801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Innovative Alternative Crypto Currencies on: December 13, 2013, 03:01:53 PM
I think Devcoin deserves a mention.

After all it is still the only crypto to use receiver files (a key innovation) and the coin has been running very well for a very long time.

We have a lot more solid PR coming up for DVC again very soon too.

Hold on to your hats everyone!

I just signed up and I wanted to ask if I bought less than 1 GHS say 0.35 GHS, it means it will not mine right? Thanks for those who can answer.

No any amount of GHS will start mining straight away - even less than 1 GHS!

Do I have to set up some workers? Because it says that I have ZERO workers. I tried opening it and it seems the link is down.

No if you have the GHS just be patient - it can take 10 minutes or so to get assigned and actually start mining.
808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 13, 2013, 09:40:55 AM
Depending on the size of the marketing fund - we can do as many Press Releases as the budget will allow.

Shouldn't we have soft ready before doing press releases? Can u put that on hold for a while?

Edit: Also it's better to have source code officially open, coz most of trolls ignore the fact that non-obfuscated java binaries r open source actually. With officially open sources they'll have less chances to troll.

Well the donations will decide - as I can hold off until the fund reaches 0.5 BTC

Some media mentions are nothing to be afraid of - regardless of where the coin's at in terms of its development it can only be a good thing for the future of NTX Smiley

Building awareness before the launch of the new client is a great way to start building a buzz about NXT.

How much does the community have to raise?

If we pay him, say, 1M then it's ~5'000 USD. But after his work done this million may be worth 500'000 USD...

approximately 0.5 btc..I am unsure how much that is in nxt

Thanks for the support Ola! Some members of NTX dev team expressed interest in a Press Release but unfortunately until now I had not heard anything else from them.

0.5 BTC to 1 BTC will ensure we can do a massive PR campaign Smiley

The only NXT address we have is on the dgex exchange - where NXT deposits are made manually.

So BTC donations would be best. All BTC will be used to purchase NXT on the dgex exchange - as I want to hold more NXT as well as supporting the project Smiley

BTC address for NXT campaign: 1DhWW2JhTFn1sx8wrMTDPDv6UnDUsbShnk

Once we reach at least 0.5 BTC we can get the ball rolling Smiley

Depending on the size of the marketing fund - we can do as many Press Releases as the budget will allow.

I will update this thread once we have reached 0.5 BTC - and then I will work on writing up the Press Release.
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help promote Sexcoins and make enough money to buy a new car! on: December 12, 2013, 07:13:41 PM
Thank you very much for your interest everyone! The 6000 coins have been given out but you can still win the 20 000 or 40 000. Also, please post your progress here so that I know who is doing what.

I am doing a Press Release which will go out to the Wall Street Journal, Yahoo Finance, Reuters, 500 other online news websites, many Bitcoin news websites, Bitcoin PR Buzz, and more.

If I win the first prize I will also do a second Press Release (which will have the same distribution) as a thank you Smiley

I'll also run a decent cost-per-click campaign to drive traffic to sexcoin.info and help raise awareness.

If I win I will also pay 5 Bitcoin bloggers to write a decent article about SXC - why not.

I will update as soon as it has gone out - in a few days or so - please do not give away all of the coins yet!!

 Wink

P.S You can also see testimonials for the service I provide here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=181318.msg3765639#msg3765639

If I win I will do all of the above extras too!
812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help promote Sexcoins and make enough money to buy a new car! on: December 12, 2013, 02:06:22 PM
I'm in to win it - I think SXC has a bright future due to its industry specific targeting and the great dev team / supporters - I'm going to blow your mind Smiley

Be in touch again in a week or so Smiley

Now this guy look back @ this and think  SadHuh

Hah hah, he might look back and think on it, but he probably won't come back on here and admit he was wrong... BtC is not an "Established commodity"... lots of good that 15 year experience did him... The future bitcoin millionaires did not need his "Good luck", they had something better... and it sure wasn't selling at $159.00...

Maybe OP rebought at $80, so he hoding 2x as much Bitcoins. But I doubt it and I remember the April crash, it was tough to buy at $80 right after the crash

My guess is OP has no stake in BTC anymore.

