21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.5 (Kimoto Gravity Well) on: May 18, 2015, 03:31:09 PM
Hey guys we can crowdfund new nodes if necessary with Bitnodes. I know operator personaly and he is a good guy  Smiley

Its a really good idea but I was just wondering why the website to fund an Extremecoin node only takes payment with Bitcoin, Litecoin or Dogecoin but not with Extremecoin?

Thanks.

Even though I did not release this coin, even low I made a loss investing in this coin at the start, I still am trying to support it by still paying the hosting fees for Zirkcoin.org and development is in the works.

I am working on quite a few projects at the moment, in my spare time and in the short to mid term will bring me no profit at all.

Having Zirkcoin myself I would imagine is a good thing, as it gives me even more motivation to help support this coin and as proven with Extremecoin, I do not support coins for a few weeks but years.

It would be helpful if through this thread I could get an idea of the amount of support this coin still has and who is invested it in, as then I can work together with these community members to make Zirkcoin the successful currency I believe it could be.

Many thanks

I have a few coins but not anything huge. Is there a timeline for a more stable window wallet? Mine worked for a while, staked and died when I exit the wallet. Haven't been able to bring it back.

The workaround that I found was to restart your PC and then start the Zirkcoin Windows client but to not touch the client in anyway until it has synced.

I am working on a sister client (As I did not released this coin) so that users have a choice in the meantime of which client to use.

The Wallet Client that I plan to release is going to be a basic stripped down version so that myself and the community have a simple but stable platform to improve and build upon.

An ETA on a release of that client should be within a couple of weeks but could be sooner, if I can get the project I am currently working on finished sooner.

Thanks.

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: |ANN| CRIMECOIN |X13| Are you ready, my friend? on: May 04, 2015, 03:34:35 PM
Why release a coin that has already been released in 2013.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CrimeCoin |X13| Launch 15.02.15 13:00 EST on: May 04, 2015, 03:31:08 PM
There is already a Crimecoin which I released in 2013.

Things have gotten so bad that some Developers cannot think of a new coin name and so release a copy, while the original Crimecoin is still being hosted and running.

I am not putting any links here as I am not here to promote anything but just to keep the community informed that this is a duplicate release Crypto-Currency.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ZirkCoin - [100% PoS] | [New] | [Features] | Version 1.1.0 on: May 04, 2015, 12:17:18 PM
Zirk kicked out of bittrex....lol!

Most likely due to low trade volume and because the Dev thought it was a good idea to release this coin with 100% POS interest which will promote hoarding.

I am working on getting it added to an exchange that does not remove any coins added no matter how low the trade volume is.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: May 02, 2015, 03:22:25 PM

Any active devs on this coin.

BBQ was quite a popular coin last time around so I think there's a nice customer base out there and some name recognition to work with.  Nice niche market too.

Hi there,

I still pay for the hosting for http://www.bbqcoin.org , I just gave BQC time to let the dust settle after BigDuab came charging in with his bbqcoin.com and huge ideas of a foundation etc and happened to do all this right at the time I managed to get BQC from pretty much forgotten to a serious trade coin.

The problem was that I could not develop the coin with him almost attempting a hostile takeover but over a Open Source Crypto-Currency which I found strange.

It turns out that he owns and still owns a restaurant and thought it would help put his business on the map if he took over control of BBQcoin and also accepted it as payment at his restaurant.

As he was promising lots of ideas for the coin and a bright future, I took a back seat and developed my own Crypto-Currency Extremecoin in mid 2013 which I still support today but Bigduab as his "Dev" team produced nothing, dumped their coins and then vanished.

For the last year I have been working pretty much silently, working on a Unification project to bring the Crypto-Currencies that I run the domains for; a combination of coins I have released and also one that got abandoned by the Dev then it was not even a month old, as a way to try and give something back to the community that has given me a vast amount of knowledge / insight, not just about Crypto-Currencies but also trading and a couple of valuable lessons about fairness, honesty and integrity.

I have deliberately not updated the BBQcoin client, as it seems to be running very well as it is and I am a firm believer that Wallet clients should be as simple and straightforward to use as possible.

The basic planned idea is to bring together several Crypto supporting groups so that we can all work together, instead of against each other and see if we can market these coins in a slightly different way to make them stand out again.

Right now I own no BQC at all but I still keep bbqcoin.org running as I see a future for this coin but I have been waiting for the dust to settle from the huge over saturation of coin releases.

The main reason I am posting this, is because I feel over the next few months, the time is going to be right to fully promote this long standing Crypto-Currency, along with a few others, as more community members are getting sick of coins being released, pumped, dumped and then the Devs vanish and the coin gets multi delisted.

