Let's make sure we coordinate with Bholzer. We have such a solid group right now and we bring him in we have the Dream Team

Yep have messaged him and invited to.current dev chats.  Remember he is exceptionally busy, and will express his efforts when he can.  These programming Gods, they are worth their weight in Silk.   Wink

Currently we have 4 websites available for production.

Silkcoin.us
Silkcoin.co
Silk.international
Silkcoin.nl

We have translators for french, german, russian, and possibly chinese.  If i missed any of the translators please remind me.

Ideas for organization of the sites are

Main site
Polling site
Marketplace
Games/appcentre

Looking a the possibility of controlling these sites through the wallet as opposed to running them in the wallet for security reasons.

The main site imho we need right now is the polling site with active. Yes. Trollbox.  There is a place for harsh conversation and even manipulation in crypto. I think that it should go at the doors of the poll booth. Essentially would be constructive as opposed to destructive.

There is much conversation presently taking place about this.
   For options we have

Weighted voting - how.much you hold
Paid voting - how.much you pay
Diminished voting - could be used either with weighted or paid.  The voting right diminishes as the vote cost increases to level the playing field.

Feel free to comment on this topic as it is very important in establishing the voice of the community. We have options to integrate any choice made on this list.

Haha.  Got SILK?
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SILKCOIN][POS][TAKEOVER] on: July 04, 2014, 02:17:26 PM
Changed ANN subject from 'relaunch' to 'takeover' to avoid any confusion.
 Still the same blockchain!

I'm now invested in SilkCoin as well, if you were curious - I purchased 1,000,000 of them - obviously, I believe this coin will be a success and I'm going to do everything I can to help get us there.

This is the most troubling part of bholzer's disappearance - Did he disappear for a few days so the price would continue to fall while he loaded up on cheap coin, knowing as soon as he posted here that the price would jump almost immediately? Kinda seems like he is manipulating the price heavily...

Perhaps leave speculation like this to the wolves... at this point its forward motion.. onward!
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SILKCOIN][POS][RELAUNCH] on: July 04, 2014, 01:56:16 PM

Its a small thing but encouraging nonetheless. Keep it up guys!

There's more where that came from..  Lips sealed

I'm not too sure about the main ANN being self-moderated. I have no serious suspicions myself but It's a red flag for many people as it restricts free speech, among other possible things, so it's not actually beneficial to have in my opinion, even if it makes sense from the viewpoint of an honest Dev team. But everyone is more cautious and trust people less than ever now, so they have little reason to blindly trust this specific case when a red flag is apparent, so many people will turn away without so much as reading the first post and never look back, so that has to be considered if we want the coin to succeed.

The main threads are supposed to be "anything goes". Whatever criticism, chaos, trolling and FUD may take place - all coins have to deal with it, and a strong coin will endure it and come out stronger every time the FUD gets debunked and every time the Dev team delivers their promise. You know what they say - no such thing as bad publicity, even in the cryptocoin world.

It's still early and nothing would be lost if the main ANN was relaunched as unmoderated.
And I suggest a new "Serious discussion" thread be made too, and that should be the self-moderated one. A link to that one should be easily visible on the first post.

Please consider this, I do want SC to succeed.

Understand where you're coming from but to be honest, I didn't grow up playing in punk and metal bands to be the foul swoop of oppression of freedom.  If the mod in this forum turns into oppression, I invite you to draw and quarter me. Now I don't want to be drawn and quartered.  So we should be safe here for a fair and open thread.
The only aim is to not have a garbage heap of a a thread, to stay on topic and stop people from killing each other.
There will be very light moderation - no worries there.
 Grin

Back in the saddle here - some travel-dependent meetings popped up and swept me away for a few days (damn day jobs). Here is a brief update/status/report/etc:

First order of business is that in about 4 hours, Murraycoin will switch to Scrypt-2048 for POW; I need to ensure a smooth transition and take care of any issues that could arise/etc.

