8201  Other / Meta / Re: Stop Posting "Subscribing..." on: March 14, 2012, 10:20:30 PM
I also used "subbed" sometimes.

My intentions were two:
1) subscribing to the topic
2) notify to the OP that I was interested his topic

I think that the second is the most important, because it gives a reward to the OP.
He/She will know that there are some people interested on what he/she is saying / is going to say.

I think that a good way to limit/stop all these "subbed" post is adding a counter ( or showing all their names at the bottom ) somewhere near/in the topic that show how many people are subscribed to it.

Then you should give a look at Jtorchat
It's the Java client with the same protocol Smiley

( energia solare )
8207  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] btctip.com- send bitcoins with a tweet on: March 13, 2012, 09:25:54 AM
My current plan is to sell advertising space on the site once it has enough to traffic to be worth the trouble. I imagine the ad space would be particularly attractive for bitcoin exchanges and merchants, as the site, if popular, will have a lot of visitors who will be receiving bitcoins for the first time and would want to sell/spend them.
Can you add something like this?
http://dailybitcoins.org
https://coinad.com

the main difference ( with your service ) is that  people will be able to send Bitcoin to others ( just by tweeting ) without the need of the Bitcoin address. ( and without owning anything Smiley )
It's a good way to spread the Bitcoin verb to people that don't know it.
Moreover, in reality there won't be any bitcoin sent if no one will come to claim them Smiley
( they will also spam your service Grin )

8210  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoinize boards / forums on: March 12, 2012, 10:55:18 PM
The idea comes from this:
https://ogrr.com
They are integrating Bitcoin with the board to make it like a market ( even if it's not automatic right now, but they ware working on it ... )

I though that there are many forums on Internet, and many will born on next hours.

Some them have already some economic features, but they are also many dedicated to games/mmo and many other topics that can be good for starting markets.

So I thought that it will be very good to develop mods ( or convert others as weex did here with osCommerce ) to support Bitcoin currency.

This just to push Bitcoin even more all over the Internet.

Everyone will be able to add the free Bitcoin market on their boards just by adding a mod, and all users on the forum will know that there is a new currency in the world!

It should be good to have a mod for every common boards ( phpbb, smf, invision, vbulletin ... )

I just did a search and I found this mod about Invision that can be a good start to get an earlier result.
( I don't know if there are better mods, it's just the good first result that I found )
Do you know other good mods for other boards that can be easy to be modified to support Bitcoin?

If you like this idea, we can also start a bounty for every mods.
8211  Other / Meta / Re: [Feature Request] "Ignored by # peoples" besides usernames (10 BTC bounty) on: March 12, 2012, 09:45:51 PM
@theymos
I think that the "ignore color" should be visible even to themselves. ( without asking screenshots Tongue )
Can you also add the color somewhere else? ( ex: their nick name )

Anyway, you did good Wink
8212  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: osCommerce Bitcoin Payment Module on: March 12, 2012, 04:30:23 PM
I don't know if you are the right person, but do you think that it's difficult to make this mod compatible with Bitcoin as you did with this osCommerce module?
( this is just the first mod that I found, I don't know if it is the better one ... )
8213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Marketing Agency Uses Homeless As Wi-Fi Hotspots on: March 12, 2012, 03:26:10 PM
Quote
"Marketing agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) has launched a controversial charity scheme at this year's South by Southwest festival, in which homeless people are being used to provide Wi-Fi hotspots. The project, Homeless Hotspots, seeks to address people's need for a high-speed data connection at the festival in Austin, Texas, by issuing the homeless with T-shirts that say 'I am a 4G hotspot.' Passers-by may then pay what they wish either in cash or by PayPal to get online 4G networks via the Wi-Fi device that a homeless person is carrying and the proceeds go to the Front Steps Homeless shelter in Austin."

This is a work in progress but the goal will be automated Bitcoin payment processing using just oscommerce, bitcoind running locally, and a bit of python. In regards to whether it's wise to store BTC locally, the python script will offload BTC to the shopkeeper's address of choice not long after it's confirmed.

https://github.com/weex/oscommerce-bitcoin

Part of the python script monitors bitcoind and restarts it if it doesn't answer.

Feel free to comment or make suggestions or ask questions or dismiss this entirely or code something better or hack another bitcoin service or ...

Smiley
8220  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Re: miningpool.com down? on: March 08, 2012, 09:22:05 PM
