Medvedev is bad on grand slams lately but he still wins weaker tournaments and that gives him a higher ranking. I think on Us open he can make a surprise because his best surface is the hard court. It would be a different match between him and Alcaraz because Medvedev is much better on hard court. While Djokovic is the favorite again on all tournaments

If we were to compare him with Djokovic or Alcaraz, I doubt he would consistently perform at the same level against them. In terms of competing on grand stages, Djokovic and Alcaraz clearly surpass him. However, it's important to consider that he is only 27 years old. There is still ample opportunity for improvement in my opinion. Taking Novak Djokovic as an example, who has performed remarkably well even in his mid-30s, it suggests that there is hope for him as well.

Alcaraz is indeed the wonder child of this generation but will he be able to win 20 or more grandslams like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic? Alcaraz (and Djokovic for the next 2 years) will be the men to beat in the future but nowadays you got so many good and young players that stand a chance (Sinner, Ruud, Medvedev). You also still got the likes Tsitsipas, Kyrgios, Thiem, that can maybe also win a grandslam in a good day.

I genuinely believe he has potential. It wouldn't be astonishing if he eventually excels over a long period of time and competes alongside the legendary players in terms of the number of Grand Slam victories they accumulated. Since it's early in his career, it remains difficult to make a definitive judgment. Nevertheless, if he desires to achieve great things, maintaining good health and avoiding injuries are crucial aspects that cannot be overlooked.|
882  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is making a mess of my savings. on: July 21, 2023, 03:13:41 PM
How are you guys pulling it through with this inflation?

Hasn't inflation always been a problem in the world? but humans always have a way to overcome it because humans can always adapt well to everything that happens.
You can't fight inflation, which can be done by making adjustments so that you can still meet your main needs in full, one of which is by looking for additional income, just complaining won't change the situation and saving is only useful when things are urgent but to deal with inflation you have to start investing, right? just save because your fiat money will always go down in value.

If people take a moment to learn about how the economy works, they will know that inflation is a part of the economy and it is always present in our lives. But most people won't feel it because it's under the government's control and doesn't affect them much, so they don't feel it. Most people just focus on enjoying life in a stable economy, they are not prepared for unexpected bad things. So when inflation gets out of control, things go bad quickly and they start complaining and blaming anyone.

Indeed, instead of trying to overcome difficulties, many people just complain and blame others even though it doesn't change anything for them.

If you think gambling is suitable for comparison with forex trading, there is nothing wrong with OP comparing bitcoin to gambling because aside from holding, bitcoin is still used to trade in the market. This is a bias for bitcoin to say that bitcoin is better than forex or stocks, as each market has its own advantages. You cannot trade and make money with forex, but many people who have succeeded with it are even richer than the bitcoins you hold. Do not criticize others when you are not much better than them.

We need to be rationale while comparing or analysing bitcoin. There are folks who become based while defining benefits of bitcoin which in my opinion is not good. Every trading market has its own pros and cons, nothing is free from cons and so is bitcoin. If you have proper experience and knowledge of specific market only then you can succeed in specific market. Bitcoin without proper knowledge and know how won't give you any benefit.

To me, Bitcoin or forex are just tools for us to use, and both can be considered gambling if we use them like gambling. I mean, if we enter trades or invest in them without any knowledge, it is no different than we are gambling. The line between gambling and investing is very thin and it all depends on how we use them.

You are right, each market has its pros and cons, it is not possible because we are investing in bitcoin that we can say spreading misinformation about another market. But many people become evil and always speak badly of what they think is not good for them or that they cannot make money from it. I am a bitcoin investor, but I like being realistic and fair.

Djokovic is still going to play and looking for another Grand Slam to set the records for him and to separate him as the GOAT. I do agree that it will be Medvedev to make the top 3 and the rest could be Tsitsipas, who I was a fan of years ago, and then Rune, Ruud and Rublev and Sinner.

