861  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Good site to buy Bitcoins with debit/credit card? on: March 23, 2015, 11:59:14 PM
I haven't been bought any BTC with credit card for ages, but jesus christ I do hope there is a better alternative than what I used back in the day (Virwox). These guys scammed me hard with their fees.
862  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How/where to earn bitcoins? (not faucets) on: March 18, 2015, 07:22:48 PM
There are many ways and even threads in the forum itself to earn Bitcoins, just search. Smiley

1. Signature Campaign.
2. PTC sites which allow payments in BTC.
3. Micro tasks.
4. Purchase them (instead of earning). Wink

are ptc sites really worth it? i find the rates quite low to be honest, or maybe i used the wrong site.
which one do you think is the best and works with bitcoin?
I have never seen a PTC website for Bitcoin that was profitable, or not any more profitable than your average bitcoin faucet. A way to make bitcoins that isn't a sig campaing is MTurk in Amazon, i think there is a way to convert your pay in BTC directly.
863  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help my transaction stuck for 10 days on: March 18, 2015, 07:21:13 PM
I had made a tx with blockchain.info wallet and it don't confirm in 10 days (it is not double spend, paying 1 satoshi fee) and I can't use the coins now. What can I do?
1 satoshi fee?
As far as I know, the mini fee is 1000 satoshi.
1 satoshi fee?=no fee at current.

There isn't actually a thing called "minimum fee" but there are "recommended fee". The least amount you could ever use is 0BTC. FYI:  546 satoshis is dust limit and a transaction shouldn't include less that that and using a fee less than 546 satoshi isn't a good idea than using 0 satoshis. I maybe wrong though.
AFAIK, a transaction must have all outputs above 5460 Satoshi to be considered as a non dust and have nodes relay it. If it's below that, nodes would simply not relay it. There are nodes which relays it but for nodes using Bitcoin Core, they don't. It is generally a bad idea to use 0 fees for anything below 0.1BTC since the priority would be so low that it would take a long time to confirm.
What I don't get is: Why do wallets give you the ability to spend 1 satoshi as a fee or even 0 as a fee? If the transaction is going to get stuck, why not stablish a minimum fee that guarantes this not to happen? coz noobs will always tend to look for free shit, and will always pay no fees and think everything is fine, then shit like OP happens...
864  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Protonmail accepts Bitcoin - Keep your email private ;-> on: March 18, 2015, 07:18:00 PM
Protonmail is an email provider that attempts to keep your email private. They are based in Switzerland and do not have to adhere to disclosure laws like the other service providers based in other countries. {They have their own laws}

They are accepting donations to expand and grow their services to accept more accounts in future.

https://blockchain.info/address/1Q1nhq1NbxPYAbw1BppwKbCqg58ZqMb9A8?filter=2

https://protonmail.ch/

They have reached capacity but donations will keep them going to protect your email privacy.

If you know of any other email service providers with this goal, please share with us.

If they accept Bitcoin donations, we will support them, because our privacy is important to us.

Looks good, thanks for the heads up op, always nice to know safe ways to have a god damn email those days, something difficult. For now registration is closed tho.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: July 2002: Welcome to the radian economy: I had a dream: Decentralized currency on: March 18, 2015, 07:16:03 PM

So Bitcoin and its decentralized feature is actually not Satoshi's idea? It's 2002 when this was posted, 7 years before Bitcoin was invented. Amazing.

Cypherpunks were dreaming of this long before 2002: more like 1990's.
Yeah there are a lot of people quoted by talking about decentralized methods of payment, like David Irvine for example, back in 2004 or so.
866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust yourself to manage your own private keys? on: March 18, 2015, 07:14:20 PM
Criticism often comes to online wallet providers (Xapo, Coinbase, etc) saying, if you don't own your private keys, you don't actually own your bitcoin. On the other hand, if your cash is in a traditional bank, you don't really own your cash either. The only possible difference, traditional banks have been around longer, and more people trust them. Many bitcoin users who criticize bitcoin vaults, store their cash in a traditional bank. Hypothetically, if Bank of America, or Barclay, or DeustcheBank announced they've invested millions into a highly protected, advanced, security architecture, would you trust someone to store it then? I personally don't trust myself to store my own bitcoin, for now. That could change in the future, but right now, I'm not a fan of the options, as the technology depends too much on my ability to maintain hardware, or, not lose something. I think about pictures, movies, files, documents, I had on my computer 10 years ago (and I always backed up), and I probably couldn't retrieve a single one without relying on a cloud-based service (Facebook, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.). I have no idea where the original photos of my trip to Indonesia in 2008 are, but I know that album is still easily accessible on Facebook. Are critics right to say, don't use an online wallet provider, it's not safe?
I think there is a legit market for "bitcoin banks" specially if you can make interest out of your holdings, but a lot of people are into bitcoin precisely because they want to be their own bank, but yeah you can fuck up big time if you lose your wallet.
867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STAHP USING ONLINE EXCHANGES/WALLETS on: March 18, 2015, 07:12:06 PM
I'm about sick and tired of hearing everyone's sob stories about how they lost their coins in an online exchange incident. THE WHOLE DAMN POINT of bitcoin was to cut out the middle man and prevent anyone but you from tampering with your money.

