841  Economy / Economics / Re: 'Cryptocurrency is not legitimate money,' says Nigeria's central bank governor on: February 26, 2021, 10:35:35 AM
Is printing of money a real money?
you are asking the same question as the one in this youtube scene.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkvdAznoFqY
Some of us do know that printed money is made out of paper and ink yet we fail to take our stance against it and we keep using fiat money because... reasons.
That is the matrix we have around us based upon.
842  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ BTCGOSU ⭐ Your Trusted Guide to the Best Bitcoin Casinos ⭐ on: February 26, 2021, 10:30:52 AM
You're right but that is some ongoing work, you can't have it now and for all. So the difference with GOSU and other sites is made by the fact that efialtis is constantly innovating its site. The moment he will stop, competition will eat it.
Don't think is an easy task to be the best, it's a never-ending job!

Maybe this is the third time I feel that I have lost a crypto gambling site in this community that I like, like before about Directbet, Rollin, and now I will really lose Yolodice and maybe there are others but I don't really pay attention to it. These sites are closed at least the same year that Bitcoin will or has gone up to the moon, and that is likely to be something I fear for the future (Bitcoin to the moon scared me to lose more crypto gambling sites Cry).

Anyway, I hope Ethan and Scott, and the team involved can come back with other great ideas in the future, I realize decisions like that are tough ones but I'm sure it's all for the good of all.
I wish all the best for all, Thank you for being in this community for a long time and it is wonderful.
I felt actually the same but the reality which most users don't see is that these platforms require a hell of work under the hood. It's not easy to guarantee 24/7 service, safety of users' funds, etc. I believe they did an amazing job and leaving the floor like this is sad but it gives everyone time to leave YD gracefully.
Truly hope they'll eventually find a way to come back.

Cřbra, the admin of bitcoin.org tweeted this

A while ago Craig threatened to "bankrupt" and "destroy the lives" of developers. Today, some of Bitcoin Core's longest and most talented developers are getting sued by him. He's trying to drive them away, bully them, and ultimately tie them up in nonsense litigation.

Quote
If you hold Bitcoin, you need to seriously start campaigning to get BSV delisted everywhere. And fight back *hard* against this rubbish. If he scares away our best developers, and distracts them with legal rubbish, he's hurting Bitcoin's technical progress.

Quote
We need to make noise, and make sure the people contributing to Bitcoin Core don't get bullied by this man. It won't ever end, the next thing will be patent trolling, or some other kind of legal bullying. Enough is enough. BSV *has* to be removed from every exchange.

CSW truly is rat poison squared.
I wonder how it is not possible to see where it's heading. I am so proud I never touched, not even by mistake, that BSV shit.
Such a small man he is.
846  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-02-24 BlockFi Launching its Bitcoin Trust Fund to compete with Grayscale on: February 25, 2021, 08:41:36 AM
Any fee break from GBTC is a positive, but it isn't enough (most likely) to get people to switch given that capital gains taxes would be due on the sale.  New money would go there and one hopes that the competition would encourage GBTC to match the price.  Competition is good for everyone.
If I recall it correctly it's a mere 0.15% less! One would argue that on big numbers even a tiny 0.15% variation can make a difference but still it is quite high.
GBTC is not like an exchange where I go in and out with ease and I don't see this as an incentive to leave the GBTC boat to go on another fund. We'll see how this plays out.
847  Economy / Economics / Re: 'Cryptocurrency is not legitimate money,' says Nigeria's central bank governor on: February 25, 2021, 08:37:41 AM
When people see bitcoin as a tool to liberate themselves from the rat race and preserve some wealth from the government prying eyes, I wish the best of luck to these Nigerian institutions to find a way to stop the super-massive adoption we are witnessing in countries like Nigeria.
Yellen, in the States, got some similar stance on bitcoin and it looks me they're only barking since there are plenty of legitimate businesses that are based on bitcoin and which pay taxes regularly.
There's a whole economy building up behind the scenes and I'm curious to know if they truly want to stifle these innovations.
848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: February 25, 2021, 08:26:36 AM
Yes Atalanta deserved more than that. They were able to stand Real Madrid attacks with only ten men and it's very sad that because of a referee mistake this game couldn't be played fairly. Ref jeopardized the whole game.
Will Atalanta be able to build from here and get a just revenge in Madrid? That would be great!
849  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: February 24, 2021, 09:02:48 AM
Atlético is looking very fatigued lately and losing while playing home with Chelsea was not that unexpected. Tuchel's Chelsea confirms to have another grip these days and I expect them to be able to reach the final this way.
Lazio Bayern Munich, on the other hand, showed that Bayern can be merciful form time to time as they could well scored another 4 goals. They decided not to beat the dead horse.

