841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Byteball: Blackbytes FAQ on: January 12, 2018, 04:50:51 PM
does anyone know why you sometimes have to send smaller amounts of blackbytes to get through? it doesn't really make a lot of sense to me why more transactions of the same ultimate amount succeed.
842  Economy / Speculation / Re: kodakcoin - new dawn or beginning of the end? on: January 12, 2018, 04:24:04 PM
It was just a way to pump their stock. A lot of companies lately are claiming that "they are getting into crypto" and then they make a fancy press release about how they will innovate their business with an ICO. I've heard they want a token for photography or something, makes no sense to me.

Looks like they are either doing it on purpose to pump their stock (which is working) and exit at a plus before closing, or they are clueless and think there is a case for all these tokens other than pumping them and dumping them for more bitcoin.

the thing is that a real company doing real business really could do something legitimate with crypto. almost all of the stuff swirling around coinmarketcap is put out by nobodies with no plans to do anything real.

if an existing company identified a use for it and then started using it we might get rolling for real. i'm not convinced this is the real deal but it might happen soon.
843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: January 12, 2018, 03:45:30 PM
yeah but nobody fucking buys expensive coins, it is all about price!!!!!

This coin is brilliant but in order to succeed,

tonych has already shot this idea down so it's staying as it is.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ByteBall/comments/7og0x6/update_from_tony_on_5_january_2018_regarding_the/

he's completely wrong about this as the doge and ripple pumps have amply proven, but it's his project and that's that.

is unit bias dumb? yep. it's also a fact.
844  Economy / Speculation / Re: kodakcoin - new dawn or beginning of the end? on: January 12, 2018, 02:50:52 PM

wow. this is some low stuff. if going 'blockchain' will be the quick fix of the future then that's gonna be squashed with extreme prejudice asap.
845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / unit bias on: January 12, 2018, 01:27:23 PM
https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/bitcoin-investment-trust-announces-stock-split-300581752.html

gbtc have just announced they're doing a 91 to 1 stock split. why would they do this? because they operate in the real world and realise real people want to own more small units than one big one.

in all the time i've been in crypto i still haven't seen one crypto project do this, even though it happens all the time in stock markets and we hear constantly from noobs that a coin is 'too expensive' even when the market cap is lower than something with 1000x more units.

every time someone raises this on here most people jump down their throat and say it's unnecessary. maybe it is, but i still think it's helpful and instinctive.

where do you stand on this?
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think market will pump when exchanges open registration again? on: January 12, 2018, 01:21:55 AM
nah. by the time they're on an even keel the market will be lower and all of these noobs only want to buy when coins have reached an all time high. i have zero idea why they're doing it the wrong way around but that's their problem.
847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Debit/Credit Card on: January 11, 2018, 01:36:02 PM
where are you? if you're in the usa then you still have the choice of a coinbase shift card or a bitpay card. if you're somewhere else then right now the best choices have been canned. there are others still going but i don't really trust them.
848  Economy / Speculation / kodakcoin - new dawn or beginning of the end? on: January 11, 2018, 01:31:56 PM
feel free to move but i don't think this belongs in the alt section as it applies to the market as a whole. i've been reading about kodak and its coin today

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-42630136

and it seems to me that this might be final straw ish for regulators. kodak have used crypto to cross infect their stock price and they're now doing an ico. i assume because it's kodak it'll be subject to some type of existing legislation but i'm wondering if this is gonna set off a domino effect or half dead companies using the crypto wave to revitalise themselves.

i would guess that operations like the sec and others would remain hands off as long as crypto remained in its box, but now it isn't. if it's being used to boost stock prices and doing the usual ico trick of taking money and giving back a pointless piece of crap then they're not gonna sit back and let that happen.

are we about to turn a corner where crypto enters big business or is shut out of it to the best of the authorities' ability?

