If I were Satoshi I would have done a spend from the Genesis block and signed it "I am Craig Wright". Then I would go back into hiding forever. The genesis block coins are not spendable. All he can do is sign a message with the genesis block key. It would be extremely entertaining to see such a signed message show up.

satoshi doesn't need to sign anything and say anything because first of all satoshi doesn't want to come out for whatever reason and also this CW scandal was going to become clear sooner or later. and about the block size debate, i have to say that he is not the centralization of bitcoin so his opinion would just be another opinion as others. we need consensus not someone giving out rules .
Satoshi has already spoken: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1347.msg15139#msg15139We can phase in a change later if we get closer to needing it.

That is so choice. I can see Craig has a bright future as a Nigerian Prince.

|
If I were the real Satoshi Nakamoto and I wanted to come forward, would I want to enter such a hostile place? Yes, Craig brought this on himself, with the piss poor attempt at fooling the community with the
" so called " proof he brought to identify himself, but it still a aggressive attitude towards someone who might have been Satoshi.
There was never any "might have been Satoshi". It was an aggressive attitude towards an obvious scam/fraud attempt. I for one am proud of the community in such hostility. WTG Team Bitcoin. Whoever can sign a genesis-block message will get huge support from the community. It's that simple.

His reputation along with Gavin's is tarnished. To be fair to Gavin it looks like he wasn't really paying attention to how Wright was playing things and now admits he got it wrong: https://dankaminsky.com/ Yeah, what the heck? I was as surprised by the ‘proof’ as anyone, and don’t yet know exactly what is going on. It was a mistake to agree to publish my post before I saw his– I assumed his post would simply be a signed message anybody could easily verify.
And it was probably a mistake to even start to play the Find Satoshi game, but I DO feel grateful to Satoshi.
If I’m lending credibility to the idea that a public key operation should remain private, that is entirely accidental. OF COURSE he should just publish a signed message or (equivalently) move some btc through the key associated with an early block. Feel free to quote or republish this email. "early block"? No, not good enough! Any block other than the genesis block could have been mined by someone else. Gavin should know you can't move the coins from the genesis block, so the only option is a signed message from the genesis block.

AAAAANNNNNNDDDDD scene I'm Sorry.
I believed that I could do this. I believed that I could put the years of anonymity and hiding behind me. But, as the events of this week unfolded and I prepared to publish the proof of access to the earliest keys, I broke. I do not have the courage. I cannot.
When the rumors began, my qualifications and character were attacked. When those allegations were proven false, new allegations have already begun. I know now that I am not strong enough for this.
I know that this weakness will cause great damage to those that have supported me, and particularly to Jon Matonis and Gavin Andresen. I can only hope that their honour and credibility is not irreparably tainted by my actions. They were not deceived, but I know that the world will never believe that now. I can only say I'm sorry.
And goodbye. http://www.drcraigwright.net/homepage.jpgEmphasis added. That part of his post is true. He cannot because he does not have the keys because he was never Satoshi.

Put trolls on ignore instead of engaging them. Unless you enjoy the futility of it.
Just got a big bag of chocolate covered coffee beans. Yum. Can't stop.

So now Dr. Wright is a magician That's some serious trust issues you got there. I sure do, based on many years of having to deal with real scammers every day of my life. look, if Dr. Wright pulled the wool over the eyes of both Dr. Gavin Andresen, Chief Scientist of the Bitcoin Foundation AND to Mr. Jon Matonis, @jonmatonis, Founding Director at Bitcoin Foundation, CEO of Hushmail, Columnist at Forbes, Chief Forex Dealer at VISA, Economist, but you insist that you won't be fooled? Oh, that's rich.
Correct. Independently verified or I won't accept it. Bitcoin has a verification method built-in. Use it or GTFO.

SSS. Price goes up, I sell a little. Price goes down, I buy more back. Win-win.
|
|

that leaves us with the question of why keep the details secret.
Obviously a rhetorical question, but I'll answer it for fun. Because it was a trick. I could easily create a bitcoin client that could fake signing a message. The thing is, no one else would be able to replicate it. Which is why it was in a secret meeting.

There are many reasons he may not want to post proof for you to verify, not the least of which is you constantly moving the goal posts.
Feel free to browse my extensive post history. I was posting here when Satoshi was still active. The goal posts have never moved. Sign a genesis block msg. Trivial for Satoshi to do and *everyone* can verify it. He has provided proof to the most respected leaders of bitcoin:
They were tricked. Have you never seen a magician? Do not believe the "proof" from secret meetings. How about showing some respect for Dr. Wright's privacy?
If he wants privacy he shouldn't claim to be Satoshi. Claiming to be Satoshi is inviting investigations. The real Satoshi is smarter than that. He keeps quiet and no one finds him.

No offense intended, but Gavin is a fool. He should to go Vegas and watch Penn & Teller shoot a bullet from a gun and catch it in his teeth. I'll let you in on a secret. It's a trick. Craig fooled Gavin. If it's not publically verifiable, it's a trick.
|
|
|
No matter how much proof Satoshi gives you guys, you'll still nitpick and find fault. No wonder he withdrew from this poisonous community.
No, the proof is trivial, but has not been posted. Sign a message with the genesis block key and post it for us all to verify. Anything less is simply a scam.

Excuse me but... I thought that Gavin was one of the few persons that had actually know Satoshi in person, am I right? if so, how could he just say he "believes" this man to be satoshi? He should be sure in that case!
Gavin emailed/chatted with Satoshi quite a bit, but never met in person. But Gavin is either a fool or has some other ulterior motive by not requiring a genesis-block signed message. Something else is going on. The real Satoshi would easily prove himself.

If you don't see a bitcoin-signed message from the genesis address (1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa) then it's not Satoshi. I don't see that. Craig is not Satoshi.

No one's going to notice the reduction of 1800 new bitcoins coming into the market every day.
The miners will notice! Their income will drop in half. A lot of marginal miners will turn off their rigs. Hashrate could drop a bit.

I am claiming that the halving is already at least partially priced in.
This. It's a sliding scale. As we near halving, the halving becomes more priced in. There won't be an instant price jump the moment the halving occurs.

Up 100% since one year ago. Such a nice looking chart.

Hello sir, thanks for the information. The statement I made was based on my sole observations and the problems I faced. Earlier blocks used to be mined faster or maybe just that I was lucky.
I have seen since hours sometimes blocks not getting mined, earlier I never saw. Maybe just a time difference and a co-incidence, sorry if that was wrong.
There are over 400,000 blocks mined. You want to draw a broad conclusion from a single block? If you want to draw a valid conclusion, why don't you research historical block times?
