841  Economy / Reputation / Re: NicNacCoin account has been sold on: June 04, 2023, 09:15:59 AM
Tired, perhaps?
Yes, you have no idea.  And that's also why I'm so effing behind on doing post history reviews, which I feel bad about.

All my whiny BS aside, I'm going to tag homeboy up in this bitch like a pro graffiti artist in NYC circa 1979.  I just need to take a breath.  I've handed out negative trust plenty of times on evidence like this alone.  A change in language quality from good to bad just doesn't happen unless the account changed hands.  If someone could offer up an alternative explanation, I'm all ears.
842  Economy / Reputation / Re: NicNacCoin account has been sold on: June 04, 2023, 08:26:12 AM
OK, come on guys.  Take a look at the quality of English written in this post from 2017 (the thread is locked and I don't know how to quote it properly):

Quote
I am not sure how reliable or accurate the source or information contained within the post is however I can clarify that NicNacCoin had contacted cryptopia to garner support for ForkNote based currency with all that has recently happened within the CryptoNote community that last few days. It was not a resubmission were we paid a listing fee, only to point out that the version of ForkNote daemon and simplewallet v2.0.11 which was delisted due to instability issues on their systems was noted my many experts as being the safest version for any cryptonote to run and to add the fact that our configuration file consisted of no checkpoints which is now also being advised to check for proof of no-double spending exist. We were also made aware that Poloniex was interested into the possibilites of adding a ForkNote based currency to their exchange but not told specifically that it would be NNC.

There are many concerns moving forward in the area of cryptonote currency and we continue to give our best efforts the securing the best platform that we can. We thank all of our supports for their support.

We suggest anyone interested in seeing NNC return to cryptopia submit a written request https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Home/Contact
along with their thoughts and opinions.

And now here's one of the first posts after NicNacCoin's return in 2021:

A successful project has many importants things.. firstly it should have good communication community, trusty team management. If a good communication spreading it's popularity and reputation among the investors then it would have highly possible to success.

OK, how about this one?

Non frangible Token (NFTs) are like as assets like land and home, you can easily get money from NFTs by selling and buying NFTs. NFTs becoming more and more popular day by day . Most of the people are interesting themselves collecting different NFTs.

Now I ask you, the community: which do you think is more likely, that the account was handed over to someone who writes worse English or that NicNacCoin suffered a brain injury in 2017 so severe that when he recovered in 2021 he began writing posts like a typical shitposting bounty hunter?  I'd like to hear NicNacCoin's take on that.
843  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal For DiMarxist on: June 04, 2023, 08:11:31 AM
Those two statements kind of don't jibe.
Of course they don't since you omitted first part of the sentence where I thought that was his only case of plagiarism in which case I wouldn't personally give anyone permanent but instead signature ban but then it was discovered that it wasn't the only case and he was doing it on the regular basis whihc changes things dramatically and was probably the reason why he was perma banned.
Heh?  I'm saying that arguing for any kind of signature ban, even if it's temporary (and I doubt it'd be that short) would drive the member to create a new account to start earning money with--and you acknowledged that the latter half of that statement is true.  So why dole out any signature ban?

Anyway, please forgive me if there's a misunderstanding--it's quite possible, as I was up >24 hours when I wrote that post and have yet to go to sleep.  My mind is foggy and everything is running on autopilot.  It's amazing that I can even type out legible sentences.

By the way, I haven't been looking at too many ban appeal threads lately and don't have a sense of what the mods are doing in the way of punishment for plagiarism.  Are they actually handing out signature bans?  Has anyone received one?
844  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal For DiMarxist on: June 03, 2023, 08:09:21 PM
I would rather see him getting longer signature ban so if he continues being active and prove to a usefeul member of the forum, then to lift it off.
<snip>
I have no doubt that he will create another account and continue with business as usual because for him bitcointalk is nothing but a milking cow.
Those two statements kind of don't jibe.  This guy (like many other forum plagiarists) is here to make money, plain and simple.  If you give him any kind of temporary signature ban, there's little chance he's just going to wait it out or to somehow improve his writing ability.  The main reason these idiots copy/paste other members' content is precisely because they lack writing skills--or they have nothing to say about a given topic but need to make a post anyway.