Hopefully this lost to Djokovic doesn't mean that he is slowing down a bit. But Alcaraz has already proven himself against Djokovic and others. So it's going to be very tough for Djokovic to get that 1 Grand Slam as long as Alcaraz is enter on that tournament.

He played really strongly in the final. So I don’t think he is going to slow down. But obviously, he might have a psychological war to win which is against himself. He is obviously a player who has good mental strength. So I think he will be able to overcome that.

But the next time he's going to play against Alcaraz people are obviously going to point fingers at him. There will be a lot of questions if he will actually be able to beat Alcaraz or not. But I am sure that whenever they face each other again in the finals, it is going to be another really great match. I genuinely believe that Novak Djokovic will be able to beat Alcaraz if these two meet in the finals again.

After becoming the 2020 US Open champion, Dominic Thiem struggled with injury for quite a long time so when he returned to the field he had to start from scratch, for big tournaments he has found it difficult to compete so far because the early rounds will immediately meet seeded players, but saw him lose in the second round of the ATP Gstaad to an unseeded player which even resulted from qualifying in the tournament it was quite a struggle for Thiem to get back to his best position, he lost in 3 sets, the first set belonged to his opponent but in the second set Thiem managed to take it easily but unfortunately the third set after his game was taken by his opponent he was unable to take it back so he had to leave the tournament early.
It's just  very unfortunate for Thiem to really struggle to make a comeback after his injury. And it become a career threatening for him, while his contemporaries like Tsitsipas and Medvedev continue to enjoy success and stay in the top 5, Dominic has been relegated below the standings and it seems that he can't get over or not the same anymore after his injury.
Congrats to those who back up Alcaraz against Djokovic. Up to know it has been a topic of discussion for me and my brother about how great Alcaraz is and that fight. And it could be just him Djokovic and to some extend Medvedev going to dominant in the next 2 or more years.

I personally believe that the main competitors in the next 2 / 3 years are going to be Djokovic, Alcaraz, and Medvedev. But I still do not think that Medvedev is on the same level as the other two. Alcaraz is obviously the wonder child. Djokovic is the experienced one. These two are going to play against each other as long as Djokovic does not start performing badly because of his age. It could be 2 years or it could be more. But I think these two are going to be the center of attraction for that time.

887  Economy / Economics / Re: Can CBDC users lose control of their money? on: July 19, 2023, 09:44:06 AM
CBDC is the same as fiat, both are controlled by governments and banks. No difference can be expected from the CBDC, but it may only appear effective for adoption as another currency that helps financial transactions be more transparent. CBDC can also reduce reliance on paper money, but that is no different from digital fiat either.

We can't expect CBDC to support users' financial privacy, it's exactly the same way we use a bank. Transaction supervision is also still under the central bank, so that the CBDC is still a currency that is no different from before.
CBDCs are fiat money in digital form, there will be basically no difference as they are still controlled and regulated by the government. But there is a difference, fiat transactions will still become more private than CBDC. When you use CBDC, all the data about your assets will be entirely controlled by the government, but that is impossible if you hold a large amount of cash.

Apart from bitcoin, we should never expect any other currency that can give us privacy, especially those issued by the government, because that is what they need to control us.
888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 18, 2023, 11:50:08 AM
Australia Women vs England Women
Today is the third and the last ODI match between these two teams. Both teams played well in the last two matches and their series is now 1-1. And this is final match which will show that who will win the series. Can't predict at this time because both teams are good and will try its best to win this match. The match is going to be interested. And I think which one will take first turn and will go above 280 runs so this will be little bit difficult target for the second team.
Today is the final match of ODI series between Australia women team vs England women team because in the first two matches England women team won one match and Australia women team won one match so whichever team wins today between the two teams will finally win the ODI series. Australia won the only Test match of the entire tour to win the Test series. In the subsequent two T20s out of the three T20s, England Women's team won the T20 series. Both Australia and England have a chance to decide the series with a win in today's ODI match. In the last match, Australia won the match very closely against England. Australia won the second ODI by just three runs. I want to put England ahead in the final match of the ODI series. Hopefully England will win the last match and confirm the ODI series.

