901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: UNITED BITCOIN on: December 31, 2017, 02:08:16 AM
still kinda weird, but yes it looks like you need to send them out of a wallet by that point, but that's annoying because it had to have balance a few months back which means you have to use the private key of your cold storage or hardware wallet which will screw up your storage if you have seeds locked away.

i think i preferred the previous version where you sent it hardware wallet - temporary wallet - hardware wallet which left you with a junk key. this way means you'll have to get a new seed for your main storage.

Quote
In fact, according to a recent study, more than 3 in 10 salaried workers in South Korea have invested in one or more cryptos.

And the sole reason why bitcoin remains an unprecedented investment craze even as hackers have stolen millions, lawmakers are pushing for new taxes and regulations, and leading financial officials have called it a “Ponzi scheme" is that - so far at least - it has been the best investment for virtually anyone who has bought it: the S.Korean survey (which polled 941 people via email from Dec. 19 to 20, with about 80% of respondents in their 20s and 30s) revealed that of those who invested in cryptos, more than 80% made money from it, and about 20% made an average return of 425% on their investment. The average Korean investor owned some 5.66 million won ($5,260) in virtual currencies.

It's 1 country and ready to follow the mathematic path of TrustNet.

941 people by email? what type of moron would base an article and brand a whole country's market on a pollling method like that?
903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt (NXT) Upcoming airdrop - Price speculation on: December 30, 2017, 04:08:48 PM
Yes. Did you not notice the ass falling out of the price?

That was the one and only reason for the pump in the first place.
904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin on: December 30, 2017, 04:05:26 PM
Next year is when everyone realises the already semi forgotten ICO craze delivered almost zero viable business uses apart from a few exceptions

Most of ethereum's rise this year was because it turned into an ICO lottery machine.

It'll have to earn it's keep with more useful stuff next year.
905  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 30, 2017, 04:00:45 PM
Why does nipple even need discussing. How did it wind up sneaking into the crypto market anyway?

Who left the back door open? Could sworn I locked it.

Y'all should be waiting for 2020. That's when destiny is fulfilled. Until then I'm prepared for all kinds of oddness to happen.
907  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 30, 2017, 02:47:13 PM
I reckon 100 billion dollar ripple is the epitaph for this particular bubble.

I know market cap is dumb but let that sink in anyway.
908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coins that will survive a bubble, real world use coins. on: December 29, 2017, 11:23:35 PM
nothing will survive a proper bubble pop. you're telling me ethereum can't function at a 5 billion dollar market cap? of course it can. nothing's doing a significant amount of real world business, and the little that is taking place doesn't justify 1/50th of the current valuations.

the best thing that can happen is that real world use catches up with the speculative value but that's a vast ask.
909  Economy / Speculation / Re: Which exchange for cashing out more than 100 BTCs to a company bank account? on: December 29, 2017, 08:34:22 PM
Private buyers might be a better idea honestly. If you use a big exchange, you're probably going to end up being faced with significant fees. I know Coinbase is pretty bad with those fees especially if you're in the US. They take a significant chunk. Also, for most part, the exchanges have been doing a pretty bad job at keeping up with the traffic they've been getting. It's probably just a better idea to stay away from them in general.

it's not fees that should stop anyone, it's the possibility of funds being frozen. the exchanges are a twitchy bunch of guys and places like bitstamp hit you with ass probes when you drop large amounts even when you're already verified.
910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple (XRP) is a shame to the crypto-community. on: December 29, 2017, 08:08:40 PM
98% or more of the people here are in crypto to make more dollars and then leave. that may not be a fun idea but it's the truth. if ripple gets them there before bitcoin then that's the train they're gonna choose to ride. hardly anyone will turn down money for reasons of morals or principals.
911  Economy / Speculation / Re: Which exchange for cashing out more than 100 BTCs to a company bank account? on: December 29, 2017, 07:59:38 PM
you're not gonna get a worthwhile answer until you tell us what country you're in.

i wouldn't dream of attempting to extract dollars from bitfinex. i'm not sure whether it's even possible again yet.

if you qualify then the gemini daily auction might work. you'd better check carefully every exchange's limits. some won't let you take out that much in one month no matter what you send them.
912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will bitcoin start rising? Will ripple rule the market in the future? on: December 29, 2017, 06:17:26 PM
ripple has less than zero resemblance to bitcoin. could it pump past it? you never know. would it matter? if people can't understand why bitcoin is important then they deserve to get schooled when its properties are actually needed. ripple won't be of any use to them then.
913  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-28] Dancing With the Devil: ‘Cashing Out’ Cryptos Into Fiat Not So Easy on: December 29, 2017, 05:33:33 PM
It's not that difficult to be honest.

it's completely dependent on what country you live in. if you're in america you're spoilt for options. if you're in the uk you have a lot lot more work ahead of you. if you're a crypto billionaire in mali then you really are up shit creek.
914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Percentage of people on this forum who never used their Bitcoin to pay? on: December 29, 2017, 05:25:22 PM
i've bought a bunch of things in the past. if bitpay wasn't launching an all out assault on people paying with bitcoin i'd pay for more stuff with it.

i don't think people are gonna use it as a currency cold, but existing bitcoin holders from a while back certainly have enough free money that they'd like to spend.
915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: RaiBlocks (XRB) is going to be a top 10 coin on: December 29, 2017, 05:10:06 PM
i will guess that any pumps in the near future will be to do with people mistaking it for xrp. that's the caliber of trader we're dealing with here. anyway i'll check it out. anything dag ish is interesting.
916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: December 29, 2017, 04:49:51 PM
to be honest i am very disappointed in Byteball in the past half year (6 months). it is a very good project with a lot of interesting features. and nice little ideas like sending Byteball to someone else through Email which was added in the last version.
but it is extremely under-appreciated.
and it is mainly because this coin is not listed on poloniex!

poloniex is no longer the man. there are other exchanges that would be just as helpful.

i'm surprised byteball hasn't done more yet but its day will come at some point. once there's a concrete plan for the entire distribution it'll be easier to take a position with confidence.
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how are these alt whales cashing out? on: December 28, 2017, 11:33:35 PM
Guys have you seen nxt colapse? That was very interesting to watch and learn

it should be no surprise to anyone. the sole reason for the pump was to get the new coins. now the moment has passed it's back to hell for nxt.
918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt (NXT) Upcoming airdrop - Price speculation on: December 28, 2017, 10:04:49 PM
Hm, ok, but from where did you get this info?
Last thing I've read about them is that a-trust is launching project based on nxt, and that was...yesterday Undecided

it could be my ass, that was what someone else told me on another forum. you'll do better research than me.

either way the only times it has pumped in the last couple of years is because of these airdrop coins. pumper attention will turn to them as they're the new excitement and that's what they feed off.

nxt is the oldest coin of its type by a long way. i think it's safe to say that if it really gonna go to the stars it would've done already.
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt (NXT) Upcoming airdrop - Price speculation on: December 28, 2017, 07:52:17 PM
What do you expect, how deep will price go down?
I was thinking about buying nxt. Of course, i missed airdrop  Roll Eyes

it's been a pump and dump airdrop coin for ages now. as far as i know they're also abandoning nxt development once ardor is up and running. it's pretty much the worst buy out there right now.
920  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: December 28, 2017, 06:48:40 PM
i guess that's me schooled then. very silly for someone like this to fall for it so i presume he knows more than we do, then again...

i also find it a little weird that he's a leading role in bitcoin when he didn't even get into it until late 2013 and was previously skeptical about the whole thing.
