862  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-04-12] bitcoin’s Australian exchanges speed new guidelines on: April 12, 2016, 04:18:20 AM
Bitcoin and other digital currencies promised to bring a new transparency to trading and do away with some of the risks which have plagued more traditional asset classes.

However, the Australian digital currency industry is now in the rather ‘old school’ position of having to rush through tougher guidelines as customers of the Australian bitcoin exchange Igot seek refunds for money they say they are owed.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported on Monday night that Igot appeared to be on the verge of collapse, with dozens of clients and customers claiming to be owed hundreds of thousands of dollars. The company buys and sells bitcoins for its customers and stands accused of being unable to completely deliver on trades or refund money received. Its owner Rick Day has reportedly admitted that he was struggling to pay customers, but denied that their money was lost.

864  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: April 07, 2016, 01:15:06 AM
I think I'll not quite my job just to get paid by Bitcoins. Because, I cannot use Bitcoin wherever I want just because, lack of merchants here.

you do not need to worry if you are cant using bitcoin wherever, simple you just exchange it to fiat money and you can use what you want.

Like in our country you can exchange it almost instantly. And you can withdraw it in an atm. So you do not need to worry about how or where you can use bitcoin. You should consider if you have enough bitcoin opportunities to earn more than your day job. If you earn less or just as much amount of money as your day job, don't quit. Just use bitcoin as an extra income.

it's good idea for make bitcoin as side job, as an extra income. im use it too . i have real job and im earning some amount from bitcoin so i get 2 salary. but sometimes im booring with my realjob, i have plan to quit my realjob and focus at bitcoin, hope i can do it in next year.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS BETTER THAN WESTERN UNION ? on: April 07, 2016, 01:10:43 AM
WU is history

Use bitcoins to enjoy much more benefits with lowest transaction costs, the day I have started to use bitcoin I haven't entered the doorstep of WU.

*Looks at Western Union*
*Looks at Bitcoin*

20 years later...

Bitcoin is $2000 apiece, and TX fees are 0.002 after so many halvings.

 Cool Still cheaper then WU.

i think in future we will find new cooding, like clasic wallet, so we can still transfer bitcoin with lower fee, maybe we can send 1mb with fee only 50satoshi  Cheesy Grin

^ yep.

i have the exchange admins in my contacts. same for pool owners. they are the first people i contact whenever an update it made.

for those of you in irc, steam, i2prc, and now slack, we have a bot that posts in the room whenever a change is made to the source code, along with a link that will take you to the commit and show you exactly what was changed, along with a description i (usually) enter..

when im done testing, the exchanges and pools will be notified (possibly within the next couple of hours)

then i will compile wallets and replace them on our website, and post them for everyone. i will also make a post here the moment after i gave the green light to the exchanges to update =]

can you share some screenshoot of new wallet..?

According to Brave, “The Brave Ledger makes a transfer of the user revenue share to your Brave wallet! You have two choices: you can “donate” the funds to your favorite sites (this is the automated default); or you can transfer the funds to another Bitcoin wallet and spend them yourself.”

868  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-04-06] Barclays backs 'social payments app' Circle as it launches in UK on: April 06, 2016, 04:14:38 AM
LONDON (Reuters) - Barclays has become the first big British bank to form a partnership with a digital currency firm, social payments app Circle, which runs partly on bitcoin's blockchain network and launched in the UK on Wednesday.

In what Britain's Treasury called a "major milestone" in its push to make the UK the world's capital for financial technology, or fintech, Circle was granted an e-money license by the Financial Conduct Authority, the UK watchdog - another first for a digital currency company.

869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: April 06, 2016, 04:04:29 AM
Yes I'm holding for a price increase because the halving is coming this year and it will most likely be very sweet if you look at the speculations.
I think its just a matter of time before this will happen and its not just a feeling its almost proven and that is already difficult because the bitcoin is unpredictable.

Bitcoin is unpredictable for sure but price will be good at the time of halving, it will be better then what we are seeing at a moment so hold it now and sell at the time of halving.

most of bitcoin user sure price will be up after halving done, and i believe it too. the reduce reward make bitcoin supply limited, and could make bitcoin price up.
870  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WalletExplorer Stopped Working ? on: April 06, 2016, 03:38:58 AM
I am able to access walletexplorer.com just fine.