Today is a big day for me. Thanks to BTC, and partially to you all here, I am debt-free today. I quit my job, and I paid off ten years of debt, now I own my house and a few acres in the clear.
My wife and I live fairly simply. Old paid-for cars (that I can fix), no cable TeeVee. A large garden and a small shooting range in the back yard.

I quit smoking cigarettes, and DCA that amount into BTC. Doing this payoff burned a big chunk of the corn, but  it is a better thing to do for myself, now. We won't be wealthy, but this is the American dream for me. YMMV.
Can't merit you but these are the stories that resonates the most with me!
Deserved congrats and keep living an healthy life on your very own terms!

851  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-02-24 BlockFi Launching its Bitcoin Trust Fund to compete with Grayscale on: February 24, 2021, 08:45:39 AM
I saw the news already some time ago. What matters here IMHO is that this new Trust will charge investors a fee of 1.75%, and the firm will use custodial services from Fidelity’s crypto arm.
Is this enough to compete with GBTC, the biggest bitcoin conglomerate we have ever witnessed so far? The price isn't that cheap either. We'll see how it goes.
852  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 suspending on 1st March 2021 :-( on: February 24, 2021, 08:36:28 AM
Sad to see YOLOdice close down  Undecided
I never really gambled, but it was a good experience being a (BTC) investor since 2017. I'm excited to see what you end up coming up with when you return!

Here i wonder, is "one" of the reasons you want to suspend the site, the constant complaints / problems, with the high bitcoincoin core fees ?

if yes, why not abandon btc and continue the site with altcoins (ltc, doge, etc). from what i heard just-dice went this way and was successful with it by now (even though clam drops into the cellar, but thats more a coin problem, since it has no say in the cryptosphere).

greetings, whore-ray

I'm guessing the biggest reason is that Ethan wants to shut down is that he doesn't want to deal with the stress of making sure the balances of all investors (BTC bankroll alone was > 100 BTC, or roughly 5 million USD at current rates) are safe. Continuing with altcoins likely wouldn't solve that issue, especially since ETH & LTC are fairly major coins too.
You reminded me the sad story of Safe(!!!)Dice. The owner went missing and disappeared from the scenes and even left the game running: there was an automated wallet re-balance which made deposit and withdrawals still available under some certain thresholds. People kept playing and losing but some were able to get something out. (cold wallet went rogue...)
I once remember some safedicers called a YD a scam. History proved who were the real scammers.
Good luck Ethan and see you around!
853  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ BTCGOSU ⭐ Your Trusted Guide to the Best Bitcoin Casinos ⭐ on: February 24, 2021, 08:30:02 AM
I noticed there is an increasing number of competitors for BTCGOSU. No one is able to reproduce what you put in place but the race is gonna be harder and harder as you are forced to keep innovating your site and offer always greater promos and events.
Well done efialtis, you created a new standard in this environment.
854  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: One Trillion dollars maektcap: How does it escalate technical challenges? on: February 24, 2021, 08:20:19 AM
Interesting thread with many great insights  Wink
In the good old days when I was able to mine bitcoins I felt so fortunate as I could earn a small reward and I could contribute to the safety of the network. This is one of the main reason why paying the fees shouldn't be seen as something bad but that's an integral part of the whole game.

I wish we could be able to mine again and I would argue that  what we need the most is not only technical excellence but also some good strategy because bitcoiners should think of supporting the network again.

It's good to have our own node but since war is coming from the mining side we need to find ways to outnumber the newcomers.
How? I honestly don't know. But I would certainly pay a small crowdsourced sum to know that I support a mining pool which cares about people's privacy.

