281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 15, 2013, 01:08:00 PM
Did anyone check what was happened yesterday, is everything ok in blockchain?
Was that attack when network hashrate was so high or it was just someone with 1GH/s?

Block 7790 is fine, it is just that the big miner has gone and the rest of the mining power has to adjust to the high difficulty. As soon as it passes the 72 block threshold the network will return back to normal.

Is anyone else interested in the push to get EXC on Cryptsy? This coin would do so well on there and with the increased traffic.
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 13, 2013, 06:26:23 PM
No. Only mining :-)
284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 13, 2013, 09:03:01 AM
Well I still fully support this coin and am still investing my time in future projects too. This has not changed my workload of devotion to Extremecoin.
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] ExtremeCoin | Cryptc.me Stratum Mining Pool [US] 2% Fees - DDOS Protected on: September 12, 2013, 11:27:10 PM
The pool owner does not care, you are never getting your coins back.

He is a dick and we all know it, we just need to learn from it.

I will never use one of his pools again. Ever.
286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 12, 2013, 11:25:05 PM
Its takle a while for the activity to go up, so I will be on 420 for a while.

As for this coin, you either support it or you don't.

This is not about supporting a pool, it is about supporting a coin, that is the main thing here.

Who in this thread is going to continue to support Extremecoin and who, tell me now, is not going to just because one pool owner acts like a self righteous dick?

I have done every that I can to make this coin fair but it seems even that is not good enough.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 10, 2013, 05:16:25 PM
I said it was my fault, it was my responsibility to make consistent wallet backups that I hadn't gotten around to doing yet. There are no backups, there is nothing to retrieve. The hosting provider does not perform backups on dedicated servers. The hardware is decommissioned and repurposed.

They. are. gone. There is nothing left to be done. I'm not a scammer, accidents happen. I'm not reimbursing anyone because it was your responsibility to use autopay and not accumulate all your coins on a pool somewhere out of your control, for reasons just like this.

You can call me a scammer if those coins ever leave that wallet, which they won't. All the coins are lost for everyone, period. It sucks, deal with it. Jesus. Stop PM'ing me novels.

Fine you are accepting fault, but you're not accepting *responsibility*. Your self-justification for not even attempting a partial reimbursement, is ridiculous. A pool is a type of financial service provider. You are contracting to provide a service, including responsibly holding people's funds. I have seen other pools go down, and the operators make an effort to get everyone's coins back. If an exchange gets hacked, they make an effort to refund any losses, at their expense. Because that's the ethical thing to do, and much better for long-term reputation and business.

It's *not* miners' responsibility to frantically pull their coins out of pools just in case the operator is a thief/incompetent. That is a safety valve we have - it does not absolve the operator's responsibility to not lose/steal the coins in the first place!  The entire coin is only a few weeks old - it's hardly unreasonable for miners to leave funds in a pool for a few weeks.

We extended you trust, and you failed it.

And now you're compounding the problem, by trying to brush it away, and not even trying to make things up.

The other reason we need you to make an effort, is because otherwise the coin has the shadow hanging over it of a potentially stolen major chunk of coins. If instead the coins can be believed as most likely lost, then we can just factor that into the total picture. And you can help that belief by making a bona fide effort.

I'm sure the miners would work with you, and accept even a partial settlement if the whole amount is too much for you to make up.

UPDATED TALLY of lost/stolen EXC spoken for so far:

Adeel06 ?
boxuser 200
bitezze ?
Queegeh ?
mill0601 9000
bandjhughes ?
Jaden 20000
bluestang ?
YukonCoinelius 6000
javyer (login jagetinfovyer) 5000

TOTAL = 40200 EXC ++, which is 2.9% of the total mint (1380000) as of block 6900 on Sept 10.

Anyone else with lost coins or ? noted above, post or PM me, and I'll update the tally with your amount (anonymously if you prefer not to be listed), so we can understand what % of the coin has been lost/stolen here.

There is only one problem with this list. If someone out there who wanted to manipulate the total lost/stolen coins, they could PM you, lie and say they had 50,000 coins on the pool for example. You have only their word on this as there is no proof on how many coins were actually on the pool.

We need a list of lost/stolen coins but also proof to back it up.

Right now I just cannot believe how flippant and how much Lollaskates seems to not care.

He seems to have the "its just happened, so get over it" attitude which I find disgusting, this is other peoples coins/money we are talking about here.

I am never going to have anything to do with Lollaskates after this, his ignore button just got pressed.
289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (CTC) (Currency Name Change) on: September 10, 2013, 02:08:33 PM
Should be working now.

What changed? Still can't connect to anything here. Can you throw me a few node IPs?

Code:
$ ./communitycoind -datadir=. getpeerinfo
[
]

addnode=212.48.67.126

That is the node of the seed client on my vps, it does have people connecting to it.

The address that I have from the pool that went down is PGyfub9FA8aa1chMRXyXvrwQpVJswPBRBJ

Does that match anyone else?
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin - Scrypt Version - ASIC Resistant on: September 10, 2013, 12:56:35 PM
It only erases your original Bitcoin wallet if you let it happen and don't know what you are doing.

I never keep my SHA Bitcoin wallet in appdata anyway, I have the client point to another hard drive using the map method.

It is funny to be solo mining Bitcoin again, even if they are not real or worth anything.
292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of all cryptocoins on: September 10, 2013, 12:50:31 PM
Would you be able to add Extremecoin, its at the top of both coinchoose and coinwarz and is on two exchanges. Thanks.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 10, 2013, 12:23:05 PM
https://coinex.pw/mining/pools/EXC

This looks like a safer pool to use than the one that went down, as it is connected directly to an exchange.

I will be mining on this pool, just please don't store all your coins on it.
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (CTC) (Currency Name Change) on: September 10, 2013, 11:45:43 AM
Should be working now.
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 10, 2013, 11:32:31 AM
They didn't have any backups?

And that is a big mistake.

And is why all pools have an autopay feature. Having 20,000 coins in any pool is having a lot of faith and trust in that service, I don't even trust the exchanges with that amount of coins.

As it stands there are two other pools, with one of the pools actually run by one of the exchanges, that seems like a safer bet, just please don't store any coins on the exchanges and use the autopay feature.

Stopping supporting Extremecoin just because one pool has shutdown, a pool that I do not run or control, is a little "extreme", I was not the one who lost your coins, I have made this coin as fair as it can be development wise.

Thanks

Source code now includes all QT and build files.
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 09, 2013, 09:33:03 PM
The pool http://exc.cryptc.me/ is down and looking like for it is not coming back online. To make things clear, I did not run this pool. I only develop the EXC client.

Hard drive and wallet failure was the message I got back, that was all.

As it stands I would use the other two pools and use the AUTO payment feature. No-one should be holding a large amounts of coins on a pool or any service, if you cannot afford to lose them.

I hold most of any coin on my rigs at home, USB sticks, CD's, Micro SD cards etc and no-where else, that way if I lose them, I only have myself to blame.

Thanks.

I heard Satoshi hates ASIC's.

Do you have any idea when this pool will be back up?
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 09, 2013, 06:06:09 PM
github is missing all qt stuff ...

QT files are being adding to the Github, have not a clue how they did not sync. Thanks for noticing.

Hello CaptChadd,

It seems that both of your commits does not added or changed any files ... Just look at github history :

"0 changed files with 0 additions and 0 deletions. "

I know, I have tried it countless times and it just will not add the files, it is saying on my desktop client that they have synced though.

As for the pool, I have contacted the owner but have heard nothing back. I might have to remove the pool from the OP and website.