Stop using online exchanges...

You are the reason you lost your coins.
You are the reason as to why people believe bitcoin is failing.
You are the reason why bitcoin gains negative publicity.
You are [part of] the reason why bitcoin has lost a lot of value.
You are the reason why bitcoin is so extremely volatile.

Stop using online exchanges...

There has -never- been a successful attack on the bitcoin protocol (ie: wallet bruteforcing), but there have been -countless- successful attacks on online exchanges and wallets. Lets do the math: (insert common sense here). Done!

Stop using online exchanges...
Stop using online exchanges...
STAHP USING ONLINE EXCHANGES!!!

Thanks and ood luck brother, exchanges are looked at as banks.

After you're done at the casino, do you leave all your chips at the table?

No, of course not, if you do, you're an idiot and deserve to lose it.

I have no pity for stupid people, none whatsoever, do your homework, ya lazy greedy fucks.

Someone's willing to go to hell so you go broke, it happens a lot... good people, we don't go around expecting to be deceived...

In the financial markets, assume everyone is out to swindle you.

Day traders need to assume the risk, it's part of the occupation; don't put ALL you coin there either, save some in case you lose it all.

A few years ago I made a post saying not to keep their coin in exchanges and to use the Bitcoin Core.

Then I was called a jerk, a nut case, a freak, what have ya for speaking against exchanges and the Blockchain.info wallet.

By whom?  I figure were their respective owners or remote controlled idiots.

Few weeks later, 2-3 few exchanges went down... I told everyone, no one wanted to listen, too fucking bad for them.

I day trade but I don't leave my coin overnight unless I really want a certain price; but I assume the risk when I do.

I also run the core; guess who never lost one single Satoshi?  Myself including a lot of other clever coiners.

Then stupid sheeple be asking, oh please IMF, protect our exchanges!!  Inject our network with fake money!!

The core is slow but safe... cashing out every time you're done your day nearly guarantees you won't lose your coin whilst you are sleeping.

That is my greatest fear, or better yet, spend your BTC on AltCoins instead, there's never been a great MazaCoin or DigiByte heist there lol.

Yeah sounds asinine but get the hint.

Day trading requires taking advantage of big pumps and dumps that can happen ANY TIME at any market (any altcoin). So if you have to move your coins from the exchange to the wallet everytime, you are getting nowhere. The confirmation time is way too high to be quick enough.
868  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinapult Claims $40k Lost in Hot Wallet Compromise on: March 18, 2015, 07:09:06 PM
LOL when will these dumbass exchanges stop running hot wallets?!
I dont know, theres also the possibility that they are doing it on purpose to keep getting away with scamming tons of bitcoin from poor uninformed people.
869  Economy / Speculation / Re: When Will The Uptrend End on: March 13, 2015, 12:40:27 AM
The uptrend will trend when the bitcoin price stabilizes at an uniminaginable high price. Until then everything is percieved as up or downs but in reality years from now it will be clear Bitcoin only appreciated yearly.
870  Economy / Speculation / Re: My strategy - buy and spend on: March 13, 2015, 12:39:17 AM
Op. It seems that your general idea is just to use bitcoin on daily basis and I can agree with you. The problem of this solution is however volatile bitcoin nature. As you may know not that long ago bitcoin price was just about around $200 now we are almost at $300. For many people who remember 'old' higer bitcoin price this is unacceptable to spend bitcoin now.
Thats why I treat bitcoin like gold and I wouldn't go around doing groceries and having a cup of coffe paying with gold. I'll let these damn whales do the spending for now, when the price stabilizes at 100K i'll do some shopping.
871  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Keybase.io work?? on: March 13, 2015, 12:37:49 AM
It's a nice place to store all of your official links so to speak, signed with PGP and you can add your BTC addy.
872  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Domain Ideas on: March 13, 2015, 12:36:59 AM
Dude, don't buy up domain names if you don't need them. Some guy or gal may have a business that could use a domain name that you've bought and while you're slowing down their productive activities, they're being slowed down by your greedy hobby.

You're the equivalent of pop ads...don't do it. Don't waste domain names. It's a really shitty move. You're a squatter.
Lol. If you bought domain names back in 1993 you would be a millonaire now and not complaining about it.
It's called speculating.
873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For all the China ban Bitcoin over the years, reality couldn't be more different on: March 12, 2015, 11:55:21 PM
Since Bitcoin's been in existence, there's always been a love/hate relationship when it comes to China.  China has all the mining farms and manufacturers, PBOC trying to halt all exchange withdrawals.  China has tons of ATMs and OKCoin, Huobi, and BTCCHina exchanges, PBOC issues shut down of all banks linked to Bitcoin exchanges.

For all this threats and banter and general FUD, this is the real cold hard facts and "truth" about China.