HoDLsleep. Gotta shut down those lasers. Dreaming of $60k when I wake up (OK, maybe $56k).

Thought the same, don’t wake up to early bro ...
For the first time I must admit I can't stand your hat, actually hating it.

I was trying to win some money again on yolodice and reading this in the chat was quite a thing. I loved this dice site so much, both for its simplicity and for its uniqueness. Only 4 coins, good support, great promos for long-timers etc...
I hope somebody would put some real money on the line and get YOLOdice up and running after March 1st.
857  Economy / Economics / Re: Reserve Bank of India - Most confused financial entity right now! on: February 23, 2021, 08:22:19 AM
A few days back, there was an article in the Mint. It claims that by imposing a hefty penalty over the existing 42.7%, and then forcing existing cryptocurrency users to sell their holdings, the government is expecting a windfall. Things like these would be abhorred in democratic countries and will be termed as wealth confiscation. But in today's India, where authoritarian policies by the ruling party is gaining increasing acceptance, all this will be treated as normal. The users are divided. Some of them want to take the fight to the supreme court. Others want to migrate to other countries which don't have these sort of draconian legislations.
Migrating to countries like Malta would be the best option given how easy and excellent the laws are there regarding the use of Bitcoins and crypto in general and this is why most of the companies are registering in Malta so I hope they can find the right place once India actually implements a ban on crypto.

Imposing taxes on crypto is interesting because if they are going to do so it will mean they are looking at the use of Bitcoins as legal and only then taxes can be collected on their use.

It is such a saddening thing to see a growth of a country in terms of Bitcoins and technology is being cut short because of some corrupt or uneducated leaders who I am sure don't even realize how Bitcoins work and what is blockchain technology. I have a lot of respect for Indian users and members because I work with some and they are really down to earth and work on minimum wages and work their heart out for you.
This is all so wrong, and I'm actually glad I'm not living in India right now. Feeling very close to our fellow Indian bitcoiners because what's happening over there may well happen in so-called democracies: it's only about time you'll see.
Never lose grip on keeping an eye on what your government does because power tends to extend its hand over every aspect of their citizens life.
I know for some is hard to leave the country for a whole lot of reasons but for wealthy bitcoiners that's not an option anymore.

Wallet and keys management, by far,  is the most difficult topic for a bitcoin retail investor. I have to admit that the exchanges of today are not that shit of the past, still those who want to get full advantage of the not your keys, not your coins rule will need to dig deep into the rabbit's hole.
Keys mismanagement could lead to severe losses, make sure you are able to access them in a secure manner and make them redundant to avoid potential single points of failure.
You'll never be too grateful to the time spent learning about how to securely store your keys.
859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest on: February 23, 2021, 08:07:21 AM
Wanting to invest a few bucks and see some potential returns in the future?
Take a snapshot of the top-10 coins (leave bitcoin aside): when these coins go down 5% buy them and when they go up 10% sell them. If you are able to do some bot script to do that for you via APIs then you are all set.
It's indeed risky but you might get fortunate enough.
The top 10 coins are already in the hype now, maybe we should also consider the top 11-20 altcoins since they are also promising and yet still at a cheap price. If the will follow the footsteps of the top coins, we can surely make huge gains as well.

Or we have to look at potential Defi projects, actually, they are plenty of them but we need to study them first before investing, the same thing we do on the top altcoins because not all of them will have the rising trend as mostly we expected once the market in on the Bullish season.
The main thing about that strategy is that you don't have to worry about which crap coin you select as, usually, the always pump & dump in cycles and if you apply the right rules to your trading bot you might well get away with some more btc. I don't care about fiat money here, I only care to get as many BTC as I possibly can.
However, you can consider also the top 50 coins with a monthly volume of >$1m, no less.
860  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 23, 2021, 08:02:49 AM
Rather than BUY bitcoin I'd have preferred if we could have been able to MINE bitcoin.
There's a slight different to it, don't you think.
Only good thing when I buy is that my crap fiat turns into btc. Still getting bitcoin via mining was another league.
