802  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the transaction value fee must be? on: December 13, 2013, 04:16:21 PM
The weird thing is that I guess there is a way to send the inputs only without paying a fee.  Apparently though then there is a chance the transaction won't be processed/picked up byt he miners.  I wonder what will happen when the transactions fee gets to be a lot of money (i.e. transaction fee is .0001 but that costs like $50 in US dollars).  Seems like it will make it so people won't want to buy anything small with BTC because the transaction fee is so large.
803  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Best odds - Instant Withdrawals on: December 12, 2013, 11:26:17 PM
I'm only seeing 1st half bets available for the football game tonight right now.  And if this is only thing available, I'd like to bet one of these and make sure I'm still entered in the 1 BTC contest! Smiley thanks
804  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cryptsy order book wierdness? on: December 12, 2013, 10:49:04 PM
TBH I have never had a problem with Cryptsy but I'm not making fast trades.  The nice thing is that the owners are always around and seem to keep you in the loop as to what's going on, i.e. they are esponsive.  Unlike other sites where you don't know what's up.  The engine is just slow but I've never gotten cheated or anything.
805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Current price ~$850... any reason for it to be going down? on: December 12, 2013, 10:44:23 PM
When the FIdelity IRA news came out I don't think it caused much pop in the BTC price so I don't expect it will hurt it much.  If you look at Gox it looks like it's in a slight downward channel.  Might want to wait and see if it goes down a little further before buying but who knows what news could come up?

As proof I will have the funds you can see I'm in the Primedice sig campaign and, as long as I make a few more posts, I'll be getting .03 from Stunna on 12/17.  Thanks, need ASAP.
Why do you need a loan for less than $1? It's still not guaranteed that you won't run with it, but maybe Primedice could pay directly to the lender.

I just don't have the BTC to enter an event that costs .001.

No, I'm not saying it's collateral.

809  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Without drug trading sites there would be no Bitcoin on: December 12, 2013, 04:39:11 PM
Look what happened to BTC price when SR went down...it went down big.  I think it ended up helping BTC price though because a new SR popped up (didn't it? I'm not sure as I don't involve myself in that stuff) and BTC is used there so now it's like look they can shut down SR and BTC still survives and so will SR so BTC will always have a value.  That's the thinking I mean.
810  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Possible CampBX Hack on: December 12, 2013, 04:33:35 PM
Hi, I just checked my account and everything is still normal.  I assume there was an error of some kind.  What I will say though is that I have taken screenshots of my information on Campbx in case anything goes awry, because it's been so shady lately.
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Here is why QUARK is so hot, so expensive? Read it and think? on: December 12, 2013, 04:19:29 PM
If true what does it matter?

Fact -- Quark is on its way to Litecoin's price.

QRK has more media attention than any other coin except btc.

Get in and make some money. Sit on the sidelines and become a regretter!

Simple choice!

QRK will never be Litecoins price. I've seen zero media attention aside from the Max bit. Just STOP.

I don't know too much about alts but I have barely even heard of Quark...so don't get too excited.  If what OP says is true I think over time, at some point, there'll be a crash because someone sells.

813  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is everyone on ebay completely crazy? on: December 11, 2013, 08:31:31 PM
With the price going so high so fast I bet there is some hysteria around BTC.  You are doing the math, which is good and rational, but sometimes people aren't thinking with their head and they just want to make BTC and don't factor in electricity.  Or maybe they have "free" electricty, I don't know.  Or they might bet the price will continue to rise and that's how they're playing it instead of buying more BTC.
814  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS reply on: December 11, 2013, 08:28:37 PM
Have any body emailed IRS for guidance related to bitcoins?

I did and got a cryptic reply
"Reclassified 12/9, not a capital asset, see Bitcoin using search on IRWeb, Fincen, port0012, HGK"

Will some expert try to decipher it?

I think the IRS person is trying to tell you how to look the answer up yourself.  They're saying use Google and search IRWeb, Fincen, and port0012.  Not sure what port0012 is, that I'm not of.  I imagine HGK is the person's responding's initials.  Not a capital asset I think means you have to pay taxes like any income on the profit.

Wikipedia says I'm right: In some income tax systems (for example, in the United States), gains and losses from capital assets are treated differently than other income. Sale of non-capital assets, such as inventory or stock of goods held for sale, generally is taxed in the same manner as other income.
815  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: URGENT sign the bitcoin petition at the White House's We the People website on: December 11, 2013, 08:22:30 PM
Honestly, although I am in favor of BTC usage, I don't see why the Winklevoss twins should get any special treatment.  Let the SEC review it and act fairly on it.  They shouldn't profit because of the hard work of the BTC community.  I'd rather the money went elsewhere frankly instead of the rich getting richer, even faster if we sign this petition.
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Qt / bitcoind version 0.8.6 released on: December 11, 2013, 05:46:17 PM
I've looked around and can't find an answer regarding transaction fees paid by qt client.  It seems like sometimes it asks for a trnasaction fee and sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it says it's going to be one fee and then it's less when I confirm I want to do it.  Finally I have heard you can do slower transactions for less fee but I can't find how to do this.  Thanks
817  Economy / Marketplace / Re: I will pay 0.3 BTC for an insurance policy against btc-e on: December 11, 2013, 05:38:14 PM
There are a million things wrong with this - start that it's on an internet forum and you're asking someone up put up 250 BTC.  Someone with 250 BTC might want to hire a lawyer for this contract.  Who's to say OP won't attack sit ehimself, and who makes the call and shows the proof that the site is down or you can't withdraw?
818  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: December 11, 2013, 05:04:06 PM
My understanding is that it was expected the Ukrainian President would sign a trade law favorable to the EU but instead signed one favorable to Russia.  There has been a simmering tension I think due to the prior 2 elections where a former presidential candidate was arrested and I think is under arrest or house arrest right now.  so the situation has been precarious for a while.
819  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 1 BTC giveaway - Thursday Night Football - BitBook.biz on: December 11, 2013, 04:31:28 PM
Reminder:
  • In order to enter you must have a BitBook account with a bet of at least 0.001 BTC on the game

does a bet on the moneyline for the game count?  or does it have to be the spread or o/u?

Is anyone getting a bonus or free credit here?  I haven't gotten one and posted like 3 times, I don't know what's up here.