I'd only support signature bans if they were permanent, but since it's too easy to create new accounts I don't think it makes much of a difference unless the account is of a fairly high rank.  In OP's case a permanent signature ban would likely cause him to abandon his account, and he might have a hard time ranking back up to Full member.  Anyway, given that he's lying here in addition to his original offenses he ought to be permabanned.  IMO now isn't the time to lessen the consequences for stealing other people's words.
845  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Doing scam for Using AI Tool in Signature Campaign on: June 03, 2023, 07:12:01 AM
I just reported a shitposter to Loyse777 who was in one of his capmpaigns, as I'd noticed one of his posts was generic garbage.  When I checked the member's post history I saw that such posts were a pattern of his--and now I'm kind of wondering whether it could have been some kind of AI writing them.

For years on this forum members have been writing very impersonal, general posts about whatever the subject of a thread is about, almost as if the thread title is an exam question to be answered in 125 characters or so.  That's always been the shitposters' MO since they basically don't care about what they're writing and probably don't have any personal anecdotes to share anyway.  But man, now that AI-generated writing has arrived it's pretty damn scary what could happen.
846  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] SINBAD.IO [Mix Your BTC Quickly] Signature Campaign | Up-to $150/w on: June 03, 2023, 07:05:46 AM
Yes, he could be useful despite his age.
LOL, what?  I chuckled at that even though it's probably insulting and I don't even know what you mean by it in the context of sig campaigns.  Thanks for the backhanded slap; I need one every once in a while.

Now the season has ended, we need him for the new season, he is among the best strikers in the market.
What's a 'striker'?
847  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hotbit stops operation on: June 02, 2023, 12:34:12 AM
I mean it should at this point become a thing of scary, the exchange business is speedily on the lane of monopoly. What's the way out?
You are 100% correct--but I would suggest that that's the natural order of things.  Back in the early days of the internet, every business was trying to build their own website to sell their wares and it was a big deal.  Lots of people had their own websites where they'd blog and whatnot.  Compare that to today, where if you want to buy something online you're usually heading to one of the big names, e.g., Amazon, eBay, and the like.  Plus there are so many more examples in real life of consolidation through buyouts and mergers that I've been expecting these little exchanges to get bought out or put out of business by the large exchanges.

As far as Hotbit is concerned, I don't know why exactly they're closing up shop (I haven't read this thread in its entirety, btw) but it's hard to believe they had a userbase of 5 million customers.  That seems extremely high.  And as I said, I confused them with the other exchange which IMO is incompetent.
848  Other / Meta / Re: Are there proper template for ban appeals? on: June 01, 2023, 08:50:51 PM
What would a standard template for a ban appeal look like?  Would there be a line for begging/excuses/lies?  That's what most of them devolve into, and there's not a lot of evidentiary input like there is with a scam accusation.

Besides, most appeals just get ignored for so long that the appellant either gives up and goes away or just comes back with another alt account.  I'm sure Theymos has thought of this already, big-brained brainiac that he is.

Worst Best of luck with your appeal, OP.  Don't forget to heed everything that was told to you so far in this thread, lest you scuttle what little chance you have of getting your account reinstated.
849  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] SINBAD.IO [Mix Your BTC Quickly] Signature Campaign | Up-to $150/w on: June 01, 2023, 06:29:58 PM
Hey Royse777, I just want to let you know that you've got a serious shitposter in this campaign who goes by the name of bettercrypto.  I came across one of his posts in a thread, and it's clear he writes crap and has no idea what he's talking about.

My advice: get rid of him.

Also: if I'm still in your good graces, let me know if you've got any spots available in anything you manage.  Peace out, homie.
850  Economy / Economics / Re: I hear de-dollarsotaion over and over again it's funny on: June 01, 2023, 06:24:57 PM
Their currencies are not like other countries that are fully backed by Gold.
Sorry....what??  What country still has their currency on a gold standard?  Seriously, please name several examples--or at least one.

I think you're talking out of your ass, dude.  Everyone went off the gold standard years ago, and it's not coming back.  Ever.  In fact I'd say the reason the USD is so popular is because of the US's military might and overall reputation.  Not saying it's right, just that it's probably true.

