Was't getting any responses in the other thread so I thought I would try here.

Does anyone know if I need to run any commands when transferring wallets from one computer to another? I sent a few to one computer and then used that to transfer to my main wallet on another machine. It worked the first one or two times but the third transfer seems to have disappeared. The old wallet shows a balance of 0 while the main wallet has not received any coins. It's been around an hour now, every other transfer has taken seconds.

To transfer the wallet I would shut down primecoind, replace the old empty wallet with the new one and start primecoind again.

I'm wondering if this is a bug in the wallet or if there is some reason why this can't work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It's really not that hard. Go to SFTP on your server

DOWNLOAD THE WALLET

stop primecoind

rm -f /.primecoin/wallet.dat (<< DO THIS ONLY IF YOUR WALLET IS DOWNLOADED & BACKED UP)  *CAUTION THIS COMMAND DELETES THE WALLET*

Then you can replace it with the one described here. I don't know if its trust worthy, but I will find out soon.

That is pretty much what I was doing, I was seeing the new wallets with their transactions and balances. The issue was that when I transferred the balance of the second or third wallet the coins seemed to disappear. They were no longer in the original wallet and never made it to my main wallet. I checked and I had connections to the network so the transaction should have propagated. I wonder if there is a bug where the client configuration gets tied to the wallet and when the wallet it switched it corrupts the transactions.

Wait, did you not use keypools? This could have gone terribly wrong at the simple fact that you did not have enough addresses in your wallet to handle it.  The command: primecoind --daemon keypools=10000 & would generate 90k addresses (roughly on the safe side) and from what I hear, it would avoid de-syncing, and can avoid bugs. That is not a good sign that it did not go to your main wallet. I don't know the answer to this one completely, but I know keypool should help (only when creating a new wallet) after deleting it. You should have done this before cloning or making duplicates of the same server

It seems that it works okay... But hp8 gives much more pps. So bfgminer should be optimized too. Undecided

LZ, last I checked from IRC, they stopped working on this... is it back?

891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 26, 2013, 03:39:52 AM
IMPORTANT: Fixed loss of potential blocks caused by fractional length calculation being skipped if fast divisibility test succeeds. (Thanks to mtrlt for spotting this.)

So it is fully fixed in the just released version hp8, right? Tongue

I might have found a bug in hp7. I copied the hp7 code over to Reaper, and found some weird behavior. I noticed that many shares/blocks it found, had a difficulty with a fractional part of 0.

Function: FermatProbablePrimalityTestFast. It does a Fermat test, and if it fails, it calculates the fractional part. However, there's a fast division test before the Fermat test. If the fast division test is succesful, the function is returned from and the fractional part isn't calculated. If it just happened to be the last number in a chain, the fractional part isn't calculated and is left at 0. This means if the difficulty is for example 6.2, and the miner found a block of difficulty 6.3, it's possible that the fractional part was left uncalculated, and the miner thinks it's difficulty 6.0. The block doesn't get submitted and lots of profit has been lost.

The same applies to EulerLagrangeLifchitzPrimalityTestFast.

Right now I don't have git set up, I can't submit a patch.

Let's get her done Smiley

893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][XPM] HostForBit.com - XPM Mining Cloud Service on: July 26, 2013, 01:10:08 AM
Here's my report: I've been given a bit more than 11 hours of free usage of basic service.

Mined 0.270814 XPM during that time, meaning I would probably get ≈ 0.270814 / 11 * 24 = 0.59 XPM for 24h usage.
That usage costs 0.01 BTC ≈ 0.01 / 0.00842772 (current mcxNOW rate) = 1.18 XPM.

It gets down to this: you pay 1.18 XPM/day to earn 0.59 XPM/day. Thanks for free trial, but there is no logic for me to pay for the service.

These aren't being mined to flip for quick profits overnight. XPM is a long-term goal setter. Today, Bitcoin was announced with great news on Channel 7 ABC news, and boy did they have good things to say. Primecoin isn't at the same level, and probably still in speculation mode, but make sure you have some coins at hand once our next world record is broken. I am not an exchange expert but I watch it enough to see how it is going.

Thanks for trying this out tho, and hope to get something cooked up for you in the future.

I will let you know when our beta version of the optimized server rates are ready.
894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 26, 2013, 12:47:46 AM
Thanks mikaelh... Is there anything similar to Sunny's original gensieveroundlimitms as a fallback to limit the total time spent on a round?

Technically Sunny's gensieveroundlimitms does not limit the total round time. It only limits the sieving part.

With my release you can use sievepercentage to adjust the sieving time. Then you can use roundsievepercentage to adjust the total round time based on the sieving time. There's no option for a hard cap in milliseconds since I don't see any point in it and the code runs faster if I don't impose such hard caps.

+1

20k PPS could be setup at DigitalOcean for ~$7/day, and you're charging ~$48/day. Even at DO's low rates, it's barely profitable now at the current difficulty and exchange rate. Terrible deal, if you ask me.

Althought at this moment I think that using this service will not give profit on current XPM prices, let's be fair, biggest (not on front page) DigitalOcean option of 8 CPU's, which costs $6/day gives ONLY 4500 pps. I know that because I did test run on it for 24 hours, 2 days ago.

They never said how good processors they have, 8 x pentium1 isn't the same as 8 x newest xeon

Thanks for the feedback.  I like what you mentioned here on the last line about the processors.

I'll share it here for one of the many we are hosting on so you guys know where we are at.

I got shares and the service works.Well done!

Hey thanks for the feedback. Check your account in about 30 minutes. You will see a little bit of improvements in the amount of shares/per second.

n4ru, you shouldn't come in here and spam, and you can't call it a scam when we haven't scammed anymore. Your post is going to get deleted again.

Everyone knows about DO and uses DO... we have orders coming in from users switching over.

Hello Primecoiner's,

I have some good news to announce. We have launched the first batch of orders of 20k pps and almost sold out of the second batch. I am seeing valid shares coming through and it is only going to increase as it rolls. Its a +1 cycle system.

Our free 6 hours trial was short and sweet... And it was there to try. We kept some 6 hour accounts live for them to continue trying and this was random as we at Host for bit, drew 5 names out of a hat to give some users up to 4 hours extra. P

We will let you know when that trial is back but as of now its 1000 pps for 0.01/btc a day

Overall, we have more good news. We are working closely to optimize our systems and port routing to try and enable a much faster speed and processing rate for each pps that it outputs. If successful, users may see a jump of 5% increase in valid shares per round.

We hope to continue working on serving the community with more value daily

Thanks for choosing us as your host for bit provider in xpm mining
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][XPM] HostForBit.com - XPM Mining Cloud Service on: July 25, 2013, 03:19:51 PM
Is this more profitable than simply trading BTC for XPM on an exchange?

Please let me know your experiences!

Totally different ball games. Exchange is short term, and its hit and miss.

Mining with our route is like having employees working under you... you just tell it where to go, and they get the job done. What I love about the pool is we have alot of strength on the network, and we are earning no matter what. It's tough sitting on no blocks solo mining because a big shark is taking over.  At least now you can have a few more fishes to eat and some extra, rather than no fish at all.