I will be posting more in depth information once I have couple of extra domains, a VPS and everything needed running and beta tested.

I might not be the best coding developer for Crypto-Currencies, I look upto the Developers who have released some fantastic coins and I always read through their Source Code for inspiration.

My main quality I believe is to be able to market / promote and organise a Crypto-Currency to be able to achieve its full potential, even when times are hard and the "worth" is low, I never give up; call it stubbornness or sheer perseverance but that is the way I am.

If there still is a support base for BBQcoin, then that is great news and makes everything so much easier, as being an Open Source project, the feedback and suggestions from the community is what matters above all else; all Open Source projects should be run my the people, for the people.

To that end, if anyone has any thoughts regarding BBQcoin and its future, now would be a great start to hear them.

As this thread is very old and Cubox is not currently in the developer scene as it stands, I will be starting an open to all place for future development discussions, support etc and I will be posting the new VPS IP address I am purchasing on here, which will act as a 24/7 seednode.

Thanks for reading.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ZirkCoin - [100% PoS] | [New] | [Features] | Version 1.1.0 on: May 01, 2015, 09:11:16 PM
I have not stopped trying to support this coin.

I have been working on getting it onto a more stable exchange, with a support base.

I have been going over the Source Code and planning to release for now, a spin off client, that will be a stripped down, more basic version of the current client to get rid of the bug that the current client has but still leave the community the option to download either client.

The new simple client will not fork the chain or make any dramatic backend changes but just focus on the GUI front end for now, as that is where the majority of top priority issue are at the moment.

I have given the original developer more than enough time to come back and support this coin so now I have forked the client to my Github, moved the current client download to my Sourceforge so that I can start work on getting this more basic but bug free client released.

Once we have a stable client up and running for everyone, then we have a decent platform for which to promote the coin and work on slowly adding more features to the client and get services (Demand) up and running.

The current price of Zirkcoin on the exchanges at the moment is not an indication of its worth, as it's value is being effected by the fact that this coin developer vanished and left everyone with a broken client.

I said about six months ago that I would become a Developer that will help out the community, as a way to help pay back all the help the community has given me over the years.

I do this as a hobby and in my spare time and not with profit in mind but to reduce the amount of pump, dump and run coins, of which this coin, to the best of my efforts, will not be.

The website that I have paid out for and am running is at http://www.zirkcoin.org if anyone currently does not know.

Thanks for reading.

Hi all,

You can now vote for Zirkcoin to be added to Cryptopia Exchange which will also give us a web based block explorer at the same time and no coin even gets delisted which give this coin more security for trading.

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Home/Voting

Its only just been added but have 9 votes and using DOTcoin can give the voting a boost aswell.

Thanks.

I don't know more any anyone else as in "inside information" I just like the fact that this is a coin with a staking interest that is high enough to keep newer users who might only be able to purchase a few hundred Zirkcoin and mint blocks within reasonable timeframes.

I remember when I bought into Reddcoin and got involved in the hype of it all but when members were saying that they have a few thousand coins but it would take 35 days to mint a block, that is never going to retain a large user base of smaller traders, whereas this coin could.

As this coin is pretty much a 4 x clone from Peercoin, there is a vast amount of code that is technically dead code in this coin and so the source could do with being trimmed down before any fixes are pushed to the Gitub so the Source looks more professional to long term members and investors.

I have forked the Github to my repository, as pushes to the original are going to be ignored with the Dev gone but I can merge them to the forked original on mine, if the general Zirkcoin community agree it is acceptable to be added to the Source Code.

I am going to ask a few people who have been involved in the POS scene, with Peercoin and a few others and ask what they think of this coin and its source code as it stands and advice for a Windows client fix? It could just be a bad compile but it is best to be sure.

Once the Windows client is working without crashing, I could compile a Linux and Mac client, add them to the zirkcoin.org website and possible even market this coin and get being promotional work.

I would not pump this coin, just because I have quiet a few of them, as that does not give a true worth of the coin and following a pump, would be a fake dump, which is not going to be fair on any other coin holders or Zirkcoin supporters.

I would like to see this coin, eventually have a steady exchange price which reflects the 100% interest rate aswell.

Pumps just get holders quick profit but does nothing to improve the coin or increase faith in its stability.

I think the dev is loading up coins, but it doesn't matter.

I will sell everything and will get out of this coin.

It doesn't have any future

Even when he shows up suddenly, everyone will know this is a shitty dev.

I mean maybe the zirkcoin.com website will come online a the wallet could be fixed by a different beyond Hero level and decent level of development understanding of 4 x cloned POS coins.