This is the first time I'm hearing of de-dollarization or whatever the hell it's called.  Since I don't watch the news for psychiatric reasons, I'm guessing it's become the latest buzzword in the media?  And even though I'm an American, I couldn't care less if the USD loses any standing in the world.  Our leaders seem hellbent on running the economy into the ground and don't seem to have any sort of plan to undo all the damage that the last three administrations have heaped upon the citizens.  I think a nice credit downgrade would be a wakeup call to the powers that be, but I doubt the ratings agencies have the balls to do it.
851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Monero terminated in Italy, along with other privacy coins on: June 01, 2023, 03:14:21 AM
Well, it's not really possible to regulate privacy coins because of the nature of the txs.
Sure, it's impossible to stop the use of coins like the ones mentioned in OP's announcement, if you eliminate the markets for those coins one by one until they're all gone, who's really going to use them?  As a practical matter, none of those privacy coins are used to buy anything (except maybe on the dark market, but I doubt even there) so with no way to even trade them, I seriously doubt people would want to own them--with perhaps XMR being the exception.  Their community seems pretty hardcore.

This is just Binance, thankfully, even though they're one of the biggest exchanges worldwide.  It's still unfortunate that eliminating cryptocurrencies that offer more privacy than bitcoin seems to be the trend among exchanges.  I did notice that Kucoin no longer lists PIVX, though I'm not sure about any of the others.
852  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hotbit stops operation on: June 01, 2023, 01:07:09 AM
Yea, Hotbit got a lot of negative reviews. I have never used them. Their assets were even frozen some time last year.
Ive never heard of an exchange like "HITbit". Maybe you mean "HitBTC".
Yeah, my bad.  And oddly enough, I happened to stumble across what I think confused me in the first place:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/curecoin/markets  **Ah, shit.  I thought imgur still worked and was going to post a pic.  Guess I'll have to register on one of the alternatives**

I said it was some random shitcoin that traded there, but while Curecoin might be a lousy coin the way it's mined (sort of like Gridcoin) is useful for science.  Anyway, if you look at the screenshot you can see one of the major problems when a small exchange goes out of business, i.e., some coins might only be traded there and if you eliminate the entire marketplace you're stuck with a coin and no place to trade it.

OTOH, Coinmarketcap doesn't acknowledge every single exchange out there.  CURE is actually listed on Altquick.com, which is owned by BayAreaCoins (or was last I knew) but you'd never know that if you just went by CMC's info.

Anyhow, thanks for the correction; it was HitBTC I was thinking of.
853  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinbase Collusion???? on: June 01, 2023, 12:18:01 AM
Coinbase's operations as far as their customers are concerned is a big black box of secrets, and they're not going to tell anyone why their account/funds/whatever was frozen.  That's happened to me, and it's happened to a lot of people from what I've read over the years in the scam accusation section.  Even though I don't think they're colluding with anyone in this instance (they're under way too much scrutiny right now to be doing anything of the sort), the fact that they did what they did isn't surprising to me.  They've proven to have a very quick trigger finger when it comes to pressing the nuke button for customer accounts.

In other words, Coinbase's actions probably have nothing to do with anything you did if you really got scammed and everything to do with them going above and beyond trying to comply with regulators.  They don't want anything to do with various entities that their customers either got or send their coins to, so they'll screw you at the drop of a hat.
854  Other / Meta / Re: Totally made up story on the gambling section that I want to analyze. on: May 30, 2023, 07:32:48 PM
Sometime there are many useless thread in gambling section.
That's got to be a candidate for understatement of the year, my man.

I skimmed through the OP of the thread in question, but my mind went fuzzy as soon as Fivestar4everMVP started relating the details of whatever went on with his supposed friend.  The English is bad, and I just don't care to read shit like that if I don't have to.  But Poker Player, you called him out in that thread, and it didn't go unnoticed.  If this were some serious BS that had negative implications for the community or something similar I'd say definitely start up a new thread in Reputation to discuss it.  However, Fivestar4everMVP's post just seems to be a whole bunch of bloated blather, no doubt to earn some money in the stake.com campaign and perhaps some merits (which he did).  IMO it's basically just a shitpost, and shitposts--whether made up stories or not--don't need threads of their own.

Good job blowtorching his ass for being a fibber, though.
855  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [List] Instant exchanges on: May 30, 2023, 02:06:58 PM
It's not going to be an aggregator. I was actually thinking of maybe a combination of both sites so basically:
Wait a sec....I could swear there is an aggregator out there for instant exchanges but for the life of me I can't remember what the url is or even if I was hallucinating it.  But I was on some shitcoin's website and was browsing the exchange section, which had a bunch of instant exchanges of which I visited a few just for the hell of it.  I could have sworn one of them compared all the rates of the most popular ones.