After that is handled and any potential fires are put out, I will shift my focus back to SilkCoin. First order of business is that I will need to go back through all of the pages I missed and get caught up. Once I'm caught up on all of the info, I will post an update and let everybody know where we're at on the clients, what all I've done so far, and start getting everybody on the same page. Unfortunately, tomorrow is a holiday and I will have limited time to work. However, we will be sitting good before the weekend is over.

I'd like to close by sincerely apologizing to everybody; I knew you guys would be frustrated with me seemingly falling off the face of the earth for a few days. This week has been insane but, instead of going into detail and explaining the radio silence, I want to focus on moving forward. Between you guys and all of the Murraycoin people I'm sure this week has resulted in a high level of stress (I have 44 unread PMs right now!) but I want to assure you guys we're going to get this thing nailed down together. I'm now invested in SilkCoin as well, if you were curious - I purchased 1,000,000 of them - obviously, I believe this coin will be a success and I'm going to do everything I can to help get us there. I staked my reputation on this, my wallet on this, and you guys put your trust in me - I'm not about to let anybody down. This will certainly be more involved than what I originally thought (everything the previous dev left behind is essentially useless junk) and I thought I'd be killing 2 birds with 1 stone by saving SilkCoin and also creating the most advanced POS code.

Just a few more hurdles here, guys. Also... I'm not sure I will be able to respond to all of the PMs (limited time and want to spend that time developing) but I will try to address all of the questions/concerns/etc publicly  (in this thread) once I get a chance to read through everything.

Hang in there - we're almost back in business.

Onward and upward!

Deadly.  Gods dropping from the sky for SilkCoin.  Wink  Welcome back!
After you're caught up on the thread.  Please continue here.

A formidable team has been created, and everyone will be very excited for you to join the board and dev chat.  The collaboration here that is about to take place is going to be epic.

Everyone prepare for Moon.

Silkcoin Block Explorer

http://silkexplorer.silknetwork.org

New Silkcoin folder updated for quick sync  including nodes
For Newcomers
download and install the silkcoin wallet first
start the wallet for a minute or so then exit
Get the updated files: Download the silkcoin.zip file, it's around 900megs..
Files here On Google Drive

Then use the search feature for windows, and search for %APPDATA%
Once you're there click "Roaming" then goto the Silkcoin dir.
This is the folder where silkcoin wallet keeps the data

Then extract everything over, everything from silkcoin.zip file, into the silkcoin folder you found in the %APPDATA% search. Overwrite all.

Don't delete or play with your wallet.dat file.

PS: You only need to do this in case of trouble, loss of data, no sync wallet, or new to the silkcoin

Good syncing

839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: July 04, 2014, 03:33:36 AM
Was going to release tonite.  But think saturday is a fair equilibrium.  Think people dont realize that 1.0.9.3 is actually a much better client then when silkcoin was at its height.  A lot of sloppy coding in it has been fixed.

If you think your changes were a lot, just wait until you see how much crap I cleaned up in 1.0.9.4!!!
I can see why the other devs walked away.  They were in way over their heads.

Still finding a few minor bugs and there are a lot of cosmetic things I would like to clean up, but right now I'm focused on functionality, stability, and reliability.
I am still hoping to get this released tonight to the members on Trello for additional testing.

I'm very glad to read this.

PS: Also, I'm still waiting for bholzer to show up. He said he would port the wallet to 0.9.2 base. All these together make real progress. Big kudos to all.

There is a slight fear with the new btc client.. not thoroughly tested - if there is a bug in it we'd be fucked..
what we're on now is better for POS and already tried and proven by blackcoin. They have solid dev team with fast response and brings the best of new tech in anyways.
maybe a bit of discussion on this is in order.  Just been brought to my attention about the potential damage if the new btc client has any hidden bugs.

And damnit, I knew I shoulda bought more at 2 or 300 satoshis.  Price is climbing everywhere.

I agreed BC is the safest option for now

Just don't want to have everything blow up in our faces was the theory.
