301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (CTC) (Currency Name Change) on: September 09, 2013, 06:04:09 PM
Having trouble running commmunitycoind when compiled from source.

Firstly, the source file contained about 20-25MB worth of Windows specific stuff, DLLs and even geocoind.exe (this is Communitycoin, right? Cheesy ) sitting in the src dir. Also, one of the source files has 3 or 4 random characters of garbage at the very start which had to be edited out to compile.

Then once I ran communitycoind...

Assertion failed: (block.hashMerkleRoot == uint256("0x7bcc6ac4395696e1895efc3f899451d41d5211b724868e8bbfe07849e049a646")), function LoadBlockIndex, file main.cpp, line 2031.

Here's the code in main.cpp leading up to the assert:

Code:
        //// debug print
        printf("%s\n", block.GetHash().ToString().c_str());
        printf("%s\n", hashGenesisBlock.ToString().c_str());
        printf("%s\n", block.hashMerkleRoot.ToString().c_str());
        assert(block.hashMerkleRoot == uint256("0x7bcc6ac4395696e1895efc3f899451d41d5211b724868e8bbfe07849e049a646"));

I don't know enough about C++ or the *coin source to fix this. What's going on?

You need to download the blockchain file in the OP and put it in a appdata communitycoin folder. This was due to the name switchover.

Is it just me, or is the seednode down?

I will check it for you.

Your EXC pool is down if you did not know.

Nice small chain and no ASIC's. In a crazy world a crazy choice.

github is missing all qt stuff ...

QT files are being adding to the Github, have not a clue how they did not sync. Thanks for noticing.

LOL, I will mine this for about an hour, just for fun. Reject central though.

Good news.

I just spoke to BitJohn in the Cryptsy chat and Extremecoin is going to be added to the list of possible additions.

They are just sorting out the rank order the coins are going to be in that list at the moment.

Lets hope it is high up  Smiley

I just think it is down, don't know the reason yet. Ved is probably in bed right now.

The solo hashrate is more than enough to keep the network running smooth.

I will chase up why the second pool is down though.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 08, 2013, 12:07:41 AM
Both pools down looks even more like a doss attack. Maybe someone is trying to either get the diff down or attempt a 51%.
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - The 2 month block reward only Crypto. on: September 07, 2013, 11:36:16 PM
The pool is down :\

exc.cryptc.me is not loading

Might be getting dossed to bring the difficulty down. There is another pool you can use on OP.

Hi all,

Can all users make sure they have updated their client to the most current version of Extremecoin. I have noticed from connected client that some are still using the old version 1.0 client. These will stop working from the reward drop onwards.

There will also be another client version 1.2 update a week or so before the reward drop, to add some checkpoints, a new splash image and a new Icon.

Thanks

OK, so it is confirmed that Extremecoin will be added to the Iphone App Coin Ticker.

There is lots of talk of these coin on the Chinese forums, I guess due to its listing on BTER.com.

I think right now, most of the big miners, are just trying to get as many of these coins as they can right now, the sell order volume is low but the buy order volume is high.

More votes for this coin to be added to the PhenixEx exchange will help and also more of a push for a Cryptsy listing.

PhenixEx Exchange Poll https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=285906.new;topicseen#new (EXC currently has 18 votes)

A listing on Cryptsy would really help due to the increased volume on that exchange even if it were paired against Litecoin.

If we can get this coin onto another exchange, I feel EXC on 2 exchanges will be enough to help me secure some serious services for this coin, even after the reward drop.

I am looking at the future of this coin passed the reward drop now and trying to get everything in place for when it does, this is never going to be a massive pump and dump at the reward drop, if it happened, I would be one of the people buying all the dumps up and then using a lot of the coins as new bounties.

Flound, have you taken a look at Extremecoin? Just from casual notice, it seems to handle difficulty changes pretty well, and has a decent steady hash power behind it.

I've looked at it, but I believe the block reward goes from 200 down to 1 at block 5,000 or something crazy like that.

It's going to fizzle out like a bad fart.

It's block 17280 not block 5,000, just to let you know.  Smiley

Mincoin is running just fine at 2 coins per block and that went from 500 a block down to 2 more quickly than Extremecoin's 200 down to 1 in around two months.

is this worth mining?

Depends if you think it is going to go up in value the closer we get to the block reward drop to 1.

I am planning in it being worth mining and worth buying at the cheap price it is right now.

Are you planning on any new services, etc. that would make the coin have more usability and real-life value?

Services are in the works, after this coin gets onto at least one for exchange for stability. Also waiting to see how the coin is viewed after the reward drop, as are a lot of service providers.

Very good news. And another good news is that last night i had a dream about extremecoin and it was 8.7 btc. It was a hell of a dream! Smiley)

You dreaming about Extremecoin makes me happy. Depending on how things go, smaller miners might be better of buying in at the cheap price, with the diff how high it is.

GOGO VLC to cryptsy

3.5 MIL coins exist atm

So almost a third of all coins mined is the pre-mine?

That does not mean diluted at all.
319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★★ [ANN][VLC] ValueCoin | The real valuable coin | Launched on: September 04, 2013, 08:54:36 PM
This coin has been there for long time, should be listed in cryptsy!

Have you been reading the above?

Why would cryptsy list it with all the pre-mined coins out there and the lack of explanation?

Ohh... they wouldn't.

Aaaaan... they haven't.

I don't agree with what you said.

Cryptsy will make their money, they don't care about a coin premined or not. In fact, they listed many coins heavily premined, some just a few days after they launched. I suspect these are made by their friends, or themselves.

The key to get listed is to have more interests in the miners. Now there are many competitions to cryptsy. I see bter.com listed many coins recently, including many not listed in the cryptsy, for example CDC (1 mil premined I think). This is good strategy for them, as the 1st one always get advantages among the traders. People don't really care about premine, premine will be factored in the trading price anyway, so there's nothing to worry about it.

That's why pre-mine is bad. It devalues a coin instantly, which is going to annoy anyone that wants to mine it fairly and for it get a good price on an exchange.
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★★ [ANN][VLC] ValueCoin | The real valuable coin | Launched on: September 04, 2013, 06:10:36 PM
yea, how is the vlc.epools.org doing?

I know a lot of us invested hundreds if not thousands of hours into that pool for your coin.

So, things are good?

Yes the premine has been over-exagerrated. Like i discussed in the earlier post, most of the premine has been diluted and total VLC have have surpassed enough to not let VLC be a problem anymore.

So what you saying is that it is ok to have a massive pre-mine just as long as enough people mine more to "dilute" your million coins?

You do know that a pre-mine of 1 million coins instantly devalues the value of Valuecoin.