I guess this match is also going to be very close. This is the decider though. So it is going to be very hard for both teams to win this match. In women’s cricket, this is the only match that is interesting and entertaining. Both of these teams are the best in women’s cricket. The performance that they are showing is also very good. It is not every day that we see good competitive matches in women’s cricket. But these two are capable of doing that.

Anyway, the last ODI match is also going to be very close. I honestly did not expect such a good performance from England women. I will have to say that they have impressed me. Let’s see if they can win the last match and win the ODI series as well after the T-20.
889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: July 17, 2023, 06:32:49 PM
I understand the surprise in the UCL can happen to any club. But, my assumption is, with Newcastle's current strength, they still need time. It's not about their financial or the rich club, but about their chances of bringing in players who have a winning mentality in the UCL. That's why I say, maybe not for now, until they can win the EPL, then it will be easier for Newcastle to really able to compete in the UCL. We'll see PSG, with their financial strength and also the quality of their players, they can't be champions yet, the same thing can happen to newcastle. Well going to round 16 is look make sense, but we have to see in the group phase
Anyway, if Newcastle are aggressive to bring in players who have a winning mentality, then i'm sure that Newcastle can get it. But unfortunately, so far Newcastle are not too aggressive to bring in players who have more experience who are also more qualified. But, that does not mean Newcastle must first win the Premier League title to bring in players with such criteria. Because the most important thing is, atleast Newcastle can play well in the Champion League, it seems it is also enough to get quality players to accept offers to play at Newcastle. But yes, let's look forward to what results Newcastle will get in the Champions League next season, because of course the hope is to qualify for the last 16 or maybe also the quarter finals.

I hope I am not wrong but I believe Newcastle United is a kind of new entry in the Champions League region in recent times. The performance that they have shown in the English Premier League was obviously incredible. But to perform well in the Champions League they will have to bring in new and better players.

I absolutely agree with @hahay that Newcastle United is not going aggressive in the transformer market. At least not so far. If they do not get aggressive they will not be able to win matches in the Champions League in crucial times. I don't think that performance is going to be great for them in the Champions League, to be honest. And by that I mean they are not going to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Agha Salman scored 61 runs and Saud Shakeen remained unbeaten with 69 runs. If these two batsmen can stay at the crease for the first 10 overs tomorrow, I believe that Pakistan will take a lead of at least 60-80 runs. But if this pair is broken at the beginning of the day, it will be very difficult for Pakistan to collect 312 runs. Pakistan is still behind by 91 runs.
They did save Pakistan when they needed them the most since it looked like they would trail the Lankans by a decent margin which is clearly still possible as you mentioned. Just one wicket could turn the tides in Lanka's favor.

Am expecting Pakistan to get close to the target and fall due to which they will end up trailing them by a small margin.

The partnership is already 120 between Shakeel and Agha. This partnership is certainly going to save Pakistan in my opinion. From 101/5 to 221/5. They have also scored to 21 in only 45 overs. And this was certainly a confident performance from Pakistan. Especially from this pair.

But the problem is Pakistan is still trailing by 91 runs. So they will have to be careful when they start playing in the next day. Because the first session can be very tricky for anyone. They will have to survive the first session. I hope Pakistan will at least be able to get into the lead. But if any of the batsmen who are in the middle gets out, it is going to be very hard for them to do so. Pakistan will have to keep wickets in hand, no matter what. It won't be too much of a problem if they even and the innings by being on the trail for only 5-10 runs as well. But getting a lead is obviously a psychological advantage. It doesn't matter what the lead is right now for Pakistan.

