i'm curious about something. i know when i used to run my p2pool, i'd have, say, 2 or 3 real miners, and about 90 random people on it every day, half with invalid addresses.
do ports ppl were using that left ever close for you? or it may have just been because they still had me as a backup pool? eventually the whole 1000's of sockets being used, i couldnt do anything else (and i had firewall set to max 3 connections as well)

i guess lesson of the day: dont put in "funny" orders when cryptsy is like 3 hours behind, because it also f*cks up and skips all the orders in between you and your sell/buy price

Well, it just got four blocks in 45 minutes with 10mhash, so I guess that cancels out bad luck I was talking about

i have over 100 connections @ nogleg.net & most of the major pools, I think. i changed source for 60 outgoing connections (took about an hr to find that many, with a 180ms timeout) |

So we got pools down, pools that constantly lose connection, pools with missing coins and pools only paying out 20% of correct rewards...yet difficulty is now over 30. WTF is going on?
You'd have to be crazy to be pool mining this so must be some serious solo mining going on.

Because I joined less than 30mn before, I got paid much less. This is normal to avoid pool hoping, I understand that. But after, blocks were found a lot less as the difficulty greatly increased, and people leaved the pool probably for this very reason (from ~80MH/s to currently ~20MH/s). So because I had a great hashrate contribution, I'm still getting paid with the newer blocks found, but as they are less and less common, the payment are farther and farther away one from another. I'm currently at ~1.5M from your pool, so the explanation is a combination luck/payment method/payment interval due to the difficulty increase and the current lack of hashrate on your pool. Everything seems to fit, I apologize for having put in doubt your pool. What probably explains why people are leaving your pool is the fact that you can get paid multiple hours after. Standard PPLNS/PPS/Prop pools are much faster, so if you don't have the tool to check, you can believe in a scam. And because of that, people will really never get paid due to the fact that no new block will ever be found with just a few MH/s yeah, the pool was super lucky for the first... 12 hours or so? now it's been, hmm, I wouldn't say super unlucky, but unlucky for the last 6-8 hours (0 blocks). it should still be getting a block every 3 hrs or so. I just moved my miners off of it to go back to DOGE (it was at .00000080 or w/e), so now maybe it's every 4 hours.. but if I adjusted the settings now, then it'd screw everyone that mined earlier. on the flip side, nobody will want to mine on it if it only solves a block every couple hours and it takes them days to reach full share. with current setting it really needs a block every 30-45m. this problem is also partially due to client not handling difficulty correctly. it's supposed to solve a block every 60s. that's why I set it the way I did This isn't every minute  12/24/13 04:36:42 received block e13d65ca168ac7605d14 from 108.x.x.x:xxxx

Ah, I must now go back to DOGE. It seems like most ppl left my pool & I'll be taking away around 7MH/s when I leave.... so, I'll see what happens. Might take it down tomorrow, may just leave it alone (if some of the same ppl are mining on it that are today), or may reset it back to zero if there are diff people. The block spread is too large & that was set when difficulty was like 200K or something & pool was at 30-40mhash.
the good news is that since cryptsy took 4 hours to process my 1.5m doge deposit, i ended up getting 89 for it instead of 70

p2pool @ nogleg.net:1911 I went ahead and restarted to fix subsidy value. also, it only shows the share value since pool was reset, but it keeps track of the old ones (60 blocks on network, ~1hr) |

i didn't even know you had to do that, I just always set it to nogleg.net:1911the payout #'s it's giving are wrong, but the proportions it shows on the list of users is correct. it's probably an issue w/ the subsidy, but I'm only planning on running the pool for a week or two and it's paying out properly, re: oh, looks like it's 5million now, so I guess I will change the subsidy. since it was set to 10m i guess it was paying out full amounts? about to restart, have to finish fixing fedoracoind source first ed: ok, finished. i think it shows correct values now {

I fixed subsidy value, for some reason I had 2 extra 0's, so it was at 100,000,000 instead of 1,000,000. so the block that was found: Value: 3692650 FDC is entirely inaccurate (as reported @ http://nogleg.net:1911/static/share.html#2808d15905a93f8a4af3d55d16630908b12e26edb1521e51cdf951d0925399e0 ). I sold the card, got myself a 7950 back that was way quieter (dual-cooling setup) and can church out 640kh without too much trouble  In the end I never quite figured it out, although I suspect it might have something to do with the 2gb ram of the system (people mentioned that sometimes getting 4gb fixes issues like mine). Thank you all for the kind help! yeah, I have a 2GB 7850 that i can't get max speed on since the system itself needs more RAM (to raise the thread-concurrency value, i think?) |

i get 315khash on 5830 with 899 core 899 memory, no need for the crazy 950/1250 shit. wouldnt be able to do that with my fanless cards for sure |

Don't waste your time with this. If you gonna do it for fun OK but everything else is waste of time.
pretty much though i guess it lends some credibility to pankkake, so if he decides to create some other damn near useless alt currency, it'd probably have a better chance to get listed on an exchange.. and generate a lot of monies |
