought it would be cool to have a coin that is named after the most expensive substance known to mankind.

Physical anti matter has a price tag of $62.5 trillion per gram, not bad Smiley

This is just a bit of fun concept to be honest, but will be treated seriously nonetheless.

I do believe this was tried with 1coin, antimatter is an interesting concept name, but I would most definitely suggest a higher count than a single coin. My two cents, and best of luck

OK, thanks for the feedback.

I wanted it to have just one possible unit because I thought it would be a good representation of the material that it is named after.

very cool name indeed!

Thanks! Smiley

Hopefully we can give the coin a nice theme and feel to it.

Smiley

You got to love this comment from a Mr Spengler.

The problems with virtual currencies:

1) Not convertible to real currency

2) Government authorities can shut them down,
rendering them worthless

3) Possibility for counterfeiting/fraud

The first movers and insiders profit, and the followers are vulnerable.
Kind of reminds you of a chain letter, doesn't it?

Bravo!  Grin

i'm not the smartest guy in the world, and i often feel like i missed a huge opportunity to live the rest of my life without having to worry about money..

but there's nothing i can do, short of maybe travelling to the past in a time machine. all i can do is learn from my mistake of not pursuing a good opportunity when i see one.

stop lamenting on what could have been and start putting your mind on what can be.

You have a second chance if you pick the right alt coins.

They are already seeing greater daily price increases than Bitcoin.

Will I get killed if I say the people organising this are lunatics!

Probably not, but the NSA are probably masturbating to this conversation a bit like in that South Park "Toilet Safety Administration" episode Grin

818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 500 GLD coin giveaway on: November 23, 2013, 01:39:31 PM
WARNING: GLD IS A SCAM

GLD is a scam coin that has been premined and instamined out of existence. The total supply of GLDCoin is currently at around 18 Million after months of mining, however in the first 24 hours over 8 Million coins were generated by the developer and other insiders before GLD was announced to the public. That's half of the total supply being produced on the first day while no one else even knew about it.

GLD is the coin most often given away for free by the same people who premined it and instamined it to death. This is a marketing scheme, it attracts those who are new to bitcoin and cryptocoins in general, who think they are getting something worth value. Don't be fooled, GLD is a scam. It has no value. Spread the word, don't be a puppet.

The people creating alt coins are doing so at their own risk and expense.

There is some kind of weird resentment for people who create something out of nothing, at no cost to anybody else, and then use it as it was meant for, i.e mine it themselves.

Kevin O'Leary from Shark Tank said he invests 5% of his wealth into physical gold.

Perhaps he will chose Goldcoin when/if he decides to jump in!  Grin