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan came out on top, no cricketer from India or Pakistan is even close to him. As the age of Shakib Al Hasan is increasing day by day, it is as if he is taking himself to another level. He has performed brilliantly since the beginning of his career so he has reached this place. Shakib Al Hasan has a record as an all-rounder since then. Shakib Al Hasan hit another unique milestone in the third and final ODI of the series against Afghanistan on Tuesday. Shakib needed only 29 runs to hit the new milestone before taking the field in this match. He scored a total of 14 thousand 39 runs in 3 formats in international cricket. As a result, he has crossed the barrier of 14 thousand runs in three formats. On the other hand, he has taken 600 wickets in all three formats with the ball, now he has 674 wickets next to his name and Shakib himself has given birth to a new club. Shakib Al Hasan is the only all-rounder in the world who has 600 wickets with 14,000 runs in three formats. Shakib himself, however, does not want to bother with the record, the Bangladeshi star's only goal is to make Bangladesh the champion.
Shakib Al Hasan is an all rounder player of Bangladesh team.  Shakib Al Hasan can be seen playing well in all situations.  And there is no other player like him in the Bangladesh team.  But it cannot be guaranteed that another player like him does not exist in a team like India.  India, Australia, England each team is very good in cricket and they play better than Bangladesh.  So one player like Shakib Al Hasan is not enough to make Bangladesh better. Bangladesh needs to develop a few more players like Shakib Al Hasan.  Then Bangladesh to develop itself more in cricket
There's no denying the truth. Shakib is definitely superior to the rest! Bangladesh team is truly lacking a high-quality player like Shakib Al Hasan. It would be wise to consider giving him the captaincy in the ODI format. However, there's a question of whether the Bangladesh team can afford to take the risk of changing the captaincy right now, especially with the Asia Cup and World Cup just around the corner. Somehow I feel like that under his captaincy Bangladesh can perform way better than expected.

Shakib Al Hasan is the best cricketer in the whole world. It is actually very sad how Bangladesh cricket board and even some cricket fans of Bangladesh actually do not respect Shakib Al Hasan. But I can guarantee that if he was a player from England or Australia, the media and also the cricket board would have made sure that he is always respected and he would have been a king in those countries. I can guarantee that some of the young men who actually criticize Shakib Al Hasan does not even have the same level of testosterone that Shakib Al Hasan has even at the age of mid-30s.

Anyway, Shakib Al Hasan is going to be a big player for Bangladesh in the upcoming World Cup. Just Laky was in the previous World Cup. He alone scored more than 600 runs. I am genuinely worried about what happens to Bangladesh cricket if he retires, which is going to be soon.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin leave to be decentralized on: July 17, 2023, 07:02:17 AM
But if bitcoin loses its decentralized nature, it will cease to be an investment and store of value. Bitcoin would not be an investment if it were centralized because if someone could control it, they could increase the supply and render it useless just like fiat.

Bitcoin has always been a thorn in the government's side, and if it becomes centralized, the government will control everything and even destroy it. So it can be said that the decentralized nature has made bitcoin successful today, if bitcoin becomes centralized, it will be useless, and the game will be over. The decentralized nature is at the core of what makes bitcoin different and unique.

The decentralized nature of Bitcoin is a concrete feature but we must admit that that is not the only reason why Bitcoin has thrived.
Fiat is not useless. It's still a store of value. Majority of the world still use Fiat. Less than 5% of the world population own crypto. So how many of these will be for Bitcoin? Besides, a good number of those using crypto still use fiat. And the over 95% of people in the world use Fiat as a store of value.

If Bitcoin was just a decentralized currency and it cannot be invested then I doubt it would as successful as it is today.
So it's right to say the decentralized nature and the investment nature are the things that make Bitcoin successful.

Yes, fiat is not entirely useless, and I have overstated it because we all need it in our lives.

But I mean, if bitcoin is not decentralized, how can it be the successful investment it is today? Why are many altcoins also cryptocurrencies, but they are not decentralized, and they can't be as promising an investment as bitcoin? Altcoins are only considered speculative, gambling, used to make short-term profit, not a promising asset like bitcoin. Bitcoin has value because it is a highly sought-after asset, but will it still be potential if it becomes centralized? Or it will end up like other altcoins, that's what I mean. The decentralized nature of bitcoin determines the future of bitcoin.