Remember if the Dev dumps, that means loads of people have bought up Zirkcoin and the spread of Zircoin's will eventually end up better evenly spread around.

I still see a future for this coin but I am patient and always plan for the future and not for a quick buck dump. I am stubborn in that way.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ZirkCoin - [100% PoS] | [New] | [Features] | Version 1.1.0 on: April 08, 2015, 06:14:17 PM
Looking at the blockchain and all the POW mining transactions everything looks normal, no excessive instamine, however there was a lot of hash power pointed at the coin but this was sustained over the whole POW phase and not just in the first day or so.

It could be a reverse pre-mine maybe? A theory I have been thinking about.

Release a coin that shows potential, get it onto a few exchanges but then have something like a faulty client and a missing Dev, to reduce hope in the coin and then slowly reduce the worth of the coin and either the "Dev" or "people" behind this coin, buy up loads of them nice and cheap and then "suddenly" when they have a huge hunk of the total amount of coins and can control the flow of supply and demand, Zirkcoin.com comes back online, with a fix for the Wallet client and the price and faith in the coin increase again to anything they want it to be and make lots of money. (A purchase can only be as high as the sale price.)

Like I said, just a theory I came up with while looking at how the exchanges are playing out and have randomly decided to nickname it the "Reverse Premine" because to start with they actually have to sell off at lower and lower prices (Getting rid of coins) to get people to panic sell so they can buy it all up.

It's because of this theory and the fact that I was invested 8000 ZIRK into this coin that I got worried that if "they" owned too many coins, it could be dangerous for the network, which is why I currently own 103,701 ZIRK and staking them and I will never sell them in a panic as I know that holding 20% of all Zirkcoin is going to be a bit of a thorn in their side, if the theory is correct.

I will be doing a ZIRKcoin giveaway right after "they" decide to come out of the shadows and fix the Windows client and get Zirkcoin.com back online, until that happens, I am just going to be staking away and trying to protect the integrity of this coin and not let it just become yet another dump show.

Hello. Friend ask me to try help.

Please for Windows do this.

If first install start step 3. If coins already sent to wallet step 1.

1. ) If you do not have Windows hidden files set to unhidden then go to the control panel, under appearance setting go to folder options, view, then click “Show hidden files”.  Now go to the folder normally here if C is your main drive – C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Roaming\ZirkCoin

2. ) Delete every files EXCEPT wallet.dat

3. ) Download wallet from https://mega.co.nz/#!8EdhQAYK!zxUJ0itrhxFCOIH3A21t5Hh31oM65AE2UH_o2LhTUGs
As post by shit dev here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=994869.msg10830308#msg10830308

4. ) If first install open wallet and close

4. ) Download this zip https://mega.co.nz/#!ccQGGCwJ!ZrnEAiLTzODNMIwIgTImmqi_Tfgq1GqcgjzFFDKyq0o

5. ) From zip put bootstrap.dat and peers.dat in folder – C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Roaming\ZirkCoin

6. ) Open wallet and wait for import. This take you clear of problem block.

Wallet is fat if it look like sleep just leave it will come awake again and stop sleep once sync.
This not simple fix it is fix for now.
This work for me on Windows 7.

It not work for you please for clear report make post with problem and exact OS (Windows8.1 or what).

Ahhh finally got this working on my main windows machine now (win 8.1) maybe there is hope for Zirk yet. Thank you!!

@CaptChadd I don't know if you're trying to get cheap coins or something else, but if you genuinely want to help this project maybe you shouldn't be so dismissive of other people. This at least for me is a working solution. So what happens with Zirk now?

I'm not being dismissive at all but if you notice another user already posted a blockchain to download and instructions were given.

Why on earth I would want to cheapen the worth of Zirkcoin, when I paid out to get zirkcoin.org and pay for monthly hosting makes no sense.

It has been mentioned many times from members that have been registered on this forum longer than me, that it is a risk to download someone elses blockchain other than the one downloaded through the client, as chains can be manipulated, that is my only point.

If you read back on all my posts, I have actually told nobody to do anything and I never will.

Like I said before, I bought some Zirkcoin when the Dev was around, I still have some but I got into this coin as an investor and not thinking that I would be looked upon by some as though I would take this coin on to Develop.

I am the Extremecoin creator and developer and I have stuck by that coin since its release in late 2013, right now, I am not even sure I have the spare time to devote to help this coin on a development level, as I do my other dev work in my spare time as it is.

Ignore the Hero Member title that is on here, that just means I have posted a lot, mainly during the BBQcoin and early Extremecoin days.

