881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2016, 01:06:17 PM
Am I to late to go and buy $2500 worth of Monero? or good investment..?

Not too late while we are still below ethereum. We deserve #2 atleast. When we have ethereum parity a that point you may be too late. But who knows. Btc parity and beyond certainly is not inconceivable.

These words from early bitcoiners are like music to my ears. Do I hear the mountains tremble?

but he's right in a way. long term he said, but didn't specify how long. I'm sure everybody here agrees Monero will be obsolete within 100 years and go to 0.00

Hardly.
I don't agree with you.
Why should it be so?

hardly any currency in history does. Not many currencies last longer than 100 + years

You are making the mistake of comparing Monero to currencies that have central authority. The currencies die because of hyperinflation when the central authority starts to print money big time at some point.
Monero will never have hyperinflation. It is the ultimate save haven just like gold but in digital form, therefore the storing costs are lower and it is more convenient than any physical product (it is easier to carry a trezor full of Moneros than bricks of gold).

i was comparing xmr to currencies in general.
cc's are a completely new thing, in many ways unpredictable. i would speculate however that there will be other better faster stronger currencies.

I am talking currencies in general.
During the past century or so the most of currencies are fiat currencies. Also fiat currencies are not unknown before that.
It is fiat currencies without any real packing that dies because of hyperinflation created by excessive money printing.
Gold is very good  example: it is a real asset and never has lost purchasing power. You were able to buy a new suit with 1 oz of gold 200 years ago. Also today you can buy a suit with 1 oz of gold.
Credit cards are not destroying the fiat currency (perhaps one's personal finances but not in general economy's finances) but the money printing which is used to finance the public sector deficits.

just search for American Pegasus, he has pretty clear vision of the future of XMR.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEzNXzZy8e4

While the message is good, his attitude, demeanour and delivery are not exactly endearing to anyone over 18yo.

Yes he seems to like drinking (watched a couple of his vids).
Anyway, he has written also here that he sees Monero having significiantly higher price tag than Bitcoin ever had and I think the odds for that are pretty significiant (hardly over 50 % but relatively high still IMO).
Especially the current rise has shown it is possible to pump the price of Monero 1000% in a short period of time which is pretty encouraging to me. Why should the rise stop? I see no reason for stopping the rise. Let's keep on rising. As long as there are bids supporting the price we can go pretty much anywhere (and if someone sells it has to be punished by pumping the price even higher so that there will be no incentive to unnecessary dumps).
886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2016, 08:48:23 AM
Long term, I think they're a pretty safe bet and I'm happy holding.

Long term XMR will go back to 1$.

I guess bitcoin can also go to 10 usd.
Obviously anything is possible but I think at this time 1 usd for xmr is very unlikely and the probability of that is less 1-2 %. That requires some very serious bug, otherwise it is heading to the Moon (10 000 + usd). If you want to read where Monero is going, just search for American Pegasus, he has pretty clear vision of the future of XMR.
These 20-30 % dips are heaven sent gifts so take advantage on them. They are like free money out of the holes in the bagholders' bags.
887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2016, 07:29:30 AM
Can we say the rise of bitcoin was due to the dip of Monero, not the other way around?

Here is why: many people with fiat (wether in darkmarket vendors or normal people) looking for entrance point to Monero. When the price of Monero started to drop they bought bitcoins in order to buy Moneros....?
With these level of volumes who knows.

I give 10 % probability of this view.
888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 10 btc in XMR and 10 btc in ETC.... Balls of steel, or plain stupidity? on: September 04, 2016, 07:09:23 AM
Buying Monero is a smart move now. The dark markets will absorb tons of moneros and the longer they continue doing so the bigger XMR scarcity there will be in open markets.
Therefore any amount of Moneros will be a god investment if you ask me. If you can afford to buy Moneros for 10 btc, then go for it. If you can afford to buy only 1 XMR, go for it.
Just treat Monero in more valuable manner than bitcoin, and hold it the longest time. I suggest to hold until 2030 Moneros. Then we have minimum blockreward, the Monero economy probably consists a lot of people, not just criminals and junkies. I'm a normal person and I prefer Monero over bitcoin, and I am sure there are billions of people like me.
889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: September 04, 2016, 06:57:23 AM
Hello,

I noticed xmr.to is not available.. I was thinking to deposit some bitcoins to my btc trezor via Monero but the service is not available for some reason.
890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2016, 06:25:12 AM
The rise of the XMR price is also due to the XMR holders who are not really that much interested selling at these prices. This creates some kind of shortage of supply and is a catalysator of the rising price.