In the second match, like the first match, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to field first against Afghanistan. Both teams will face each other today with some changes. Afif Hossain and Hasan Mahmud have been brought into the team as replacements for Shariful Islam and Rony Talukder. There has also been a change in the Afghanistan team, with Wafadar Momand replacing Fareed Ahmad. Winning the toss was very important for both the teams which the Bangladeshi captain has already shown. Now it is to be seen how the two teams perform on the field. Since both teams entered the field with changes, maybe these two teams have different plans.

The match has started. Currently, the match is stopped because of rain. Afghanistan scored 39 and lost two wickets. Only 7.2 overs had been bowled. Things looked to be going in the way of Bangladesh. But I think I remember that something similar happened in the first match as well. Afghanistan did not start well at all. But in the end, Afghanistan was able to make a comeback. Let’s see if the match resumes. Bangladesh will be on top if the match does resume and if the overs are not reduced. But I think it will probably not be a 20 over match in the end.
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin leave to be decentralized on: July 16, 2023, 12:00:42 PM

But that has not been the only reason bitcoin is adopted and grow, another reason is because it can be used as an investment and a store of value. People invest in it and some people store it long term.

895  Economy / Economics / Re: Can your passion lead to an increase in your net worth? on: July 16, 2023, 11:37:25 AM
There are many diverse opinions about following one's passion and wealth. I read two stories of people who followed their passion, and in a short period of time, the businesses became very profitable.

In story 1, Defossey left a job at Apple to open a BBQ restaurant in Mexico City. It made $9 million in sales last year. In story 2, Sean Audet, a 30-year-old, spent $0 launching a food photography side hustle, and now he brings in $134,000 a year.

The people in these stories followed their passion and created wealth through it. What is your opinion on following one's passion in relation to wealth? Can your passion lead to an increase in your net worth? If yes, what is stopping you from following it?

There are many more passionate and successful stories like the two you mentioned above. But not everyone who follows their passion will have such success, not every pursuit of your passion will be rewarded. I am a witness to following my passion but with no good results. I used to want to be a hairstylist, but while pursuing my passion, I encountered more economic difficulties than the advantages I had dreamed of. But when I switched to another field that I didn't love, it brought me a lot of money. For me, with a difficult life like now, as long as I have a job that helps me earn a lot of money, I will pursue it, I am no longer passionate about my passions. Because passion cannot be more important than wife and children and family.
896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding Bitcoin's Potential Realistically on: July 16, 2023, 10:49:15 AM
Satoshi created bitcoin with the aim of making it a peer-to-peer currency that cannot be controlled by the government, he did not mention that bitcoin would become the solution to all problems in the world. But ironically, so many people who aren't its father are propagating it as a god who came to save our world from trouble.

To me, bitcoin is just money, a tool to help me earn money so that I can have a better life, other than that, it is nothing else in this world. When I say this, it will probably make many people unhappy, but other than using it for profit, I don't see any additional benefit to my life. We have more important things to care about, not just bitcoin.
I would say it's also a good investment as well? I agree with everything else you said, it's a money and not a solution to all the problems but at the same time when we are talking about just money, we are missing the part that it's also an asset and can make you money as long as you keep it as well.

It is going to be hard to accept it and all that but I believe that we should be considering a problem if we do not hold it. Work for it, earn it , make money with it, and then invest in it as well if you have any left over after you spend it. That's how you should be approaching it. Do not consider it as a solution to all problems of course, but it could be a good investment and a currency to spend at the same time without an issue.
Yes, bitcoin is money, an investment, nothing more, nothing less. Quite frankly, bitcoin is being treated as an investment asset more than anything else, the people who care about bitcoin other than profit, not so many people care about other things like anonymity, peer-to-peer or private. I also bet you, the people who are trying to inflate bitcoin are god, but they themselves only care about profits more than anything else. But I don't know if they are ignorant about bitcoin, or they are intentionally spreading that news for some other purpose.

If you look at Real Madrid's pre-season fixtures, they will face AC Milan in the near future, interestingly Real Madrid will face many big clubs in their pre-season matches. I want to see how they do in the pre-season matches, I won't judge them and conclude, but I will see the development they will show during the pre-season matches. There will always be a difference between pre-season matches and real matches, but it can be a reference even if it doesn't guarantee it.
We'll be shown some matches from big clubs as they prepare.