As far as an alternate "wallet explorer" there really is not one (although the creator of wallet explorer works for chainalysis.com which is a paid site), and you really will need to "manually" spend-link addresses together (although you could automate this process in theory)

me too https://www.walletexplorer.com/ Bitcoin block explorer with address grouping and wallet labeling

No problem

i think OP can lock this thread now

872  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do you buy Bitcoins? on: April 06, 2016, 03:04:15 AM
I buy bitcoin as for :

My investment
I'm spend my 10% from my monthly salary to buy bitcoin since I treat it just like I'm investing on gold

For Trading

I'm purchase bitcoin for trading altcoin. I'm have make some profit by trading ETH about BTC 0.05

My bussiness
I use bitcoin for my transaction mobility as I can speed my transaction for my online shop ( currently helping my friend to selling the couple ring )

Nice explain though. For me i buy bitcoins because :

For Gambling.
I always do gambling everyday, and i spare my bitcoin around 0.05-0.1 per day for gambling.

For buying something online.
Like buying steam wallet or dota 2 item with bitcoins.

i think gambling is bad, the risk is very high, you are daily gambler, are you get some profit perday..? i doubt you can profit fom gambling everyday
873  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: April 06, 2016, 03:01:43 AM
Yes you right. It's very risky to quit your day job that have stable income every month and quit for full time on bitcoin. You must calculate, is it worth to quit your day job and how is the prospect of bitcoin in the future.

in my opinion full time on bitcoin is not risk if you can manage your profit, in real job you can get salary arround $400/month but if you focs at bitcoin i think $1000 is easy (need more capital, to trade it), you can withdraw 50% of your earning and enjoy it like your salary in real job, and save half foir future.

875  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: April 06, 2016, 02:37:20 AM
I need 200 btc at the time of retirement as I don't want to compromise with my lifestyle at older age, I just want to enjoy my life with lots of money  Grin
look like a nice goal i was going to say a dream but it can be real holding 200 btc and the price grow to 1000$ you will have a nice income 200000$ you can invest them in many things and you will have a great life :p.
I don't think that the $200k would be enough for the needs in the 20 years to come, many people mention that the cost of living in 20 years to come very expensive, of course you need more than $200k mate
moreover it can not be called a rich man

for me i can life with $3500 per year (at this time) . i think i can life in my retire day with 200k . it's depend about your style of life, also the cost of life in each country is diffirent. so for me i need only 5-6/btc per year for retire in 20years maybe 100btc is enough
876  Economy / Speculation / Re: The future of Bitcoin on: April 06, 2016, 02:27:54 AM
Well Nakamoto made the halving to make pression on the price, otherwise it could be stable for weeks or months, with that he can make us believe ,and the proof is here that bitcoins will keep growing in number of costumers and in value over the years.

the block halving can control bitcoin supply + bitcoin rate, this is pure economic theory, increasingly difficult to find it will be more expensiv.

so i  sure block halving make bitcoin price to the moon.
877  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: April 06, 2016, 02:08:12 AM
The business related to bitcoin is still too small. I will do some mining only in the short term.

mining Bitcoin is Long term investment, you can reach ROI in 1year, if you know the basic trading, i suggest you to invest buy bitcoin and sell it in sky price.
yeah true mining can only be done for the long term so that you can feel the benefits dude
but it seems the short term can be done if you do mining in cloudmining site ?
where you can sell your GHS at any time. but of course the price may rise or fall
at this momenth mining bitcoin need more than 1year to reach ROI , after block haling maybe we need 2year to reach ROI. if you want to try cloudminig i prefered use hashnest, it's true cloudmining no ponzi scheme.

879  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: April 06, 2016, 01:53:48 AM
Overall I think investing in the bitcoin is much better because there is a good chance that the bitcoin is gonna rise this year with large numbers.
This will rise because of the halving, so investing is good, although its unpredictable what is really gonna happen it will most likely rise.

invest at bitcoin is best method for growing our money at safe place, the unpredictable price it's a sense of each investment place.
for me invest in bitcoin is lke in vest at gold.
880  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-04-06] First Global Credit Opens New Monthly Trading Competition on: April 06, 2016, 01:33:35 AM
You just need to have an account. New users can also participate by opening a new account.  To start, users need to place the first F4 competition trades logs into their account and select Competition from the ‘Account Type’ Dropdown menu.

Each competitor will get 100 ‘Competition’ Bitcoins to trade. All traders can use the same leverage and trading rules in effect on the live site, meaning that bitcoins can be split between stock and futures trading with the entire margin available to trade against fiat currency, Stocks, futures and FX trading, all at the same time. Participants will receive interest and be charged trading fees just as if this was a live account. The competition will go one until the 29th of April and everyday users will be able to see if they’ve made it to the Top 10 on the company’s Twitter feed.