That's true. Mainly the shorters are selling. The Great Wall which probably according to conspiracy theories Donald Trump built behind the scenes of anonymity, was for the purpose of accumulation. Accumulation is done by putting some thin bids under the wall and waite for the shorters to dump into them.
If that scenario is what happened, the shorters need to cover. They wish to find someone who wants to sell even lower. If they are unable to find any greater fool they need to admit they lost and buy higher which put buying pressure and accelerates the growth both with price and adaption.
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero will go back under 10 $ Factom will rise above 4$ on: September 03, 2016, 08:02:50 PM
Still holding my bags.
892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2016, 07:45:43 PM
Some shorts were just closed as well as long positions. Saw it from the lending markets.
893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2016, 02:28:22 PM
Withdrawal can be madee in parts. Just withdraw every day the max amount. Sure it takes time but the earlier you start the more coins you can withdraw.
894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2016, 01:06:40 PM
Do we see 1000 btc Donald Trump type of bid wall near the market price at some point?  Grin

I will let you know when the shorts have gone mad so we can ignite the rocket ship!   Grin

Dear Mr. McScruge... we are 60% richer today.... my tiny bag is growing.  I wish had put in moreeeee...  I have cashed out but will buy again and again and again to increase my wealth.

Thanks for your continued support and guidance.

No problem.
I am happy that you are satisfied with the ROI.
That being said, I think there are changes it goes to 10 000 usd or more per coin. Bitcoin has not been able to do it but that doesn't mean we need to follow the path of Bitcoin in that sense. After all, bitcoin failed to grow partially because it was not anonymous enough.

Therefore, if you think like I think it is not too late to buy some more coins. Even 0.1-1.0 XMR is better than nothing if bought on constant manner like a robot without emotions.
895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2016, 10:25:34 AM
Don't have any Monero...just a quick question.

Can you mine this coin? I saw something about GPU mining but that may be from the past.

Also in folks view is it just the anonymous aspects of this coin that have helped cause the pump or is there other features of this coin in your view that also add to this

thanks just trying to put my toe in the water here and check this thread out...I need a starting point Smiley

Welcome.
Just buy and hold.
It is Bitcoin 2.0.
896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2016, 09:22:10 AM
Still some bigger volumes running through

Yes, and order book being maintained at 7300 BTC.

I don't think we're finished here, so no sleep for me  Cheesy

Edit:  orders over 7800

In late 2014/early 2015 the bids were less than 100 btc (aroun 80 btc if I remember correctly). Those were the days of all time lows. Good old days I guess.

898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Soon $100 on: September 02, 2016, 05:23:57 PM
Me as well as most crypto folks appreciate that Monero has been as amazingly undervalued for such a long time. $8-$10 is just the beginning, $100 is imminent for certain. I'm speechless to see my $0.23/XMR investment go to such heights. I will be buying the XMR Lamborghini.

Chances are this happen already this year. All it needs is 3 legs when the price rises under 100 % per leg.

However, if this will not happen in 2016, my advice is not to be disappointed but just be a bit more patient and waite to 2017 or 2018...

Personally I do not have any goal for the price of Monero but I want to buy 1-5 ounces of gold coins to reward me when it breaks 100 usd/xmr.
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DASH Collapsing Monero UP on: September 02, 2016, 05:19:34 PM
XMR- 250.000.000 $ Market Cap.
Dash- 0.01 BTC

That's my prediction.

I can easily see Monero being worth ~ 10 000 usd/XMR and bitcoins being traded against Monero with the rate of 0.02 XMR/BTC.
Dark coin I do not see future anymore. Only one anon coin should survive IMO. Being it XMR or DRK. Looks like it is going to be XMR.