I actually like the preseason fixture of Real Madrid. They will be facing Milan, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United. This is a really interesting preseason fixture. I know that no one actually cares about these club-friendly matches. But I want to see which young players they will play in these matches.

Almost all of the teams have brought in new players to the squad. It will be interesting to see if those players get a chance to play in the preseason matches. Arda is probably injured and I don’t know if he will be able to play in any preseason matches. Does anyone know what the injury situation is for him?

Older players flocking to Saudi for a big pension contract it seems.
@FabrizioRomano
Al Ahli are pushing to get Riyad Mahrez deal done. Talks advancing on player side since June — as he’s prepared to accept Al Ahli bid 🇸🇦🇩🇿
…but Man City are still waiting to get official proposal and documents, key stage before booking medical.
It will be discussed next week.
https://twitter.com/fabrizioromano/status/1680287831925694465

Another really good player moving to the Saudi league. I know that it is not official yet. But I believe it is going to be done very soon. The Saudi league is turning out to be a destination for the players who actually want to be earning a lot of money towards the end of their careers. But it is still going to need a lot of time for the league to actually be a competitive one. Because if the players are not old enough, they are not moving to the Saudi league right now.

And I believe Manchester City will be approached soon.

There are quite many options at Bayern Munich actually when we check their squad. Let's say Sommer didn't leave then there are 4 goalkepeers available as alternatives to Neuer. One of them is a really young one and let's say we kept him outside. Ulreich, Nübel and Sommer are the ones left.
If Neuer doesn't start playing right away then Bayern Munich can actually reassure Sommer about being the main goalkeeper here. In that case Sommer wouldn't leave and the problem would be solved. Otherwise Nübel can be a decent choice maybe until Neuer gets ready to play.
I still think that Sommer may leave, there are talks about him leaving and that makes sense a lot to me, I know that it is going to be a bit of a tough deal but at the end of the day it still can happen. I believe that we are talking about enough backup goalkeepers that if they lose just one of them then it is not going to be a big deal.
Of course Sommer would rather be the main goalkeeper there, but we know Neuer will be back and looks like he is going to be ready by the early season games, so it is not like there is a chance Sommer will keep that place. This is why it is better for him to leave and make a bigger impact somewhere else. I understand the logic, but Bayern should be understanding of his desires to leave as well.

As long as Manuel Neuer is in the Bayern Munich team. I don’t think any other goalkeeper is actually going to be recognized. So it is actually not going to be a bad idea for a Bayern Munich goalkeeper to actually leave the club.

Sommer needs to go to another club, he is already 34. Even for a goalkeeper, he does not have a lot of time left in his career. So he should choose what he is going to do very quickly. Otherwise, he will keep thinking and the time of his retirement is going to come really close. But at the same time, if he wants to stay in the shadows and keep winning different trophies, he should stay at Bayern Munich.

Lonzo was definitely a big name when coming into the league, the three brothers and their high school games were big phenom and then he got drafted by Lakers, which he wanted from the start, the things with his father and the shoe thing and all that. Dude was basically a walking headline, and he kept at it for a while as well. Its sad to see his career turn out like this, I would have expected him to at least finish his career, maybe not amazingly but at least keep playing. I am sure that he is not going to end up just retiring though, sure he has an injury for the whole season, and it doesn't matter how many seasons it takes, eventually he will try to do a comeback, either in NBA if he can find a contract, and if not I bet he will try to play overseas.

The dude is only 25 years of age. But in such a short time he has been through a lot. I still do not think that he's going to just retire. But all these things have certainly taken a big toll on his career. These three brothers could have been something amazing for the future of the NBA. The future of Lonzo Ball to be very bright at this moment. Being injured for a long time in the NBA can be a big problem for anyone. But he seems to be a great fighter. Not everyone can actually overcome these types of problems.