849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TRON SCAM: TRUTH OR FUD...WHAT'S YOUR TAKE? on: January 10, 2018, 10:12:18 PM
Look at the huge amounts of money that whales are pumping into TRX on the exchanges. Whales don't do that unless they see a decent profit on the horizon.

and they don't care how they get it. coins with blockchains that didn't even function got a pump on poloniex before it was delisted. a whale being interested does not mean something has any value. they extract their profits from the little guy and run.
850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TRON SCAM: TRUTH OR FUD...WHAT'S YOUR TAKE? on: January 09, 2018, 11:38:42 PM
This is my first interaction with crypt with real money and hope to not be so dramatically

bye

RIP.
851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TRON SCAM: TRUTH OR FUD...WHAT'S YOUR TAKE? on: January 07, 2018, 10:10:35 PM
this has got to be the most loathsome crypto development so far. some crappy token with zero function reaching these heights is a pure spit in the face to real projects.

if you were this justin sun guy wouldn't you do the same?
852  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: January 06, 2018, 05:57:48 PM
ok..but what about thath??
https://card.mycelium.com/

that has nothing to do with visa. it's a token wallet so it's still cryptocurrency related.
853  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 06, 2018, 03:39:36 PM
You ECB, stop printing all those fancy euros before you call companies that help people save themselves from inflation "crappy"!  Tongue

Seriously, most of the companies that offered cards through Wavecrest have sent out emails to customers saying they will replace the cards (free of charge) as soon as they find a viable partner. I haven't received any such email yet, but it's still the weekend.

i think it's gonna take months or maybe never before they find replacements, especially for gbp cards. wavecrest was the only game in town for a lot of them.
854  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 06, 2018, 03:27:15 PM
Crypto (carding) is done.  Undecided

people with coinbase and american bitpay cards are fine. it's one crappy company being crappy. if a non crappy company shows up then the people who've lost cards will get other ones.
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deposit still pending from block chain to Yobit after 5 days. on: January 06, 2018, 03:01:28 PM
Thank you so much. What is a transaction accelerator?

it's a miner service that takes your transaction and gives it an extra shove. they started off free but now many of them charge extra as everyone's doing it.

i believe the viabtc one does do free ones on the hour but they fill very quickly.

https://viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

if this is your deposit then enter this txid in the box 7fdfcb3f988a621e2bd6d4441e490ec3c6f64e322301ff77b530d58295e68b45
856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deposit still pending from block chain to Yobit after 5 days. on: January 06, 2018, 02:47:59 PM
ok. for future reference your txid is the string at the end - https://blockchain.info/tx/7fdfcb3f988a621e2bd6d4441e490ec3c6f64e322301ff77b530d58295e68b45

your fee is 124 satoshis per byte which isn't stupidly low so i'd wait out the weekend before doing anything else. i've been sending transactions this week with a fee about 20% more and they took about 36 hours.
857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deposit still pending from block chain to Yobit after 5 days. on: January 06, 2018, 02:36:46 PM
can you show us the txid? it'll be inside your wallet and it's the string of characters attached to your transaction.

the most likely thing is that your fee is too low. as it's the weekend it's possible it'll go through as usually activity is lower, but if your fee is really low it may never confirm.
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: UNITED BITCOIN on: January 06, 2018, 02:29:02 PM
So, if you have the private keys to addresses that qualify they are going to credit those addresses with coins and you will be able to access them with their wallet?

i guess that's the idea, but as i said i can't tell whether my addresses have qualified or not and i certainly did everything they listed. we'll have to wait until the end of the month for the big reveal. it's not been very clear.
859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fee Issues on: January 06, 2018, 01:33:31 AM
It prevents spam to a certain extent. In most cases an entity could still spam blocks with low chances of confirming transactions, but even if we know it's a spam transaction, it on the other hand isn't spam at all.

these fee issues solely exist because of mining cartels. anyone who has a very high chance of collecting their own fees, which is bitmain and their buddies, is going to do this. and even if they miss their own fees they've still pushed up the other ones they collect.

if mining worked how it was initially intended to do then threads like this wouldn't exist.
860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fee Issues on: January 06, 2018, 01:20:53 AM
Also Atomic Swaps with LTC which is a direct p2p swap with altcoins have been tested and are being implemented. There's even a new exchange designed for Crypto traders that utilizes atomic swaps to offer super low fees. It's in Beta so DM for invite.

this is the thing about atomic swaps that intrigues me. will it be possible to open a lightning network channel with another coin, switch across, do my bitcoin business, and then swap back to close it?

unless we get a block size increase, lightning network channel openings will quickly fill the main bitcoin chain.