I'm not sure a new site is needed for this or not, but I do think these kinds of exchanges might become more popular as everything moves toward KYC.  Somehow the swap exchanges have avoided that, though I'm not sure how or if it'll continue, but they're definitely convenient if you just want to do an trade without the hassle of registering on one of the traditional exchanges.
856  Other / Meta / Re: DdmrDdmr is surprising for meriting posts on: May 30, 2023, 12:14:07 AM
@DdmrDdmr, has talked and told a lot in his own thread, entitled: 1221 posts merited (by me) in just under 21 minutes–What's got over me? (v 36.0).<snip>
I didn't read through that other thread, but I saw the amount of merits he was handing out and the time frame in which he was doing it, and I just quickly assumed that he was doing it via a script.  I've handed out tons of merits in a short period of time whilst doing post history reviews, but I think it'd be pretty obvious to anyone looking at my merit-giving history that that was exactly what I was doing.

On the other hand, looking at DmdrDmdr's meriting history would present a puzzle to me if I didn't think he was doing it automatically--unless he was some super-human meriting machine with a brain like a high-end GPU.

But hey, that's how he stays on top of the list of merit-givers.  As long as nobody has any beefs about who he's meriting and for which posts, I say keep on keeping on, you know?
857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A quick reminder on how to get full information about your account using BPIP on: May 29, 2023, 09:17:49 PM
https://bpip.org is a website that every member should access and know how to use. It contains more than just merit history because it deals with many information about every member of the forum.
This is true for the most part, but the only statistic I question the validity of is the "most recognized" one.  I absolutely refuse to believe that I'm the 9th most recognized member out of the millions of registered accounts.  It isn't the number I question but Vod's algorithm used to generate it--it might have been the best way to quantify forum recognition when he came up with it, but if I'm that high up on the list then something's wrong.

Aside from that, it's extremely useful if you're tracking your stats on bitcointalk and I am glad that Vod created it before he left the forum.  Is suchmoon doing any updates or coding work on it?  If I'm not mistaken, Vod left the website in suchmoon's hands but for some reason I'm never 100% certain about that.
858  Economy / Reputation / Re: After Chipmixer, Is Sinbad.io Next To Be Shutdown? on: May 29, 2023, 08:18:18 PM
It is inevitable that most if not all mixers will be used for (or will be attempted to be used by criminals for) nefarious purposes
Then why did you join the signature campaign of one of the mixers? No offence, I am just asking because I think you shouldn't join advertising what you think are used by criminals.
Eh, JollyGood is just asking a general question that's probably on the minds of quite a few members here, and as far as criminals using any mixer service....that's similar to the argument that bitcoin or [name your cryptocurrency] is/has been used for illicit purposes and therefore is bad.  It's a silly argument against crypto, and if it were valid then fiat should be bad as well as all guns, knives, and anything you can think of that's been the tool of criminals.

Who knows what the government is going to go after and with what amount of resources?  It seems as though all things crypto are under the microscope at the moment but that could change.  I do hope there are some powerful bitcoiners with political influence lobbying for us, because the little guys like myself can't really do much of anything to sway those politicians looking to criminalize mixers and whatever else.
859  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1000 post in 16 days on: May 27, 2023, 10:53:53 PM
As for post reviews, it’s quite unorthodox to ask for a post review this way as there are merit threads on Meta and B&H but I have seen a few others do the same and got what they wanted.
It is indeed, and I'd even go so far as to call this thread a blatant attempt to earn some merits.  And even if that isn't true, OP is in a signature campaign, and the only valid reason he'd be asking for advice on how to improve his posts is to earn more merits and thus rank up and earn more money by having more sig space.

But hey, I'm cynical.  I'm not going to congratulate OP on making 1000 posts, because I've never congratulated anyone for making a certain number of posts, and unless it's an extremely large number....what's the big deal?  All of these self-congratulatory threads are really starting to get under my skin.

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?
Answer: I have never read any Bitcoin book until today nor will I read in the future. But I have watched several videos about Bitcoin on YouTube and sometimes I have also searched about Bitcoin on Google.
Tsk, tsk.  I've heard similar statements from what I assume are people younger than me.  Don't people read books anymore?  I get that Youtube videos are entertaining, but there's so much BS there that the useful stuff gets buried under an avalanche of professional Youtubers who work the algorithm like pros.  And I say this because there are quite a few good books about bitcoin that are worth reading, and they contain info that you would not easily find by watching videos or doing searches.

In any case, I enjoyed reading your answers, nlovric.  Your username doesn't ring a bell with me, so this is a good way to get to know something about you.
