861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BBQcoin.org Official Thread on: May 08, 2013, 12:43:51 AM
I have not been dishonest. I setup bbqcoin.org as I genuinely like the coin.

For three months I lost money with the web server costs when bbqcoin was worth nothing.

Yes I have 100,000 BQC but I am not about to dump them, as I like them.

I am honest with everything that I do, if people do not believe that, then its not a problem, its just the way I am.

I do have other projects other than BBQcoin but this one I get enjoyment out of and the community is great too.

CaptChadd, how did you came about BBQCoin? what did get your interest to restart it ?

The fact that it was labelled as a joke and most thought it was worthless.

Translation: he had a lot of worthless BQC and had to convince people it was worth something before he could start to sell any.

Come on guys, you're not fooling anybody here. Nobody will judge you for being motivated financially. But I will definitely be suspicious of you if you talk like a politician.

I have 100,000 BQC, do you class that as a lot?

Hi all,

I thought I would start a new BBQcoin thread as the OP from the original seems to not be around or interested in the project anymore.

If you don't know, I run bbqcoin.org and work alongside a few others to further develop and support BBQcoin.

I fund the website myself and I have done since the start as I actually really like BBQcoin and I don't run the website just for financial gain (Minus money first three months) but to assist the growth in both community support and the trade of this coin.

I also hope that this thread will help new users to make sure they don't get the wrong information.

First off, if you need to find out any information or get quick support then please use our IRC at #bbqcoin.org

On our IRC only users on there with an @ or + sign next to their name are official support staff for the website and they can assist you.

The website has the current Windows client with only a slight logo cosmetic change, the next client release is currently being worked on.

The source code, forum and IRC links are all there in the footer for anyone interested in getting involved in the community.

The last thing I want to say is that with this coin, for the most part, everyone is on the same playing field. The blockchain has been running to beyond 15 million coins and has been running long enough to allow everyone to get a fair share.

I am sure there are users out there with a big stack of coins but that is because they mined them the same as anyone else including myself when the difficulty was low and that was only the case because most users chose to forget about BBQcoin which understandably got labelled as a joke coin.

I consider BQC to no longer be a joke but a real crypto-currency only with a dry and sarcastic sense of humour.......and a great taste  Smiley

I have been busy and budget-filled just getting my "supernode infrastructure" set up to the point where I am able to maintain two DeVCoin "stable nodes" but as I do seem to be an at least somewhat major stakeholder in BBQcoin I will start trying to shoehorn the running of a BBQcoin "stable node" also into my "supernode budget".

Any other major stakeholders willing to make a commitment?

Or are the rest of you that are here just dumping your stakes or foisting off the costs of maintaining an appealing network on to others?

-MarkM-

I am trying my best and I would like to run a stable node to help the network.

A recent blockchain download will be added to blog.bbqcoin.org.

Do not download a blockchain from other sources, its bad practice and has always known to be and is also a big risk.

Check bbqcoin.org.

The best pool at the moment is linked there.

P2Pool is being worked on and I might post a bounty for one.

Lets keep things fair here for the new members.

I would say that 1000 BTC for 1 BTC would be a good amount to base trades around.

Look at the other alt coins and it seems in proportion.

Gone are the days of 10,000 BQC for 1 BTC.

MarkM is right, it is .conf not config.

Just a word of advice for any new members, for your own security please download the blockchain yourself using the client, I know it takes time but it is worth it for security reasons.