With the recent news re Wallstreet adoption coming in the next few months things are going to get a little crazy Wink

Does fb not allow urls in pm's? I can't see that Devtome's a threat to anything unless someone's been spamming fb with devtome links?

It was not a url, it was simply 'devtome.com' typed in a message. Devtome urls haven't been recognized by fb for about 6 weeks. Devtome was receiving 1400 - 1500 hits per month from facebook, so that's good traffic, but not spam, although anything could be posted and who would know. Maybe some content has been found offensive to fb and flagged.

I believe in free speech, but if one person is using it as a portal for information about say, drug experiences, is that part of how we wish to be perceived? Certainly devtome has literary standards, but where does one draw the line on content?

Perhaps I am wrong.

If someone has been spamming other people with the Devtome url in PM then FB may have flagged it as spam. Especially if the Devtome url has been sent to many people in unsolicited PM's (FB have really cracked down on spammers sending unsolicited spam PM's to other FB users).

FB is ruthless and will flag anything as spam if it is sent in many, many spam messages to many FB users.

For now we will have to use a url redirection service (there are some which cloak the original url but I can't remember what they're called) - and everyone please do NOT spam random people on FB with the Devtome url!

But do feel free to use a url cloaking / redirection service to responsibly share your content Smiley

This is going to be a real pain when I start setting up the Devtome FB page.

Has anyone had trouble withdrawing NMC, IXC & DVC ? Its taking forever & I do not even see the transaction on the specific blockchains. Interesting enough, my NMC withdrawal email gave me the classic "Invalid confirmation code". The other alt cryptos confirmation emails worked but still 1.5 hours later and nothing. Going to hold off on contacting support, not too worried yet but still the delay is annoying!

No longer a 404 error there guys, in fact there is part two:   http://mentaso.com/bitcoin-news/cex-part-2-the-hacked-account-and-children-playing-grownups.html

I find the article to be extremely accurate in it's detailing of cex.io business practices.

CEX solved the problem and reimbursed his account (and they have now fixed the problem for the future too).

Compared to how things can sometimes go down in the world of BTC - I'd say CEX are doing a great job.
816  Economy / Services / Re: Social Media Management on: December 11, 2013, 06:17:06 PM
Hey this is a great idea for a service - best of luck with it  Wink

I'm actually about to send you a PM about something else too.
817  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ***CEX.IO Cloud mining official page*** on: December 11, 2013, 01:27:08 PM
Everything is fine Smiley

CEX was very prompt in their replies and help.

Now, I really need some sleep ...  Wink

What had happened?

Just everyone make sure to have 2 Factor Authentication on your account NOW and you'll be fine Smiley

If you do not / can't have 2FA I'd recommend withdrawing coins for now - until the current issue is fully resolved.

If you have 2FA you're fine.

I don't want to give too many details, as there is an issue which I am sure CEX is resolving (and they are reimbursing anyone who has been affected too)
818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: December 11, 2013, 04:22:52 AM

The payment isn't as random as it seems - your shares should be spaced out relatively evenly over the 4 000 blocks (roughly 28 days).

I've found it to be incredibly even: the total amount of DVC from the shares divided by the number of days (28), is approximately how many DVC you will receive per day.

Thanks for your clarifications. I think it'll probably become clearer for me as I experience this first round, but it's nice to have a better idea of what to expect.

No problem and welcome Smiley
819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: December 11, 2013, 01:48:03 AM
The link is working for me.  Round 30 will end at block 117,300, which is in about an hour or two.  Shares are paid during the next round, and can be paid at any point during the next round.  Payment date is random, I believe, and individual writers are paid each block.

Also, as soon as you are a "member" (15 activity) the 360 second limit will be lifted.

Odd about the ticker address. I just tried it again in a regular browser, and no-go. Ran it through Tor and it comes through fine. Might be an IP issue. The ticker is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for putting it together. Much easier than trying to pick out numbers at cryptsy or vircurex.

Thanks for your answers to my other questions. I wonder how random payment might affect the value each writer gets with the fluctuating value of DVC (which seems pretty high right now).
