8801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Gold Standard comparison is invalid on: May 09, 2011, 09:33:33 AM
I wrote this email to him:
Quote
Miners and bitcoin clients are doing a "work/job".
They aren't just "mining" and doing some useless math.
"They are confirming that all transactions are good."
Without their work, the network will become totally insecure.
It's like a secretary job.
Everyone in Bitcoin is doing the same job.
You should give a check to see what are doing the miners and simple client other then simple "mining".
The "block" isn't a simple random data.

Making sure that all transactions are good is a valuable job, and the fact that Bitcoin is totally anonymous is another big value for some merchants.

If I mine, and then I confirm a block of Bitcoin ... then I confirmed that many and many transactions were done well.
I just did the secretary job well.

I see it like this physics joke:
http://www.funnyjunk.com/funny_pictures/357458/Magic/
It's like a circle, everything works because one thing has a meaning that give a value to the other one and vice versa.

I see a difference from just mining "gold", because as you said finding "gold" is a totally useless job.

What do you think about my point of view?

Sorry but english isn't my mother language ... I hope that you have understood well Smiley

8804  Economy / Gambling / Re: Texas Hold'em Poker Room - NL, Limit, Potlimit tables available. on: May 08, 2011, 09:52:54 PM
Can you add some fun-tables with "virtual" bitcoins? Smiley
So people will be able to test your website without using real bitcoins.
8805  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitMarket.Eu - a new European exchange on: May 08, 2011, 08:44:47 PM
Can you share a file with all the strings of your website?
So it will be possible to translate it in many languages.

You can also use this service:
http://crowdin.net

Can you export it so it will be like a plug-in?

I don't agree with your position because governments and laws do exist regardless of what you might like, and they will happily just seize your servers or throw you in jail if a court gives them permission.
There are some situations where the server and admin are out of the country.
Also many situations where the country aren't a truly freedom places.
Laws are subject of the usual human's failure.
It's better to build a system that isn't based on human's rules, as Bitcoin is itself.

Idea:
Integrate the Bitcoin Faucet with the forum!

People will be able to Tip people with Bitcoin ( 0.01 or more ).
They even be able to withdraw them, but then they will disappear from the account, and they won't be able to show their "value" on the forum.

There must be some rules to avoid clones, example:
You can give 0.01 bitcoin if your account isn't older than a month and doesn't have X messages.

8817  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BitMarket.eu - should we accept USD? on: May 02, 2011, 11:58:00 AM
I plan to start a new thread tomorrow, with ideas how these BTC exchange services could become better by using other payment services. Only for now: With liqpay.com your customers would need only their debit or cc, a cellphone to be able to receive and send money. Why not paying and get paid for BTC over this? They only had to give their phonenumber to the trading partner, and their db/cc data to liqpay to withdrawal the money. If some donīt trust liqpay, they shalt get some free debitcard.
I think that this can be a good idea.
BitMarket should just suggest that this has some more risks, and as you said it's better to use it with a debitcard.
Users will have the choice to use it or not Smiley