About 80% of all Bitcoin exchange value is driven by Chinese Yuan:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/102497909

China/PBOC isn't trying to ban it, they're trying to "regulate" it somehow...

So although Bitcoin isn't going to replace the Yuan or Renminbi anytime soon, they sure like to trade the F#ck out of it...

It's funny how its one of the few countries that show up as "regulated" in terms of bitcoin, yet its one of the leading ones in use.
874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF ... SWIFT only capable of 15 Millions of transactions per day ? on: March 12, 2015, 11:54:10 PM
Quote
According to the SWIFT itself, they link over 9,000 financial institutions worldwide in over 200 countries, which transact 15 million times per day.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-03-12/wests-plan-drop-russia-swift-hilariously-backfire

Bitcoin network, in his actual form, can process 604 000 transactions per day. Grin
And like you known, stats of the banking system is not very "mathematic" ... when they talk about 15M ...  Roll Eyes
Isn't this a problem? if we aim to surpass the main transaction system, we'll need a lot more than 600k...
875  Economy / Speculation / Re: More volume and positive trend line : RETURN OF THE BULL MARKET ! on: March 06, 2015, 11:56:15 PM
It does seem like most people around here, besides the trolls, have a very positive outlook for the future going forward. Sure is nice to have that disgrace, known as 2014, behind us. But yeah, lots of great developments occurred last year so it'll start to pay off coming up here. Should be good times ahead.
2014 was amazing if you look at it from the positive side.
1) Posibility for visionary noobs to stack at least an entire BTC without being mission impossible
2) It will show Bitcoin's resilience. Once we get back on track and Bitcoin shows the strenght to survive a terrible crash, if the price starts going down again after a big recovery people will think about it twice before calling a game over.
876  Economy / Economics / Re: I need bitcoin to be $690 to break even.....will I make it? on: March 06, 2015, 11:54:04 PM
Out of curiosity, how much did you invest?

~$26K

Here's my prediction. One of the two will happen by the end of the year:

- Bitcoin will be under $100
- Bitcoin will be over $1000

There's no place in between.

That's what I think too, so I could cost avg down more but I don't want to risk any more money than I already have

Im sorry but i have to scratch that out for you, since there is no logical or techical indication that bitcoin could go to or about 100$, there is simply too much support under the 200 line to allow it.
And what makes you believe that bitcoin will go above 1k $ this year ?
You obviously got this wrong, since the price to all logical and technical guidelines actually does belong in between. for this year to be more precise. And by next years end is definetly time
for op to break even, few months before halving.

cheers

We've seen you can't apply classic logic to the bitcoin price. Trying to predict this is like trying to predict the weather. But indeed there seems to be big ass support in 200 area, even tho rallys can happen both ways and no one can predict when the price decides to crash harder or go ape shit reaching a new ATH.
877  Economy / Economics / Re: Machines and money on: March 06, 2015, 11:51:00 PM
Human fighting for survival against computers is not pure science fiction. Computers are an integral part of our lives now. They can cause catastrophic disasters if they malfunction or infected by a sleeper virus. We are not at the stage where AI can think on it's own, we could be in a few decades.

Imagine we get to a point where a robot society could live side by side with us through artificial intelligence. It could be both catastrophic or the best thing to ever happen to us.

I want it to live with a robot run by AI that I can treat like any other normal human being. With that said, I'm hoping for a Utopian future together with machines.
You wouldn't like that. If a person goes crazy you have a decent chance to fight him and protect yourself. If a 300kg robot, that doesn't feel pain, goes crazy you can only hide and pray.

But I still want to experience that! Haha jk. If that scenario could be prevented, that will be nice.
Well not live to see true AI... true AI is something too insane to think off within today's knowledge, I think we aren't even close. But things are getting scary with robots, look at the Petman darpa robot.
878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoiners are Mentally Ill? on: March 06, 2015, 11:49:40 PM
If Bitcoin makes a person mentally ill, count me in as crazy for cocoa puffs!

Then again, one could make the argument I was deranged before Crypto took a hold of me.   Cheesy
To be honest we are all seen as mentally ill, derranged, delusional individual to the outside world, just like every other pioneer in history ever. Since when was being a pioneer an easy job? Smiley
879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bryce Weiner attempted to tip ISIS!? on: March 06, 2015, 11:48:13 PM
Has anyone noticed, it's always people with the B.W initials that do stupid/bad things? Bruce Wagner, Burt Wagner, now this guy.
Brian Warner:

This evil musician inspired the Columbine nutjobs!

PS: Joking.
880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptonote: More Bitcoin Than Bitcoin on: March 06, 2015, 11:46:00 PM
Crypto note seems really promising, I'm gonna keep an eye on it for a while, mabey it will create a good coin one day.
I've been following this project since the begining when the Bytecoin vs Monero controversy started. For now its clear Monero is the leading cryptonote coin. As far as I know a solid gui hasn't been released yet. Anyone knows when it will be done??