The main thing is that I will never tell anyone directly to buy or sell anything, even my own coin that I Dev, that is for investors to decide.

I am taking just as much a chance holding onto my Zirkcoin, as the rest of the users who have invested.

Last thing the "Shit Dev" comments were really not needed, no matter who the Dev is but just on a level to keep this forum looking professional if future investors want to read though this thread to decide whether to invest or not and if they think the coin has been created and released by a "Shit Dev" then they will run a mile.

If anything I would not be the one on this forum thread "trying" to keep the price of Zirkcoin low.

Nice design and some potential with planned projects.
The only shit that keeps me out is silent dev, which seems to be out of here. Why people just can't keep on working on something if they started it?
Doesn't make sense to me...

I 100% agree with everything you have posted.

Release a coin and stick with it no matter what.

Fan Support website and possible webstore opening for Planetcoin ASAP.

Website address to be released tomorrow once the basic foundations are in place.

I do this from my own funding as i noticed that Planetcoin did not get on an exchange as it had no website, well i will be sorting that out for you so any donations would really help.

Thank you.

I can't just take over a coin that has only been out a matter of weeks and it is a clone of Shadowcoin, which I think is a clone of Blackcoin, which is a clone of Peercoin, its going to take me a while to read through all the source code before I can begin to feel confident enough to heavily support this coin.

Getting the Windows client working properly is a big problem but I think it is going to be more than one issue causing it so for that we are going to need one of the original Developers of any of the coins listed above to take a quick look over and give a one minute diagnoses.

I invested in Zirkcoin because I liked the sensible total amount of coins mined during the POW phase but the client itself goes against everything that I stand for with Wallet clients, as in I develop / clone and keep them as simple as possible, as they are just for getting coins from one person to another.

Just a quick one to MrFixer, I don't think that we should be calling the OP a "Shit Dev", for all we know he could be ill or any number of reasons and besides, how many "Shit Devs" do you know who manage to get a coin onto three exchanges in a matter of weeks.

This is a POS coin and because of this it is not going anywhere until POW coins where the mining can stop.

I will continue researching this coin and the client but in the meantime we will have to work together as a team to slowly get this community together.

The price of this coin is holding up on BitTrex and even rising at times so I am keeping my coins until I see a negative reason to no longer have them.

Got a few blockchains being posted in this thread at the moment.

My advice is to only download a blockchain from a source or person that you know and you trust.

We could really do with some older members in this thread to help out aswell.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ZirkCoin - [100% PoS] | [New] | [Features] | Version 1.1.0 on: April 05, 2015, 01:53:31 PM
Hi all,

I am not completely sure what to do in this situation with Zirkcoin or what the community wants to happen but before the Dev went missing, I had invested in Zirkcoin and I still have the coins and as Zirkcoin.com is down, i will keep zirkcoin.org up and running and add any links that anyone thinks would benefit the coin or new services that pop up.

I understand what the change was for with the MasterPubKey and I have seen a few clients over the last few years that don't like to be touched or moved until fully synced, I remember Rucoin had some problems like that I think.

The fact that many people get stuck at or around block 3000 means that the checkpoint added, for some strange reason, has made fresh client not sync from scratch which is normally only caused by a fork.

As most, if not all of my Crypto work as been with POW Scrypt coins, I am reading up and learning all about Shadowcoin, to get a general idea about how much different this coin is to any other POS coin like Peercoin etc and any security flaws their could be.

Does anyone know if pure POS still has that double spend problem if the chain forks?

Anyway, in the meantime I am just doing some LAN testing of the Windows client with modified source code to see if I can at least get rid of the sync from scratch issue.

Like what has been said before, we can't really promote this coin fully as supporters until we have a stable wallet client for 99.99% of users.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

In the checkpoints.cpp the following change was made after the client was released:

Checkpoints.cpp

-const std::string CSyncCheckpoint::strMasterPubKey = "02334512c0d7a9a69289c4b7ad1c76e5330ef9dacd9da912c91a853986bddf0434";
+const std::string CSyncCheckpoint::strMasterPubKey = "02a17252a60bc8e33b7a5e6774448c8d50605ad681bcff93d370544e48f96c67a6";

This is supposed to be done before a clients release I am sure?

At the same hour time for the github code update the below was added, that is most likely causing the problems of Windows clients crashing before or at the 3000 block in the chain is the following checkpoint:

Checkpoints.cpp

Line 29 +        ( 3000,   uint256("0x0000000001a05263085bb2a004c410432fde803648687457a957beafee7c2bc3") )

This checkpoint IMHO does not look right or even the correct checkpoint code.

Am I right?

If I am then I can fix the wallet crashing at the block 3000 error.
