To OP, dispute it thru PayPal first, if you do a chargeback before disputing it through paypal then you lose PayPal protection. If JB isnt scamming, I'm sure he could post more than a snippet of a screenshot that could easily (probably) have been photoshopped.

They "rushed" to accept BTC becasue the CEO said he didn't want anyone else to beat him to it. They said int. acceptance is coming. I just wonder if he knows of some other large retailer/website that was trying to beat him to it...

Great line from the Overstock CEO: "It helps us fight the machine" (big banks/government)

If you paid thru PayPal with a credit card you should be able to do a chargeback. Good luck

I noticed that there were a lot of listings for say 0.1 or 0.01BTC and they were going for a lot more than they would cost on any other exchange. I had the idea to sell small denominations to maximize profit, but I have come to the conclusion that it is not worth the risk.

I think they know of BTC, considering the CEO of PayPal has talked about it in interviews, but their company policy needs to change in order for them to be a good place to exchange BTC. Until their policy changes, any disputes will be decided based upon their existing policy, which states digital delivery goods are not allowed. They claim to have no way to verify delivery, but of course they could easily with Bitcoins. Each party posts the address they are sending from/receiving the BTC, and then verify the BTC went where it should go. No other proof necessary. They said sales of software,mp3's, etc were impossible to verify, so they made the policy to outlaw all digital delivery goods.

I purchased paper wallets that were advertised to have 1 BTC each, but they had 0 each. The person reviewing the case apparently ignored the blockchain information showing absolute proof that the wallets had 0 balance. Don't expect the eBay dispute reviewer to use the blockchain info, or even basic logic when deciding on the case. I am not using eBay & DEFINITELY not PayPal for BTC transactions.

eBay terms seem to be up to the interpretation of the person reviewing the case. I bought a bunch of paper wallets that were supposed to be loaded with 1 BTC each, they had 0 each. When disputing the cases I won 2 of them, but lost the third. The seller knew to claim they were "intangible goods", and apparently the person reviewing the third case said "this item violates PayPal's Acceptable use Policy." The item was clearly not as described, which I easily proved by showing them the blockchain information, but they decided to side with the seller.
The only thing I learned is not to use eBay and especially not PayPal for anything related to bitcoins.

Do these sites even technically need to accept btc? Couldn't they just use a payment processor who takes the btc payment and converts it to usd for the company? I don't see why companies can't do that and sort of indirectly accept bitcoin.

Wow, now I dont feel so bad about getting scammed on eBay.

Ive got 5 1/10th oz gold bars (so 1/2 oz of gold) all sealed in orig packaging, that I would be willing to sell for 0.97BTC shipped. Let me know if you are interested.

Bitcoin. I think the hardest part is getting mainstream places to accept cryptocurrencies as payment, and bitcoin is starting to do that.

I can second this. I had a clearly fraudulent eBay item (a paper wallet that was listed as containing 1 bitcoin but didn't) ruled in favor of the seller because he told them it was an intangible good. Luckily I was still able to do a cc charge back and recover my money.
Anyway, PayPal/eBay are not the place to buy/sell bitcoins, or anything digital. I would not trust buying a gift card from eBay either

Coingig.com
You can get all kinds of things on there: gift cards, electronics, clothing...all kinds of stuff. Never had a problem buying or selling on this site.

Attempting to buy BTC on eBay was the worst BTC choice I made. Just don't do it.

Yeah you can only "Instant Buy" with coinbase if you link a credit card though, Visa only. If you dont have a Visa, I'm not sure you can use their "instant buy." I don't have one, so my purchases always take 4 business days.
And I've also tried to transfer USD into btc-e.com but no luck. I was trying to buy a bunch of LTC when it was around $3. Its gone way up since then. Very frustrating.
